Salvation is a free gift without any work whatsoever. (Eph. 2:8-9) Salvation is not dependent upon walking the aisle, joining the church, being baptized, turning over a new leaf, asking for forgiveness of your sins or inviting Christ into your heart.

Forgiveness is available to all who believe that Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again and that God forgave us for Christs sake. (I Cor. 15:1-4) Salvation is trusting completely in what Christ did in our behalf at Calvary. (Eph. 1:13)

Cluny, the passages of the tares and wheat is a parable. A story of gathering of people, where ever that maybe. In a visible church, cave, a home, or out in the park, concerts, movies, houses etc. Where ever people gather, there is wheat and tares mixed together. The visible church is just another place where people gather together. The answer to the parable is found in (Matt. 13:36-43).

\\It is not the gospel of salvation merely to believe in Jesus, the devils do that\\
---michael_e on 12/28/12

NOWHERE does scripture say that any devil "believes in" Jesus. You need to learn what "believe in" means

And those other religions? No, Hindus and Mormons and Muslims, etc don't accept Jesus, obey Jesus, or anything of the sort - no matter what name they call him.

Because if he's not the Word of God made flesh, who died, was buried, and rose, according to scripture, Then he's not a Savior.
---James_L on 12/28/12

It is not the gospel of salvation merely to believe in Jesus, the devils do that (Mark 1:24, James 2:19).
It is not the gospel to love Jesus with all our heart, the Muslims do that as well.

Making Jesus Lord is something the Mormons include in their theology, and every good Hindu accepts Jesus (they accept thousands of gods).

None of the beliefs above can save you from Gods rightful judgment against our sins. Paul clearly states the gospel of our salvation in 1 Cor 15:3-4. Accept or reject it your choice

"salvation is not based on the outward appearance but the inward faith." michael_e

Talk is cheap. Quoting verses after verses from the Scriptures and yet having no understanding is another thing all together. You forget that sometimes the outward appearance is a reflection of the inward person. Hence Christ's warning, You will know them by their fruits".

And what a fruit you have as confessed by your own heart - "Knowing who Jesus is, is not enough to save you." - is enough to tell me that "inward faith" you have is nothing but a big sounding gong. All noise.
---christan on 12/28/12

salvation is not based on the outward appearance but the inward faith. Some have no faith in the Christs finished work, even though they put a lot of effort in pursuing spiritual things (2 Tim 3:7).

These so-called Christians participate in ministries and don't know or believe the gospel of grace of God.

There are so-called Christians who judge salvation by a persons lifestyle (Titus 3:5). They are wrong to do so.

There are saved people who justify their own sinful behavior with liberty (1 Cor 6:12, Rom 6:15). They are wrong to do so.

There are Christians everywhere who participate in ministries but deny the gospel of the grace of God (2 Cor 11:13). They are wrong to do so.

"What was told to Abraham won't save you." michael_e

Firstly, what saved Abraham and every other saint is the "gift of faith from God... But without faith it is impossible to please Him..."

"And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." John 17:3

You were saying? The gospel you have is truly indeed one from the pits of hell and that's because you claim "Knowing who Jesus is, is not enough to save you." With this gospel you have, you most definitely do not have eternal life according to Christ.

Strongaxe, you are right. I did not explain it better. I should have been more careful. I did say,

"In this case, Mark_V. said "The church of Christ has reached the apostasy level already".

I did not make a mistake, because I thought Cluny would know already that in the visible church there are many tares. Unless he thought they were are saints. But you are correct. I should have mentioned what Church I was talking about. But I explained it later. To make sure both of you understood. I will be more aware next time I answer. Peace
---Mark_V. on 12/28/12

Although every man at any time is saved by the grace of God through faith, the content of faith differs from one dispensation to the next. That is, the message that is offered and believed for righteousness and salvation varies according to Gods progressive revelation.
---michael_e on 12/27/12

michael_e, you need to takle some time to consider what it means to be " A HOLY GOD."

THE HOLY GOD,having established before the flod, what animals are clean, and what animals are unclean, would never ask anyone to eat that which is unclean.

That action would be contrary to a HOLY GOD to ask of anyone to eat what is unclean

It would be contrary of the judgment of God to have anyone burn in the lake of fire for eating whatis unclean, and have some enjoy the pleasures of eternity who also ate what was unclean

Psalms 98:9 Before the LORD, for he cometh to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity.

EQUITY, same sin, same judgment
---francis on 12/27/12

Mark_V.:

Jesus never said there would be some kind of threshold below which the Church was faithful, and above which it was apostate. He said there would ALWAYS be wheat and tares mixed together. There would never be a time when it was 100% faithful, and never a time when it would be 100% apostate. Also, your earlier response just said "church" - it did not distinguish between visible and invisible churches, one of which is apostate and one of which is not. We could only comment on what you wrote, not what we imagined you must have been thinking.

Phil, you say,

"Neither the wheat, nor tares of the kingdom exist. The Kingdom was rejected by Israel, and remains in abeyance until His return to judge Israel and the nations."

That is not correct. All who died already without Christ are tares. They cannot change to wheat. They are dead, and so they cannot repent. They decay. The wheat are all believers in Christ today and all those who died in Christ. Every believer is indwelt by the Spirit of Christ and He will sustain us til the end,
"..So that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.." ( 1Cor. 1:7-9).

If Adam and Eve used herbs for flavor and medicine, what did they eat for nourishment?
Noah ate anything he could catch.
Moses ate certain things.
We today can eat anything, with thanksgiving.
Things that are different aren't the same.
The "born again" believer part
was mentioned by Jesus to Nicodemus, ruler of Jews, still under OT Law.

I don't think you will find that mentioned by our Apostle
Paul under grace. I think you will find he calls us a "new creation" not a "recreation"

Cluny, I will try again to explain it to you. You say,

"Actually, MarkV, both wheat and tares are very visible. And in Christ's parable of the wheat and tares, He did NOT say, "The field is the visible church." He said, "The field is the world." Your exegesis is wrong. Try again"

Your answer is very wrong. You can visibly see both of them but you cannot possibly know who is born of the Spirit and who is not. You can never tell the difference. You can judge others all you want by their fruits, but you can never be positive. Wheat and tares grow together and God harvest them, by picking the tares and separating them from the wheat no matter where they gather.

A change would have been if God disallowed man to eat plants. God did not change his command of a vegetarian diet, many many people today still eat a vegitarian diet.

God ADDED to, not changed the diet

A change would have been OK No longer eat vegies, eat only meat
---francis on 12/26/12

God, the same yesterday and forever.
But His doctrine changes.

And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed, to you it shall be for meat. (Gen. 1:29)

Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you, even as the green herb have I given you all things. (Gen. 9:3)

Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat.... (Levi. 11:2)

These verses teach different doctrine. Gen.1:29 follow a vegan diet. Gen. 9:3 allows man to eat anything Levi. 11:2 teaches only certain animals may be eaten. What instruction should we observe? All None? Just one ?
---michael_e on 12/25/12

phil, you say the parable of wheat and tares is for the past and future...not for today. anytime in the future will be today if we live long enough. God is the same yesterday, today and forever. we will always have tares but someday they will be destroyed. tares take up space and produce nothing. they shouldn't belong in the field with the wheat but we know so called christians infiltrate the body of Christ temporarily until the judgement day. the real sons of God will be revealed at judgement.
---shira4368 on 12/25/12

Neither the wheat, nor tares of the kingdom exist. The Kingdom was rejected by Israel, and remains in abeyance until His return to judge Israel and the nations.

The parable belongs past and future, not now.

Failing to divide the word correctly yields falsehoods.

I challenge anyone to provide evidence they have been resurrected and live in a transformed body, as His presently is. None have ascended, and none have been resurrected but the Christ alone.

The heavenly kingdom among the celestials, where we will one day dwell with Him, is not visible.

The body of Christ is a new creation, and remains invisible til revealed.

The body of Christ, as the Christ Himself, cannot be seen.

Strongeaxe, my answer that Jesus was not wrong, is found in the fact that His Spiritual Church is not the visible Church that carries the name of Jesus. The visible Church we are told in Scripture is mixed with tares and wheat. God will do the harvesting by separating the wheat from the tares. That's why the visible church is in apostasy, too many tares.
The spiritual Church of Jesus Christ is not in apostasy. It's made up of all genuine believes born of the Spirit baptized into one spiritual body in Christ. Only God knows who they are, because our rebirth is spiritual. That's why Jesus permits both, tares and wheat to be together, and no one knows the genuine believer but God who does the harvesting.
The reason for my answer to Cluny.
---Mark_V. on 12/25/12

\\HIs Church is spiritual.\\

But not merely spiritual, just as WE are not merely spiritual, and neither is Jesus merely spiritual since the Incarnation.

When you remove all the physical aspects of the Gospel away from it, you wind up with NOTHING.

If the Church is merely spiritual, then why do you use the Bible, which has a very important PHYSICAL component--which if you removed would leave you with NO Bible?

Quit trying to be more spiritual than God. He invented physical things, remember?

IF what Jesus said is true ), then His original historical continuing Church is still out there somewhere.

strongax, I know what you are saying but I have been in some "on fire" churches and icabod isn't written on them but I have also been to others that are full of dead mens bones. hell will not prevail against the church because the saved are the church and we will be seperated from hell at the judgement seat. therefore, hell can't prevail against the church. ---shira4368 on 12/24/12

shira4368 and Mark_V.:

Perhaps you are unfamiliar with the logical argument known as reductio ad absurdum.

Someone says A. You say if A is true, B must be true, knowing everyone will see how absurd B is, proving A is also ridiculous.

In this case, Mark_V. said "The church of Christ has reached the apostasy level already".

Cluny declared this absurd by saying that, IF THAT WERE TRUE, THEN Jesus must have been lying when he said "the gates of hell would not prevail against His Church.".

Of course, none of us would claim Jesus was lying - therefore, the Church CANNOT have reached that level of apostasy (since it could not have been overcome).

Cluny, I said what I did because you use "glory to Jesus Christ" And that has been your stamp for a long time now. And you want to keep that clean if you are going to use it. J. Marc also didn't agree with me either but that is only one issue. There is much to talk about in Scripture that is for the glory of Jesus Christ.
Concerning the wheat and the tares, Jesus parable was a great parable concerning the visible church. In the end He will do the harvesting, separating the tares from the wheat.
His spiritual Church is pure and it is growing everyday. Every day God the Spirit spiritually baptizes many into one Body in Christ.
---Mark_V. on 12/23/12

Cluny, a wonderful and happy Christmas holidays to you. Jesus did not lie, He spoke of wheat and tares growing togther, HIs Church is spiritual. All members are born of the Spirit. They congregate in building, caves, parks or homes together with tares. They are permitted by Jesus who is God. We know God permits them to grow together because,
"And the enemy has done this. The servant said to him, do you want us then to go and gather them up? But he said, No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them." ( Matt. 13:28,29)Since no one knows who is the wheat, born of the Spirit, getting rid of one member a person might be getting rid of a believer.
God will do the harvesting in the end.

I know the American South is often called the Bible Belt, but just what does this mean? It's quite telling that those parts of the country that yell loudest about being Christian (and more so than everyone else) also has the highest ratio of divorce in the country, despite Jesus specifically teaching against it. J. Marc, I agree with your answer on 12/17/12. The church of Christ has reached the apostasy level already. It all began when the Universal church got together, and Jesus was replaced as the Head of the Church. From the first denomination, many others sprung up. First, for a good reason, to get away from the false teachings the RCC was doing within thier denomination. Members of the Church wanted to reform the Church, but never got a chance to do so. After that the RCC spit from the Eastern Orthodox. And later more denominations were formed by those who didn't want to be under the RCC rule, and the false teachings. Now the RCC teachings have touched all denominations, the main one salvation by works, man's ability to save himself by doing works.

//Where Are The Christians?//

In the Body of Christ, "following Paul as he followed Christ"

cluny, I have not judged anyone. I just was saying we have to know a christian by their works. we are also told to try the spirits. what part of that do you not understand? you are the one who is judgeing. you judge many on cn.

\\Cluny on - 12/17 /12 - It's the TARES that Get Rapture ????????????????? \\

Yep.

The tares get pulled out FIRST.

THEN the wheat. It doesn't say, that the wheat gets gathered 7 days--or 1007 days--before the harvest, which is the end of the world.

In the same chapter, there is the parable of the dragnet which pulled up all kinds of fish, good and bad. In this parable it's the BAD fish that go sailing through the air.

Glory to Jesus Christ!

\\my opinion does not count!\\

That's right. That's all you give: your opinions.

Everything you say on these blogs, in the words of St. Paul in Phil 3:8, is BUT DUNG.

Glory to Jesus Christ!

A friend of mine says that American christian's religion is 100 miles wide and 1" deep. In other words, many christians in America are christians only in name. Christianity does not pierce their soul and permeate every aspect of their life.

James1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Cluny on - 12/17 /12 - It's the TARES that Get Rapture ?????????????????

Matthew 13:30 Let Them both grow together until the Harvest : and at the time of the harvest , I will say to the reapers ,GATHER TOGETHER THE TARES , AND BIND THEM IN BUNDLES TO BURN THEM .But gather the wheat to my barn.

\\cluny,"That means that YOUR fellowship/church/congregation is apostate, JMarc"

i do not have one!\\

In other words, you do NOT live by the Word of God which commands us NOT to stop the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some.

Obviously, St. Paul was talking about YOU, J_Marc, so you stand condemned by the Word of God.

And as the REAL Christ said, "Out of your own mouth you will be condemned."

Glory to Jesus Christ!

Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil,

Revelation 13:2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority

Daniel 7:23 The fourth beast shall ...think to change times and laws:

seems to me that Apostacy is the devil working through the fourth beast ( ROME)to change the times and laws of God

That is why we have christians/ the saints: that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus Revelation 14:12

And protestants, those unhappy with somefo romes doctrines

I have been reading the questions and comments of you people and are amazed how many people attack those who use scriptures without using any scriptural evidence. How is it people can be so mean and ugly and call themselves Christian? It is not Christlike at all, and it only confirms why people don't want to go to church or even do business with people who call themselves Christian. You are giving Christianity a black eye and a bad name to the world.

---shira4368 on 12/17/12\\

Of course, God appointed you to determine who is and who is NOT a real Christian, didn't He, shira?

And if we doubt it, all we have to do is ask you, and you will tell us. Right?

Glory to Jesus Christ!

\\many say they are christian but we know many are not. the wheat fields are full of tares. \\

And remember that in Our Lord's parable, the wheat is not gathered first. It's the TARES that get raptured.

**Churches, fellowships, & congregations have reached the apostacy!**

That means that YOUR fellowship/church/congregation is apostate, JMarc.

**The falling away that was prophesied is occurring, the lawless one,the man of sin has been revealed!**

And just who is this man of sin, JMarc?

Glory to Jesus Christ!

Churches, fellowships, & congregations have reached the apostacy!

The falling away that was prophesied is occurring, the lawless one,the man of sin has been revealed!

2nd Thessalonians 2:3-4 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition,Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped, so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

Many have "asked Jesus into their hearts" and keep the sin in their business must have another(anti)christ living there that calls himself God!

Finding a true christian is as rare as finding a 7-pound gold nugget in your neighborhood - even within your worldly denomiantional churches. Love, genuine love, has practically evaporated from the face of the Earth during these end days. Today's denominational churches have lead people away from what is true christianity. A very large percentage of christians have literally become lukewarm caused by what is being taught in denominational churches and what is happening in the world and even their own community. They learn about God not as a person, but as an object of worship. They have the knowledge of God, but deny his power to work through people. For this reason we do not see the miracles that should be performed by true people of God.
---Steveng on 12/16/12

i live in the bible belt. there are certainly many who call themselves christian here, but finding one is a little different.
