Yes. Through Jesus' name we have power over any spirit attempting to overcome us. However, if you've left yourself vulnerable to possession, you may lack the spiritual strength to cast out the spirit yourself. You can strengthen your spiritual armor and try, but you should also seek help, and counsel. The longer a spirit is allowed to live with you, the harder it will become to remove. Get others involved. Even if they're skeptical, ask them to pray for you. Have family, friends, and if possible, a priest or pastor present. Exorcism can be dangerous, and should not be taken lightly. It's vitally important, though, to take spiritual authority over your body. This is what will ultimately remove the spirit and keep it from returning.

\\Those who believe it is impossible to exercise themselves have no messages from the Holy Spirit.\\
You actually think you do, mima?
**I find that exorcising myself very difficult.**
I see no indication that it's ever worked, Pastor Herb.
---Cluny on 3/26/11|
I find that exorcising myself very difficult. I really hate to get on the tread mill!! But I find it is the only way to expell fat.
---Pastor_Herb on 3/19/11|
without experience one can say anything, I have even heard people say just speaking in tougues expel demons well I konw for a fact this is heresy.
Jesus the Son of the Living God dealt with not only demons but the devil himself(evidence) knowing who he was why did they just not leave No he HAD to Command them to either get out or demonstrate through the word afore written authority.
So This is where (experience) comes in. Only through Authority can one expel demons. No one is any better oe worse for either expelling them or not experiencing them.
The Holy Spirit functons to to teach you all truths not expel or perfect you from the wiles of evil. That simply is not true theres no scripture to back that statement up.
---Carla on 3/18/11|
If one is indwelt with the Holy Spirit, there is no room for a demon and then no need for exorcism.
If one is not indwelt with the Holy Spirit, it is impossible for him to save himself.
So, in either case, it is either impossible or needless for a person to exorcise himself or herself.
---micha9344 on 3/17/11|
The statement,"mima, very few people are open to the deliverance ministry and demons and how they operate and unless the Holy Spirit REVEALS things to you, one can't "see" things in the spirit realm." by ---anon on 3/1/11 is very true. Those who believe it is impossible to exercise themselves have no messages from the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit that reveals signs to mankind today.
---mima on 3/17/11|
Well I have to say yes you can because when my sister had this spirit in her house bother her I could not help her anymore she had to tell it to leave her because she did not feel it necessary to confront it.
I could see it was going for possession because her eyes were glossy and she said it was all over her, when she called on Jesus's name and commanded it to go she fell exhausted even prior to marriage in the church with the pastor it turned the lights off when the switch was in the vestry they were in!
It was not until she modified the prayers from demonbusters that she was delivered and continues to pray if she feels a threat. She since moved from the house and has had no more occurances.

Strangely that Christ frequently expelled demmons from those that where in synagogues.
---andy3996 on 3/14/11|
Good point, ZedEx.
---Cluny on 3/11/11|
I agree with Cluny, I would have to say no. In order for you to exorcise a demon, you would have to believe in the One who had the ability and the authority to do so.
If you believe in Him, do you not have His Spirit inside you, are you not the temple of God?
Where is there room for Satan to dwell? Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. Must Satan not first bind the strongman? Can this be done?
Now, if you are possessed, chances are you are not a believer, and therefore cannot save yourself, nor call on the One that can save in whom you do not believe.
Worry not, God will send relief, for He knows your situation and will be giving you an opportunity to glorify His name. Beautiful are the feet of them...
---micha9344 on 3/10/11|
If a demon is coming against you, then before he can get a foothold, you need to be prepared. How do we prepare ourselves? By prayer. God has told us that we will be able to step on snakes and scorpions and they will not harm us. Why can't they harm us? Because we've been out in the desert, walking on hot sand and rocks, and our feet have gotten really tough.
---ZedEx on 3/10/11|
"Is it possible for a person to exorcise themselves?"
In and under the authority of Jesus. Yes
"Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you." Luk 10:19
"Paul shook off the snake into the fire and was unharmed." Act 28:5 An event that took place in the natural, however speaks volumes spiritually, to those who have an ear to hear.

I didn't mean to offend you,
I wasn't trying to put words into your mouth as much as make an observation due to past post I've seen on here indicating demons aren't real.
But my brother you don't need to condensed to me to cause me to understand.
I see some responses on here that are anything but Christ like, and if you perceived mine as such I apologize.
My belief is that God casts out demons through His power and His people, If they contain His power no matter who they are.
---paul on 3/3/11|
Donna, thank you but i do not believe I'm wrong, as i said in who's name do we expell? when the demon is expelled who do we say liberated us? obviously we do all in Jesus name, so it is Jesus who does it in and through us. unless you expell in the name of DONNA. you should try that once and tell me what happened
Again we are hidden IN CHRIST we enter to the father THROUGH CHRIST our salvation is in Jesus NAME. therfore no other name is given then the name of Jsus.
---andy3996 on 3/3/11|
\\You believe in God you better believe in demonic forces, for their just as real and prevalent.\\
Did I say I did NOT believe in demons?
Please quote me exactly.
Let me put my answer another way:
One can cast demons out of himself the same way he can save himself.
NOW do you understand?
---Cluny on 3/2/11|
andy3996 on 3/2/11 you are wrong. Jesus specifically said, "Behold I've given you authority to trample upon serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy so that nothing shall injure you."
"And greater works than these shall you do."
andy, Jesus did give us authority over the devil. It says it right there in that scripture I just quoted which is in the Gospel of Luke.
---Donna5535 on 3/2/11|
Once a demon has a foothold, no.
It's much better to resist the devil in the first place.
Jam 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
1Pe 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Know your weakness, for that's where the enemy attacks
2Cr 2:11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
---Donna66 on 3/2/11|
It depends on whether the demon or demons are oppressing or possessing the person, for I recall a time when I was targeted and greatly oppressed by demons, and I knew that I needed others to help. So I called up whom I knew was a Spirit-filled pastor at a church, and I told him that I needed him and the elders to fast and to pray the day before service, and I also would fast and pray, and then the next day I will come up front and I will be anointed with oil and the elders will lay their hands upon me and pray over me together with with the whole church so that I could be delivered. And he agreed, and God's awesome and powerful light broke through that yoke and I was greatly delivered.
---Eloy on 3/2/11|
To Those who said YES. can you excorsize your self? the answer is NO, not when you use the name of Jesus. it is Christ that expells any demonical activity. if, or not, you are assisted by a minister. all glory goes to Christ. a good book is written by Prince (not the singer. he has a german first name and was brittish. it is one of the best books ever written on the subject and you should try to obtain it.
---andy3996 on 3/2/11|
I never read of Jesus casting brains out, but after all that's mans job to cast them out.
Men have indoctrinated congregants to the point of ignorance to the spiritual aspects of deliverance.
You believe in God you better believe in demonic forces, for their just as real and prevalent.
God Bless, Paul
---paul on 3/1/11|
In exactly the same way you can perform brain surgery on yourself.
---Cluny on 3/1/11|
mima, very few people are open to the deliverance ministry and demons and how they operate and unless the Holy Spirit REVEALS things to you, one can't "see" things in the spirit realm.
To answer your question, YES, a person can command a demon to come out in Jesus name. However, demons are stubborn and know if that person really wants to get rid of them. Secondly, a person has to fall out of agreement with that demons, the habits of it.
---anon on 3/1/11|
Of course ~ I exercise myself daily!
Do woodchucks really chuck wood Mima? :/
