The fifth seal mentioned in Revelation reveals that Christians shall be delivered up to be afflicted and shall be killed. Several verses say that God promises to protect His people during this time. Why didn't these Christians receive God's protection?

606 Babylon + 515.25 Kings of Judea + 400 in Egypt + 147 Jacob + 120 Isaac + 100 Abraham = 1888.25 BC

+ 70 Terah in UR of The Chaldeans.

1953.25?BC

(1888.25 + 2014)/ 777 Number of the Lamb and the age that Lamech lived until before the flood = 5.0222007722007722007722007722008

5th Seal, 5 have fallen, One Is, One is yet to come.

.0222... {1/50 and 1/500 and x 1/5000 } x 777 = 17.25 years which is written in Genesis regarding Israel/Jacob.

Although Rev. 6:9 does speak of pass, current, and future martyrs of the "way" it has nothing to do with the time of the spurious messiah. He does not appear until the sixth seal is opened.
"Why didn't these Christians receive God's protection?"
Their time in this world was done. Father simply choose to deliver them from the trials of this life rather than protecting them through those trials.
"They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented, (Of whom the world was not worthy:)" Heb 11:37,38
---joseph on 5/5/14

Please read Rev 6:9-10. These Christians had died before the seal was loosed. These are God's people down through time that have been martyred, such as Able, and Stephen, most of the Apostles, and a huge multitude of the saints of God who've been killed for his name sake.

At least that's the way I see it.
---trey on 4/16/14

The Prophecy is concerning all nations, languages, and peoples.

The Apostles went into The Arena.

2222~ BC Terah in Ur of The Chaldeans + 2014 = 4236

+ 777 = 5013~ years.

8 years makes 21 plus One?

~4236 years + 666 = 4902

+ 100 Jubilees inferred.

5002~

+ 8 = 5010~ years.

7 Seals plus 7 Trumpets plus 7 Bowls = 21.

There are many misconceptions that occur in bible studies due to a failure to rightly divide the word of truth. When we rightly divide the word of truth we give to Israel what belongs to Israel and we give to the body of Christ what belongs to the body of Christ.
---michael_e on 2/4/13

This was pretty well put. There are two parties of Israel I would add. The Northern House of ten and the southern of two, Judah and part of Benjamin.
This confusion on this division causes most of the scriptural ignorance, promoted doctrinally today. Heb 8:8 shows the division but almost no modern preacher will preach it. None but, a couple here will discuss GOD's Israel here out of fear of exclusion. Matt 10:6, and 15:24.

According to the commentary Revelation by John F. Walvoord, only the 144,000 from the 12 tribes of Israel, that have had the seal of God on their foreheads will be the only ones that are protected. It is his belief that many will turn to Christ during this tribulation period but be martyred. Rev. 7:9-10

Even in this age we can see thousands of believers have been put to death and there has been no guarantee that we will always be protected by God. The twentieth century alone has seen more martyrs than all the other centuries combined.

Sorry Gordon, but believers will not be put to death because they refused to worship God on Sundays but because of their testimony for Christ.

Steveng, there was a reason why you asked this questions you first say,
"The fifth seal mentioned in Revelation reveals that Christians shall be delivered up to be afflicted and shall be killed." Then you turn around and say that the word of God says,
" Several verses say that God promises to protect His people during this time." First you say God said they were going to be afflicted, and turn around and say, God promised to protect then" So why would you want to contradict one passage with another? And what passages state that God will protect them at that time of the fifth seal?
Your up to something, what is it?
---Mark_V. on 3/8/13

They had been protected by God up until that time.. the first through fourth seals events.

Not until the fifth seal events did they give themselves up to martyrdom.

The similar happened regarding the two witnesses. They could not be killed, then they allowed themselves to be killed.

\\The Lord Christ Jesus did not defeat Satan on the cross. It is a promise that he will rule earth binding Satan at his return!!!\\

Wrong again, as in EVERYTHING you say, FoC.

You two sentences here are so full of so many errors that more than 125 words would be needed to correct them. I'm not even going to try.

Suffice it to say, you should learn sound doctrine before you try to teach others, FoC.

Glory to Jesus Christ!
---Cluny on 3/5/13

amen bro. markv. you are absolutely correct. satan tried from the beginning to destroy the bloodline of Christ. when Christ arose, satan knew he had been had. praise God for that.
---shira4368 on 3/4/13

Follower, the death of Christ on the Cross looked like Satan's greatest victory, but it actually was Satan's destruction (Col. 2:15:) tells us,
"Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, trumphing over them in it." also in Heb. 2:14,15: Rev. 20:10). Jesus did defeat satan at the Cross with His death and resurrection.
Satan had the world blind and without conviction of sin rejecting Christ, but as soon as Christ died the Spirit comes to convict the world of sin and of righteousness. Jesus said, "because I go to My Father and you see Me no more, of judgment because the ruler of this world is judged" (John 16:10,11).
---Mark_V. on 2/11/13

Follower, you now say because of your spiritual understanding you say you have,

"If Satan was defeated and victory was instant at the death of the Lord there would be no death of man today,"

Why would there be no death of man? What does satan have to do with death of man? People sin because they want to sin. They will continue to sin until the day the Lord does away with sin.
---Mark_V. on 2/9/13

Hi follower of Christ, how would you explain Colossians 2:15, after talking about how He nailed our sins to the cross, the writer goes to say "In this way,God took away Satan's power to accuse you of sin, and God openly displayed to the whole world Christ's triumph at the cross where your sins were all taken away."? (TLB), just my two cents worth, thanks and God bless :)
---Mary on 2/8/13

follower, have you ever heard the song.."victory was won at calvary"? Jesus Christ bore all our sin on the cross and satan thought he had won with the death of Jesus. I bet satan was surprised when Jesus tomb was found empty. Christ won and satan lost. his fate is sealed.
---shira4368 on 2/8/13

It seems like you don't know that Jesus defeated satan at the cross.

The Lord Christ Jesus did not defeat Satan on the cross. It is a promise that he will rule earth binding Satan at his return!!!

Hebrews 2:14 explains purpose of Lord becoming passover Lamb and how he will fulfill the promise 1 Corin 15, specifically 1 Corin 15:26 when the Lord returns to destroy the last enemy which is death. If Satan was defeated and victory was instant at the death of the Lord there would be no death of man today, yet those without spiritual understanding reject holy scripture Hebrews 9:14 that states all will die.

The Lord will return to earth again he is not here yet John 14:3,28 1 Corinthians 15:23 Rev 2:16

Follower, you have to tell the truth in order for others to belief. Here you say,

" It happens at the last trump when the Lord defeats Satan and descends from heaven."

It seems like you don't know that Jesus defeated satan at the cross.
"Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil" (Heb. 2:14).
Christ, who is eternal, partook of flesh and blood, just like us, died on the cross in the flesh and destroyed satan and his power of death by rising to life. But you do not belief, because you do not even believe He is eternal.
---Mark_V. on 2/6/13

There are many misconceptions that occur in bible studies due to a failure to rightly divide the word of truth. When we rightly divide the word of truth we give to Israel what belongs to Israel and we give to the body of Christ what belongs to the body of Christ.

In most denominations Matt 24:37 & ff. is taught as being the same as 1Thess 4:13 & ff. when they are not. A little study shows they are plainly not the same

\\I am one of those believers who will not be in the tribulation.\\

If you think that, then you will be among the first to fall down and worship Antichrist when he appears.

Repent! There is no such thing as a pre-trib rapture.

Glory to Jesus Christ!
---Cluny on 2/1/13

I am one of those believers who will not be in the tribulation. Christians will be caught up in the air to forever be with the Lord..

When the Lord returns to earth to establish Gods Kingdom and rule from Jerusalem as King of Kings and Lord of Lords ***HE*** will return with a great shout from heaven, it is a glorious return seen by all 4 corners of the earth. It happens at the last trump when the Lord defeats Satan and descends from heaven.

Too bad you idolize and prefer following the lying ministers of Satan instead of Gods Holy Word because the tribulation is over when the Lord returns as Holy Scripture confirms.

Phil, where do you find such false beliefs? You come out with some very distorted views not found in Scripture. you say,

"The ecclesia of that time will be the Jewish remnant that will be forming after we are removed to the clouds before His return to earth [1Th 4:17]." nowhere in that passage does it speak about the Jewish remnant. Not one word. Second, you say,

"Some will be persecuted and killed for their faith, especially by their brethren, who will be lured into the synagogue of Satan, [See Mt 24:9] another counterfeit."

Nowhere in that passage does it state brethren will kill other brethren. Shear nonesense. What are you reading? Not the Bible Phil. Stay with the word of God.
---Mark_V. on 1/27/13

I am one of those believers who will not be in the tribulation. Christians will be caught up in the air to forever be with the Lord. the unsaved will remain but they will have a chance to be saved during the tribulation. follower you better get saved before Christ comes back to claim His bride.
---shira4368 on 1/26/13

Not all Christians will be taken to a place of safety during the 3 1/2 year times of sorrow (aka tribulation). As Matthew 3:12, 13:4 describes the chaff and the seed of truth. Some do not grow in knowledge and seek to overcome and obey the Lord Jesus 1 Peter 4:17, and will loose protection during the tribulation. And vast majority are those without any spiritual understanding deceived by doctrines of demons believing lie they will be taken to heaven to escape the tribulation (contrary to holy scripture) and deceived into believing they escape the times of sorrow because by saying the name of Jesus they are saved from wrath.

Seal 5 brings the promise of Martyrdom for true Christians.

(Revelation 6:9-11) "I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained..." (Matthew 24:9) "Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you..." (Revelation 20:4) "And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand..."

If you are still living under the delusion that you will be raptured out before anything bad happens... perhaps you should re-think your position.

Revelation 6:9. During this time? These were martyrs that had already gone to heaven. Slain as burnt offerings for the word of God and their testimony. Sitting at the foot of Christ. People don't want us here. So God places us in heaven, where He takes magnificently care of us...A noble cause, the best that any man can lay down his life for.

\\The body of Christ is no where mentioned in the Unveiling.
---Phil on 1/11/1\\

Yes, it is.

Part is in heaven, and part is on earth.

There is no such thing as a pre-trib rapture.

Christ is baptized! In the Jordan!
---Cluny on 1/11/13

The body of Christ is not in view in this passage. The Unveiling of Jesus Christ, or Revelations, is about the Jewish ecclesia during the Lord's day.

The ecclesia of that time will be the Jewish remnant that will be forming after we are removed to the clouds before His return to earth [1Th 4:17].

Some will be persecuted and killed for their faith, especially by their brethren, who will be lured into the synagogue of Satan, [See Mt 24:9] another counterfeit.

The body of Christ is no where mentioned in the Unveiling.
---Phil on 1/11/13

Cluny, I agree with your answer. God never promise the believers He would protect them from dying. First, all humans die, including believers. The purpose for which they die, is really the difference here. Believers who are martyrs have died for the cause of God all through history and will continue in many cases till He returns in the Day of the Lord.

//Several verses say that God promises to protect His people during this time//

NOWHERE does the Bible teach any such thing. That's because there's no such thing as a pre-trib rapture.

There was no Rapture for Jesus. He Himself said that the disciple is NOT greater than His master.

There was no Rapture for the martyrs who were killed in the Colosseum of Rome, either. Instead, their martyrdom became their chariot to heaven.

Jesus DID say "In the world, you have TRIBULATION. But be of good cheer. I HAVE overcome the world."

Christ is baptized! In the Jordan.
---Cluny on 1/7/13

The big picture is we are being changed to be more like Jesus, in God's own love "in our hearts" (Romans 5:5), and this love has our Father's own personal guiding to all the good He has for us in our relating with people, loving all people as ourselves.

So, while Satanic people are doing their killing and troubling of Christians and their own selves, we are busy with sharing with our Father in His love.

Now, what you are talking about is what evil people can do to our bodies. But God is protecting our souls > "And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good?" (1 Peter 3:13) It is not a sin to die!
