Do Christians need to have confidence in them self or in God?

Not being saved is about self confidence.

Being saved is about trusting in the Lord, and the promises in the Bible.

No way, No how. And a good question! No self confidence, leave it to the unbelievers. We are to put all of our trust and confidence in the Living God. Unbelievers has more confidence than I do, and I belong to the Living God. What gives? They think they are going to get away with what they do. I've heard from God on this::Come on Jesus. We can feel good about ourselves, hey, we got saved from HELL. We have a future, HEAVEN. We can love God. Him love on us. Goooood!

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Philippians 2:12-15 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your OWN salvation with fear and trembling. For it IS God which worketh in you both to will and to do of HIS good pleasure.Do all things without murmurings and disputings:That ye may be blameless and harmless, THE SONS OF GOD, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world,

we are given free choice & most of the time we have to believe & stand for what we believe. we are to work & in order to function in your job you have to have confidence & skill so you can do your job. many televangelist have used malachi for you to succeed.

erisan: Don't you blame yourself sometimes for errors you commit even when others are yet to notice it? Even somethings that you have done many times successfully can make you look like a fool at some other attempts. From your 2 options, please 1st choose the ONE that is guaranteed not to fail.

"Do Christians need to have confidence in them self or in God?"
"[It is] better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man." Psa 118:8
"Put not your trust in princes, in [a] son of man, in whom [there is] no help." Psa 146:3
"Thus saith the LORD, Cursed [be] the man that trusts in man, and makes flesh his arm, and whose heart departs from the LORD." Jer 17:5

in 2 samuel 10:12 the israelits said 'be strong & LET US FIGHT BRAVELY...'
the parable of the stewards said 'you gave me 2 talents & I went out & made 2 more...'
isn't that self confidence?
christians say that god is NOT a magician who obey our orders in the name of god confidence...christians have become lazy thinking that god will take care of everything...televangelist & pastors have developed 'tithe-mentality' money will just come down from heaven without working. it is the failure of the teachers/pastors to explain god-confidence' properly...it has become 'sit down & god will take care of everything'. well that is another word for laziness

Much better to trust in yourself than to live with guilt and shame because you don't think your trust in a god is sufficient.

You can have confidence in WHO you are in Christ Jesus....you are the Righteousness of God through Christ Jesus. You are more than a conqueror through Him who loves us.
Put your confidence in God and He will never fail you nor forsake you.

as i teach my son how to catch a grounder, do i tell him to have confidence or do i tell him that God may or may not put the ball in his glove?
---aka on 6/16/12

God is kind and caring and sweet and personal in love, and I need to be. So, I guess I don't need to have confidence in myself the way I am now (c: But become how He wants, and have confidence in how He makes me become.

This sounds like a loaded question.

Sometimes, we have to have confidence in God's mercy that we are doing the right things.

And the word is "themselves".

Glory to JEsus Christ!
