Cliff, you got it completely backwards. You're really hung up on physicality while completely ignoring the dominant spiritual attributes & functioning capabilities of spirit/soul man.

You imply man is no more than a cognitive, physical battery & when it runs down, it's dead ~ end of story. Well, the spirit/soul Cliff will live on (somewhere) long after the physical Cliff dies.

It doesn't add up because you're not counting all the working parts (body, spirit & soul) of man.

Much more could be said, but at this point I really don't know what good it would do. You endlessly run with the same old circular arguments. You're running your battery down & your elder won't be able to help you once that happens.

Leon,**His physical body/flesh was lying dormant (asleep)in the grave**
Yet he had eyes,he could see, ears, he could hear, tongue, vocal chords and lungs (you can't speak without air) a brain (to assimilate these senses and think)
Although all these body parts are still in the grave???? Something doesn't add up here!
What horrendous crime did the Rich man commit that sentenced him to eternity of torture??
Elder,Deep down I think Leon's an OK guy! He answers this wretch!
---1st_cliff on 3/1/11

No Cliff, Jesus obviously didn't "always" speak in literal terms. However, he did occasionally & I believe the parable of the rich man & Lazarus is one such occasion.

By the way, in case you missed it, it's not the rich man's flesh that was being tormented (burned). His physical body/flesh was lying dormant (asleep) in the grave while his very much awakened spirit man/soul burned (agonized) in hell .

I know what you're thinking ~ how can a spirit agonize & thirst? Well, how can a person who looses a limb still feel pain as though it's still there? Only God knows how that works, but it does work.

I forgive you too elder, pock shots & all. :)
---Leon on 3/1/11

Leon My position or..... Ah wait a minute maybe ... yea maybe I need to address Cliff with this statement. I don't want you blowing another gasket near your glasses hangers. So....
Hey, Cliff, it is my belief, based on Scripture, that no matter what your belief is on Hell or Heaven that won't send you to either place. I do disagree with your view on this and a lot of other things. Yet, you profess Jesus as your Savior. If you are Saved the Bible way then I'll see you in Heaven. We won't ride an airplane to get there either.
Forgive Leon. He has issues with issues.
God Bless.

Leon,Do you believe that Jesus always spoke in "literal" terms?? Never used figuratives ,symbolisms or illustrations??
I personally ,from my studies, read Jesus seldom using "literal" terms!
I guess these are our major differences!
You're no alone ,Gordon is much more vivid in his description of the horrors God has in store for the crime of disbelief!
---1st_cliff on 2/28/11

Cliff: You're living in a really bad dream (nightmare). If you don't wake up soon it will go from "really bad" to worst. Your nightmare (torment: hell upon earth) is hinged on the devil's perpetually lying to you, twisting & undermining the words of God.

I'll always believe Jesus' parable as pertains to a literal, burning hell over your (or anyone else's) fablized attempts to rationalize away what He has said. Because you don't want to believe Him, you envison & embrace the devil's lies (nightmares).

Be scared, be very scared of "hell-fire" Cliff. Wake up (repent)!!!
---Leon on 2/28/11

C'mon Leon, settle down, You know I'm not a vengeful person.
If I didn't care about you I wouldn't talk to you!
It's your belief in a literal "hell fire" that scares me,because it "defames" our loving God!
He is not the sadistic fiend that you paint Him.
Death is the wages of sin not torture!
Sort out the difference between "literal" and "figurative" and you'll begin to see the light!

Wouldn't both the pot and the kettle be black?
---micha9344 on 2/27/11

Says who, "YOU" Cliff?! Pleeeze, give me a break! :) Does this mean we're not friends? :D

You really want pay back (revenge), don't you Cliff? That's really it, isn't it? That's your "angry man" blog mentality, not mine. Very sad!

I've been on CN blogs for quite a while & have read many of your unbiblical tirades ~ not pretty at all! So, your false piety won't work now bud. You're just a pot calling the kettle black. :)

You can't depress, oppress, harrass or otherwise mess with & walk on the Jesus in me. I know your misguided tricks. (Eph. 6:11)

I don't mean you or anyone else on the blogs any ill will. I do, however, have a very low tolerance for dishonesty (deception). Repent! :)
---Leon on 2/27/11

Leon, You're the "angry man" in the scriptures you cited.
Just look at the way you shouted at me in very LARGE letters! get your emotions under control or you could make yourself ill!
---1st_cliff on 2/27/11

It is written: "Don't become friends with an angry man, & with a furious man you shouldn't associate with, or else you'll learn his ways, & get a hook [devilish snare] in your soul." Pv. 22:24-25

It is written: "An angry man stirs up strife [brawls, quarrels, sews discord], & a furious man increases in rebellion. A man's pride will bring him low, but honor will uphold the humble in spirit." Pv. 29:22-23

Leon when someone like me asks you a question that you have no answer for it is best to reply with, "Your holier than thou questions & comments are really silly Elder, so I won't dignify them with an answer."
Oh yea, well, that's what you did. You did answer. Thanks, because your answer tells so much.
Sure is aggravating when the only one you have fooled is yourself Huh? Sweet dreams.
Every thing we need is revealed in the written Word of God. Dreams cannot be trusted. The sooner you learn that the quicker you will be able to answer the hard questions.

Not all dreams are visions from God. Most often they are manifestations of worldly concerns and desires. This is not to say that God does not use dreams, I have had several that God used to bring me comfort. but I do not believe that my nightmares about my time in VietNam are Godly visions.
---Harold on 2/26/11

Shira: Why did Elder, the so-called "Godly man", attack me on 2/18? Wasn't he disrespectful to me or was that just okay with you?
---Leon on 2/25/11
Leon all I did was to ask you a question. If you think that is an attack then you are really self conscious and sure need help.
Being nasty to Shirl or anyone else will not build your stature which I really think you need.
So I ask you again, Who said that God is giving you visions?

"Who said that God is giving you visions? 'I' doubt it."

You know Elder, you really didn't have to take a pock shot at me. :) You could've just ignored my question & moved on to ones more to your liking. But, it was in your heart to strike a mean spirited blow. Why?

Your condemning comments certainly aren't Christ-like correction (reproof) from the Bible. We "both" would do well to read & heed what the Bible says. You think?!

A sigh for those who love me, a smile for those who hate... :)
---Leon on 2/24/11

francine, what you said is the most foolish thing I ever heard. The bloodline of Jesus Christ is complete and He was born perfect. What has that to do with nightmares. I don't think God will cause me to fall and keep falling, loose my vehicle while I am at church, and my worst nightmare is wrecking and hearing metal crunch. All these I have had more than once and no one will ever tell me it is from God and satan has to have God's permission to bother me.
---shira3877 on 2/24/11

"Ahhh yes ~ the great & powerful elder has spoken! Come out from behind the curtain little man. :)"
Thanks for the complement little Leon.
I invite you to come out of the darkness and read the Bible in its own light. Then your dreamy daze questions will be answered.
If the event doesn't agree with the Bible then it is not of God. There is nothing new under the sun. Too bad you don't know that.

dear candice, do you investigate the bible to make sure that your thoughts are really revelations from God? and what references, your pastors and teachers do you lay these thingsd before them for investigation?

Mark 3:27 No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man, and then he will spoil his house.
Luk 11:22 But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.
1Joh 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded [is] death, but to be spiritually minded [is] life and peace.

Andy I know what God shows me. I walk with him everday,i do know what God teaches me & I have had visions & lessons from God. Our mind is weighed down by our thoughts and problems so when we sleep sometimes we are confronted by our problems & God does point them out. it is up to us to learn from them & move on.
---candice on 2/22/11

candice you are comparing God to a daemonion -guiding spirit in Greek Mythgology- investigate what you said look and investigate what is a daemon to greeks, and you'll find God does not work that way.

A Christian Nightmare is when the wicked rule over the children of God and block the light from the bloodline
---francine on 2/20/11

Gen 40:19 Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall hang thee on a tree, and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee.
Gen 41:8 And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled, and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof: and Pharaoh told them his dream, but [there was] none that could interpret them unto Pharaoh.
Gen 20:8 Therefore Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ears: and the men were sore afraid.
Alot of the visions and dreams God gave would be considered nightmares.

Any dream may have one of the three following sources,
1. our own psyche
2. the spiritual world of darkness
3. God speaking into our hearts.
if the dream comes from our own psyche, then there's nothing wrong, it is a nessecary process of coping with experiences. (lack of space makes me to simplify allot. when a dream comes from God, it is a warning or a calling that is mannifested. when it is from the devil, then it is usually a destructive dream with destructive results.
---andy3996 on 2/19/11

Ps 91:5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night, nor for the arrow that flieth by day,

Dreams and visions are Biblical and have three different possible sources. God can trouble you in a dream of an informative or instructional manner. Such as Joseph in OT or Mary in the NT.

They can come from within from ones subconscious stemming from worry, frustration or as simple as your last thought before falling asleep.

It can also be of a satanic influence, not necessarily due to any gate way you have opened to the spiritual unrest of satan, but as a vehicle use to attempt to afflict Gods people with fear and terror.

God Bless, Paul

Our Father does communicate personally with His own children, more and better than any human father could. So . . . speak for yourself (c: He guides us "continually" > us includes our dreaming, if we are obeying Him and submitting to Him. I think of how a screen saver keeps the screen alive so it does not burn set images in it. Possibly dreams help keep our minds from totally shutting down during sleep, and keep us conditioned, like a screen saver does for a computer. But it's past finding out, since God's ways are "past finding out," though (Romans 11:33) (c:

Dreams are from our everyday life experiences. From movies we watch to the activities we do. Some Dr's. say that dreams are a way for the body to release stress. IF God gives you a dream or vision, there will be NO DOUBT where it came from. He will make it perfectly clear to you. So if there's doubt or wonder... it's not God, it's your brain being active on it's own. :-)
---Reba on 2/18/11

Nightmares are Satan's visions and dreams. They come from you opening the door to Satan by what you watch (TV, movies), listen to (music), read (books, magazines), and play (occult games - ougie boards, dungens and dragans, taroh cards, etc.). Our eyes, ears, and mind are doors that can be opened to God or to the devil.

The Bible covers a period of some 4,000 years, and there are at least tens of thousands of people mentioned in it.

And yet, there are only 12 dreams of any spiritual significance in it.

What does this tell you?

Most of our dreams, including nightmares, are simply products of our own minds.
