donna66,I totally agree with you. We live in a great country, even with all the ills, it is still the greatest. I also agree if some who live in America don't like it, I'm sure the middle east will welcome them.

Move to another country if you think this one is so bad. Your life will not be better elsewhere.---Donna66 on 7/7/11

Donna, that really is a trite statement. People can criticize this country and still love it.

There is so much wrong with this country. But there is so much good here too.

Maybe we should look at what is wrong with this country and work to fix it. But, then again, maybe we can't even come to an agree what is wrong here...
---NurseRobert on 7/7/11

"... Your life will not be better elsewhere."

Now, your statement suggests that you have lived in every other country of the world and have experienced the "...not better elsewhere."

First, I think you know that it is very much better in many other places in the world. And if you do not know, you could try to find out.

Second, I quite know that sin lies at everyone's door. Yet, there is the issue of simply acknowledging your own sinful past and present. And do not just overlook them as mere mistakes or foibles of innocence.

And the big lesson is this: stop pretending that your record in the world is the best in the world and that you are entitled to trumpet advice and coerce conformity.

Please get your facts straight: Americans did not take any land from the Indians. ---Eloy on 7/7/11

So, If I come to your house and move you to some shack near the oil refinery so I can move into your house, that would be OK because God owns your property?

You have a strange sense of history. Yes, I am sure some native Americans welcomed European settlers, but when there were forces off their lands and pushed onto "reservations" Im sure the welcome was worn out.

Paul ends Galatians " I am Crucified to the world and the World to me".

The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and The pride of life is a sin, and is of the devil.

We're strangers on this earth and Our citizenship is in HEAVEN.

Strongaxe, He was speaking to the (Elect) those who later committed their lives to the Lord. The one's Paul was explaining the message to. And maybe my answer should have been "the Elect" instead of "believers" but it is the same people only they had not been saved yet. It explains Rom. 5:8 and also 1 John 2:2, the "world" here does not mean every individual, but to mankind in general. Christ actually paid the penalty only for those who would repent and believe (the Elect) For we know that most of the world is going to be condemned to hell to pay for their own sins, so they could not have been paid for by Christ.
---Mark_V. on 7/7/11

Move to another country if you think this one is so bad. Your life will not be better elsewhere.

Every country has cruelty, blood-shed, war and prejudice (racial and otherwise) in their history. Have you never read the history of any other countries, for heavens sake?
Ours is no worse. SIN is not written in red-white-and-blue.

Be grateful for what God had given you here! Or do you think ingratitude is not sin?
---Donna66 on 7/7/11

Please get your facts straight: Americans did not take any land from the Indians. ALL LAND IS GOD'S, not the Indians nor nonIndians, but God's. The land is made by God, the water is made by God and the air is made by God- not man. The Indians welcomed the American settlers in American and many married into the European families.

REF: Perverts/Deviants marrying(New York etc.)

America???

LUKE 17...

They were marrying, they were being given in marriage, It was the same as happened in the days of Lot: on the day that Lot went out from Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. It will be just the same on the day that the Son of Man is revealed!
---John on 7/7/11

\\Christan, I agree with you and totally disagree with Eloy when he said,
"This country commonly kidnaps children from their fathers, and also extorts money from the fathers, and unless the guilty repent they will be thrown into everlasting hell"\\

Don't worry.

Eloy is always making statements he cannot prove. This is just one more.

The more appropriate question is: was God ever involved in the American project?
---Allan on 7/6/11

Well AMEN to that, finally someone who has the guts to tell it like it is.

And the truth is Allan, these people actually believed they were God's new chosen people, and America the NEW Promise land, giving them they believed every right to murder the native American and steal their land. THAT's what's so horribly disgusting about it.

I just finished watching an 8 part series about New York, from the first ship to the twin towers. VERY eye opening.

Prosperity was made off the backs of children working 14 hr days in horrible conditions.

People hate hearing that truth!
---kathr4453 on 7/6/11

Mark_V.:

When Eloy spoke of kidnapping and extortion, perhaps he was referring to Child Protective Services, who can take children from their parents on the flimsiest of excuses, and then make them pay for child support.

You said: hope you understand that passage. Propitiation for believers only.

Not so:

Romans 5:8
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

1 John 2:2
"And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world."
---StrongAxe on 7/6/11

Is God turning His back on America?

Let's see.

(i)The first Americans took the land from the Indians and killed them at every opportunity,

(ii)Kept a quarter of the population as slaves for centuries and treated them worse than they did their animals,

(iii)Prevented millions of Americans from experiencing and exercising their citizenship rights for centuries,

(iv) Passed and enforced segregation laws and used the judiciary as its primary the instrument,

(v) And since World War II, use its military might to kill and destroy the lives of tens of millions of men, women and children across the globe.

The more appropriate question is: was God ever involved in the American project?
---Allan on 7/6/11

Scott...

A homeless man who robbed a bank for $100 becuase he was hungry and had no place to stay, turned himself in the next day. He pled guilty and was sentenced to 15 years in Jail.

The CEO of what had been one of the largest privately held mortgage lenders was sentenced for his role in a $ 3 billion scheme to defraud was sentenced to 40 months.

Nope, no caste system here..
---NurseRobert on 7/6/11

Craig, if you had studied you would have known that world here does not mean every single person, but every nation, not only Israel. For Romans 3:24,25 tells us about who this propitiation is for,
"Being justified freely by His grace, (the saved) through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed.."
I hope you understand that passage. Propitiation for believers only.
There is no Universal salvation. Christ did not die for the wicked, but for those who are His who through faith were saved by grace.
---Mark_V. on 7/6/11

Christan, I agree with you and totally disagree with Eloy when he said,
"This country commonly kidnaps children from their fathers, and also extorts money from the fathers, and unless the guilty repent they will be thrown into everlasting hell"
I never heard where this country kidnaps children. It's not in the news. There is many children missing but they were not taken by this country. They do take money from many fathers for they pay taxes to support unbiblical ideas. This country is filled with good and bad people just like every country. Sin is running wild all over the world. Till sin is dealed with by God, there will be sin in every part of the world, here included.

And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

One can be as legalistic as Judah if they prefer. Legal appears to eliminate the grey.
One can also look to facts and search the hidden things, which explain the present.

Fact...we are the greatest most blessed nation ever. We have fulfilled every blessing and promise from Abraham forward. Over 73 specific blessings noted by economic, spiritual measuring marks or signs.
You mention Germany and Soviet Union. Who elected poorly....no less than we most recently.
OT Israel....also elected poorly right from the first King until their putting away or divorce. It is a sign/mark of theirs through the OT.

Those relate to people in general, but do not mention any specific nation. If you can deduce merely from the Bible (and not man-made documents like the constitution) that the U.S.A. was founded on Biblical principles, the same logic must necessarily apply to the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany (which is absurd).

Only by looking specifically at founding documents and principles and comparing them to the Bible can one say that nation is founded on Biblical principles.

So, which portions of ours do so? Statements like "endowed by their Creator with inalienable rights" are excessively vague, since they do not say who that Creator is, nor what those rights are.
---StrongAxe on 7/5/11

Scott, for the most part, I do agree. America is still a great country. We have the capacity to show the world how great we are.. unfortunately, we fail to use it many times.

I do believe your numbers are wrong, however. The most recent numbers (2010 numbers) show 1% controlling 36% of the wealth and the top 5% controlling 75%. And I disagree about the caste system. We may not be like India, but we certainly do have a caste system. Remember Leona Helmsly (only the poor people pay taxes). That attitude is still prevalent in this country.

I don't believe God has turned his back on us, but he is certainly shaking his head.
---NurseRobert on 7/5/11

\\Christian principle: Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.\\

This is wrong for several reasons.

1. This is not specifically Christian, but Jewish. (For that matter, it is only one of three out of the Decalogue that have legal force under US laws.)

2. Our country was founded on the exact opposite: the Declaration of Independence bears false witness against George III and accuses him of things he actually did not do.

Would you like to try again?

---Cluny on 7/5/11

Cluny---Has America has been called a "Christian" nation because of just a few people? (How spiritually Christian we are is another question)

Israel is the land of the Jews. Don't the majority there call themselves "Jewish"? Politically it is the "Jewish State"

The U.S. does not associate it's name with a religion, but oddly, people the world over call us a Christian nation.

You can call me a citizen of the United States. Or call me an American. This latter is objectionable to some who live in South America, but should I refuse to call anyone an "American" because "Citizen of the United States" or "North American" are more accurate?.

Cluny-- The United States was never OFFICIALLY any religion, since it intentionally never had a state Church. But even today, 80% of Americans identify themselves as "Christian" (not Jewish, Muslim etc). That does not mean they all believe in the Incarnation, Resurrection and Trinity...neither did all the founders. (neither does everyone on this site who consider themselves Christian).
But they honored the Bible (not the Koran, not the Buddhist Suttas) and based laws on the 10 Commandments. Not one failed to consider Christs injunction to "love one another"

That so many Americans are outspokenly offended by these facts speaks volumes about how America has changed.

NO, God has not turned his back on America. We still have some great characteristics. Ex. humanitarian relief (Haiti, Japan), equal rights for all people (most countries treat women like trash), a strong middle class (most countries around the world have 1% of population owning 50%+ of wealth, US about 24%), religious freedom, no caste system, However we are at a crossroads similar to Israel during the time of the kings with regard to culture and materialism and we may have to go through a refiner's fire but God will never leave us just like Israel.

America has been influenced by the moral teaching of the bible. But if you look at our history, it never as a republic, as Cluny rightly says, has had the biblical God before it just as the nation they broke from didn't. The very reason the founding fathers were motivated or given an opportunity to break from Britain was for financial reasons, paying a tax that was not fair to them. This in itself goes against scripture.
It was said as a foundation for our country that every man has the right of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Was and is that the case for "every man"? God has used this nation as He has many many more, but our history proves very clearly, not what men said but did, we were and are not a Christian nation.

Yes, America indeed is recorded to have been founded on Christian principles. Just because there are some individuals who are not converted in a country does not mean that country is nonChristian, when there is a doubter in a Christian church, that does not make the church nonChristian, but only that one disser in the church is nonChristian. When Jesus called the 12 followers, they were Christian followers who followed Christ, but Judas being a traitor does mean all the followers were antiChrist as Judas was, it only means that that one, Judas, was nonChristian and not all of the Christians nonChristian.

God has not turned his back on America, but he will never bless nor honor an evil person. One sinner destroys much good, and God indeed turns his back on the antiChrist individuals in America. The choice is ours, we can have a church on every corner in America, and leave our doors wide open: or we can have a jail or prison on every corner, and bars and locks and alarms on our doors and windows. Is America a "special nation" that's prophesied in the Holy Bible by the prophets? As far as I see it, America is just like the other nations in the world consisting of sinners like the whole world. And just like Christ reproach and commanded the Galileans, the same is said to everyone including the proud Americans,

"I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish." Luke 13:3

the question was "do you believe God is turning His back on America?" I already know America has turned against God. Look back to Madlyn O'Hare. She was able to get prayer out of school with the help of federal judges. Things sure have snowballed since then. Just look what has happened since the election in 08. Our "president" has even said we are no longer a christian nation. God help us all.

To say that God is turning His back on America is to assume that at one point He was facing America.

This assumption has not been proven, though many people longing for the good old days take it as a given.

Glory to Jesus Christ!

Rhonda... What prophecy? Where in the Bible is America spoke of?

Chapter and verse please.
---NurseRobert on 7/4/11

Maybe it's America turning her back on God!

First of all, Jesus didn't come to save nations, but individual sinners. NO NATION is baptized into the body of Christ...individuals are.

AND remember God NEVER made a Covenant with a Gentile Nation. Once you realize that your whole perspective will change, and you will be on your way to GROWTH and Maturity IN CHRIST in Heavenly places,SEEKING those things ABOVE and not below.

Christians in America are not here to save anerica, but witness to sinners that the Lord is coming soon, ragardless of where you live.

There is no such thing as the Gospel of America. So deal with it and get over it. There is only one Gospel...

I dont believe Gods patience will ever stop,I do believe that in his time he will judge the world rightly because he must keep his word. The bible clearly states how the human race will detoriate in the end times, and with the appearance of the beast, and how after 7 years of hell on earth christ will return victoriously and then the 1000 years and then the judgement.

The Father in Heaven blessed America as foretold in prophecy and when America TURNED ITS BACK ON HIM only then did He begin removing His blessings to this once great nation ...his great plan that mankind CANNOT rule itself and ALL LAWS come from Him

I agree. When, When, When, . . .

will people learn that OUR ways are only bringing about destruction? I believe that the Bible says NEVER, but I keep hoping that someday we will.

GOD's ways are the ONLY ways that work!
