Use some logic - God hasn't moved - that means you have. So all you have to do is move back to where you were. How can you do this? First, tell God you are sorry for moving away and tell Him you want to come back. 2. Put some action to this moving back by Bible Reading daily, praying daily, get associated with a Bible Preaching Church, Christian fellowship, and 3. Always remember that God wants you back. 4. Also remember that a Christian living is based on facts, not emotions.

I wasn't aware David begged God for years to forgive him. Can you show me that in scripture?

Once we turn our back on God for any reason or any length of time, it is very difficult to get back to where we were. Some never get back. Think of King David who sinned and begged God for years to forgive him and God did restore him. Just keep praying.

Lord I miss you, please come back into my life.
Even though we know Jesus said I will never leave you nor forsake you, our flesh sometimes feels he has left us and forsaken us. So we have to deal with this as humanly as possible.
With a cry out to God to help you come back to Him. Tell him you can't do it on your own, and you also don't know HOW to come back to him, so ask Him to show you and to draw you unto Himself- He will surely be gracious to you at the sound of your cry is what the Prophet Isaish tells us.

Many followers of Christ are in need of repentance.
Through their teachings they are taught as if this is a one time deal.
Repentance is a lifestyle change.
I can not over stress the need for you to get into the habit of daily prayer, prayer that includes a daily confession of sin.
If you have not confessed sin in a while, be prepared to feel the great weight of that sin lifed from your shoulders.
God is right there in front of you, and when you confess your sin, you won't need me to tell you that, you will see it for yourself.
What is repentance?
It simply means to walk in the way of the Lord.
What are the ways of the Lord?
If you get in the habit of confessing your sins, The Holy Spirit will show you the way.

It is not how do you "get the Lord back." The issue is how does the Lord get more of you? It is plain that you have parts of your mind, body and soul reserved for yourself. Give those areas up to the Lord. Surrender yourself to Him. You will then see that He never left and you will have that desired fellowship with Him.

Jessica, the Lord wants you back. If you have spent time away from Him, you can return to Him. Bible reading and prayer are the two things to do. In difficult times in my life, I've felt that God was far away, but later, after bible reading and prayer, and sometimes after many months, I realized that God's response to my prayer was actually to wait, so that I could learn endurance.
If you feel God is far away because you seek Him and don't see His response, keel trying - maybe God is training you in endurance

God created humans for fellowship with him therefore you need to make time each day to fellowship, visit and commune with God. Read your Bible every day to keep God ways fresh in your mind. The Bible tells us to pray without ceasing and praise continuely. Sing unto God,tell him how much you love him,how you desire to have him more fully in your life. Spend time with him, participate in Bible studies, prayer meetings, the more you immerse yourself and your life in God,his Word and his way the closer you will be. When we make time with God he will never disappoint us.

The Bible says to come to God you MUST do it through Jesus Christ (John 14:6). The Bible says the way to get to Jesus Christ is through (1) repentance (confess and turn from sins) (Luke 13:3, 1 John 1:9), and (2) believe and confess that Jesus Christ died and rose and is Lord (Romans 10:9-10). Anything other than this, will not bring you back to God. Since it seems you have backslidden, which means you NEVER slid forward (became born again/saved) in the first place.

Reading the Bible is a great way to hear from the Lord. Romans 6 is a good place to start if we're not living right. Of course all the new testament will help you. & the old testament helps me understand how God feels about us. The whole Bible is great for staying close to God. Pray often asking God to forgive you, cleanse you, renew a right spirit within you. We need to talk with God daily to stay close to Him. Do you expect to maintain a relationship with friends & family & never talk to them? Of course not. The same goes for God. He wants to hear from us.

Repent and turn from the sin that you have been living in. Ask him for forgiveness and he will forgive.

He never left.... he's there waiting for you.
Focus on him, pray, even when you don't feel like it.
