What do you feel causes the vast array of differences in peoples belief systems and how they perceive and interpret data. I'm not trying to cause a riff, I really wonder mechanically what makes us tick differently?

Every person starts out with a unique genetic make-up unduplicated in anyone else. Genes determine much more than eye color or body type.
Studies show, for example, that qualities of timidity and fearfulness are inherited, as is introversion or extroversion.
Such traits can be modified by life experiences, but the basic personality remains... even from birth.
(any parent of 2 or more will agree)
Sadly for years, we have blamed (or credited) parents entirely for the personalities of their children. Too often, this has been needlessly guilt (or pride) provoking.
We do not enter life a blank slate. In the end, we are largely responsible for what we do with the potential we are given, which only the Master Programmer knows.

I cherish old people so much!
I remember when I was younger I would go to this old black neighborhood in Florida. There was an old diner where I had breakfast every day. I heard stories about America from the old folks. Stories I will cherish in my heart forever.

Stories of slavery directly from the sons of sharecroppers, Old Jazz and Blues artists forever unknown, baseball and the southern Gospel lives of old black folks.

There was a man, his name was Ace. He would not let me leave for the day until he told me my horoscope. He'd warned me when it was a bad day! It was a place in time I will keep in my heart.

How I wish we would have a Black American for President one who shared that history.

people are different because there are many factors that contribute to the person's well being such as environment, experiences, family influences, education, religion.all of this play a role in how one perceived things

We are who we are by the accumulation of every bit and piece of everyone we meet and every event we experience.
---Steveng on 4/22/11

Paul, every experience, from the time we are in the womb to the time we die, builds up who we are. Starting in the womb, whatever the mother experiences (the laughter, crying, what she hears, tastes, feels, sees, smells) contributes to the beginning of personality. From the time the child is born until it's eight years old sets 90% of it's personality. Each person the child meets and each event the child experiences adds to or takes away from the personality. There is not one person in the world who meets the exact same people and experience the exact same events - not even twins.

Paul: It isn't a matter of physical mechanics, but rather the sin condition of our individual hearts (spirit/mind/soul). We all process data thru what we're willing to believe whether those beliefs be true of false. Ethnic group cultures are rooted in environmental belief systems & practices, some good ~ some bad. God has given us all free will to personally choose our manner of individual behavior. Therein lies the differences.

I agree their is only one truth and that is the truth Christ Jesus.

For the most part men desire to change the word to suit them as opposed to changing to suit the Word.
Mt 21:44 And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

I heard it said once that God made man in His image and man returned the favor.

God Bless, Paul

God willed it to be that the body be divided.

Christ said a house divided can not stand.

We are different because God willed it so. He created individuals even in the angels.
---larry on 4/18/11

paul, I believe it's because satan has blinded people's eyes and they believe things to be true that are NOT true.

Jesus said in John Chapter 17, THY WORD IS TRUTH. Man does not live by bread alone, but by EVERY WORD that comes out of the mouth of God.

We need to beleive ONLY the word of God and nothing else.

People believe what they want to believe and not God's word, thus the array of differences in beliefs.

Bill Willa6989 ---// Each person is so unique. So, then, why do they go along with being cloned in their of different groups? //

If they saw it as you do, i.e. "being cloned in their different groups", I'm sure they would not choose to do that. Nobody see themselves as a "clone'! They gravitate to people with whom they have things in common. Every one, I'll bet, would tell you they are unique. They do not go along with being "cloned".

Your view is a pejorative one from the outside.
---Donna66 on 4/16/11

Enjoy discovering how each person is unique, deeper than how they have surface differences in beliefs. Each person is so unique. So, then, why do they go along with being cloned in their of different groups? I'd say because this world's people in Satan's kingdom are being oppressed to be in groups all alike so they can be easier to manage . . . without Satan and his rulers having to deal with each personality's special characteristics, interests, problems . . .

So, don't be fooled into worrying about how different people are being cloned in different groups, but get to know each one and be guided by God who knows how to love and do good with each person (c:

If I could answer that question I would be a super rich woman.Or a top psychologist with a hefty salary. My money problems would be over. Some things we will never understand or know the answer to. This may be one of them.

Paul-- I don't think it's as much a matter of mechanics as it is brain chemistry. Even healthy newborns show individual differences in their responses. This is true even of identical twins.
Only in the hard sciences (i.e. physics, chemistry) and math, is the same data interpreted the same way all the time.
Belief systems are ever so much more complex.

it's interesting to me that different people can read the same book, the Bible, in the same language, translation and from the same cultural standpoint... and come to almost opposite conclusions. Perhaps some of our beliefs are not as cut and dried as we imagine.
---Donna66 on 4/16/11

Most human thought is SUBJECTIVE (BIASED...the mind works the way we WANT IT TO).

God designed scripture so that the individual could learn from it IF AND WHEN the individual so desired to LEARN. God had Pilate ask Jesus "What is truth?" (John 18:38). The OBJECTIVE truth was that Jesus was INNOCENT (so declared by the state), but the crowds were stirred to "riot" (only the insightful readers pay attention and LEARN.

So it is not just PERSONAL perception that causes problems in the world, it is also MOB MENTALITY.

"Wisdom" is good (but also offers too much opportunity for PRIDE (Proverbs "get understanding" of HOW and WHY things work).

John 14:6 "I am....THE TRUTH...".

There are only two belief systems in the whole world: truth and error, Christ and idolatry, righteousness and sinuousness.

The CORE of what makes each individual different from the other is 'life experiences' (we each go through different experiences as we grow up...and we develop different attitudes and 'quirks'/idiosyncrasies.

God realizes this and wants EACH PERSON to have a separate, private, and PERSONAL relationship, not a PUBLIC relationship...or a relationship that is IDENTICAL to others.

Contrary to what has always been taught, God wants a SINCERE, private and personal relationship so that He can also have a relationship with THE REAL YOU.

"I am who I am" (the real name of the Father of creation that sent His Son to purify us, Exodus 3:14) wants us to fully know who we the individual really are so we can truly relate to Him.

Paul, I like your "inquiring" mind.
The differences stems from the brain.
From birth we begin to form a unique personality. As we grow our circuits connect ,sound, sight, taste, likes and dislikes instructions from parents (good or bad role models).
Religion inculcated from youth is difficult to change, especially if one is shunned by the family for choosing a different course!
At least that's the way i see it!
---1st_cliff on 4/15/11

Of course, there are some who experience much the same events and situations in life (brothers growing up in the same family home), but perhaps because of their ages, etc., they experience situations/events differently (they develop "idiosyncratic attitudes")'s HOW THEY CHOOSE TO REACT that matters.

If their CONSCIENCE makes them react DEFENSIVELY (because they already have a "seared conscience"), they will have INSECURITIES and be an 'uptight' person (they will have an angry "hell" type of mindset and will not simply "ENDURE"/persevere, Matthew 24:13).

If they choose to endure/persevere, they will have a "heavenly" demeanor ("heaven" starts TODAY, Luke 17:21).

Paul, it was written:

Luk 12:51-53 Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division. For from now on in one house there will be five divided, three against two and two against three. They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law."

A winnowing fork separates. since man's fall, man has tried to redeem himself. to fix it, God has to let all man's solutions to man be torn has to be this way. It is written.

in the meantime, visit the elderly, feed the homeless, and say 'hello' to the strange man.

\\I suppose what I'm most curious about is how people can analyze the same data and determine it to mean different things.\\

That's because most American Christians assume the Bible dropped down out of heaven yesterday and interpret it with 21st century American assumptions.

The experience of 2000 years of Christians in other places who had real experiences with God doesn't seem to enter into their thinking. The Word of God came only yesterday and only to them.

I suppose what I'm most curious about is how people can analyze the same data and determine it to mean different things.

Im not a Psychology major but maybe some one can enlighten me to how the human mind works mechanically that allows such diversity in thought.

I know all about cultural, behavioral, background, educational, and social differences but I'm assuming their is something in our mental make up that causes us to think differently.

Most people no matter if you agree with them or not completely believe their perceptions.

Yet another will believe 180 degrees different, their must be something inherent that causes this.

I'm thankful every day that I'm not a "cookie-cut" Christian , and am able to seek the Kingdom from a personal educational standpoint rather than an emotional one!
Islam is a classic example of an emotional religion, willing to kill for their belief. Academically it makes no sense!
Adam was not created a "robot"

The Bible says that NO one is good or chooses God, and ALL are sinners. Since Adam and Eve people have known right from wrong. Most people if asked if they would choose truth or a lie, blessings or curses, life or death, good or evil - would say they would choose truth, blessings, life, and good. However, when faced with it head on (consciencely or unconsciencely) would really choose lies, curses, death, and evil. Just like the Bible says that we would. This is why people believe different, because we really choose lies rather than truth.

personally I believe we areen,t ,spiritually.i do believe that different ethinic and society, traditions between different countries and races is what causes the riffs you speak of ,along with language, ths was actually done by GOD HIMSELF AT THE TOWER OF BABBLE so we could not communicate with one another, and then dispersed into different areas with those of like language.but bottom line its the flesh, not the spirit that makes us different.

Freewill. God made us all individual. this is why we are so differnet yet we have a common purpose,God.

"I really wonder mechanically what makes us tick differently?"
Our way of thinking. As a man "thinks in his heart, so is he'. In other words, as a man is open to estimate himself to be, so he becomes.
