"Since the mid-19th century when the movement sprang up in New Hampshire, Seventh-day Adventism has had an urgent mission to bring the gospel with a distinctive emphasis on Christ's imminent second coming to the ends of the earth. Adventists find the essence of their mission in Revelation 14:12, where the end of the age "calls for patient endurance on the part of the people of God who keep his commands and remain faithful to Jesus."

Francis: "If I had intended to quote you, it would have come before and not after your name, so you will have to let it pass."

Perhaps this is yet another cultic deceptive practice - misquoting those with whom one disagrees.

Sorry jonweckl but you are going to haver to let this one pass. If you go back to the post you will see that it was not you that I was quoting, but the author of the article. The quotation marks started before " adventist" and ended at the end of the authors quote.
"Adventists' back-to-basics faith is fastest growing U.S. church" is the title given to the article.

Do you see the lie and deceit you have been so accustomed to? I never said that which you quoted me as saying. What i reacted to was what you said: "..the SDA church is the fastest growing worldwide" Big difference there Francis, but i guess you don't see that.

"Adventists..is fastest growing U.S. church"

That is what is meant by the phrase " law of God," or "commandments of God."
It referrs ONLY to the commmandments spoken DIRECTLY by God.

the Law of Moses is what is spoken DIRECTLY to israel by Moses

At the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established. But no one was in the mountain with Moses. So how many witnesses could varify that what moses commanded came from God.

Take sacrifices for example:
Jeremiah 7:22 For I (GOD)spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices:

So burnt offerings or sacrifices: " THE commandment of God?"
---francis on 5/27/12

Cults are identified by their exclusiveness.

We are the only ones that observe the commandments of God and have the testimony of jesus Christ, they quote Revelation 12:17.

They are all too often hypocritical as they boast to observe the 10 commandments but it is obvious they break them by slandering others that are Christians.

jonweckl WAIT! there is more good news:

USA TODAY
G. Jeffrey MacDonald, Religion News
"Many in the general public have noticed Adventists tend to be superstars of good health and longevity, research shows they tend to live 10 years longer than the average American."

Deuteronomy 7:11 Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them... And the LORD will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee, but will lay them upon all them that hate thee

Do you think that there is some connection between SDA living longer and healthier than most and their obedience to God?
---francis on 5/27/12

Perhaps it's because of the deceptive practices of those claiming to be Christian that are so willing to outright lie about other churches. Many have come to our church out of curiosity...only to find out that we use the Bible every bit as much as the Book of Mormon, that we follow Jesus Christ - the SAME Jesus Christ as other Christian churches. Not to mention the fact that Mormons are actually ENCOURAGED to study on their own and to ask questions. After learning they've been lied to about these simple things, I imagine they question a lot more of what they've been taught by their preachers.
---HappyLDS on 5/27/12

//What is truely amazing is that the SDA church is not on the decline, unlike most churches. It is the fastest growing church in terms of converts. ....

We discussed this issue before. The fact is that the Mormon Church is growing faster than the SDA and the Jehovah's Witnesses are doing very well in their recruitment as well.

People are searching for the truth but will not find it in the faith-works theologies of these cults.

The Bible indicates that the church of the end of times will be an apostate church.

Re 18:4 ..., Come out of her, my people, lest you take part in her sins, lest you share in her plagues,
---lee1538 on 5/27/12

Cults are those isolating themselves & members from society aka FLDS. Other denominations claiming they have the only truth & you must be baptized today to be saved (aka church of christ)are just false pastors/leaders decieving the flock. Under this rule are the Mormons,Jehovah's Witnesses,Church of Christ,Independent fundementilist baptist, catholic & any other name saying again they are the only truth for Christ, ignoring many other church denominations faithfully serving Christ in the right way.

Francis> "The rest they heard MOSES VOICE not God's voice" --So what?!

So a command spoken directly by God's voice is a commandment of God, but a command given by God but was spoken by Moses or Jesus Christ IS NOT a commandment of God?! Stupid logic.

"God... hath in these last days SPOKEN UNTO US by His Son.." God's audible voice reaffirmed this "This is my beloved Son... hear ye him." (Mat.17:5) Christ also said "...the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's.." (Jhn14:24). So, any commandment given by the Son is not his but the Father's.

But for Francis, he'd probably say "Sorry God, since it's not your voice i hear, then it's not your commandment."

"Adventists..is fastest growing U.S. church

Newly released data show Seventh-day Adventism growing by 2.5% in North America, a rapid clip for this part of the world, where Southern Baptists and mainline denominations, as well as other church groups are declining. Adventists are even growing 75% faster than Mormons (1.4 percent), who prioritize numeric growth.

Diana Syth of Kent, Wash. attended many types of Protestant churches for years. But she said she "never got the information I needed to know about what it meant to be a Christian" until she and her husband learned of Seventh-day Adventism from a sibling six years ago."

Thanks Lee1538, My point exactly!

This is what God told moses to teach israel. It has nothing to do with the ten commandments which God spoke to israel himself.

So here is my question:

Since it was only God and Moses in the mountain, and no one HEARD what God said to Moses, how then could Israel be sure that what Moses told them was what God has said to him?

What is truely amazing is that the SDA church is not on the decline, unlike most churches. It is the fastest growing church in terms of converts. While some churches are growning fast mainly by infant birth rate, the SDA church is growing by conversion to christianity.

When people who have a heart to love and serve God hear the truth, they leave those other denominations and come to christ.

What is interesting is the huge number of books and articles written by former Adventists.

That alone should be a red flag for us to wonder what kind of cult Adventists is.

The Internet is full of articles and books can be ordered via Amazon. It is easy to research the problems with their beliefs.

The tactic often used by Adventists according to former Adventists is that they do not tell their victim upfront what they beleive. Most will not even hear of Ellen White and her disgusting beliefs until after they are baptized into the religion.

And too much of their 'pillars of faith' are from her writing ONLY.

Francis //Lev. 27:34 These are the commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses for the children of Israel in mount Sinai.

In CONTEXT, this chapter speaks about dedicated persons and things, nothing about the 10 commandments.

Again, you raise the issue if rather the 10 commandments are of more importance than what God commanded Moses.

If you view only the 10 commandments as binding, everything else being the law of Moses, why then does your church demand the tithe?

Isa 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

Of course, in context the verse refers to mediums and necromancers but such was Ellen White.

Shira, when I was searching for a Church, after I left the military I visited many Baptist Churches.

From the things I saw, and from studying the Bible, I knew they were not a place to be if I truly wanted to learn and grow closer to Christ. Also, I am not saying all Baptist Churches are like the ones I visited.

If I was searching for a place that was religous, James 1:16-17, or a place to have my ears tickled, 2 Timothy 4:3-4, these Churches I visited would have been perfect

But I was was searching for a Church which taught God's Truths, even if it meant it would sometimes hurt, Hebrews 4:12-13.

After years of searching, I am thanful I found a place called The Berean Bible Church. We take our name from Acts 17:11.

This is the best you can do? the prophecy was fulfilled in one day at pentecost?

Look at other places years after pentecost:
ABOUT 10 years after pentecost:
Acts 19:6 And when Paul had laid [his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them, and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

FOUR YEARS after pentecost:
Acts 10:45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 10:46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

Be carefull I still have the nost powerful stuff yet to come
---francis on 5/25/12

Francis, now I understand what others here are saying... You really do have a closed mind.

"It has nothing to do with what jesus commands" -- Didn't Jesus himself said that the words he speak are not his own but the Father's? So even in your reasoning that it was jesus who commanded it, whose commands are those?

"Called the law of Moses because Moses taught it directly." --you're so close-minded you did not even notice the contradiction in your statement. "...which I COMMANDED unto him" (Mal.4:4) So who commanded it? The actual audible voice may have been from Moses but whose commands are those?
---jonweckl on 5/25/12

---jonweckl Study the phrase " commandments of God."

Let me help you get started: In both accounts of the ten commandments we find this phrase which solidifies the ten commandmebts as " the commandments of God."

Exodus 20:6 Keep my commandments.
Deuteronomy 5:10 keep my commandments.

Then we have this phrase: Deuteronomy 5: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone

The rest of the commandments were not taught or written directly by God, but by Moses, and are called: the commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses for the children of Israel in mount Sinai. Leviticus 27:34

or THE LAW OF MOSES my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb . Malachi 4:4

Francis, you're showing an example of the Deceptive Tactics of Cults

Joel 2 was a prophesy, the fulfillment of which was explained in Acts2. Curiously enough, you left out v.16 "but THIS IS WHAT WAS SPOKEN of through the prophet Joel" and then you gave v.17.

This was when the Holy Spirit filled them and they began to speak in tongues and some mocked that they are drunk. So Peter stood and explained it to the crowd "...these men are not drunk... but THIS IS what was spoken of through the prophet Joel" (Acts2:15-16)

Do not use that prophesy to try to prove EGWs visions. The prophesy in Joel2:28 have been fulfilled -- it was with the apostles.. the true witnesses of Christ"

I want to see if they will answer the questions, what their answer(s) will be, or if they will avoid answering the questions by running from them, or coming up with some sort of reteric.

Why did God humble Himself and take on the form of humanity, through the lowly birth as Christ Jesus?

Why did He allow Himself to be mocked, beaten, then nailed to a coss, and die?

Francis> "Deut 5:22.. AND HE ADDED NO MORE " So you mean baptism is not a commandment?

"GO...and make disciples... BAPTIZING them..."(Mat.28:19) Is this a command? "Go..."
"..Arise, and be baptized..." (Acts22:16) "And he COMMANDED them to be baptized" (Act.10:48)

Remember Christ said "... to observe ALL things WHATSOEVER I have COMMANDED you..." (Mat.28:20)

So when Christ said Go and baptize them, it should be followed because He also said to observe ALL he commanded. Now again, my question, is baptism a commandment? Is it in the 10Cs? And i'm just using one simple example: baptism, yet you cannot answer me simply.

Francis, didn't you get the contradiction I was trying to point in my question?

If according to your fundamental beliefs, "5: The Bible is Gods inspired word, and IS THE FULL, SUFFICIENT, and the ONLY basic rule of faith and practice."

Why would God need to show any vision to EGW? If as you said:

1. the bible is SUFFICIENT -- meaning it does not need any help/any supplement.
2. it is THE FULL -- so there would be no need to add to it.
3. THE ONLY -- only, meaning there should be no other.

So if we accept that EGW's books/visions are from God. These are useless things (because the bible is already sufficient, full, and is THE ONLY basis -- according to you.
---jonweckl on 5/25/12

Francis, in the "Required by death for sabbath blog," My question is very simple, How is sabbath observed in the 10Cs? Why can you not answer that simple question?

I will show you the "sabbath" for christians some other time.

Then you said, "2: If sabbath is for OT only, why is it in the new earth?"

Where does it say from the verses you cited that sabbath is in the new earth? v.22 what will remain is your seed and your name. v.23 sabbath was not the point of the verse but the fact that all flesh will come to worship before the Lord. The sabbath (as was the new moon) was used simply to show the time -- new moon to new moon, sabbath to sabbath -- implying it would be always...day in day out.

flattery and false promise (fiction) are definite ways to draw you. they play on our unknown fears

think back to the start. the serpent drew on fear of the unknown (death)..."you surely will not die". and false promise bordering on flattery...your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God.

Craig said,

"convincing you that if you don't believe EXACTLY as they do then you have the wrong Jesus and have made up your own god. They fail to follow the instruction of Romans chapter 14."

Only the Spirit of God can convince you you have the wrong Jesus. For the Spirit testifies of Christ. Rom. 14 is speaking about believers judging other believers, "Indeed, He will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand"

Jed, I believe if a person joins a cult because they are deceived, it is because that person was never born of the Spirit to begin with. They can try, but they can never change you into an unborn spiritual person. Once you are born of the Spirit you remain born again.

Cults typically try to suck you in with fear - convincing you that if you don't believe EXACTLY as they do then you have the wrong Jesus and have made up your own god. They fail to follow the instruction of Romans chapter 14.

yes, and they do not teach anything about Jesus as it is obvious that that SDA pukes believe one is saved by obedience to the law.

"...Your chief complaint aganst SDA is that they teach THE LAW..."--francis on 5/22/12
Gal 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law, ye are fallen from grace.
Act 15:21(NLT) For these laws of Moses have been preached in Jewish synagogues in every city on every Sabbath for many generations.
1Co 1:23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness,
Gal 3:12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
Rom 14:23b ...for whatsoever [is] not of faith is sin.
Gal 3:1a O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth...

All worldly denomiantional churches are cults in themselves each having their own rituals, traditions, ways of living and interpretations of the bible. Satan is the creator of these denominations which divided christiandom into these cults.

You say that because you do not follow THE BIBLE

The BIBLE sets the doctrine for those who are false teachers, you call them cults:

Isaiah 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

Your chief complaint aganst SDA is that they teach THE LAW. The bible makes that a mark of those who have the light of God

MarkV, it sounds like you are talking about the Jehovah's Witness or Mormon missionaries coming to your door. While some may consider them cults (which I'm not going to debate), they are still quite "normal" and civilized compared to other cults. Real cults are very desceptive, manipulative, and even secretive. Most cults will not go door to door trying to recruit new members. A cult leader will usually hand pick their followers because they desire people who have a particular weakness they can prey upon. Often times it will be broken families who have no real guidance or security. The leader becomes a "savior" to these broken people.

Francis> "...you do not have to keep the commandments/laws of God."

Agree with you there... partly.

Note, however, that you used a very general statement there "the commandments/laws of God." I hope you don't go and jump into the conclusion again that THIS IS the 10Cs.

Just saying...
---jonweckl on 5/22/12

francis, I believe that if someone comes to my door preaching the Ten Commandments he is a believer in works of the law. And has not believed in Jesus freedom of the law. They are still in darkness and not in the light. The gospel is the good news. The good news is that there is a Savior who died for our sins against God and that only through Him is salvation found. That if they confess with their mouth the Lord Jesus Christ and believe in their hearts that God raised Him from the dead they will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Jed, there is another thing I learned. I can't say it is true concerning all cults, but from experience I can say it is true about SDA's.

From experience of what happened in my home, and what I saw happening in other SDA families, when a man becomes SDA he becomes a tyrant.

Don't believe me because I said this, look through these blogs and see how Francis and Jerry interacts with those who expose SDA herisies.

The bible alrready tell you waht to look for:
Isaiah 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

Be aware of those who tell you that you do not have to keep the commandments/ laws of God.

The BIBLE says that there is no light in them

Rob, I don't believe cults use any kind of deceptive practices to get inside the doors of people houses since that is what you asked. In fact they are very kind and courteous, and very sincere. Most people I know that have come to my house are very kind. They are not here to debate the word of God, they have an agenda prepared on what they are going to say about what they believe. If you get agitated they know not to argue and kindly leave. If you begin to debate with them, they then know you are prepared with the Word and most of the time they will leave. When witnesses come to your house they come in pairs. One is learning while the other one is showing the other how to present what they believe.

Jed, what you wrote on 5/22/12 brought back memories.

My parents became SDA when I was in High School.

Even though I was in High School, and legally I was a minor, I clearly remember being told I would become SDA or find another place to live.

The SDA's will share the scripture instructing children to obey their parents in the Lord, and will say I was rebelling against my parents.

When I shared with these SDA's it says to obey parents in the Lord, and not in some WACKED OUT CULT, these people had no defense and ran from this like it was a plague.

The practices and tricks of cults can be like those that get people married to the wrong people. It's not only cults. We need to get wise to how we can fool our own selves. One basic is if I am trying to use people, there are people who know how to hold out the bait that I am willing to bite. But if I submit to God, He leads me according to all He knows is true.

"They zealously court you, but for no good, yes, they want to exclude you, that you may be zealous for them." (Galatians 4:17) < not just a cult tactic! Isolating you with flattery so you think someone is so great, just because one says you are (c: lolololol

One of their most effective tactics is control by turning family members against you. They keep you in line through the threat of being ostricized from your own family and friends.
---Jed on 5/22/12

1)They promise everlasting life if their principles are adhered to.
2) The promise to be relieved of everlasting torture in a future life, for "sins" committed in your real life.
3) They allow you to feel superior to others who are not in the group.
4) They use symbols and icons, such as a cross or a star, to create unanimity and identity.
---atheist on 5/21/12
I agree 100% that is why my savior died for me. And yes I have fallen into the trap of the list above but God is getting me out into a relationship with Jesus not the image of Jesus

The three most common practices the cults use as hooks are fear, flattery, and false promises.
---Catholicus on 5/21/12

They try to hook you on some truth of the Bible and afterwards introduce much that is untrue.

For instance ADventists will pitch the observance of the Sabbath but will definitely NOT tell you that its observance is NOT commanded in the New Testament, that like physical circumcision it was not mandated to the church.
