Regarding 1 peter 4 When we suffer for the Gospel, its a reminder that we know we are HIS and we also know we have ceased from sin through Christ.
---duane on 5/20/11

David, again you bring judgment on others, comparing your faith with others, "But there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death" All believers walk according to the Spirit. All unbelievers walk according to the flesh. "But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His" To live a life of sin, is to live in the flesh. To leave a life for Christ, is to live according to the Spirit of the Law.
---Mark_V. on 5/20/11

Duane, what's worse is to give a testimony claiming we are sinless, since they know we are not. Second, it is a false gosepl.
2 Chron. 6:36 ".. for there is no man who does not sin.."
2 Kings 8:46 "when they sin against You (for there is no one who does not sin), and You become angry..."
Prov. 20:9- "Who can say, "I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin"?
Eccl. 7:20, "Surely there is not a righteous man on earth who does good and never sins"
1 John 1:8-10 "If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.. if we say we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us"
---Mark_V. on 5/20/11

Sophia, are you saying you walk in the spirit 24/7, and that not even once since your salvation your old nature did not come out? you've never lost your temper? You've never done or said anything you are sorry for? And you say that is not sin?

James tells us the TONGUE cannot be tamed? Who was he addressing, unbelievers? Or scolding believers?

I'll take it from James we are not sinless, and in many way stumble.

Those who think they stand sinless, take heed lest he fall.

---kathr4453 on 5/20/11

Kathr,
We all suffer in the flesh but Jesus never came to perfect the flesh as it will die. BUT a Christian has a new life of the Spirit, lives by faith and cannot sin.
If you dont live by faith your a sinner and not a Christian. Jesus overcame sin for us but some dont seem to think so. They would rather identify with sin than righteousness. Not a good testimony to the lost.
We were given a new birth for a reason. We need to proclaim it.
I dont fight against my sins,Im dead to sin, Ive been set free. I fight againt unbelief(sin) in this world by proclaiming the good news.

v 5 You know He was revealed to take away sins
v 6 no one who sins has either seen Him or known Him
James_L on 5/19/11

James,
All Good verses to be sure, but if they do not take the very word of Christ, do you really think they will except the word of anyone else?

I have repeatedly challenged these folks to show me their doctrines through the words of Jesus Christ, but they can not.
I did this in the hope that this would wake them up, but I fear it may be too late for many of them.

Their measure of Truth is found in their doctrines and in their teachers, not from the Son of God.
Their houses are built on the sand, and only when they fall will they realize that.
---David on 5/20/11

"If we say that WE have no sin, WE deceive OURSELVES..."

Read that again. "If we say that we HAVE (not do) no sin....

Sin dwells in the flesh. That is admitted. That is the same as having sin. The body is dead because of it. However, the believer is not in the flesh but in the Spirit IF so be that the Spirit of God dwell in him. Now, if God says that the body is dead because of sin, it is dead because of sin. You walk by faith and not by sight. If your body is dictating your life, does it change what God said? No. You need to go back and renew your mind to what God said. Eventually your body will stop talking death to you and where YOU ARE (in the Spirit and in union with Christ, who is life) will appear.
---Sophia on 5/20/11

Ah ... James, you have shown now how you claim that you don't sin.

When yuo do something wrong, you are just able to blame the sin that dwells within you.

Good get out.
---alan8566_of_UK on 5/20/11

Haz, sin is sin. Whether it is sin of omission, or sin of commission it is still sin. Because we have a mind and a will, we are capable of moral sin. In fact the Word of God says "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:10). When we do what we know is wrong, we choose to disobey God's law and sin. You want to be sinless of one sin, and just disregard the others. 1 Cor. 3:1-4 Paul is talking to believers but he had to speak to them as carnal because of the carnality going on in the church. Those Corinthians were not fully control by the Holy Spirit. So many times they were controlled by the flesh.
---Mark_V. on 5/20/11

Haz27, so now you say you have suffered in the flesh. OK, How much and how long did you suffer in the flesh, and what was your experience and results..YOUR personal ones.

I asked you this before and never got an answer.

How long did you suffer before YOU ceased from sin?

What were THOSE sins you ceased from?
---kathr4453 on 5/20/11

Donna66:
My apologies. I now understand you were referring to the sin of unbelief for Heb 12.
I debate so often against mans traditional view that sin is wrong-doing that I misunderstood you.

The backsliding of the Galatians is an example of how the sin of unbelief can threaten a Christian's race.

But, if we continue to believe on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, then we are not sinners , as scriptures show.
---Haz27 on 5/20/11

kathr:
"Experiencing the cross"???
I'm still not sure what your doctrine is on this.

And don't forget the scriptural definition of sin for 1John that you use.

As for 1Pet 4:1 Christians have suffered in the flesh. We have "armed ourselves with the same mind" as Christ who suffered on the cross.
Rom6:6 old man crucified
2Cor5:14 if one died for all then were all dead
Rom8:10 if Christ be in you the body is dead because of sin
Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ.
---Haz27 on 5/20/11

kathr:
I note you have not given a scriptural definition for your understanding of the sin spoken of in 1John1:8.
It's hard to discuss this when I'm uncertain what sin your talking about.

IPet4:1 I have suffered in the flesh. What makes you think I haven't?

Donna66:
The definition I applied for Heb12 was unbelief in Jesus. It seems you are using a different definition thats why i asked for a scriptural definition from you.

Also, did you read my earlier post as why Christians are seen as hypocrites? It's because they judge the unsaved by works.
---Haz27 on 5/19/11

haz27-- My definition of sin is the same as yours. And I have given you scriptures that indicate a Christian CAN sin.

Heb 12:1 Heb 12:1 says
"let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us" Was this written to Non-believers?

Heb 12:4-8 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.
(Who but a believer "strives against sin"?)

It's true that sinlessness is our "legal position" before God. But to the world, perfection and "sinlessness" are exactly the same. And they see that we are not "perfect"... thus "hypcrites" if we claim sinlessness.
---Donna66 on 5/19/11

1John 1:8 states CLEARLY, "If we say that WE have no sin (WE HERE in John is the SAVED),WE deceive OURSELVES, and the truth is not in US."

Who is the WE, and Ourselves John is referring to?

You can't be like so many false cults that only look at one scripture and harp on it all your lives. Read the whole council of God.

You have redefined sin.

Christians can sin, and falling from Grace is a SIN. The Galatians who were saved fell from Grace, and Paul brought them back, laboring to form Christ in them again.

He who has SUFFERED in the flesh has ceased from sin, 1 Peter 4, yet you claim no suffering at all.

You've made a quick claim on the cross without ever experiencing the Cross.

Your claim that the truth is not in Duane, Sophia and I because we believe God when He says those born of God CANNOT sin is, concerning.

Your claim against us would then include verse 6 that we are in darkness, we lie and do not the truth.

Dangerous accusations to make against believers with the Holy Spirit within them.

Amen Sophia and Haz
Jesus came to free men from sin. Why is it so hard for some to believe this?
Lets not identify with sin and satan anymore. Lets identify with the righteness of Christ in us. A Christian is one who has been made perfect forever before the Father through Christ. This is our identity. The old is gone, we are now born in newness of life.
---duane on 5/19/11

A believer is not "in the flesh" but in the Spirit if so be the Spirit of God dwells in him. If he has not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His. Now, one can walk after the flesh but he is not in the flesh. Romans 8.
---Sophia on 5/19/11

leej said:
"If there were (sinless people) then scripture would be wrong as everyone in the flesh sins"

This seems to be a standard view by some. This incorrect view is, in part, based on man's ambiguous definition of sin being wrong doings.

leej, scripture is not "wrong". It can be trusted, even God's definitions of sin too.

Scripture CLEARLY says: Believers "CANNOT sin"
Anyone who sins is "of the devil" and a "servant of sin"
Believers WERE servants of sin but NOW are servants of righteousness.

God said this, why reject it?

We are a NEW creature, righteous in Christ. I no longer live but Christ lives in me.
We are born of God and cannot sin.

Is there sinless people walking around?

If there were then scripture would be wrong as everyone in the flesh sins in some way or the other.

1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

Positionally we are counted as complete in Christ but while in the flesh we will continue to struggle like the Apostle Paul proclaimed.

Romans 7:14-15,18 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not, but what I hate, that do I....For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me, but how to perform that which is good I find not.

Scripture paints a bleak picture to those under the delusion they are sinless.

1John 1:8 states simply, "If we say that WE have no sin (WE HERE in John is the SAVED),WE deceive OURSELVES, and the truth is not in US."

The TRUTH is only IN BELIEVERS.

They do not have the Spirit of truth within them.

Hebrews 12:7-8 says, "If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons, for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons."

The Holy Spirit convicts the real children of God for their sins. But fakes receive no conviction/discipline because they are not Gods sons.
---kathr4453 on 5/19/11

yes there is...they are called babys...that is unless you think that all people are born into sin then no...but i think that sin is a choice that we all make...as shown by adam and eve
---Dlemaire on 5/19/11

Yes and No. There are people who no longer "habitually practice sin as a lifestle" (I am one). Yet, at the same time, we all sin (get angry, become offended, etc.) and these kind of sins will be with us as long as we live. God, however, is seeking a people who will abandon the practice of sin as a lifestyle and yield their wills to the power of the Holy Spirit to walk "blameless" before Him. We walk blameless when we allow our conscious to become pricked by the power of the Holy Spirit when we sin or transgress God's law(become offended, get angry, etc.). I pray this helps.

There seems to be so much confusion about who or what a Christian is. We have a new life now, we should rejoice and proclaim this good news to others, but we proclaim the downtrodden and untrue news that we are yet sinners and are still struggling against sin in our lives. How sad is that story to unbelievers or even to believers?
There is victory in the Lord, EVERLASTING JOY AND VICTORY. We have been freed from sin through the Cross and there is no going back.
Its about time we claim and proclaim the victory we HAVE in Jesus to others. The good news..
---duane on 5/19/11

Only you markv would see that as a personal insult. I was making a point that not only was their sexual Sin in the Church but Paul also addressed SIN at the Lords Table.

He said many were SICK because they partook of the Lords Supper and lived in sin. He lists those SINS.

So whether it's sexual sin, or just plain sin doesn't matter. WE are not SINLESS the moment we become saved.

This Christian repented of what he was doing, and in 2 Corinthians we see he was lovingly brought back in the church.
---kathr4453 on 5/19/11

Kathr, the passage you provided for the reason of calling those who are for sinlessness, you took out of Context. 1 Cor. 15:5 is of believers who is in sexual immoralities within the church. This is speaking of those in sin, to be thrown out of the church, but you threw the passage at Haz and Daune as if they were in sexual immorality. It does prove that believers still sin, but un-call for to throw the passages at them. They have not committed sexual immorality. All you had to do was show the reason why Christians still sin and left it at that. There is no need to be hostle and disrespectful with anyone when answering.

Donna66
God gave definitions of sin. Examples of God's definitions of sin:
Blasphemy of Holy Spirit Mark3:29
Unrighteousness 1John5:17
Not of faith Rom14:23
Transgression of the law 1John3:4
Unbelief in Jesus John16:9

Please give scripture stating what definition of sin you use?

Please show scriptures supporting we are both sinner and righteous simultaneously?

And:
1John3:6-9 believers CANNOT sin. He who does sin is of the devil
and
John8:34 he who sins is a servant of sin.
and
Rom6:17 we WERE servants of sin but NOW are servants of righteousness.

Is the sin you speak of different from the above?

Maybe asking this will help in understanding your doctrine.

Because our sins have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus, His righteousness is ours. But our struggle against sin is not over. Consider this written to Christians:

Hbr 12:4-8 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.
And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord... For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons, for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
But if ye be without chastisement..., then are ye bastards, and not sons.

If we were incapable of sinning, He would have no reason to chasten.

Donna66:
The world sees Christians as hypocrites when they see Christians judge others by works whilst they themselves do wrong.

Our own righteousness is as filthy rags. Even Paul and Job etc came to this conclusion.

It is by GRACE that we are saved, NOT by works.

This message gets lost when hypocritical Christians judge/accuse others of wrong doing instead of bringing the gospel.

Lets share the good news of who we are in Christ. How we WERE sinners but NOW are righteous in Christ.
God says this, we shouldn't deny it.

Amen Sophia,
Simply wonderful response.

//Could this be the reason that the world looks upon those who call themselves examples of Christ, hypocrites?//
---David on 5/15/11

Only one who claims to be sinless dares call himself "an example of Christ". Most Christians do not.
Claiming sinlessness, will, in the eyes of the world, make you a hypocrite, since they know that no human is perfect.

If they see you not loving your neighbor...they will call you a hypocrite. If you show ill-temper...they will call you a hypocrite. If you show envy of those who have or achieve what you do not...or judge others of wrongdoing, or are impatient with your child, the elderly, or your co-workers...if you break the speed limit, and admit no sin ...you ARE a hypocrite.

When given the choice to believe what I see or believe what God says of me because of Jesus, I will choose what God says because He is not a man that He should lie. If you believe you are a sinner, you will sin because of who you believe you are. However, if you believe that the body is DEAD because of sin but the Spirit is life because of righteousness and the Spirit quickens the mortal body, you are on your way to having your mind renewed and walking in the truth. A gospel that doesn't get past your head, into your heart, and on into your feet isn't a very powerful gospel.

I said TO those who read these blogs, as many are not saved...WE ARE NOT SINLESS. So, my unsaved friends who read these blogs, please don't believe we are sinless. We struggle just like you, however we do have an advantage. We have Christ in us, and the Holy Spirit in us to HELP in times of temptation. Some can resist those temptations and some, have a harder time, and give in.

AFTER we get the belt from our Father, we do OBEY moreand more, making less poor choices as we mature. Our poor choices based on OUR wants and desires is called SIN. You can be under the Law or Grace and still SIN.

We Hate to SIN against our Loving Father.

How hard it is to follow these?
1. Do not worship other gods.
2. Do not worship idols.
3. Do not misuse God's name.
4. Keep the Sabbath holy.
5. Honor your father & mother.
6. Do not murder.
7. Do not commit adultery.
8. Do not steal.
9. Do not lie.
10. Do not covet.

For most of them you have to do NOTHING.
And you do not have to do it in your own strength and will:
Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

How hard can it be to do NOTHING

poopsey:
My reply wasn't posted. Here it is again.

Use God's definitions of sin.
The world will be convicted of sin of unbelief (John16:9)

Read 1John1 from beginning. It is evangelical. Note its words. It declares eternal life so others too can have fellowship with Father. Verse 6 addressing those in darkness, without Christ.

Who is a liar? 1John2:22 He that denies Jesus.

Also if 1John1:8 was to believers it would contradict 1John3:6-9 believers CANNOT sin.

Gal 5 is not how you think it is. See verse 7. "You did run well, who did hinder you".
It is talking about backsliding, going back into works (unbelief). Gal 3: explains it more clearly.
---Haz27 on 5/18/11

kathr:
Heb 12:1 says
"let us lay aside every weight, and the sin (unbelief)which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us"

Gal 5:7 shows how they struggled to run this race.
"You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth?"
See also Gal 3:1,2

I agree the flesh still tries to bring us back into sin of unbelief and works.

Unbelief is the sin the world will be convicted of (John16:9).
But, the traditional view of sin (wrongdoings) is misleading.
---Haz27 on 5/18/11

Haz27, yes it is true we are a New Creature. I believe we do have two natures, our old, still with us, that will always sin, and our New, that cannot sin. These two natures are at war within us, the flesh and the spirit. and will be until Jesus Christ redeems ALL of our being.

Galatians 5:16
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Why are we instructed on this if it's not an issue?

Here is what happened to a CHRISTIAN who was still living in his old flash nature and understanding:
1 Corinthians 5:5
To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

He wasn't instantly sinless!
---kathr4453 on 5/18/11

Haz, I want you to know again that every time Scripture speaks about us not sinning and who we are to other believers, is because they are still sinning. Yes, only Christ in us is sinless. Our "legal position" is how God sees us and how we should see each other.

1John3:9 says those born of God CANNOT sin.

Kathr you said "NO my unsaved friends..."

Haz, Romans 6:6 Although the old self is dead, sin retains a foothold in our temporal flesh or our unredeemed humanness, with its corrupt desires read (Rom. 7:14-24). The believer does not have two competing natures, the old and the new, but one new nature that is still incarcerated in unredeemed flesh (v.12) "done away with" rendered powerless or inoperatie, because through this his union with Christ he is no longer under the domination and control of sin.

But you are saying you don't sin, for it's no longer called sin because you are a believer. Don't cover sin. Rom. 6:14, "For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under Law but under Grace"
---Mark_V. on 5/18/11

Anyone who claims to be sinless is a liar. Even Paul struggled with the old nature. Until we are resurrected we still have the flesh to contend with.

The only sinless man to walk the earth was Jesus Christ.

1 John 1 NIV
8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Galatians 5 NIV
16 So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. 17 For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.

Haz27, This is the issue .

You bill yourself out as SINLESS, those who can't commit sin.

But isn't that why the unsaved world MOCKS us?

The message of the Gospel is not that we are sinless, or in this life we will become sinless. Or that all who place their faith in Jesus Christ are now sinless.

Whenn you died and rose again with Christ , you did not become an independent little god. You are more dependent on Christ than ever before, to learn His WORD, and oey His word.

You know every word of God Haz27, and understand and obey everything? I'm still learning, and still growing.

Ignorance is not sinless.

Haz, reread Romans again.
"Condemned sin in the flesh" is not talking about our flesh but that of Christ. God's condmnation against sin was fully poured out on the sinless flesh of Christ (Is. 53:4-8, Phil. 2"7).
Romans 8:10 "The body is dead because of sin" is in reference to the body that it is unredeemed and dead in sin. (v. 6:6) he had already told us that the body is no longer a slave to sin. And nowhere does it say we are sinless but not a slave to sin as it was before when we were lost. "But the Spirit (Christ) is life because of righteousness" He Christ is the life in us who is sinless. The unbelievers problem is much deeper then disobedience, it is derectly hostle to God.

Sophia and Haz understand truth, whats wrong with the rest of you?
Many claim to have salvation(life) and at the same time claim they are sinners. They are so deceived. The truth is, they have been freed from sin and dont even know it. They dont or cant accept the work of the Cross because they only read the bible and go to church. We need to be in prayer so we can be led by the Spirit. Only then will we know truth.

I am not saying we will live perfectly behaved in our actions.

As God says, your old man is crucified/dead. I no longer live but Christ lives in me.
We are born of God and cannot sin.

My bible says that one who is born of God cannot sin.

// I believe that there are MANY people who follow God. To them Sin is an exception. They do not sin daily, nor do they living in sin//

I agree with what francis says.
For many, sin is an exception...but not an impossibility! In God's sight all the redeemed are sinless because the righteousness of Christ is imputed to them. But as long as Christians live in human flesh, they will not be perfect, not faultless. The sins they may commit are not from rebellion but from ignorance or inattention. Just because sins are forgiven does not mean we can or should deny they occurred.

I believe that there are MANY people who follow God. To them Sin is an exception. They do not sin daily, nor do they living in sin.

I do believe that ALL HAVE SINNED, I do not believe that all MUST CONTINUE IN SIN

Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of [his] good pleasure.

Job 1:8 And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that [there is] none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?
Job 1:22 In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.

You were a sinner. You were saved by grace through faith. You are now a new creature. You cannot be a new creature and still be who you used to be. If you are who you used to be, then what Jesus did was not enough to change who you were and you are still a condemned, uninhabitable temple. Identity is through your birth, whether born of the flesh or born of the Spirit. If the Spirit of God is righteous, then we are righteous because we are born of the Spirit. The body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead quickens the mortal body. If the Spirit quickens the mortal body, does He quicken it to sin or to righteousness?

You are not a transgressor (1John3:4) of the law of sin and death as you are not under this law Rom8:2.haz27///

What exactly is a TRANSGRESSOR of the Law of sin and death.

All men, born from Adam inherited sin that brought death. Jesus came to bring life from the dead, of which we were all partakers.

We have been set free from the penalty of sin and death, IN CHRIST only. But that in no way makes us sinless. Jesus death and resurrection paid for our sin.

Just because the Righteousness of Christ has been imputed to you in no way LITERALLY causes and forces you to be and live out every moment of your being Righteous and Holy. That's your legal position before God...Only Christ in you is Sinless.

Mark_V:
I agree with some of what you said.
But, we WERE sinners, now saved by grace.
Remember Rom 6:17.

Sin was condemned in the flesh Rom 8:3
And if Christ is in you the body is DEAD because of sin Rom8:10
Your old man was crucified.
Henceforth know we no man after the flesh 2Cor5:16.

See youself as God says to, a new creation.
It's Christ in you that lives, not the old you.
You are BORN OF GOD and cannot sin 1John3:9.

Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

Romans 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset [us], and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Haz, I'm a sinner saved by the Grace of God. Nothing in me was worth saving. I'm righteous before God through the imputation of Christ righteousness. The miracle is that God saved anyone at all, for everyone deserves death. The new creation in me is Christ, He is sinless, but my flesh has not been redeemed and will not be until I'm glorified at the Second Coming when I receive my new body prepared for heaven. While still alive I'm been sanctified by the Holy Spirit a process that ends at my death. The new birth is only the beginning of our new life in Christ. Read and study 1 Cor.3:1-4. Which is speaking to believers, the brethren.

Mark_V
Are there sinless people?
Yes, you are one example of the many here.

You believe on Jesus hence you do not commit sin of unbelief (John16:9)

You are not a transgressor (1John3:4) of the law of sin and death as you are not under this law Rom8:2

Your old man was crucified.
Sin was condemned in the flesh Rom8:3.
If Christ is in you the body is DEAD because of sin Rom8:10
You are a NEW creature 2Cor 5:17.
I no longer live but Christ lives in me Gal 2:20
Your life is hid with Christ in God Col 3:3
You are born of God and CANNOT sin 1John3:9
You are righteous in Christ and NOT a sinner 1Pet4:18, Rom6:18

The answer is found in understanding one word:

trichotomy

Jesus was a clear example of one who was a Son of God, and he did not do evil.
Why would those of you who do evil, call yourselves the Sons of God, when this was clearly not the example of Jesus Christ?

Could this be the reason that the world looks upon those who call themselves examples of Christ, hypocrites?
---David on 5/15/11

Sinners sin as a habit, for Christians to sin or not sin is a choice. A Christian can be sinless only by immersing oneself in Christ. Die to self, deny lusts in life, for we sin when led by our own lusts. That means fellowship and close friendship with Christians, going to church service regularly, reading the Bible,in study,at least once a day for an hour, pray and praise God without ceasing. You can do that in your daily life. Build your faith praying in the Spirit. What you take into your mind goes into the soul and will show in how you behave and the choices you make every day. Fight Satan he attacks by trying to put bad thoughts in your mind rebuke them in Jesus Name. When thoughts are against your Christian walk rebuke them. We have that power.
---Darlene_1 on 5/15/11

Using man's ambiguous definitions of sin Christians are still sinners.
BUT, using God's definitions, and our standing in Christ, Christians are NOT sinners.

1Pet4:18: If the righteous one is scarcely saved, Where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?

This shows 2 groups of people. You are either righteous OR a sinner.

Confirmed by Rom6:17,18. We WERE servants of sin but NOW we are servants of righteousness. Remembering John8:34 "whoever commits sin is servant of sin".

1John3:6-9 we CANNOT sin. Anyone who does sin is of the devil.

If the Son makes you free you shall be FREE indeed" John8:36

"our old man is crucified" "he that is dead is FREED from sin" Rom6:6,7

Mark V,

Haven't you met Eloy? :)

No, Scriptures and the Fathers say that we all sin and in need of repentance.

As Elder Ephriam once putted it, "To Fall and be injured is human since, eve if a man's life lasted for only one day, his mind is inclined to evil from his youth. But to fall and remain fallen is not human. Repentance recreate man, it was given to us to cure the soul after Baptism. If it did not exist, rarely would a person be saved. That is why the virtue of repentance is unending as long as man is alive [...]"(Councils from the Holy Mountain).

As us Orthodox would pray, "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, Have Mercy on me, a sinner".

Christ is Risen!

Mat 27:52 And the graves were opened, and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

Joh 11:43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.

There are many things I believe. But, most of all I believe!

Joh 12:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
He that loveth his life shall lose it, and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

I believe if you asked a person who was living right and following GOD if they are a sinner they will say yes. When you follow GOD you develop a hightened sense of what sin is and how wicked we are.

Do I believe there are people who are living without daily sin and who follow GOD so that sin is not a daily part of their life. Yes.
