Group Of People Call On God

Second Chronicles 7:14,
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, etc." Is this promise limited to a group or could it apply to an individual?

//It was given ONLY to the Israel after the flesh that then was.

It is not applicable to any group today, still less to an individual.

If you doubt this, read the context. Remember, without the context a text is just a pretext.

Amen Cluny well worth repeating

The only way you can understand this is to properly identify the "My people" and "their land".

And the context shows this.

You and I pray to GOD individually. We also collectively....and will more and more as these times get worse.

Collective: "a people" in the last sentence below. They, their, them a people. A collective national house of.
Hebrews 8:10
For this is the covenant that I will make with the "house of Israel" after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into "their" mind, and write them in "their" hearts: and I will be to "them" a God, and "they" shall "be to me a people":

\\Cluny: does the orthodox rites not impose collective prayers? so if that is obsolete then aqll masses and services are bbecome obsolete as well.does it not?

This passage of the Bible is talking about something completely different from what you are dragging into the conversation.

The only way you can understand this is to properly identify the "My people" and "their land".

And the context shows this.

Cluny, so when God says, "My People" he isn't referring to Gentiles who are Born again of the Spirit of God, bought by the Blood of Jesus, redeemed, justified and sanctified in Christ Jesus? Isn't God the same yesterday, today and forever? So do I or don't I have to humble myself and pray, and seek God's face and turn from my wicked ways, etc?

That particular verse was to a specific group, but the act of forgiveness applies to all...

Jon 3:8 ...let them call out mightily to God. Let everyone turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands. Jon 3:9 Who knows? God may turn and relent and turn from his fierce anger, so that we may not perish." Jonah 3:10 When God saw what they did, how they turned from their evil way, God relented of the disaster that he had said he would do to them, and he did not do it.

But, what is most interesting is the question of who the speaker is in 2 Chron 7:14. "I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, etc"

The LORD hears from heaven? Who is the Lord and who is in heaven?
---aka on 4/1/11

The principle of that verse is not lost for this generation...("I hear from HEAVEN" and send My Son to "forgive their sin").

God wants us to understand "principles" in order to get the true understanding.

Hebrews 5:12
"to teach you again the first PRINCIPLES of God's word".

The PRINCIPLE is not irrelevant, but He did make a NEW covenant.

Jeremiah 31:31
"the days are coming,...when I will make a new covenant" 32 "my covenant which they broke"...33 "I will put my law within them"...as taught to them by the Holy Spirit.

Set your heart right with a PERSONAL and private devotion so as not to be misled by "GROUP" thinking/devotion.

Consider ...doing a search & long pause.... on your pretext of context. Note instead the thousands of precepts....of "my people".
Ezra 3:11And they sang together by course in praising, giving thanks unto the LORD, because he is good, for his mercy endureth "for ever" toward Israel. ....
Luke 1:68 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, he hath visited and redeemed his people,
Psalm 53:6 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When God bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

Heb 8:8....

Most believers have a PUBLIC and IDENTICAL relationship.

If you kiss yourself every day, then, in practicing the faith, you should also kiss other people every day, BUT IF YOU ARE SANE you will not show love to yourself, so then you also should not show love to other people, only be considerate of them.

EVERYTHING concerning the "faith" that YOU personally have SHOULD BE PERSONAL (no matter what you or anybody else have come to believe or are taught)...

Romans 14:22 "keep between yourself and God".

"But when you pray, go into your room". (Matthew6:6).

...that God may be EVERYTHING to EACH person (1 Corinthians 15:28).

Do YOU desire "PERSONAL" or "GROUP"?

this is a personal individual promise...
---kevin5443 on 3/31/11

It is now addressed to everybody, and to all individuals
