African American's For Obama

In February of this year, president Obama announced the 2012 launch of his new campaign called "African American's for Obama". How would you feel if Mitt Romney launched a campaign called "Whites for Romney"? How do you think the media would respond?

Jed: I was being sarcastic about Romney's Whites Only Super Pacs and donors.

As for Fox's reaction, you asked me what I thought might happen. I told you.

And, as I pointed out, on the Women for Obama website, there is a list of about 16 different groups supporting Obama's campaign, including Latinos, Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders, Jewish Americans, and Seniors.

"...in the news this year. As of 2012, WHITES are the minority in the U.S. The majority is all of the other races combined. It's a shame [our representatives in WDC] don't reflect the true racial composition of the majority of our country."
---Trish on 7/7/12

I think it's a shame any of us Americans are racially labeled "minor" while others are thought to be "major". That's like saying one group is inferior & others are superior. Why can't we just be a melting pot of ethic diverse people, all living & working towards one common uniting goal? FREEDOM!!!

By God's grace & mercy, our imperfect but working democracy is what makes the USA the premier superpower in the world.
---Leon on 7/9/12

In my opinion, President Obama is doing a good job considering the mess he inherited. Because he's an African-American, he has had to work twice...as hard as other Presidents just to get almost the level of respect they were given. The President is sworn to "constitutionally" do the will of we (ALL) the people. He is not pastor in chief, ethnic flavor in chief or anything else. He's the duly elected President of & by "we the people" ~ nothing more or less!

There's nothing wrong with any President seeking supporters. We all do that, 1st with our families & friends. So, is "African Americans for Obama" really wrong? Look at who Romney is courting for support. It's ok, that's the American way! :)

This is a very valid question because it's heart issue, specifically as it pertains to the evil thoughts & conversations of people (professing Christians & nonChristians). (Matthew 15:10-20)
---Leon on 7/9/12

MarkV, I would rather have Hilary than Obama too. In fact, in the 2008 primarys I actually voted as a democrat for Hilary. But when I saw that Obama had one the democratic nomination, I voted for McCain in the General Election. I could see right through Obama from the very beginning. Although I must be honest, I didn't know it would be THIS bad. I kew he would advance the socialist agenda in this country, I didn't know he'd do it so quickly and overstep the law and the bounds of his office to do it.
---Jed on 7/9/12

nurse robert, you go ahead and vote for a socialist who could never prove he was born in america. black people rally for him. It has already been proven the elections were corrupt. I hope you have enough money to pay for drs and hospital if he elected again. my husband spent 23 years in the military so we could have health coverage but now medicare has taken over military health care and is also secondary insurance. maybe my husband wasted his time and life for nothing. I had to buy a bipap machine because medicare makes it almost impossible to buy one even tho it has saved my life. it cost me $1750.00. also my co pay from tri care has tripled. so you go ahead and vote for your socialist. I'm sure he is gonna need your vote.
---shira4368 on 7/9/12

Jerry, Statistics are a wonderful thing. You can make them say just about anything you want. Consistantly 80 to 90% of black people vote democratic. While I have no doubt that a goodly number voted for Obama becuase he was black, I suspect most would have voted that way even if he was white.

With the exception of 3 states, McCain won all of the southen states. How many people voted AGAINST Obama becuase he was black?

There are racists in every race. You seem to be the one who has an issue with "Africian Americans for Obama". Why is that??
---NurseRobert on 7/9/12

Jerry, using your logic, the first 43 presidential elections were also racist, because 100% of the whites voted for a white president.
---Trish on 7/9/12

One definition of racism would be if 90% of a population segment voted for a political candidate of the same skin color. That did occur with Obama's election, and 90% is much too high to be a coincidence.

---jerry6593 on 7/9/12

Jed, you asked two questions and were answered with condemnation. I waited for an answer. I always vote the Christian way. This time I have to vote for Romney, for two reason, because we are heading to be a Socialist country, and because he is more for values of the Christian faith. I begin to see Obama's side when he sided with the Palestinians instead of Israel.
Just stop to think that Obama's history is not known, supposely he had girl friends and none are ever found, yet in order to win, he was found to bring a better chance of winning then Hilary. I would have supported Hilary over Obama, she had experience and would not take us the socialist way, not because she is white. Liberals don't care, they want everything free.

The Moderator(s) on ChristiaNet: how does this blog question relate to Christianity? Does it have any value for edification of Christians or would-be-Christians?
---Adetunji on 7/9/12

Trish, that is not true that Romney has a "Whites only" campaign. I also don't think it's true that Fox News would be supportive of a "Whites for Romney" campaign. I don't know of any public figures who would be okay with a "Whites for Romney" campaign. I don't think the OP was trying to justify a "Whites for Romney" campaign with this question. I think he was trying to comparitively show how racist the "African Americans" campaign is. Because most people don't think "african american" campaigns are racist but think that a "white" campaign is. In truth, both are racist.
---Jed on 7/9/12

Jed: I do not care what groups form to campaign for the candidates. I really don't. I'm not racist. I don't care that there is an African Americans for Obama group.

And, don't put words in my mouth. I never said I was supportive of the African Americans group campaigning for Obama. I simply explained MY understanding of how such groups formed. I was corrected. Big deal.

As for the media, I will guess that the MSNBC would be outraged and FOX would be in favor of it.

I'm not getting into an argument with you on this one. I've already made it abundantly clear that I am a Liberal. So what?

Besides, Romney already has his Whites only group in all his Super PACs and other donors.
---Trish on 7/8/12

Jed: I was just on the Women for Obama website, and there are 16 different groups organized to work toward Obama's re-election. In addition to women, there are Latinos, LGBT, Educators Seniors, Native Americans, Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders, and Jewish Americans, just to name a few.

Trish, come on, you expect us to believe that you would be as supportive of a "Whites for Romney" group as you are the "African Americans for Obama" campaign? If that is really true then you are racist. Anyone who would support either group is racist because singleing out races like this is segregation and is divisive.

And you honestly don't know how the media would react to a "Whites" campaign? I can tell you how they would react and so can any honest individual. You're only fooling yourself by suggesting that they would be anything other than completely outraged. And the fact that you don't care that there is a racist double standard among liberals and their media is even worse. Typical liberal.

Here are some facts:

1. The ObamaTax is the largest tax in U.S. history, and 70% of it will be imposed on the middle-class and the poor.

2. The number of working people has continually fallen since Obama took office.

3. Obama is a radical advocate for abortion, even asserting that a baby who survived an abortion attempt should be killed after it was already born.

4. Obama has shown more hostility toward people of Biblical faith than any president in history

5. Obama is an advocate for same-sex marriage, and has even imposed policies that are in direct violation of the Defense of Marriage Act.

Yet Leon will still vote for him because, well, at least he wont have to listen to the white guy.

--michael_e on 7/7/12

Mike_e: I love Morgan Freeman as an actor. He's a great talent. But, like you, he has it twisted by supposing it takes two African-American parents to make an African-American child. Absurd!

The facts are:

1.) His mother was caucasian (of Irish-American ancestry) & his father was an AFRICAN. So, he is one generation removed from his "African" ancestry.

2.) His being born in the United States (oh yes he was), makes him an AMERICAN.

3.) Barack Husein Obama is the 1st "AFRICAN AMERICAN" President.
---Leon on 7/7/12

leon, there are many black people in our government that is so far above obama. obama is a racist and a liar. everytime he gets in front of the camera and microphone, he tells another lie. Colin Powell would make a great president and so would Herman Cain. I would have voted for either one of them but if we don't get obama out of washington our country is doomed. He has already ruined a lot of America with his racist socialist views. as you can see I think he is the dumbest president we ever had and it isn't because he is black, its because he is stupid.

I have to agree with Morgan Freeman, Obama isn't an African-American, his mother was white, his father black, making him a mixed race president. ---michael_e on 7/7/12

That's interesting, Michael. Because Morgan Freeman is also the same person that said anyone who wants to make Obama a one-term president is automatically racist, even if it is because of his policies, simply because he is America's first black president. Morgan Freeman thinks everyone should be supportive of Obama because he is America's first black president and anyone who doesn't like him is a racist.

Morgan Freeman did not say anything about Obama being or not an African-American. All he said was that Obama is not pure black and therefore could not be said that he is the first 'black' president in american history.

Trish, you are a hypocrite, what Leon and you say is ok but not what others say. You must be a hard core liberal. If Romney launched a campaign 'whites for Romney' you would be up in arms, that it was racist. But does anyone make a big deal when an all african american campaign is made? not a chance.
They can have an all black college, but whites cannot have and all white college. Many a great man have lost their jobs and have been condemned for saying one racial word concerning blacks. Blacks now have the right to call each other and hispanics real bad names, but if a white person says the same words of blacks, he is condemned. Open your eyes. Everyone today, they feel, owes them. I know I don't owe them a thing, I never had a slave.

I know who voted for him, most blacks, hispanics and unions, liberals. None for what was good for the country but what was good for them. Most minorities want everything free. It's a cultural thing, in the United States, that Afros who want to do this are accepted to be acting as an organized group, in order to work against how they have been treated unequally. Not all Afros do this, though, because they know they are equal and that only very deeply wrong people are treating them as unequals . . . ones who have nothing real to offer them, anyway.

I have seen how if an Afro seeks to be equal to a greedy bigot, that person can also become a greedy bigot. It's "smarter" to receive how we are equal in Jesus . . . the real Jesus.

That's the beauty of America. Because of two different amendments, African Americans and Women can vote for any candidate they choose.

In a book I am reading, a Chinese woman is describing in vivid detail what her life was like as one of the student leaders prior to the massacre at Tianmen Square in Beijing, China. Instead of arguing over who votes for whom, and what special interest groups are campaigning for whomever they choose, we should be thanking God for our freedom to vote as we do, and for our First Amendment freedoms of religion, speech and to assemble.

All this petty bickering fails to do the one thing that is supposed to make us different than the unbelievers, and that is bring God the glory in our word and deed.

I am friends with some black people. they don't want to be referred to as african americans. they want to be called an american. the worst thing black people can be called is african american. most have never been to africa. I do agree blacks got obama in office because he planned to redistribute the wealth. He has done that in many areas. I do understand we have an employment problem but my friends work just as hard as anyone else and don't expect a handout. I do hope black americans don't vote for obama again. He has done nothing for black americans.

Obama does not launch these groups. Members of the Democratic National Committee who belong to that group of people form a group to better mobilize their campaign efforts. I belong to the "Women for Obama" group.

Jim, your touching a very sensitive subject, African Americans. People have to be careful what they say. The tables have been turned. You can have an "African Americans for Obama Campain, but if you even suggest a white campaign, all hell will come upon you, from the liberals. People vote for what is good for them, not what's good for the country. If every individual who claims to be a genuine Christian voted they would all be in one accord. We know we are not. The media is mostly liberal. If an African American makes a mistake or a bad comment about white people, not much happens, but if a white person makes a mistake he is crucified the rest of his life. They are now paying for the sins of their forefathers. It's pay back.

This is simply another false hood manifested by the Obama administration and the DNC because Obama is not legally Black as a person would have to be 1/8 Black by US Government definitions [OEO].

Obamas ethnicity is 8/16 white, 7/16 Arab and only 1/16 Black so legally Obama is a white/Arab cross breed, so Obama is a shoe in for the Muslim vote in the USA. Hopefully a high percentage of the Blacks in the USA will wake up to what a miserable scum bag Obamas leadership has been and vote Republican in November 2012.

PG 1, cut me a break. "They" is a legitimate word, and it was used in proper context. Plus, I didn't say you couldn't vote from knowledge, but that Obama may think that you only voted for him because you are black. He's the one who insulted you, not me. (I was defending you.)

"...Blacks should decide whether they're Africans or Americans. How silly would it be for whites to call themselves 'european-americans'? We're either Americans or we're not. Besides, to vote for a candidate because of...skin color is RACIST...

Have you noticed "they", i.e., German, Polish, Italian, Irish-Americans, etc., all have their distinct ethnic group activities & festivities? So, are you saying to do away with the culture "they" cherish & let's all just be Americans?

Whites in America are subtly identified as the "majority" by labeling everyone else "minorities". What do you think about that Jerry?

I think that the time has come that we dispense with the hyphenated names. Blacks should decide whether they are Africans or Americans. How silly would it be for whites to call themselves "european-americans"? We are either Americans or we are not. Besides, to vote for a candidate because of his skin color is RACIST no matter what your skin color.

It is not a complaint against Obama. It is a response to how many African Americans felt - that is, felt oppressed. If a group feels oppressed, they will vote for whoever seems most against the current system -like the hippies in the 60s

Catholicus, if you don't care enough to pay attention to what's going on in government, then you deserve what is coming.

Wivv,
I am a "they" as you so eloquently put it. God has gifted me and every other African American whom He created in His image with ability to think and make intelligent decisions. I did not vote for President Obama because he is black. I voted and will vote for him because he is genuinely concerned about the needs of everyone in this country, not just a select few. By the way whites are for Romney and I could care less.
---pg1 on 7/6/12

It's really an insult to African American's. Obama thinks they CAN'T think, and will just vote for him because they are black. He is really saying they don't have enough intelligence to vote on his record. The media, for the most part, is very liberal and Obama's pet, so they will lap it up like a cat to milk.
