Rape In Book Of Gensis

Is it okay to teach 8 to 13 year old little boys and girls about the rape that took place in the book of Genesis? Why or why not?

//They hear about it on the news daily and see first hand stories of it on television and movies long before 10 years old.

KarenD, this woman who teaches bible study doesn't have a Television in her house neither do the families she teaches. SO they DON'T watch TV or hear of rape on it...why would you let a 10 year old watch a TV program about Rape? You are too liberal if you do that. Not judging you, just that there's enough for them to learn about, they don't need to learn about rape at 10 years old. That's WAYYY too young.

Jed, your response to Anon is a non sequitur. He didn't even hint that legal systems shouldn't exist. That's just silly.

John, he did say that only God should punish people, not man. I asked him if we should eliminate the legal system since that is punishment from man, not God. Putting it in perspective like this shows how absured the idea that man is not allowed to punish or avenge crimes is.

GOD says (remember Him?) God says, "Vengence is Mine, I will repay" says the Lord.
The brothers should not have avenged themselves nor their sister. Leave it to God to do.

So anon, do you think that we should do away with jails and prisons then, since it is not man's place to punish people? Just let rapists and murderers go free and wait for God to punish them? If you are being attacked do you do nothing to defend yourself? Just wait for God to step in and save you?

It says a lot about the adults on these blogs who must be very naive to think that children are not already understanding what rape is at a very early age. They hear about it on the news daily and see first hand stories of it on television and movies long before 10 years old.

Jed, I would say that mass murder in response to rape is totally inappropriate.

What did Dinah's brothers do wrong? They avenged their sisters honor against these wicked men who were planning to take all their flocks and their women, and who obviously treated women like property. Dinah's brothers were totally rad for defending their sister and their women.

Age 13 and above the account is appropriate especially since so many kids have to start facing the issue of rape as early as their teens.

Yes Dinah's story. I know her brother's response was worse, but we're adults and we understand rape, should we make little children understand it too at such a young age?

I agree with Moderator below age 10 is STILL too young...how about age 16?

The Dinah story you mean? Even worse was her brothers' response.
