\\His incarnate state, He had a human rational soul and spirit.\\

I've never denied this.

In fact, my first posting on this blog said as much--that if He were fully human, of course He had a human soul in His incarnation.
---Cluny on 2/26/11

David conklin, those that state the trinity of God is in fact three different revelations of the same person at different times are quite franky rejected as trinitarian
ythe simplest way of puutting trinity is three persons ONE GOD. -yet of course this simplified statement does in no way explain trinity in all its facets.these guys are classified with uitarians "however some unitarians will disagree with that.
the details about God however are so complex that i do not believ that we ever will be able to clearly explain God's divine person
---andy3996 on 2/22/11

what is important in this discussion is that Christ Is God made man and now he is at the right hand of GOD. if jesus did not have -or indeed- does not have a soul, then jesus is no longer man. so in believing Jesus as GOD IN THE FLESH, it is obvious we accept he has a soul whoever we are in Christ. not accepting CHRIST God as fully man in all facets, is to seize to be a christian.
---andy3996 on 2/22/11

Cluny, I support you view concerning Jesus. What I believe many do is they read something you write, and misunderstand it. Others like 1Cliff use the pre-incarnate Christ, with the incarnate Jesus, and ask questions to confuse others like, "how can He be talking to the Father if He is God?" Jesus is the incarnate Christ who is everlasting. In His incarnate state, He had a human rational soul and spirit. Matt. 26:38 "My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death" He possessed a human soul. And in a similar statement in John 13:21 in regard to His human spirit it was said,
"When Jesus had thus said, He was troubled in the spirit" it is evident that He possessed a true human spirit.

cluny,

i knew they were called modalists. i just did not know they had a formal name. sorry for asking.

chuck, spiritually speaking, i am not in the sixth grade yet.

most questions are posed with an agenda in mind. in other blogs, you present a few paragraphs and people comment. in this one, only so many words are allowed, therefore, the agenda has to be put is silly question format.

i think most of the othe questions are posed by cnet undercover to keep people on this site.

**//(aka Sabellian Modalists)//

so, those are the people that parallel the Three-in-One with water...sometimes ice, sometimes water, and sometimes vapor?
---aka on 2/19/11**

I've already described them.

WHO SAID THAT TRINITARIANS see The father the son and the Holy Spirit as one person? it is however in contradiction with UNITARIANS THAT WE SEE the distinctiveness of the onneness of GODS' divinitywhilst not loosing site over Gods'apparent triple personality. the three personalities is ONE GOD. do we place Gods in time? NO we place time in GOD.
---andy3996 on 2/19/11

You folks come up with the darnest subjects...Did Jesus have a soul? Gimme a break, of course he had a soul. This is silly, like a bunch of children in 6th grade Sunday school class.

>trinitarians who believe that God (YHVH)and Jesus were the same person!

There may be some trinitarians who believe that, but in fact, Jesus was God incarnate.
---David_Conklin on 2/19/11

Well . . . have we gotten clear about what a soul is? (c: How can we say Jesus had one, if it is not clear what one is? lololololol

When Peter gave the sermon in Acts chapter two, he said, about Jesus, "'he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption.'" (Acts 2:31) So, it seems that Peter understood that Jesus had "His soul", saying this after quoting "You will not leave my soul in Hades," in Acts 2:27.

Of course, what the Holy Spirit means by this "might" not be what people understand and then conclude about this.
---Bill_willa6989 on 2/19/11

\\Sorry Cluny but I lumped you in with the other trinitarians who believe that God (YHVH)and Jesus were the same person!
---1st_cliff on 2/18/11\\

The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are not the same Persons, of course.

But the Oneness (aka Sabellian Modalists) teach that they ARE the same person. Sometimes God is Father, sometimes, He is Son, and sometimes He is Holy Spirit.

The big problem with this, of course, is that they put God into time.

\\Cluny: Do you deny that Jesus existed before His incarnation? Then you deny His very words:\\

I have never said that, and you're doing nothing but slander if you say I have.

But I HAVE said, following the Scriptures themselves in Luke 1, that the Logos was NOT known as Jesus until incarnate in the womb of the Theotokos.

Thank you francis, for that scripture reference. I read it, and the surrounding verses about Jesus praying in the garden, and He did say "my soul." And thank all of you others for your help and comments.

Mark 14:34 And saith unto them, MY SOUL is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.

Yes, Scripture says that the Almighty Lord God Jesus has a soul. He has his own body, he has feelings, he has humor, he loves and he hates.
---Eloy on 2/18/11

5.Acts 2:27
Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

Acts 2:31
He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

Cluny: Do you deny that Jesus existed before His incarnation? Then you deny His very words:

" Blogger9211-- I tried substituting the word "mammal" most places where the NT(KJV)uses the word "soul"
It never did seem to fit.
Should the Scripture have used the word "spirit" instead?
---Donna66 on 2/17/11 "

No Donna66 the error is with the English Translators choosing the wrong term in the rendering from Greek Text. You have to remember that SOUL in old testament Hebrew has a different definition from SOUL in New Testament Greek, English Translators try to use the same English Word for both Old Testament Usage and New Testament usage. if you substitute Spirit for Soul in most New Testament usage you will get a superior rendering closer to the actual meaning in the Greek text.

\\My father and I are not the same person even tho we share the same "nature".
Like all the heretics of old you want to disregard Jesus' own claim that He's Gods "SON" insisting they are the same "person" sheeeesh!\\

Christianity does not teach (nor have I ever said) that the Father and the Son are the same PERSON.

Please show me where I did do so.
---Cluny on 2/18/11

Cluny, Of course they are "the same "nature" as my father and I and his father etc...
My father and I are not the same person even tho we share the same "nature".
Like all the heretics of old you want to disregard Jesus' own claim that He's Gods "SON" insisting they are the same "person" sheeeesh!
Next you'll say that Jesus regards you as a brother, right?, then say that He's Almighty God making you a "Brother of God" being "equals" Total blasphemy!!!
---1st_cliff on 2/17/11

According to Jesus, He had a soul. Mat 26:38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

\\Cluny, What's wrong with Arians...factually?\\

They didn't--and still don't--believe in Jesus as He is, namely of the same nature as the Father touching His divine nature, and the same nature as us, touching His human nature.

Consequently, they don't believe in the real Jesus, which means they don't believe in Jesus at all, and have no salvation.

Will this do for starters?
---Cluny on 2/17/11

my apologies cliff...i read your blog wrong.

\\Jesus WAS a soul (person) before his birth in Bethlehem. He was the Creator of Genesis and Jehovah, the lawgiver of Mt. Sinai. He has always existed.
---jerry6593 on 2/17/11\\

You seem to be approaching Appoliarianism or Arianism here, jerry.

Of course, the early SDAs were Arians themselves.

aka, So he knew Jeremiah purposely...what's your point??? Jeremiah was also a soul!
---1st_cliff on 2/17/11

//No Jesus did not "have" a soul He ,was/is a soul. Like all of us humans!//

Jer 1:4 Now the word of JEHOVAH came to me (Jeremiah), saying,
Jer 1:5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you, I appointed you a prophet to the nations."

then, the speaker of this bible verse is a liar? Is Jeremiah not a witness to Jehovah? Do not all of Jehovah's witnesses tell the truth?
---aka on 2/16/11

Of course Jesus had a soul and one of the best hearts man ever had. Unfortunately, the world loved darkness rather than light.

Well let's see, Jesus wept, so he had emotions.

Jesus repeated scriptures and preached and taught the Word so he had a mind, the mind of Christ.

Jesus laid down his will for his father's will..so he had a will.

What is the soul? Your mind, will and emotions. Yes, Jesus was born with a soul.
---Donna5535 on 2/16/11

Christ was a Soul just as all Mammals are souls from the Hebrew word Nephesh a living creature that breathes air, born alive, and capable of independent locomotion. Of course Christ was a lot more than that.

SOULl and SPRIT should not be used interchangeably, as it is the quality of spirit that make a soul unique

When you die your soul is dead as it is you. At the resurrection of the dead your spirit will inhabit a new resurrection body and you will become a soul once more.

When you are using Soul in a sentence and if you can't substitute Mammal for Soul and have the sentence have the same meaning the you should probably should be using Spirit instead of Soul.

If Jesus had a full human nature, which the Bible makes clear, of course He had a human soul.

One of the early heresies taught that His human soul was replaced by the Logos.

This, of course, denies His full human nature.
