Woe to those who enact evil statues [Laws] and to those who constantly record unjust decisions, [to the ones who enforces these laws, also]. So as to deprive the needy of justice And rob the poor of My people of their rights, So that widows may be their spoil And that they may plunder the orphans. Now what will you do in the day of punishment, And in the devastation which will come from afar [God riseth up]? To whom will you flee for help? And where will you leave your wealth? [Isaiah 10:1-3].

"Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you", saith the Lord thy God....There is no blessing for being hated because one is foolish, lazy, untrustworthy, inept, or unfaithful. One might deserve such treatment in these cases. But when one is hated simply because he or she is a good Christian--living the life as a testimony for Christ, then he or she is blessed indeed.[Luke 6:22-23]....Hello Jesus. Welcome. Hope everyone having a great Sunday+

"And the angel answered and said to the women, Fear not you all, for I know that you all seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for He is Risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead." Mt.28:5-7.

"We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain." For as He has said "In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you." "Behold, now is the accepted time, behold, now is the day of salvation." 2Cor. 6:1,2

No, it's not.

\\"The day will come when Judgment will fall upon unconfessed sin ahh Jesus, and in that day the Savior will not be found to make our confession to" [Psalms 32:6-8]. \\

catherine, Psalm (not Psalms in the plural) doesn't say this.

Why do you make up Bible verses, unless to prove what you've said earlier: namely that you "don't need no scriptures"?

"The day will come when Judgment will fall upon unconfessed sin ahh Jesus, and in that day the Savior will not be found to make our confession to" [Psalms 32:6-8]. Please, my Friends, God is real, so is Jesus. And HELL IS REAL. Satan is also real.

---Eloy on 10/28/10\\

Except for the fact that "kosmos" means "world" in this passage, you're ok.

It's obvious you're simply thumbing through lexica (possibly Strong's) to find any meaning of a Greek word that you think will make you look erudite to people who don't know better.

You might benefit from the thread entitled "Pastor is a narcissist" and serious self-examination.

Eloy .. With your erudition, you should by now be able to understand the use of quotation marks.

Cluny did not say "THIS" is a word that means "given"

He said THIS is a verb that means "given"

He was referring back to the word "edothe"

//Paul says study [in old English], what else do you want to go by?//

Paul says to endeavor (in Greek) to show yourself acceptable to God. Academic studying is just one subset of the Greek word used for study.

You can call my study of Greek and of context somebody elses commentary. The Lord knows the Truth.

Does your belief and studies in dispensation come from you or are they based on teachings and commentaries of others?

"Then here a certain legalist stood up and tested him, saying,
Preacher, what doing should I to inherit life eternal?
And he said to him, What is written in the Law? how did you read?
Then he answering said,
You will love the Lord God of you from all the heart of you,
and from all the life of you,
and from all the might of you,
and from all the conscience of you:

Isa. 25:6: I have proof that the wine which Jesus made from water was not fermented. Paul says study, what else do you want to go by?

What do you suppose our apostle was wanting us to study? possibly a commentary?
---michael_e on 10/21/10

rightly dividing in the Greek seems to imply more of correct application of the Word than correct division of time periods.

2Ti 2:14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not (quarrel not)about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers. 2Ti 2:15 Study (strive)to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (applying)the word of truth.

In context, juxtaposiyion of bad strive v. good strive.

2 TIm 2:15 Study (Scripture) to shew thyself approved...

G4704 spoudazo (spoo-dad'-zo) From G4710, to (1)use speed, that is, (2)to make effort, (3)be prompt or earnest: - (4) do (give) diligence, be diligent (forward), (5)endeavour, (6)labour, (7)study.

1) use speed (Scripture) to shew thyself approved...
2) make effort (Scripture) to shew thyself approved...
3) be earnest (Scripture) to shew thyself approved...
4) be diligent (Scripture) to shew thyself approved...
5) endeavor (Scripture) to shew thyself approved...
6) labor (Scripture) to shew thyself approved...
7) study (Scripture) to shew thyself approved...

to study in this sense hardly seems academic.

Psalm 25:9

"For the humble He guides in justice, and the humble He teaches His ways".
---Mark_Eaton on 10/21/10

Young's Literal Translation 2 Tim. 2:15 be diligent to present thyself approved to God-a workman irreproachable, rightly dividing the word of the truth,

I can agree with cluny that neither the word 'scripture' nor 'study' is really in the verse. However scripture is really the word of truth and being a workman can imply studying.
---leej on 10/21/10

//BTW--The word "scripture" is not implied, as your interpolation claims. Neither the Greek word SPOUDON nor the Elizabethan use of "study" imply academic application or pursuits, but rather striving.

Cluny, She obviously didn't or else she has a very sick sense of humor. My favorite passage would be in Romans 7:14-25 and Romans Chapter 8. Of course, I would have to list Psalm 1, 32 and 41 also.
---tommy7376 on 10/21/10

These two scriptures will alleviate a lot of confusion.

Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and SEARCHED the SCRIPTURES daily, whether those things were so.

2 TIm 2:15 Study (Scripture) to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, RIGHTLY DIVIDING the word of truth.
