Falling In Love With An Atheist

This guy I have come to fall for (not dating), has just told me he is an atheist. He has been catholic all of his life and just told me he does not believe in God. He wants me to ignore the problem, but it is too hard. But I am falling for him, what do I do?

Clawson: Ask yourself why God does not allow anybody just to marry anybody? Think deeply about it if you can.
---Adetunji on 7/26/12

Falling in love is something that happens in your brain! Regardless of religion, i'd say this "athiest" whos willing to forget what You call a problem is the one being just here :) Athiests arent out to Hunt christians, you believe in one god, out of all the ones ever created, so you nearly as athiest as him, its only you belive in one, and him none.

The quickest way satan can destroy a person is to give Him the wrong partner , we saY God is control and He knows all why not trust in Him . your feelings can change But God cannot change why not put your trust in Him He cares for you. you can see what someone looks like god can tell you who he is

I would personally say stop falling and get yourself on your right sense.falling on the wrong person is the most devastating thing you can do-its a waste of love and time.it is like planting seed in the sand and expecting a plant to grow in it.

you should move on, like Moderator said...Christians are not to be with unbelievers.
---a_friend on 2/14/12

I know some very kind, rational, intelligent atheists. In fact, I dearly love two. They are my sons. They were raised in a Christian home, taken to church three times a week, and they even did missions trips in high school. When they moved out on their own, they turned away from the Church, and God.

However, I strongly suggest that you run as fast as you can from a relationship with one. Do as the moderator said, and move on fast.

It's okay. Atheists are really sane and rational. You won't be punished in hell, because there is no hell.
---atheist on 2/12/12

Sane? Rational? Both of these are still out for judgement.
Some atheist don't study enough....probably a majority.

The word "hell" meant grave, sometimes trash pit. While you may think to avoid it you will pass someday, and will either be buried, cremated(burned) or end up on a trash pit. As to what to expect with your present attitude.....Happy earthworming, ash n trash.

scott1, this is clear cut.

I agree i just wanted to point out that Jesus knows what you are going through.

Ask God to help you guard your heart. He may be a nice-funny-smart & sensitive person, but that will not be enough when you need a Spiritual leader, partner, somebody to be there for you in the midst of lifes greatest challenges and changes. Your hope will be in Christ, and His will be in what? Through the fears of old age, death, your values, what you would feel worth living and dying for, they will all have different references. Right now, he is actually an enemy to the Cross, not that he is mean, but he is not saved, an does not believe that your Redeemer is the Lord of Glory, King of Kings, the Bread of life, those are just pretty words to him.

Remember Jesus was tempted by the flesh in the desert.
---Scott1 on 2/12/12

saying jesus was tempted in the desert is saying that satan offered temptations to jesus in the desert.

jesus' flesh did not make Him equivocate with "what do I do?". he knew what was written and he responded accordingly.

if she needs our opinion in this, her question indicates a little more than temptation.

Jas_4:4 You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

scott1, this is clear cut.

Choose. God or this atheist. You can't love both.
---Trish on 2/12/12

Get wise to whatever it is about him that can fool you into falling in love with him. Whatever is attracting you away from Jesus . . . it is good to get wise to this. Because even if you are or become a Christian, these same things can be shown to you by a church guy who you also do not belong with in marriage. Get into God's love with a variety of really Christian people, and then love with charmers and smooth talkers won't seem so great.
---Bill_willa6989 on 2/12/12

Look at it this way what will happen when you get married and have kids. Do you want him to lead you and your kids spiritually in Christ or something else because he will lead them in something else. The "it is too hard to ignore" is Jesus calling you back.

Aka just because someone is tempted by the flesh does not mean that they are an atheist or non-christian. Remember Jesus was tempted by the flesh in the desert.
---Scott1 on 2/12/12

True Atheists are given to philisophical thought like Pilate ("What is truth?") who was friendly to Jesus. True 'down to earth' Atheists are basically like the Athenians in Acts chapter 17 that admired the noble qualities of peace, truth, and justice (Paul told them about 'that which you ALREADY worship'). They are NOT necessarily ANTI-creator ('ORIGIN SPIRIT'), they are anti 'christian mumbo jumbo' (there is an Atheist on this forum). They are truly "masters of themselves" and would enjoy knowing the "origin" as "Abba Father" without the false need to CONSTANTLY "worship" instead of simply PAY HOMAGE TO/honor the "origin" with the prayer offering of "goodness" behavior.

what do you want support for the fact he does not believe in god and you do or you both do not and you need help?
---curtis on 2/12/12

But I am falling for him, what do I do?
---Clawson on 2/11/12
Fallimg in love hhmm. What is wrong with the old fashiopn way?

Judges 21:20 Therefore they commanded the children of Benjamin, saying, Go and lie in wait in the vineyards,
Judges 21:21 And see, and, behold, if the daughters of Shiloh come out to dance in dances, then come ye out of the vineyards, and catch you every man his wife of the daughters of Shiloh, and go to the land of Benjamin.

Judges 21:23 And the children of Benjamin did so, and took [them] wives, according to their number, of them that danced, whom they caught:
