Are Taser Weapons Biblical

I used to "trust" that GOD would keep the "evil darts" of Satan away from me. After reading about crime just a few street blocks from my home, my "trust" is evaporating. Would it be a SIN for me to purchase, and carry, a Taser weapon? Is my "faith" lacking now?

You have a right to defend yourself. You also have a right to die for your enemies. It's your choice. It seems reasonable to me to carry a weapon, but it's hard to preach the Gospel of love while carrying a weapon.
---Casey on 10/14/10

We are always expected to do the possible and God will do the impossible in our lives. It is possible for us to purchase guns and other weapons for safety. And self defense. I believe in protecting and securing what's mine. I believe guns are ok in the hands of responsible people. I do not believe in killing for the sake of killing. I trust God to take care of me but he expects us to do our part, also. I will make sure me and my family have what we need to stay safe. God will do the rest.

Tasers are a way to subdue a person who is fighting or being uncooperative. Police who use tasers are tased themselves so they will know what it is like. I guess they could hit them over the head with their big stick, or maybe even shoot them.

You are quite welcome Sag. As always, my pleasure.

Sag, fear and faith are opposing sides of the same coin.

Having said that, I do not consider taking precautions against undesirable possibilities to be a lack of faith, but rather an exercise of common sense.
---joseph on 9/26/10

Thanks for your input. I agree here.

People at church can "drive me crazy" with their claims that I'm being "unfaithful" when I tell them about my concerns, doubts about the police, etc.

Thanks Again!

\\How many wives have to live in fear of a husband who has been released from prison? \\

Works both ways, wivv.

My father (6/5) was repeatedly physical abused by my mother (5/1) and he finally left her--leaving me in the care of a woman he told his brother and sister-in-law was capable of murder.
---Cluny on 9/26/10

Christians are different. We are not like the wicked man, who will pull out the taser gun and fire it, not realizing and not caring that there is a God who will judge their wicked actions. Yea, I am bigger, stronger, I got the law on my side. So I will just FIRE. Leave your weapons at home. AhhhJesus+

Sag, fear and faith are opposing sides of the same coin.
One can not be seen if the other is showing, and both are operative in the sense of exerting force, power, or influence. If there is one lesson that I have learned in life, it is this, the thing that is most greatly feared, will likely occur at some point. Therefore I make a conscience effort to live by faith, consummated by love .
Having said that, I do not consider taking precautions against undesirable possibilities to be a lack of faith, but rather an exercise of common sense.

Clunny ... Get your head out of the sand! I've seen too many examples of the law favoring the guilty and punishing the innocent. Example: I know of one case where the husband hit his wife 32 times in the head with a ball-peen hammer and all the judge said was, "Naughty boy", and he was given about 30 hrs of community service. How many wives have to live in fear of a husband who has been released from prison? How many wives have died because the law said he was cured and ready to go back into society and instead, goes and kills the wife. How many prisoners are guily of repeating a crime once released? You are correct about one thing, only heaven provides perfect living, but until than we have to get our head out of the sand.
---wivv on 9/25/10

We are to use spiritual wisdom, at all times. God does not leave His people, ignorant. We are heaven bound but are earth-bound, as of now. When we get to heaven there will be no need for guns and other weapons. For now. If you want to live, you had better carry some type weapon, for your safety. That does not mean you have to go around bullying or threatening anyone. just have something to protect yourself. Just in case. The world is full of weirdos and very evil people. We are living in the last days.

\\While sad, it's true that the law seems to be written more in favor of the criminal and not the victum.
---wivv on 9/22/10\\

Not really true.

The main principle of American criminal law is, "The accused is innocent until proven guilty by due process of law. The burden of proof rests with the prosecution."

This is for the protection of ALL of us.

I'm not saying it can't be abused, or has not been abused.

But no system of law is better than the people administering it. The only kingdom where there is perfect justice is the Kingdom of Heaven.

This seems to be the case in many areas of law.

"....using simple "common sense" is helpful too." (Sag)

Exactly. In a city, you wouldn't cross a street until you look both ways and know that you can cross the street safely. You wouldn't say "I see cars coming, but let me cross, because I have faith in God, and He will protect me from these savage cars".

Using simple "common sense" goes a long way. My friend lives in a house in NJ. He got a security system, lock all doors/windows, and have a good guard dog (trust me, you don't want to messed with him, lol).

I was told when growing up to ALWAYS be alert when walking in the streets, know your surrounding, and know who's behind you, in front, side to side......

I'd check out the legal ramifications of carrying a laser or for that matter, any weapon. You might be better off just learning some sort of body defence. One thing I learned when in the Navy a long time ago, is if you carry a weapon, be ready to use it, don't just threated someone with it. However, you need to be careful, you might get into the habit of "over kill", and that would open you up for a law suit. While sad, it's true that the law seems to be written more in favor of the criminal and not the victum. Concerning your Christian values ... it's not a lack of faith to want to protect your self. The Bible states we are to ask for wisdom, and your situation is a case in point.
---wivv on 9/22/10

Yes buy it,but take lessons on how to use it. It is Biblical,oh not the weapon named, of course, they didn't have them but God didn't sent people out into danger unarmed. It has nothing to do with trust or faith,it is pure wisdom to be prepared. A long time ago my husband was going all over the State sanding Gyms while school was out. I was left alone, therefore,at night I locked my doors, including the bedroom one, went to bed with my Bible and a loaded gun. I was telling someone I knew that and they jumped all over me demanding "Where is your faith?". I said "My faith is fine,God didn't send David out to meet Goliath without a weapon".
---Darlene_1 on 9/22/10

The "evil darts of Satan" are not physical weapons.

My own opinion is that those who take up the taser shall die by the taser, to apply the principle the Lord Himself gave.

And remember what He said about turning the other cheek?

I would trust in God's word before I'd go buy a gun or a taser gun.
---Donna5535 on 9/22/10

I also think that just using simple "common sense" is helpful too.

The guy who was attacked had left his porch door unlocked. I think that the attack was in the early morning hours.

Lock doors, close windows, don't let strangers in when you are alone, etc.
---Sag on 9/22/10

Sag, in Psalm 91, it says, "He GIVES His angels charge over you lest you strike your foot up against a stone."

I would trust in God's word before I'd go buy a gun or a taser gun.

My ex is stalking me and my boss told me to buy a gun "in self-defense." I said, "no because I will go to hell if I murder him" even if he is stalking me, let him kill me and he'll send me right to heaven.

That's my attitude.

Sag, you win either way. If you live, you live for Christ. If you die, you'll be with Christ.
---Donna5535 on 9/22/10

I've talked to some police officers, and a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent about the crime.

The officers told me that POSSESSING a weapon is your "right". However, if you USE that weapon, there had better be TANGIBLE, or PHYSICAL, EVIDENCE that you acted in self-defence, or you're going to be the one "in trouble" with the law.

The news story was that the crook entered the elderly man's home through an unlocked porch door and then physically, and sexually, assaulted the man.

A Taser would have been just the "right" tool for STOPPING the crook in his own tracks.

It seems OK in USA for anyone to carry a gun, so why not a taser?
---alan8566_of_uk on 9/22/10

I would hope that the British forces in the Falkland Islands have Tasers.

If Argentina decides to attack again, it's soldiers can just be hit with Taser jolts and sent back home. Not sure if Argentina is a good, or bad, place to live.

I believe you have the right to defend yourself when attacked using any means availiable.there is a fine line about whether or not your life is actually in danger and whether you have the right to use deadly force
let me relate a short story, years ago when I was a young man living in va driving AAA tow truck late at night I stopped at my brothers gas station to park truck for the night.
I heard a noise behind the station,I went back saw 1 man holding another while yet another was thrashing him
needless to say I interupted AND told the people no matter what the guy did he didn,t deserve what they were dealing out to him.
they let him go.

It seems OK in USA for anyone to carry a gun, so why not a taser?

As for the title put to this blog, of course tasers are not biblical .. but nor are guns, refrigerators or microwave ovens
---alan8566_of_uk on 9/22/10

part 2, another occasion a friend and my self saw a man thrashing on a women we approached and were severely repromanded by the woman for treating her husband so rough
I then told the gent while looking directly at the woman to have at her and walked away.
I also was attacked once on a jobsite in south carolina by a man with a 2z4,after braeking his jaw I was arrested, then released on the agreement I would leave town and not press charges, WhY? cause the mans father was a big whig in murtle beach politics.

Sag, 1st look up the local bi-laws,because in my area it's a criminal offence to carry tasers,or even mace.
Keep a cell phone handy and avoid bad areas especially at night.
Use the "spirit of a sound mind" it's not a lack of faith, just using judgement!
A van carrying many "elders" of a Christian Assembly, crashed yesterday killing several...forget this "Guardian Angel" superstition!

-- Sag :

Brother, The wise man in the storm prays to God, not for safety from danger, but deliverance from fear ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations, knowing this, that the trying of your Faith worketh Patience. So let Patience have her Perfect Work, that you may be Perfect & Entire wanting nothing with Faith strengthened by God's Grace.

Sag, If you lack Wisdom, ask of God and it shall be given you. But ask in Faith, nothing wavering... for he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea tossed & driven with the wind of this world. This man should not think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord, b/c a double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
