"They zealously court you, but for no good, yes, they want to exclude you, that you may be zealous for them." (Galatians 4:17)

But what about false lovers??? Ones can make an endless point of pointing the finger at ones they call false teachers, etc., and do this so attention does not go to evaluating how they *themselves* really are.

I have noticed how certain pastors can be so very "good" at pointing out how other churches are wrong, etc., but they are not at least as careful to make sure we are wise to them and how they can be wrong and mislead us. And who can have more of a chance to fool you - - some cult group you don't even know, or your own pastor or someone you live with?

What are the tactics you have seen FALSE TEACHERS use, to DECEIVE, SEDUCE, and BRAINWASH people?

Having been to one of those 'prophecy conferences' as held by one promoter of false religion, I have noticed they try taking advantage of the religious prejudice towards Roman Catholicism.

For instance, they claim that the Roman Church changed the Sabbath and just about everyone has a high esteem for the 10 commandments.

Unfortunately most of those that attend their prophecy conferences are totally ignorant of both the Bible and church history.

The other trash they preach is not introduced until the candidate shows up at their church.

While I've never been called a false teacher to my face I have many times been accused of teaching heresy, which is really just a different way of saying the same thing. I really don't worry about this as I understand one man's opinion is heresy to another man. I do see God's guidance and asked him to keep me from teaching any heresy.

Adding to Paul's Gospel,(1 Cor.15:1-4) which perverts it

Gal.1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:7 Which is not another, but there be some that trouble you, and would PERVERT THE GOSPEL of Christ.

Trav: "GOD said he married Israel. He said he divorced them. He said he will remarry them.
Metphorical or literal to you.

Scripture also says that God is like a hen, but is he a hen or what a hen does to its chicks?
---Steveng on 8/19/10

Which came first? Chicken/hen or egg.

Well, you have to have a hen to build an egg. Who would hatch or guard a new hatchling?

If you watch a hen and chicks....she will against insurmountable worldly danger rush around gathering "twelve" under her wings.

Mark E, again you gave such a great answer to Cluny. Salvation is everything and more then just salvation when you said in 8/16/10,

"All of the words you listed, justification, sanctification, and redemption ARE aspects of salvation. We can add words like mercy, grace, pardon, forgiveness, partaker, righteous, joint-heir, etc. etc. etc.
"Salvation is so much BIGGER than we realize. What God has given to us cannot be measured. The NT uses over and over the word "over abundant" to describe the inheritance we have been given. Salvation is not just God forgiving your sins."
---MarkV. on 8/21/10

To StevenG
It is important to some of us to understand not only who Lord is, but also what Lord is. And the Lord is Divine Love in marriage, so to speak, with Divine Wisdom. You cannot have just love, since Love without Wisdom is simply blind. And when blindness leads the blind... you know well where it ends.
Incidentally, and to prove the point please consider this: all Truths are derivatives of His Wisdom, and not His Love.
The derivatives of His Love in us is called good, not truth.
It is not really complicated, but simply fundamental, since we all have two clear capacities: to feel and to think. God Bless.

simon: "Steveng has made a great point to which I must add that there are three senses, so to speak, to the Word: literal, spiritual, and celestial."

Why do you make living a christian life so difficult and complicated. There is only one word Jesus spoke of that all the laws and commandments of the old testament hangs upon - love. Do an online KJV bible search for "one another," "each other," "comfort," and "encourag" to learn HOW to love because living a christian life is a 24/7 lifestyle not a once a week pep talk dished out by denominational churches. Colossians 2:8-10
---Steveng on 8/19/10

Steveng has made a great point to which I must add that there are three senses, so to speak, to the Word: literal, spiritual, and celestial. Of the first and second we may speak, since the third, the innermost, has not been revealed yet. So you see, the literal could be viewed in many different ways, as it has been. The spiritual clarifies the literal and gives it a proper and almost perfect sense of comprehension.
Thus, without the knowledge of the spiritual meaning of His Word, there were and are plenty "false" teaching, as well as teachers.
God Bless.

Many organizations are false teachers. Some characteristics of these organizations are,
They teach observance of certain rituals is scriptural. Characteristics such as,
1. deifying anyone except the Lord Jesus Christ.
2. The keeping of sacraments is essential for salvation.
3. They teach that the organization is infallible, or the only true way to heaven.

Modern man has become too knowledgable and too technical to understand the meanings behind metaphors.---Steveng on 8/18/10

Fulfillment is told from different witnesses, all unique from their viewpoint but, witnessing the same thing.
Change Testament to Covenant...and research the need for a NEW Covenant to REPLACE an OLD Covenant. TRUTH that this transpired requires witnesses. Signs.
Prophets are witnesses, being dead when fulfillment took place.
The New Covenant is with the SAME Ethnos the Old Covenant was with. Witnessed by Heb8:8, and all prophets.
It needs no,addition or commentary from self supposed knowledgable or technical experts. They get lost in the forest of sentence/paragraph context.
---Trav on 8/19/10

How many different ways are written in the New Testament about Christ's death? (one hint: Christ's blood).

Modern man has become too knowledgable and too technical to understand the meanings behind metaphors. As an English instructor in college and a tutor for over thirty five years, I find that today's young people don't understand the metaphor concept. There are several metaphors that describe Christ's death, but they all mean the same thing - Christ's death. Most people take the metaphors too literal and start their own religion behind that metaphor. If a person studied poetry, or even Shakespeare, they would more likely understand the literal meaning behind metaphors.
---Steveng on 8/18/10

The "sheading of his blood" for one. does it literally mean his blood or does it simply mean his death?
The bible is surely literal and yet it is not. The words and phrases written by the Jews are both literal and metaphorical.
---Steveng on 8/16/10

The metaphorical, literal sign of the blood sacrifice.
Hebrews 9:26
For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by sacrifice of himself.

GOD said he married Israel. He said he divorced them. He said he will remarry them.
Metphorical or literal to you.
Keep in mind...he had a physical son...
Symbolically linked to Abraham's son....who was almost sacrificed.

---Linda on 8/16/10

False teachers are your biggest hypocrites. They go around proclaiming that God loves you, but, never tells them what they must do in order to reach heaven....False teachers also, are extremely judgmental of others while ignoring their own rotten condition. False teachers says one thing, but, seldom if ever deliver, rather they make promises and don't deliver. These are some things that I have notice, and all of them either goes to church and teach or they have spent some time in the church, only later because of sin stopped going. They do good work, but, for the wrong reasons. They rather help strangers than their own family members. Finally, it's not hard to learn how to be one, just attend your local church.

What you folks are trying to do is defining what is written 2000 years ago using today's standards. The Israelites are a poetic group of people, so how many different ways can you say the death of someone that would have a positive impact on every person in the world? The "sheading of his blood" for one. does it literally mean his blood or does it simply mean his death? What does it mean when someone says, "His blood is in your hands?" You folks are taking words and phrases too literal, but means the same thing. The bible is surely literal and yet it is not. The words and phrases written by the Jews are both literal and metaphorical.

Very good question Rob.

John Foxe published four editions of "The Actes and Monuments of Martyrs" in 1563, 1570, 1576, and 1583 all printed by John Daye. It was a very famous widely read Protestant book (more commonly known as John Foxe's Book of Martyrs). It consisted of slightly over 2,000 pages that was excellent for doctrine, exhortation, history, and edification for the Church.

Sadly, there are many corrupt editions edited by corrupt editors that have done everything in their power to riddle John Foxe's book with NKJV/NIV, and have cut about 2,000 pages out so only 100 page remains... and even so, it's re-written!

Read the original documents.
Protestants have greatly departed from John Foxe's teachings.

Rom 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

Reconciled by His death, saved by His life. It took His death to destroy the enmity. It took His life in resurrection to save us, otherwise we are still in the death.

"justified by His blood" - Mark_Eaton

You should listen to this man.

Justified (dikaioo) means what? Acquitted, declared not guilty, made righteous, freed, vindicated.

Not guilty of what? Breaking Gods law. Freed from what? The curse of the law. Acquitted of what? Our crimes against God. Made righteous? As righteous as Christ himself.

We are HIDDEN in Christ (Col 3:3)

He died in our place for our sins and was raised again. We have died with Him and will be raised again. This is our hope. This is why we must believe Christ is risen from the dead. A dead savior is no savior at all.

FEAR!

Fear to question what a man has taught us because we are told it would be directly questioning what God has taught them.

Fear to express dissappointment / frustration towards God.

They basically take the LOVE away from God and make him just an all-poweful tyrant.

Isaiah 29:13

Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

A person needs to take responsibility for their own salvation or else condemnation, namely, by learning the contents of the Word of God. For how can a person walk in the light, if they do not know what the light is? Even if a person is illiterate and cannot read or is blind, there is on the market today the Word of God recorded on compact discs and on tapes, so that a person can play them in order to know what the Holy Bible actually says.

//Should we consider any of these verses?// Elder, if someone wants an exact phrase or verse and won't see Scripture for what it means as opposed to the literal words, there is something much deeper.

Rom 3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God, Rom 3:26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

Good job, Mark_e and elder. i love those verses.

remember this there are false teachers who don,t realize they are. Now as to those who DECEIVE,deception is the tool of Satan,he used it in the garden on Eve.Deception has some truth mixed in,this is the main tatic, seduction goes hand in hand witrh the desires of the flesh just as satan did with Eve by promising her that she would be like God by eating the fruit, and as he tried with jesus by offering him all the kingdoms of the world. Temptation is a big factor the flesh speaks loudly, once you allow your flesh to rule your thoughts and decisions you are easy prey.

part 1
the problem is pastors do not GIVE a BALANCE explanation on issues.

ie. a pastor told me that self is SIN the middle of sin is I.
how can you have a relationship when christianity conclude self is a sin?
what about your responsiblities
even christ used the word I when he said Peter it is I!
I is a person first but when you abuse others I becomes sin.
then they will say 'god does not lie' statement to trap you so YOU CAN SAY NOTHING. that is how you get in bondage.
---bill on 8/13/10

part 2

pastors DO NOT GIVE A BALANCE answer

another issue is self confidence
christianity will say 'i can do ALL things with christ confidence'

how can you DO ALL THINGS when you don't have the SKILL?
that verse pertains to CONTENTMENT not being good at what you do at work
ecc says ' sharpen your skills'

again, pastors will say 'god does not lie'. then you are trapped in bondage to shut you up. they are VERY GOOD in quoting verses but does not know HOW TO APPLY IT IN THE REAL WORLD.
---bill on 8/13/10

part 3

MALACHI TRAP. pastors abuse this book. they quote 10% & say 'give your 10% & you won't have room to contain blessings' if you don't you are robbing god. the start of malachi states that IT IS THE PRIEST THAT ROB GOD NOT THE PEOPLE.
they also use this as success principle not sharpening your skills, working hard.
again, they will say 'god does not lie' to shut you up.
if you fail or their quotes does not work, they accuse you of 'YE LACK FAITH' bec. YOU HAVE THE PROBLEM NOT THEM.
malachi also says that the priest are the messengers of god & they STUMBLE PEOPLE.
and I had that experience of BRAINWASHING from a stupid pastor.

Opinion evaporates, where multiple witnesses in scripture support. If one does not believe Moses, the prophets, the Psalms or Jesus himself....the light is not in them.

Luke 24:44
And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

Isaiah 8:20
To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

malachi & 10% is the most abused verse in the bible. it talks about perversion of 10%. it points to the SINS OF THE priests & how they rob god. but since it is in verses, they pick 1 verse & they use it against you like if you don't give your 10% you are robbing god but if you do, you will be rich (they call blessings).
cha-ching. when it does not work, they say: YE LACK FAITH.
most pastors do not talk about working hard, sharpening your skills, sowing/ reaping . just give your 10% & poof. then you will see them driving luxury cars, living in multi million dollar homes & fly in private jets. then they will tell you to be contented with $11.00/hour salary.
this was how I was brainwashed.

THESE BE THE MARKS of you FALSE TEACHERS:

Daniel 7:25 speak great words against the most High, wear out the saints of the most

Jesus told me to tell you that you should worship Him in His entirety--His entire Divine-Human Person--and not isolate His blood from the rest of His person, catherine.

---Cluny on 8/12/10

Rob,

You need to read the books of 2 Peter and Jude.

Jude 1:4 tells us that false teachers turn the grace of Christ into license to sin and deny the Lordship of Christ over our lives. 2 Peter 2 tells us that they deal with sensuality and greed, speaking false words and heresies.

These false teachers plays on our fleshy desires, on our lusts, and our greed. Anyone who teaches you to want money, want comfort, want pleasure, is a false teacher.

Remember what Jesus said in Luke 9:23 "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me".
---Mark_Eaton on 8/12/10

When I quote Scriptures she calls me a liar. Another one is false teachers teaches that there is more than one way of making it to heaven. They never talk about the Blood and how important it is. What's another one, Jesus? You know I have one in my family, maybe two, They keep multiplying. False teacher tell others that God loves them and that everyone is a child of God. This is a lie. She believes that it makes no difference that God never chastises her. And she doesn't worry about it. When a preacher comes by she smiles and talks so different like an angel who just dropped from heaven. And as soon as he walks away, she is back to her old self. Amazing. I saw it with my own eyes.
---catherine on 8/12/10

most false teachers will call you a false teacher or a liar when all you are doing is sharing your perspective. false teachers have a tendency to be a bit sarcastic and will tell others what not to believe.

but, most of all they will not share what they actually believe. Also, they will not admit if they have erred. They will just sidetrack or avoid with silence or non-sense.

true teachers do not claim to be teachers because they know there is only One teacher.

Rob, at the on-slaught of a false teaching, I get up and walk out - but I must tell you, I've only had to do that one time in 27 years of walking with the Lord.

This guy was preaching and he kept saying, "You know I have the gift of discernment, and you know I can call out your sins." I was like, "OMG I'm outta here." Not because I didn't want him to call out my sins because I was actually in another room listending to him on a monitor.

BUT-at the end of the service I realized he was a false prophet - so I booked/ran out of there faster than a cockroach on wheels.

People think they are speaking the truth, but if it doesn't line up with what the Word of God says, that's how you tell it's NOT the truth.
