Blaspheming The Holy Spirit

I have sinned so much! I keep reading that God will forgive all our sins except one; blaspheming the Holy Spirit. Please what would some examples be of this? I think I may have done this.

Pharisee, A-men.

Any one can blasphemy including christians, but if you are a christian it means that you received JESUS as saviour, you did not blasphemy the holy spirit by rejecting the saviour(jesus CHRIST).
---lionel on 1/17/11

The question is not just blaspheming,it's blaspheming the holy spirit.
Mat.12:31 all blasphemy and sin can be forgiven except that of the holy spirit.
If one deny, reject CHRIST JESUS the only saviour, there is no hope for that person.
That person has just denied the holy spiriT witness of JESUS CHRIST THE only WAY TO SALVATION.
---lionel on 1/17/11

Nonsense I was a Christ denier for thirty years and he saved me.
---Pharisee on 1/17/11

lionel, your words are directly against what Jesus spoke in Luke 12:10 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemes against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.

Pharisee is correct. Jesus was speaking specifically to a group of people whose activities were hidden and continual. Jesus knows against whom he was speaking.

carlo, cluny is right also.

No blasphemer is a Christian, because it is not possible for the Spirit of truth dwelling inside the sanctified temple to blaspheme.

lionel, you have just posted the perfect example of blasphemy. For blasphemy is calling good evil, the truth a lie, and the Holy unholy.
---Eloy on 1/16/11

pharisee is correct, this teaching by jesus was directly attributed to giving credit to evil or turning Gods word,or warping it into evil.directly blaspheming the holy spirit is a denial openly that Dods spirit is in the world.

Eloy:
wrong as usual, pharisee you are wrong on this one

moderator could you set the record right

The Holy Spirit is the ONLY way to Christ & salvation. You must first be drawn to repentance by the The Father Through the Holy Spirit. So if you offend Him or tell Him to leave you alone, you have no hope of forgiveness because you just closed off the only way to get it. He is the one who convicts you when you do wrong. The Holy Spirit is our Comforter, our conscience's guide. Jesus told us He would send a Comforter & that's the Holy Spirit. He our way to get to Jesus & God the Father. BE VERY RESPECTFUL TO HIM.

Please don't let ANYONE cut this from it's context. The context of this teaching is to speak openly against the power of God and attribute it to evil forces.
if we make this sin anything else then it can run all over the place, however this teaching was specific concerning a specific situation of men of authority leading others to blaspheme the work of God openly and cause unbelief.
The best example is given in the scripture. if you take it out of context it could mean anything else. DONT DO IT

blasphemy and rejection are not the same thing, A person can reject and refuse someone without blaspheming them. Blasphemy is not rejection, but dissing, it is verbally maligning them and bearing false witness against them. "Rejection" is like turning your back and walking away from the person, and saying, I don't accept you: but "blasphemy" is like picking up mud and throwing it upon the person, and then saying, you're muddy and the mud on you came from you.
---Eloy on 1/16/11

Saying "No" to Jesus is rejection, and this is not the same thing as blasphemy which says Jesus is the devil. When a person blasphemes they will bring condemnation upon themselves: because by calling Jesus the devil, or the saint a sinner, or the Holy Spirit selfish or imperfect or evil, that blapshemous insult is taken by the Spirit and multiplied and then cast back upon the blasphemer, and their waves of condemnation will continue to return back upon themselves even in the world to come.
---Eloy on 1/16/11

If you think you blasphemed the Holy Spirit, you most likely did not.
---Cluny on 1/16/11

Simply put REGECTING JESUS.

For there is ONLY way to be SAVED, is by accepting JESUS.
To regect him(JESUS)is blaspheming the holy spirit.
---lionel on 1/16/11

You would be surprised how many Christians are scared they have committed this sin.

Since the Holy Spirit testifies of Jesus Christ and speaks only what He hears (John 16:13), I believe the blasphemy that is *against* Him is to claim that Jesus Christ is not God in the flesh and that is the very sin the Pharisees committed by saying Jesus casted out devils by the prince of devils. They denied the only means by which they can be saved.

When I expressed my fear to my church pastor that I had maybe committed this sin, he simply smiled at me and replied "Son, just the fact that youre worried about committing this sin convinces me that you havent." It is the sin that those who have rejected Christ have committed.

Carlos . . . God knows if you have. Trust Him to be the Judge of if you have done what Jesus means. Make sure you don't, by not speaking intentionally against the Holy Spirit. Also, we have this of Jesus to you, "'And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.'" (Mark 11:25) So, make sure you are up-to-date on your forgiving, Carlos. But do this in order to please God, not only for your own self, please. God bless you (c:

"blaspheme" (comes from the words, "blame" + "profess or voice"). Thus "blasphemy" means, to speak evil of or to God, or, evil of or to sacred persons or sacred things: profaning: desecrating words: desecrating speaker: sacrilege: dis: disser: disgrace: malign: mock: defame: denigrate: and so on, and so on. It is having a spirit of desecration, which mockingly ascribes the works of the Holy Spirit to Satan. It is calling good evil, the truth a lie, and the Holy unholy. When God's Spirit genuinely works through a person (as He did through Jesus' miracles), and another person (like the Jewish Ministers and Legalists) disses it or disgraces it, that is blasphemy.
---Eloy on 1/15/11

Blaspheming the Holy Spirit means you misrepresent Him (ie: like saying the Holy Spirit is a woman (like the book "The Shack"), or an "it") - the Holy Spirit is a He and a person. Although there are other things God will not forgive -unrepented/unconfessed sins (John 9:31). The Bible says if we confess/repent of our sins He is faithful and just to forgive and cleanse us of all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9.
