I wrote THE TRUE GOSPEL, and THE TRUE CHRIST. We all know you hate truth, and just like Satan, you will take truth and attempt to change it into a lie, Romans 1:25.

Throughout scripture, we are warned about FALSE GOD'S, FALSE CHRIST'S, and FALSE GOSPELS.

I am not sure where you are from. But where I am from, when you want to be a critic, and some want to be critics of Ellen white, then you must read her books.

That is why I issued a challenge to read and discus the book. If you find something about the book to be against the gospel, then I invite all to say so.

What is not right or productive is to be a critic, when you have no idea what she says or when you are only giving third party information.

I have very little to say about Joseph smith, or D moody, because I have not spent time reading thier books. If i wanted to talk about them good or bad, it would be be only fitting to read thier book myself

francis, I do not think it is productive or even wise to read E.G White books. They are books from people who claim to be prophets as Muhammad, Charles T. Russell, Joseph Smith, Jim Jones, and a few here on line. In fact it sounds as if you also have written something or another, since you speak so much for the SDA's works for salvation. All today are fakes. There is no new revelation that has not been spoken of already. God did not forget anything. So there is nothing to be gain by reading about their believes, at least not for a genuine Christain born of the Spirit.

Steps to Christ does not echo traditional Adventist doctrine. One reviewer wrote -

"There are two errors against which the children of God--particularly those who have just come to trust in His grace--especially need to guard. The first, already dwelt upon, is that of looking to their own works, trusting to anything they can do, to bring themselves into harmony with God. He who is trying to become holy by his own works in keeping the law, is attempting an impossibility. All that man can do without Christ is polluted with selfishness and sin. It is the grace of Christ alone, through faith, that can make us holy." Steps to Christ p. 59.

That will answer all your questions.

How well do you know your " wet nurse?"
What did they do in the past?
How well do we test the milk of wet nurse verse cows milk?

Nor is this all. She also imparts her temper and her temperament to the nursing child. The child's life is linked to hers. If the hireling is a coarse type of woman, passionate and unreasonable, if she is not careful in her morals, the nursling will be, in all probability, of the same or similar type

I mentioned earlier that EGW said that wet nurses should not be used, as the child will pick up the bad qualities and habits of the wet nurse with her milk. (Of course, she never explained why such a child, if nursed by the birthmother, would not pick up her failing, too.)

That means you should not give a baby cow's milk, either, as the infant will pick up a tendency to run through grass and moo.

as much as i have read of the Steps to Christ, E. G. White 1892, I cannot find any doctrinal anomalies. but, i also do not find any doctrinal errors in Night Scenes in the Bible, Daniel March 1868-1870, both of which share the same words almost word-for-word.

also, a few years ago, i would come home to a preacher who gave great biblical sermons which seemingly packed a lot of truthful power. so, i went to see it live.

if they showed you what is taught and happens in private, you would never have put them together.

Largely true, however, Adventists will quickly point out Article 18 of the Fundamental Beliefs does state "They also make clear the Bible is the standard by which all teaching and experience must be tested."

The problem is that while the Bible is the standard, the SDA has mandated that Ellen White's unique teachings must be the ultimate guidance in interpretation.

There are far too many Bible scholars that have more studied and supportable interpretations of the Bible than those of Adventism.

You are not even viewed as a Christian by Adventists since you do not observe the Sabbath and that is basically what Article #19 states.

I've read the ravings of EGW (which is what SDA means by "the Spirit of Prophecy," Christians say this means the Holy Spirit) and posted excerpts from them here.

She was nothing more than a wizadress that peeped and muttered who channeled demons.

I know she got a big surprise when she died and found out there was no soul sleep, as well as for whom she had been the mouthpiece. I pray Jesus was merciful to her, since in the state of possession one's will is suspended.

Compare the book STEPS TO CHRIST, with the 27 FUNDAMENTAL BELIEFS OF SDA's.

Another SUBTLE DECEPTION SDA's won't tell you which proves they are a cult and Anti-Christ. They won't tell you EGW is their GOD.

Read the First Commandment.
Jesus is God, The Word of God, and said all AUTHORITY ON HEAVEN AND EARTH HAS BEEN GIVEN HIM.

In number 18 of their fundamental belifs, SDA's say the writings of EGW, (NOT CHRIST), is their CONTINUING and AUTHORITATIVE source of truth.

SDA's say the writings of EGW are of equal quality of the Bible, and no Christian library is complete unless it includes the writings of EGW.

I am reading Steps to Christ by Fannie Bolton as published by Ellen White & company. So far I have no real objections to what I have read.

As for the books published by White, one needs to acknowledge the proven fact that she borrowed extensively from other authors, however, often inserted her own ideas into these books. So not everything she published is objectable.

Cults often succeed in gaining followers by using truth that has doctrinal errors conveniently placed.

BUT the following STC quotes all talk of commandment keeping as proof of salvation. This is works and not grace contradicting EGW's claim above.

"obedience is not a mere outward compliance, but the service of love."
"obedience is the fruit of faith"
"will not the law of God be carried out in the life?"

EGW preaches works, not grace. Even SDAs fail at proving their own salvation by her doctrine.

Since we are sinful, unholy, we cannot perfectly obey the holy law. We have no righteousness of our own with which to meet the claims of the law of God. But Christ has made a way of escape for us. He lived on earth amid trials and temptations such as we have to meet. He lived a sinless life. He died for us, and now He offers to take our sins and give us His righteousness. Your quotes from EGW's book only convinces me of the SDA's grace + Works of the law doctrine.

Even the lifestyle of SDA's is proof of the error of EGW.

On Goodreads, Steps to Christ is rated by reviewers as 4.76 stars out of 5.

While most will not find the book particular offensive, it really does not portray Adventist doctrine.

As posted before, it is more likely that the original author was not Ellen White but Fannie Bolton, one of Ellen White's secretaries. I say that because it is well known that Ellen White was in the habit of borrowing extensively from other authors.

I have the book on my Kindle and it can be acquired for as little as $0.99.

Whether it is worth the read is another question especially for those that are already Christian and well versed in the Bible. And that is what one reviewer wrote.

He who is trying to become holy by his own works in keeping the law, is attempting an impossibility. All that man can do without Christ is polluted with selfishness and sin. It is the grace of Christ alone, through faith, that can make us holy.

I've read more of EGW than you and jerry have COMBINED of the ancient Christian writers called the Fathers.

So I know what I'm talking about when I comment on EGW, more than you do when you talk about the Fathers.

Many that have read several of ellen white's books have heeded the call to "come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues" Rev. 18:4.

The most ardent and vocal of anti-Adventists are the former Adventists, many of whom were pastors, theologians and students of the Bible.

So your assumption that those who are critical of ellen white & company as well as ignorant of the Bible really has not merit.

There are so many of you who are quick to speak against Ellen G White. And here I create an opportunity for you to stop with the propaganda, read STEPS TO CHRIST, and post your honest comments

The fact that so many are not willing to read the book for themselves, but continue to speak aainst her tells me that you are not honest with your own selves.

You are willing to be busybodies, tale bearers, and gossips.

One need not condemn everything that Ellen White reportedly wrote as it has been proven that she plagiarized much of her works.

Adventists are just too stupid to realize that the Jerusalem council Acts 15 did not request that Gentiles become uncircumcised Jews to be legitimate. And as such, circumcision, observance of the Sabbath and the dietary laws were not required of Gentile believers. Early church history proves that much.

We should realize that Adventists are much like sport fans that promote their team over others, but fail to realize that they really have not been given any special annointing by God to criticize others that are in Christ.

Both good points made by Karen and Trish.
But we don't need to read EGW's book. Francis shares EGW's teachings on CN so much that we know her doctrine is one of grace + works of the law.
EGW's teachings are error and, as Cluny accurately said about EGW's book: "the book should be called "steps FROM Christ."

Romans 10:6-9 describes the IMMEDIACY of Christ, even to those who do not know Him.

Even the Psalter prophecies this. "If I ascend into heaven, You are there. If I lie down in sheol, You are there. If I fly away to the farthest sea, You are still there." (Paraphrase of Ps 139/138LXX)

Therefore, EGW's (or whoever's) notion that there are necessary "steps to Christ"--the premise of this book--is flawed ab initio.

There is really not much wrong with the book but there has been an accusation by some researchers that the book was originally written by someone else.

"The most likely author of the book is Fannie Bolton. Ms. Bolton joined Ellen White's staff in 1888, and Steps to Christ was published in 1892. Later, Ms. Bolton would claim that she wrote the book and Mrs. White took the manuscript and published it under her name" according to Dirk Anderson in his book the White Lie.

I was on the fence about following JESUS but reading this book convinced me to follow JESUS.

How does this quote lead away from JESUS?

It is impossible for us, of ourselves, to escape from the pit of sin in which we are sunken. Our hearts are evil, and we cannot change them. "Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one." "The carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be." Job 14:4, Romans 8:7.

There must be a power working from within, a new life from above, before men can be changed from sin to holiness. That power is Christ. His grace alone can quicken the lifeless faculties of the soul, and attract it to God, to holiness.

So Cluny what passage in Steps to Christ leads away from him? Give an example. Here is another quote.

This is the same figure to which Christ referred in His conversation with Nathanael, when He said, "Ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man." John 1:51. In the apostasy, man alienated himself from God, earth was cut off from heaven. Across the gulf that lay between, there could be no communion. But through Christ, earth is again linked with heaven. With His own merits, Christ has bridged the gulf which sin had made, so that the ministering angels can hold communion with man. Christ connects fallen man in his weakness and helplessness with the Source of infinite power.
