This confirms Christ declaration - "No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day." (John 6:44) Does this verse sounds like going to Christ is of one's "free-will"? Most definitely not!
---christan on 11/4/10

Read verse 35 an 40, it's free-will:

"whoever believes in me will never be thirsty."v35

"Fathers will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life,"v40

It is written in the Prophets: They will all be taught by God. Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from him comes to me.v45

God draws, Men responds by Beliveing, if not God will Harden them.

Use only the Bible for our answers!!! In the 2nd Chpter of Acts they also asked "WHAT MUST WE DO TO BE SAVED? Peter, Acts 2:38 gave the FIRST message of SALVATION. Acts 2:38 tells us plainly what we must do 1. Repent of our sins. This means to stop and not to return to our old ways.
2. And be Baptized in the NAME OF JESUS CHRIST for the remission of sins. (here is where we have our sins remitted or removed. Do not be fooled by using Catholic formula of Father, Son, Holy Ghost titles, these R not names. The NAME OF JESUS REMITS OUR SINS!. 3. And ye shall be filled with the Holy Ghost (speaking in other tongues) this promise is unto you and all that are afar off (that would be us) and as many as the Lord shall call.

John 12:31-33

Now is the judgment of this world, now is the prince of this world cast out,
And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw ALL men unto Me.
THIS He spake signifying the death He would die

The death He died was on the cross as the final sacrifice for sin. Nobody was left out. Psalm 2 says, "Ask of Me, and I will give thee the nations for your inheritance and the uttermost parts of the earth for your possession." Jesus asked. God answered.

Linda and Ginger,

My sincere apology for misquoting your names.

Back to the matter at hand, your understanding that it was only the 12 disciples that Christ was referring to, see verse 2 of chapter 17, "As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him." 6 "I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world..." Most definitely not!

This confirms Christ declaration - "No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day." (John 6:44) Does this verse sounds like going to Christ is of one's "free-will"? Most definitely not!

In the end the work done will be subject to inspection by the Master Builder. The image is used of testing these things by "fire" What is of worth will stand the test and a reward given. If they were not of worth, they will be seen to be so just as if the fire were to consume them.
---Bruce5656 on 11/3/10

But based on those works "he himself will suffer loss, so as through fire. " And where it is yet where your work and ourself is tested, can't be Heaven nor Hell, and it on the "Day"?

Bruce5656 * Ruben,

Re: Jesus bore that on the cross."

This statement is not intended to suggest that Christians do not sin so it is not contradictory to anything in IJohn.

Ok, but to say sin will play no judgment on us is wrong: 1Jhn 9 tell us If we confess our sins...cleanse us from all unrighteous, what happens if we don't 1Jhn5 :17 "All unrighteousness is sin"

Re: "Almost saved is completly lost."

Bruce5656 * If Jesus were to come today and take away those that are his, we are either saved or lost.

Yes, but those who are saved, are the ones "who endured to the end"( Mtt 10:22)
---Ruben on 11/4/10

MarkV, for some reaason you always bring my intentions into the discussion when you can't think of anything else to say. Why don't you just consider your own intentions since you don't know me? You have falsely accused enough people of either being who they aren't or saying something they didn't say....and then justifying that by saying it wasn't worth the time to ask the Holy Spirit, our Helper, if your assumptions were true before you wasted more time making the allegations. A man who thinks it is a waste of time to consult the Holy Spirit on matters regarding bearing false witness against other believers as you do probably hasn't spent much time listening to Him in doctrinal matters. Doctrine doesn't mean much when it isn't practical.

Says the Lord, "My grace is conditional, not unconditional. When I the Lord you God say: Choose, Obey, Repent, Pray, Fast, Ask, Seek, Knock, Go, Do, Follow me, and Work, all these things are from the creature and not the Creator. And when you all obey and each of you turns away from your own way in order to serve me, then and only then will I give my grace to you. This damnable doctrine from the pit of "do nothing" needs to be thrown out from the churches and out from amnong you, says the Lord. Truly, truly I say to you, if you continue to do nothing, then you will continue to be no part of my body of grace, indeed no part, says the Lord."
---Eloy on 11/4/10

MarkV How you distort what others say ... "And as you said, all souls belong to Him. Thats why I cannot understand why everyone complains when God uses His own right to save whom He wills to save"

No-one is complaining ... not about God anyway.

We try to explain to you John 3.16, Prodigal Son and many others.

"all souls belong to Him" ... that means He gave us those souls ... and if He refuses to save some, He is a denial of His own love.

You say they are "justly punished" ... for behaving/beleiving as God has made them?
---alan8566_of_uk on 11/4/10

Ruben: I find myself agreeing with you. Salvation is not a cheap, get-into-heaven-free card obtained by saying "I believe" in a moment of intense emotions. Logically, one is not "saved" until salvation occurs, at that doesn't happen until Jesus returns for us. Salvation is a three-step, life-long "process". Acceptance of Jesus is the first step - Justification. At this point, our past sins are forgiven, and the direction of our lives takes a turn for the better. Next comes Sanctification, the daily struggle to resist the temptation to sin by relying strictly on Jesus' power. Last of all comes Glorification, the final touch of immortality and the trip to heaven. Only then are we truly "saved".
---jerry6593 on 11/4/10

Christan, It was not Linda that said that. It was me. And thats the truth of the matter.
You need to learn when Christ was talking about all of us and when he was only talking to his 12 disciples. There is some scripture where Jesus is only addressing THEM.
Context, CONTEXT!!!

Linda, What I said is the truth. Jesus was only talking about his disciples in that particular verse. It does not apply to all the gospels. We must look at context when we are reading the Bible. There are parts where God was not addressing us. Its that simple. But its easy to cherry pick a verse and change it to what a person wants.
---ginger on 11/4/10

Romans 10:18-21 KJV
18But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world. 19But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you (Israel) to jealousy by them that are no people (Gentiles), and by a foolish nation (Gentiles) I will anger you. 20But Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not (Gentiles), I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me (Gentiles). 21But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people (Israel).

God totally rectified the non-seekers/non-askers problem by putting Himself right in their path.
---Linda on 11/4/10

Linda, Scripture passages have one meaning God wanted to convey. What Jesus says is always true. When you say Jesus was only speaking to the disciples, He was not,
"He was praying to God the Father." verse 20 is the beginning of Jesus prayer,

"I do not pray for these alone, (disciples) "but also for those who will believe in Me through their word"

Jesus was praying for the disciples and all those who will later believe in Him through the word the disciples were going to bring to them. The whole Bible is for all believers. Linda, you argue against the Word of God just because I disagreed with your abilities of the gifts. Your intention is wrong.
---Mark_V. on 11/4/10

First of all, Christan, you need to check again as to who wrote that. It wasn't me. Second of all, it is MarkV who has the issue with the things spoken to the disciples in the four gospels. Jesus said to His disciples, "And these signs shall follow them that believe....." and went on to tell them what those signs were. Mark argued with me that Jesus was only speaking to the twelve and not us. If "only the 12" applies there, it applies to the whole of the four gospels. I believe He was speaking to every one who wears the name disciple, so the issue isn't mine. Really, you are talking to Mark when you claim someone has an issue with the word "disciple" and who it includes as used in the four gospels.
---Linda on 11/3/10

Char, there are basically "two camps" in existence here and in the world of "Christian faith".

One camp believe and stand by the doctrine of "free-will" - that God has given man the ability to choose Christ for salvation.

The other believe that it is God who chooses and not man, and this was done before the foundation of the world. In other words, salvation is by grace through faith.

May the good and merciful God shine His light in your heart to see the truth in His Word, who is Jesus Christ.

Re: "Almost saved is completly lost."

If Jesus were to come today and take away those that are his, we are either saved or lost. We will either be taken or will not be. If saved there is no judgment for sin. If lost, we will bear the wages of sin - death.

Part 1
Ruben,

I have never heard anyone take ICor 3 to be refering to sin. Paul is discussing building the church. He speaks of being labourers together with other leaders and the people of the chruches are the building stones. On the foundation of Jesus Christ, Paul speaks of building with gold etc. Things of worth and value. vs wood etc. things temporal. In the end the work done will be subject to inspection by the Master Builder. The image is used of testing these things by "fire" What is of worth will stand the test and a reward given. Your welcome Markv.
I appreciate what I do and don't know-understand and don't understand.
In true correction it will keep me humbled before God who has all wisdom.
Again-I do agree at this point with both perspectives. Some do not have a choice, they are set aside for a purpose-while others are given that will and because God knows the heart He is true just and fair by giving that opportunity-in flesh. He knows. To my understanding,we are Without the names that only He knows-there's no position to judge either or.
This is why we edify-one to another in love and try to seek an agreement-the enemy continues to try and divide the kingdom of God.It is the Word that is that two edge sword.

Every bit of salvation is by Gods grace and a miracle. Amen.

The same Lord who died for the sins of all men would not have done so if he did not plan to draw all men to himself as Jesus Christ said he would do. Men do resist that call. Thats why his holy word warns us of the consequences of hardening our hearts and resisting the Holy Spirit.

Some people are just not happy with that.

I could sit here all day long trying to set myself upon a pedestal as Gods "elect" and condemn others because they dont interpret scripture the way I do. However, there are more important things to do, like spreading the truth of his love to the rest of the lost dying world so that they can know the Savior and call upon his name.
---JackB on 11/3/10

Char, thanks for you kind answer sister. What I do know is that if what I answer is Truth, God knows what to do with that Truth. If I am in error, it makes no-one who is lost, more lost.
Here is one part of what you said,
"Repentance starts with Humbling to God-first-then the brethren-God is Love. New beginning-Jn17:22-26."
Here Christ is speaking to the disciples, and not only praying for them but also "for those who will believe in Him through their word" ( v.1 of John 17). And as you said, all souls belong to Him. Thats why I cannot understand why everyone complains when God uses His own right to save whom He wills to save. That He saves anyone is a miracle. They are not happy with that.

Bruce5656* Any "judgment" the Christian will undergo will be about what he did for the Lord but not so much the what as the why. Paul speaks of our work being put to the test and done for self glory now will count for nothing. Anything done for God's glory will merrit reward. Read 1Cor 3.

The work Paul is talking about is sin, assuming you are talking 1 Cor 3:10-17.
James 4:17 says "Whoever knows what is right to do (Works)and fails to do it, for him it is sin. If fact the context before and after this passage Paul tell the Corinthians about thier sins(Chapter 1-6) Besides Paul himself said Both his works and the believer " he himself will suffer loss, so as through fire " v15

---Bruce5656 on 11/3/10

Not true, scripture tell us being saved is ongoing:

"for in this hope we were saved (Romans 8:34 )

"for the word of the cross is folly to those perishing, but for to us who are being saved , it is the power of God."( 1 Cor 1:18)

"for we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved ."( 2 Cor 2:15)

"we believe that we shall be saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus"( Acts 15:11)

" Salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed." (Romans 13:11)

Saved: Past, Present, Future

Thanks Mark and Jack for your replies.
I still encourage to find an agreement. Here is my position.I believe repentance brings remission and although it appears every one seems to know the truth-there are so many differences.I see this as flesh weakness and purpose of God mercy and grace. The enemy continues to attempt dividing the Kingdom. In flesh we are tempted to judge in strife. But the Love of God is so much Greater-In-Christ we Love.
Repentance starts with Humbling to God-first-then the brethren-God is Love. New beginning-Jn17:22-26.Being Yoked(key) together In Christ-the humbled-doorway opens to man from Heaven.Only Humbled before God and the brethren in repentance is the wisdom given. All souls are His-regardless.

Bruce5656* It is particularly important that Christians understand that there will be no judgment of sin for the Christian. Jesus bore that on the cross.

Yes, Jesus bore our sins But as christians:

" but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. if we say we have no sin,we deceive ourselfs, and the truth is not in us. . If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his words is not in us.

A-men. It is not enough to just believe in Jesus, but Jesus tells us how to be where he is, and it is namely this, "Follow me". So how do we do this? Now this is the key, We must lay down our own life, and take up his life in the place of our's. We must crucify ourselves. We must cast ourselves completely down and be broken before him, and cry out to him to save us from our selves. We must take up our own cross and follow after him. My God loves you, dear one, so very much that he wants nothing more than for you to be with him in paradise. Jesus says, "Come to me all you who are heavy loaded and burdened, and I will give you rest, rest to your souls."

Its seems to be a common thing Char for Calvinists not to THINK about who the text is referring to.

Its like basic Bible study skills arent taught in Sunday School any more. Some things are crucial to correctly interpreting scripture and I had to find that out the hard way myself.

When the text was written....

Timing is very important... which is why, for example, Jesus Christ told one of the men he healed to go sacrifice according to the law of Moses. Why? Because HE hadnt shed his own blood yet.

Where the speaker was speaking....
To WHOM he was speaking....
WHY he was speaking on that particular topic...

David, you are a little behind when you said,
Mark
Think about this:
If We have nothing to do with our Salvation,
then God would have nothing to judge us on,on Judgement Day."
.

I will call you brother David, genuine believers will not be judge at "the Great White Throne of Judgment" reserved for the unsaved, the devil and his angels. "For there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ." We will be there at that judgment together with Christ and will be witnesses and help in the judging of the unsaved and the angels who rebelled against God. (1 Cor. 6:2-4.)

I see all souls belong to God.Ez18:4

Roman11(all)According as it is written,'God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see and ears that they should not hear"unto this day.-however-I do believe all will bow(for how long?)as stated.
Phil 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and[things] under the earth.

Char, you asked two questions. Here is the first one,
"are you guys saying you don't know until your life here is completed whether you are of the world or part of the ones Jesus is praying for?"
No. Because we know that His promises are true. We know we have been chosen. No one knows whether they are of the chosen or not, until they are born of the Spirit. They will understand the Truth when they hear it, for they will not be ignorant of the Gospel.
Second you asked,
"Or for those who pray in repentance doesn't matter since they may not be predestinated to be part of one the father had given?"
If they pray with faith and a contrite heart and ask for forgiveness, they are of the elect.

It was Christ who prayed to His Father before His death. And in His prayer to the Father, Christ prayed these Words in John 17, verses

9 "I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me, for they are thine." 24 "Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am, that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world."

And for one to continue insisting "He died the death of every man" when Christ Himself contradicted your doctrine when He prayed "I pray for them: I pray not for the world...". Where then is your "death of every man" in Christ's prayer?

Let nothing be done through STRIFE or VAINglory:...each esteem other BETTER than themselve... Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus,Who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God,But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of aservant, was made in the likeness of men..

The question in this blog is "Rumor has it that the sinners prayer doesn't get you saved, so what does get you saved?"

Answer is: "For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth" (Romans 9:11)

"So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy." (Romans 9:16)

Being saved involves legality mankind needs to treat God's Word as the truth. What God has said he will do we can be certain he will do . Legally God has already provided for our salvation. We know what he has done(died on the cross at Calvary and shed his blood for us) and we know what he has said, so if we follow his instructions,(the instructions can be found in Romans 10:13) then we can be certain of the results. And the results are our salvation in Christ Jesus guaranteed by his word, not my word, nor your word, nor my actions, nor your actions.

He knows the heart.
The prayer that are spoken out are done in agreement with the brothers or sisters In-Christ (word) for the work of God confirmation or an agreement alone between the individual and God himself-verbal or silent.
Matt18:19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven

I don't agree with judging any prayer from anyone.
I am human and subject to error-for this I Praise God for His mercy and grace.

Why only some saved?

Because theres a truth in scripture that a lot of Christians dont want to accept because it might cause them to fear and tremble at the thought that they could turn away from the beautiful gift that God has blessed them with.

Men CAN resist the Holy Spirit of God

Suggesting it was Gods will that man fall into sin is attributing the work of satan to God. IT is blasphemy of the worst kind.

Lucifer resisted. Adam and Eve resisted. We have ALL resisted. Thats why there are so many warnings for Christians in the New Testament. They are not to be ignored and cast away because we wish to just rest in our election. God has warned that our branch CAN be removed. (Romans 11:17-25)

The word of God, believe it, or reject it:
"This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind. having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their hearts, who being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness." Eph. 4:17-19.
Here he is speaking to believers about those who are lost. Now can one of those who is lost love Christ? No. Can one of those understand the gospel truth? No. Can one repent of their rebellion against God before his heart which is blind is change? No.

#2, Paul gives 4 characteristics of the ungodly lifestyles.
"Walk" expresses daily conduct and refers back to what Paul has said about the believers high calling in Christ Jesus (v.1).
1. "the futility of their mind" Unbelievers fail to produce godly understanding or moral living. Their life is empty, vain, blind and without meaning (Rom.1:21-24, 2 Tim. 3:7)
2. "Alienated from the life of God" Unbelievers are spiritually separated from God, thus ignorant of God's Truth.
3. "being past feelings" Unbelievers are morally insensitive. As they continue to sin they become more apathetic.
4. "Lewdness..uncleanness" unbelievers are behaviorally depraved (Rom. 1:28).

I believe apart of God truths survives in every doctrine.
This is an opinion and I would understand if my brothers and sister In-Christ disagree. Here is my position.
My faith rest on God-first and the definitive power of His Word and Spirit we know as Holy.God is a true, just and faithful and fair.I believe no matter how much the enemy twisted the acturally Word of God truth-the truth prevails. He we call-they will come.He has chosen-they stand.I don't think the called and the chosen are completely the same.

David, you said in answer to Donna,
"The question that one who desires to be saved, needs to ask themself is, Why does God choose some and not all?"

The lost do not desire to be saved. They do not seek after God. "For I have already charged that all men, (lost) both Jews and Greeks, are under the power of sin, as it is written, none is righteous, no not one, no one understands, no one seeks for God" all have turned aside, together they have gone wrong, no one does good, not even one" Romans 3:9-12. So the question is bogus. The one's who ask that question are always those who have been saved by God. They want something to do with their salvation.

Once while witnessing in a city park in Laredo, Texas I heard 16 of 19 people I was witnessing to pray a sinners prayer in a little over two hours. Why? Because of me? NO!! Because the Holy Spirit was working in the hearts of those who listened. And so the number one ingredient an absolute necessary ingredient of your being saved involves the working of the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit is working with the willing listener there is no limit to what the Holy Spirit can accomplish. The Holy Spirit speaking can be a still small voice within the listener.

//The sinner's prayer saves//

Jesus saves.

Salvation is in the hands of the Savior and not the sinner.

How to be saved?
After hearing the Gospel, the choice will be yours. We either accept or reject that God sent a saviour who died on a cross for the forgiveness of our sins and rose again to give us life everlasting. HIS name was Jesus Christ.
If we accept this message in faith, God will will give us all a changed mind and heart.(repentance)...We will become a new creation/new life, the old man of sin will die. Salvation will now be yours.
Its all done by HIS grace, through your faith in the work of Christ. We do nothing but just believe/trust in HIM.

Accepting the fact or theory that Christ, was God reconciling the world to himself. Simply stateds if a person and I mean any person i.e., black, white, yellow or green can beleive without a shadow of doubt that God has a son and sent his son to die for the human race, to put us back in right relationship with God saves you. If a person believes that Jesus was God and waited for God to raised him from the dead saves you. If you can beleive that then you are on your way to heaven.

Repentance (confess and turn away from sins) and trusting in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord (boss) is the ONLY thing that brings salvation - Romans 10:9-10, 1 John 1:9 - Everything other than that leads to Hell and NO salvation. Jesus said that He is the way, truth, and life, and NO one comes to the Father but by Him - John 14:6. Jesus also said that if you do NOT repent, you will perish (die and go to Hell) - Luke 13:3.

The sinner's prayer saves: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." I Jn.1:9.

Well of course we need to do something to be saved. We dont save or give ourselves life, we trust God to give us life. WE have to do the trusting IN HIM. Otherwise, what is the purpose to even ask the question, What MUST a man DO to be saved?
THERE IS AN ANSWER and we all know it.
Believe on HIM who HE has sent.
Its OUR faith/trust IN HIM to give us salvation/life.

ROMANS 10,17 So faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of GOD.
( Being in the enviroment of hearing the word, puts you in a position of being save - but there's nothing you can do to get your self saved, Pray without ceasing - but salvation is a gift from GOD )

EPHESIANS 2,8 For by the grace are ye saved though Faith , and that not of yourselves it is a gift of GOD.

What gets you saved?

Donna,
God, and God alone, makes the decision who and who will not be saved.
(Romans 9:16)
It does not, therefore, depend on man's desire or effort, but on God's mercy.

According to many....they save themselves, they.... make the decision to be saved, and then....are saved.
The question that one who desires to be saved, needs to ask themself is, Why does God choose some and not all?

If they learn to Trust in the Holy Spirit, and not the teachings of men to show them the way, they will find the answers to all their questions.
"Seek and you shall Find"

blogger9211, God said "Who soever calls on the name of the Lord, shall be saved" He wants everyone to be saved.
Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Luke 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
So you see, God has called all to be saved.

Many people believe they were saved by saying the "Sinner's Prayer".
But if the "Sinner's Prayer" was able to save us, then we could save ourselves.

So, Why do so many people belive they are saved when they say the "Sinner's Prayer?
Because they are confessing their sin's before God, the darkness is removed, and they are cast into the Light of God.(John 1:7-9)
There is a Stark and Dramatic difference between the light of God and the darkness they were in.

Most never confess sin again after they believe they have been "Saved", and then they fall right back into the Darkness.
Proof?
Take notice of what happens when you confess your sins again.

---David on 10/30/10

You can't get saved you had to be selected by God billion of years ago prior to creation. God picked every one he wanted then so it a done deal all ready. There is no action what so ever an individual can take to qualify them for salvation. God picked some to be in his family and rejected other this is God' right an privilege.

First one must believe in the Gospel of which the bible speaks of and realize that the human being has a soul that is corrupt by sin that has been pass on from Adam. The only way to pass from a judgement from eternal death to eternal life with God is to believe that Jesus death, burial and resurrection was sufficient for the forgiveness of your soul and the only way of attaining this is a 100% sincere belief and request to God asking and receiving this as a gift which can not be earn at any effort.Show your love to God and mankind by learning and obeying his will of which he speaks of through The Holy Scriptures.

okay maybe I'm wrong then...I thought REPENTING of your sins, believing in your heart Jesus is Lord, and as Peter told us to do in Acts chapter 2, verse 38, and then be Baptized.

Repent means to turn away from your sins. COnfess and admit you're a sinner. Believe in your heart that Jesus died for your sins and was crucified for them, and was raised from the dead, and get the Baptism of the Holy Spirit because Jesus said, "He shall lead you and guide you into all truth."

The 3 of you below have skirted around the topic and question at hand, how come? There are many unsaved folks that come here and I wanted to post this so it can be discussed and that the truth come out.
---Donna5535 on 10/29/10

GOD....gets you saved through His Blood. A sinners prayer should be initiated by God and God alone. I do not approve of God's preachers quoting a sinner's prayer, and have everyone repeat it. God must draw you to Him....Just ask the people, if God is bringing you down here, to come on down. And hope and pray that it is God. Come on+
---catherine on 10/29/10

It's the wail of the heart that sees no hope for his eternal soul when thrust upon a future event, that being the soul standing before God in judgment with nothing but mercy standing between them and the eternal pit of a fiery hell.

If God is not merciful there is no hope, but praise be to God the Father of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, who has made a way of atonement for the sins of the flesh, and given the spirit of man new life for the asking in his one and only unique son Jesus Christ.

The way friend is to be joined to Christ spiritually through repentance, surrendering all that you are, have been and will be as worthless before him as long as it remains apart from him. He is life now and forever.

John 3

3. "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

4. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

5. Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

6. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

7. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

A sinners prayer is asking Jesus to forgive you all your sins, and if you are asking with a repentful heart, He will forgive you, and save you..But that does not mean you can keep sining..you must turn from sin. Jesus saves, not works or being a good person.

As a practitioner of using a "copycat prayer" your posts reminded me of many things I have seen.
I have seen and heard a man cussing me as I witnessed to him. It really took me back but the Holy Spirit said to me keep talking and so I did. A few moments later the Holy Spirit said to me ask him now. Which I did and he melted like butter before my eyes prayed with me and was completely convinced of his salvation. Later I asked his wife did he tell her what happened? Yes she said, he told me all night in fact he would not shut up. This man was 60 years old, a lifelong friend, and a hardened Catholic. He remains to this day overjoyed with his salvation.
