Kindred Spirit Of Christ On Blogs

Concerning kindred spirits. Many times while reading the blogs I feel a certain closeness(kindred spirit) with the person I'm reading after. How many of you experienced this also. This is one of the main reasons I like this blog so much! I feel the same kindred spirit sometimes with the moderator.

I had an experience at work years ago. I went to a boat with my supervisor to discuss pricing for our service. I stood by the truck while she went to talk to the captain on the boat. There was a deck hand I saw and had a revelation he was a disciple of Christ, yet never even spoke to him. As we left and the day progressed my supervisor, who new I was a christian, told me that man was a christian but I didn't bring up the subject. It hasn't happened but a few times, but it certainly does.

James, I see your point. I also see 18-20 relating to any time you come together in prayer. Like a family, married couple, prayer partners... coming together in prayer, seeking God together. It's a promise to us all. Not necessarily for the purpose of verses 15-17 only.
---Reba on 8/12/11

Reba,

You are correct that Matt 18:15-17 are dealing with confronting a brother or sister.

But concerning verses 18-20, they relate directly to verses 15-17.

Notice in verse 16 Jesus says take One Or Two More With You. That would be you plus one totalling two, or you plus two totalling three.

He says in verse 20 Where TWO or THREE ar gathered. That's YOU, plus One Or Two More. He has not shifted course.

And He is not saying that we bidn and loose through prayer, He is saying that whatever judgment the two or three come to here on earth, it will be honored in heaven because He is in the midst of them making the judgment.

\\So, you are saying that someone has to be in sin before Jesus enters into the midst of the two or three?\\
---Elder on 8/11/11

So you are saying that Jesus is not "in the midst" of an individual believer? Is it not written "I Will Never Leave You Nor Forsake You" ?

Like I said, Elder - context
---James_L on 8/11/11

James L said, "It would not apply here because you have taken it out of context."
So, you are saying that someone has to be in sin before Jesus enters into the midst of the two or three?
Now who is taking the thought out of context?
You will please notice that Matt instructs the church that when two or three are gathered in the name of Jesus He is in their midst.
There are 9 different statements in Matt 18:1-20. Jesus being with the gathered is only one of those thoughts.
---Elder on 8/11/11

\\ Why would that not apply here also?\\

How can two or three people in two or three separate locations said to be "gathered together"? Consider Acts 2, where the followers of Jesus were in ONE PLACE.

Glory to Jesus Christ!

Elder, I agree on the use of that verse. I see Matt. 18:15-17 as how to confront a brother or sister in Christ, using the help of the church if necessary. Then Matt. 18:18-20 is letting the children of God know that when they pray & bind/loose on earth, it will be bound/loosed in heaven. & that when 2 or 3 agree in prayer in His name, He in there with them. The last 3 verses could be talking to the ones dealing with the problem discussed in the first 3 verses, & the last 3 verses could also apply to any time prayer is going on.

James L, Elder was refering to "Where two are three are gathered in my name there I am in the midst of them". That is perfectly in order and he is completely coreect,it does work that way for any purpose. To the rest of what he said I agree and have experienced the same thing so I give him a big ole AMEN.

\\Where two or three are gathered...Why would that not apply here also?\\
---Elder on 8/10/11

It would not apply here because you have taken it out of context.

Matt 18:15-20
If your brother sins, go and show him his fault in private...if he does not listen to you, take one or two more with you...so that by the mouth of two or three witnesses every fact is confirmed...if he refuses...then tell it to the church...for where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.
---James_L on 8/11/11

Elder, Amen! I agree with your entire post.
"Call it what you will, but the Lord does bear witness with our spirit when we share His Truth, in voice or print, in the spirit of His love."
Sometimes the love of God emanates powerfully from a post and/or poster, and I 'feel' drawn to such. There are many times the Lord bear witness as you say. How I love to hear His 'voice'!

There are also many personalities that manifest over time, some witty,
some harsh, some gentle, etc.. often a combination of various character traits are apparent, and one develops a 'feel' for who a person is, what they are about. That too can be a pleasure...even though not necessarily a kindred spirit,

Where two or three are gathered in the name of Christ He is in the midst of them. Why would that not apply here also?
When we gather to serve the Lord He is in the effort and takes personal interest.
There are many times the Lord has not allowed me to answer a blog. This is also part of ministering here.
Call it what you will, but the Lord does bear witness with our spirit when we share His Truth, in voice or print, in the spirit of His love.
---Elder on 8/10/11

hey,Sis.Mima I too, feel a certain closeness, many times too! Many are very sincere here... goin' through similar! God Moves Mysterious Ways! I really love alot you write, too! I forget sometimes. Still praise'n God He's Overtime healin' Me! Love of Jesus!

it's kind of like that blog "Outbursts Of Worship".

butterflies.

i was stationed near Pacific Grove. migrating monarchs appear there each October. thousands of butterflies. it did not result in an outburst. it ended up in quiet reverence that could not be uttered.

i did not hear that story of Joan of Arc until now. if i see a butterfly now there probably will be more adoration and not an outburst.

for one (along with Leslie), it would probably end up in outburst. for another, it might end up in quiet reverence.

what we regard as a kindred spirit may or may not be the Holy Spirit.
---aka on 8/10/11

I believe that what you are experiencing is mere coincidence, if not that warm feeling people get when having their ideas affirmed or ears otherwise tickled.

Glory to Jesus Christ!
---Cluny on 8/9/11

I believe what you're experiencing is the Holy Spirit.
Rom. 8:16- The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.:-)))
