Mima, no where does the context state what you said. I thought you were going to help? The passages are talking about been humble and says' (v.4-7)
"Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Woe to the world because of offenses For offenses, must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes" If you can read later he said, (v.10)
Take heed that you do not despise one of those little ones" and gives the reasons, "for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven" Your words were not God's Word in the context.

Dont we all just give opinions on what we believe scripture says here?
---CraigA on 7/18/11

Mark, as concerns children the word protective or protection could be applied.
Scripture says that these angels are ministering spirits sent forth for them who shall be heirs of salvation. Apparently to assist in the Ministry of those who are saved or are going to be saved. What could this ministry possibly be, peace between believers? Hardly!! The ministry of those who are saved is to show others the way to salvation. And it's that ministry the Angels are used in. And so this statement"Mima, the interpretation is not that they were send (for) but that they were send (forth) In the context his talking about believers treating other believers with kindness" is off base.

Cluny your answer to the riddle I ask you was so ridiculous that I can scarcely bring myself to move on. And so to answer your riddle(and I do have an answer) would be self-defeating and pointless because to do so implies that I accept your answer to my riddle.

I have been gone for a few days and am trying to catch up.

Mima, I'm waiting for your councel, help me out. What did I say that was off base? Please don't do what many others do and not answer questions. I have a great respect for you, and expect you to be honest. I will not take your answer in a wrong way, only want to know where I was off base. I believe that is fair. When you are wrong I tell you, and give you Scripture.

As regards what ministry the Angels are sent to us for I believe Lisa has an awfully good answer.
"If you are praying for someone's salvation (family or friend or the world), you can ask God to send out these angels to gather them in and bring them to salvation."

Donna's answer implying their ministry is for perfection also seems to be correct.

Mima, you said I was off base and didn't tell me where I was off base. I would love for you to tell me where. I will be waiting for your explanation and why you question Donna66 answer, ministering to them or ministering for them. Anyone can say you are off base without giving you anything. You are a good guy, interpret the passage with its context.
---Mark_V. on 7/11/11

MarkV one has but to read the first 10 verses of Matthew 18 to see that your answer is totally off base!

Mima-- In the case of angels, doesn't minister "to" and minister "for" often mean about the same thing?

Mima, the interpretation is not that they were send (for) but that they were send (forth) In the context his talking about believers treating other believers with kindness, in this case the angels stand face to face with God and watching believers who need help. It does not mean each person has a guardian angel. If you go to Matt. 18:10 you will find the meaning, these angels are there to help believers and when you mistreat a bro/sis, you are reminded there is someone who will help them.
"Take head that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven, "their angels" always see the face of My Father who is in heaven. For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost"
---Mark_V. on 7/8/11

Donna wrote" The Word says they are "sent" to minister to us," and I used to think the same thing, however a close reading will show that they are sent forth to minister FOR them who shall be heirs of salvation. The difference between being sent to them and being sent FOR them is significantly different. Seeing there is a between TO them and FOR them caused me to ask the question.

Christ has counted me worthy to come to these blogs to as a minister of Christ, and a steward of the mysteries of God, to edify the saints. Read Ephesians 4:12-16.

It appears to refer to angels. The Word says they are "sent" to minister to us, which is a comforting thought, though I don't know for sure what kind of ministry it is.
Angels, of course, are not pretty, feminine, delicate beings as they are usually depicted. (who look like they could be of little help to anybody). They are majestic powerful beings, as Scripture describes them. I've never seen one. I suspect I've been rescued a time ot two on the highway by one strong enough to direct my out-of-control vehicle (or someone else's). It's the only logical explanation I have.
---Donna66 on 7/7/11

Yes...the ministering spirits here are angels. I totally agree, but they are not sent and have not been permitted to minister the gospel. That is why it is our job.
Now once we are raptured up then they will do the ministering.

Angels direct people to where the Gospel is being preached. For example, an angel told Cornelius to send for Peter so the Gospel could come to the Gentiles in Book of ACTS 10.

When we declare/speak the word of God angels listen & act on it.(Psalm 103:20)
---Rickey on 7/7/11

These are angels, some call them angels of salvation or angels that gather. They gather the harvest of souls for salvation. If you are praying for someone's salvation (family or friend or the world), you can ask God to send out these angels to gather them in and bring them to salvation.
