OK To Call Other People Holy

Of Holiness scripture says, in Revelation 15:4," Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee, for thy judgments are made manifest." Do other besides the Lord deserved to be called holy?

The word holy in the context of Rev. 15:4 is defined as undefiled by sin, as free from wickedness and is applicable only to Jesus as the fulness of the"Godhead" bodily.
As applicable to man or things the word holy is defined as sacred, and used to describe that which is set apart for service in the kingdom of God.
As for as deserving to be called holy, that which the Father sets apart for Himself or in His service, He himself has said that it "shall be called holy" or Sanctified.
As a point of reference "it is written in the law of the Lord, "Every [firstborn] male who opens the womb shall be called holy to the LORD" Luke 2:23 from Exd 13:2,12

Do you accept Scriptures where people, places, and even objects are called "Holy"?

We all know why you started this blog and it has nothing to do with gaining knowledge of Scriptures.

But in any case, we proved you wrong with the Bible once again.

"therefore we arrive at the question why do you not also believe that which is in the Bible three different times in three different place"

It the question is who do not believe the Bible, you win. You follow traditions of men (such as Sola Scriptura/the Sinner's Prayers/Altar Calls/etc).

I have asked you many times to show where in Scriptures can we find the phrase "the sinner's prayer" which you used so often in this site, but you have yet to give any Scripture.

Why do you keep saying non-biblical phrases? Don't you find it a little hypocritical when you denounce the RCC for following non-biblical doctrines/words/phrases, but you are guilty of the same?

\\Cluny could you please give us your opinion concerning "holy" water? Do you yourself use "holy" water?\\

In typical fashion, when mima's question is answered according to the Bible, which shows that his assumption behind the question in mistaken, he deflects and tries to change the subject.

mima, if you want to discuss holy water, start a thread on this matter.

THIS one, that you yourself started, is talking about calling PEOPLE holy, and, unlike you, I intend to stick to the original subject.

Ignatius, I disagree with you on many things.

However I do agree with you 100% the "SINNER'S PRAYER" is not found anywhere in SCRIPTURE. It is not from God, but a man made tradition and doctrine.

I kindly and respectfully ask if you know what is the MYSTERY OF THE GOSPEL which the Apostle Paul wrote about in his letters to various Churches?

I never said I do not believe Saint Paul, but unlike you, I take Scriptures as a whole. Do you these Scriptures: Scriptures such as Matthew 7:21, Luke 23:41, John 3:19-21, Rom. 8:13, 2 Tim 4:14, Titus 3:8,14, Rev. 22:12, Matt. 10:22, 24:13,25:31-46, Mark 7:1:23, Mark 13:13, etc?

Do you believe Christ (Matthew 7:23)?

Where in the Bible can we find the phrase "the sinner's Prayer"? You use that phrase a lot, but I can not find it my KJB. Is it in yours, mima?

One hear the Gospel (Rom 10:17), believe the Gospel (Acts 2:38a), repent (ibid, Acts 16:31), obey the Gospel (James 1:22), receive Water Baptism (ibid, Mark 16:16, etc), receive Christmation ("laying on the hands"), and strive to reach theosis, by the Grace of Jesus Christ.

Salvation isn't based upon a past moment of confession. It is a past event (Ephesians 2:8), an event currently active (Philippians 2:12), and a future event (1 Peter 1:5).

However, mima would like us to believe that by saying a prayer (a work), even if he or she is not sincere in their confession, one is saved. Belief and adherence to the Gospel is not necessary, only a verbal recitation of the "sinner's Prayer".

---Ignatius I agree that it's in the Bible I assume you agree that it's okay to believe it if it's in the Bible, therefore we arrive at the question why do you not also believe that which is in the Bible three different times in three different places. Namely,
" For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved "?

"And the priest shall take holy water in an earthen vessel, and of the dust that is in the floor of the tabernacle the priest shall take, and put [it] into the water:" (Numbers 5:17).

It's in the Bible, Mima.

Added to what Cluny said, in the OT, many places/objects were deemed Holy, including water (Numbers 5:27, "Holy Water").

Do you accept Scriptures or does your Anti-Catholic agenda clouds your judgment?

According to Jesus, there are things other than God that are called "holy."

Matthew 7:6
Matthew 24:15
Matthew 25:31
Romans 11:16
Romans 16:16

There are people the Bible calls "holy."

Romans 12:1
Luke 2:23
Mark 6:20
Luke 1:70
1 Corinthians 3:17
1 Corinthians 7:14
1 Corinthians 7:34
Ephesians 1:4
Colossians 1:22

There are other passages I could list, but you get the idea.

So, mima, if you think that only God can be called "holy," the Bible disagrees with you again.

(Just one more time out of many things you've said here where the Bible has proven you wrong.)
---Cluny on 3/14/11

God is HOLY and the barometer by which we gauge Holiness.
But we also are sanctified Holy by the washing of the Blood of Jesus.

That is why we are called saints of God or sanctified by God.

Prophets of old were called Holy for they were sanctified (set aside) by God.

Just a few examples:

Mt 25:31 "When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.

Lu 1:70 As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets, Who have been since the world began,

Eph 1:4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,

Mr 6:20
1Co 7:14
Tit 1:8

I would have to say no,and to add only God is righteous,as a believer in jesus we are made righteous in Gods eyes by what jesus did,but we are not righteous ,just forgiven.

Clearly not. We are only human and like this verse says plainly, "thou only art holy".
