well, if you are so knowledgeable about Baptist, you tell me how we don't measure up. I just gave you scripture that discounts your commandment thing. of course we try to keep them but it don't always happen. unlike you, I am in this old sin body but someday I will have a new body.

Francis. You follow the ministry of death/condemnation, written in stones, which was "DONE AWAY" (2Cor 3:7).

Many here that you debate with however, follow the much more glorious ministry of the Spirit/righteousness (2Cor 3:8). We're saved by grace.

Francis, you deny God's grace with your desire to be under the law. You remain the old man under bondage.

Choose life. Repent and BELIEVE in Jesus. Then you'll become a new creation.

Jerry, you understand Christ saying, keep!
Clearly he said, love!
My commandments are not threatening!

No one is exempt from obedience.
But you are in disobedience, if you put the law before me!

The commandments:
Above all love God. (Even before the law!)
Love you your neighbor as yourself. (This is like on to the first!)
Simply saying, love each other, as I have loved you. (I die for you!)

Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
You cannot fulfill the commandments without loving me!

The commandments cannot fulfill themselves.
Only your love for me can, try putting your love before me!
And I will put mine before you.
Peace

francis, I have been saved for 60 years. I am grounded in my faith and I wouldn't trade my church for a thousand of yours. I know I am a new creature because God saved me. I know Jesus is the door I went in to be saved. If you have not been taught in your church, that you are a new creation, old things are past away, and that you have the promise of God that you are a partaker of His divine nature, and that christ dwells in your heart by faith, and that the spirit of God is in you, all these, that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in you. that God will awake your MORTAL BODY to his righteousness and that God is able to keep you from ALL SIN, having spoiled all demonic spirits on the cross, if you are not taught these, as i posted in my last post, please do yourself a favour and reconsider your denomination and choose to trust god to keep you from falling

Mr. Seg: It is hard to take seriously anyone whose first name is The. It would appear that you and The Haz have no clue as to the proper place of obedience in the Christian life. The Apostle John wrote:

1Jn 2:1,3,4 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Yet you claim to be exempt from obedience to God by twisting the writings of Paul while ignoring the admonition of the remainder of the Scriptures to the contrary.

As ONLY PAST sin was remitted at the cross (Rom 3:25), then that would mean Francis would have to have PERFECTLY kept the law ever since receiving Christ.

BUT Francis has FAILED to do so. Just even ONE offense makes FRANCIS guilty of ALL the law.

Francis is NOT one of the saints as he denies the gospel of grace by mixing works of the law with it. You CAN'T mix grace and works, Rom 11:6.

Amen Haz27!
It is just and good that some are here to truthfully, as I see it, to carry out the commands of the lord.
In a true and honest heart and not by trying to hide from the, I am the way, the truth and the life!

I know he may truthfully believe what he is saying.
But, you can't twist the truth to make it fit.
Truthfully believing, a man of God must not hide anything!
This should be clear to everyone! Right from Gen_3:10!

Nor can a man of God, hide the truth from his own brothers. That's deceit!
A true man of God must submit himself to the righteousness that is, of God!
And only comes from of God. Joh_5:44!

The people here who have difficulty admitting what is n the ENTIRE BIBLE, that we must keep all ten commandments are afraid to admit it for ONE SINGLE REASON

1: Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
2: Thou shalt not make any graven image,to bow downto them,
3: Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain,
4: Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

TheSeg. As we all know, the likes of Francis/Jerry/Samuelbb7, etc do NOT keep the commandments. francis has even admitted, on the rare occasion, how SDA's fail to perfectly keep the commandments.

Note also, even with the SDA's on CN, that it's a common tactic of SDA's to avoid discussion about their failure to keep the commandments.

They persist in preaching on keeping the law, and yet fail to obey it themselves.

Worse still, they also disobey God's will (John 6:40) that we believe in Jesus.
It's EITHER Grace OR works of the law. You CAN'T mix these 2 (Rom 11:6) like the SDA's do.

Pharisees---The broad way, [works]. The narrow way, [Grace]. Christians were first called those of the "way". Christ Himself is both the gate and the way. God enables men to find that gate....Only a few have received the grace of God which guarantees them heaven. We are reminded of Jesus' statement, Many are called, but few are chosen. And to this day Jesus is still reminding me that He has only a few chosen people sprinkled all over this world.

The law is in fact something we do, when we do the law, we show love for God and our neighbor
francis

This is why you don't understand, you have it backwards!
The first commandment, above all love God!
Second commandment, love your neighbor!
This is the fulfillment of the law and the prophets.
Why can't you see that, why is your heart so hardened!

For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:

The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight!

Francis said: "It is either we are obeying / doing / keeping the law:....
Or we are living in lawlessness"

Francis. You disobey God and are lawless, as James 2:10 and Gal 2:18 describes you.

Even worse, you also disobey God's will that we should believe in Jesus, John 6:40.

You profess to know God but in works you deny Him, Tit 1:16.

God has cleansed us of sin. But instead you call unclean what God has cleansed through the blood of Christ (Rom 3:25 only PAST sin remitted, and now as Christians we've "CEASED from sin" 1Pet 4:1).
You said "No, No, No" to the gospel of grace.

Repent and BELIEVE in Jesus.

Sort of a silly statement seeing that most NT writer speaks of keeping the law / commandments of God

1 Cor 7:19 the keeping of the commandments of God.

2 Peter 2:21.. to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.

1 John 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

Rev 14:12 here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

Would you say that these apostles are keep putting the law before you?

The Narrow Gate, again, is YAHUSHUA (JESUS CHRIST), for, in JOHN 14:6, He testifies that He alone is the Way, the Truth and the Life, the only Way to God the Father. Receiving YAHUSHUA includes walking the Narrow Path of Love, Truth, Obedience, Holiness and daily death to self. This Narrow Gate leads to Life Eternal in Heaven. The Wide Gate, and the Broad Road, are what most people choose. It's the "easier way" of: living for self, in whatever sinful, pleasurable way one feels like trodding. This Wide Path leads to the ultimate place of Destruction called the "Lake of Fire".

Another example of how straight is the gate and narrow is the way to life in the Lord is understanding Luke 14 as the Lord describes the cost of following him and walking in the 10 laws 1 Peter 2:21 Ephesians 2:10

James 1:14-15 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. (This is the wide gate)
---Follower_of_Christ on 2/2/13

The narrow gate is the gate through which all who truly believe the gospel pass to eternal life. The gospel is that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, gave His life on the cross to pay for our sins, and He rose from the dead on the third day (1 Cor 15:1-4). If we truly believe that, God will count our sin debt paid.

The wide gate is to destruction through which all unbelievers will pass. Those who deny God exists, the agnostics, and those religions that worship other gods. It also includes those who call themselves Christians but believe they will be saved by good works rather than God's grace through faith in Paul's gospel. Unfortunately, this is where most who say they are Christians are today. They are headed for the wide gate.

Follower_of_Christ, this is where you and Francis part ways with most.
You guys keep saying (mind you) to yourselves!
People are saying they have the right to break the law!
And you've convinced yourselves this is the truth.
Yet, you know it a lie!

Christ said in Joh_15:24:
If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: Let's stop here!

What works is he's talk about?
Walking on water, raising the dead or anyone of the hundreds of other things he did or was it keeping the law?

Answer this for yourself, how did Jesus keep the law?
There's a simple enough answer, if you want the truth.
And may God bless your way.

The law keepers (righteous, the obedient) will enter through the narrow gate understand only the righteous (law keepers) will be entering through the narrow gate is clearly outlined in 1 Peter 4:17-18, also the narrow gate is more difficult, and it is a difficult race the followers of the Lord are encouraged to finish and overcome.

The wrath of GOD will be on the disobedient 1 Col 3:6 and it becomes easier to understand it is the disobedient who enter through the wide gate, the gate of destruction.

You cannot claim righteousness (law keeping) while breaking Gods laws yet many do because they claim they have a right to break Gods 10 laws through the Lord Jude 1:4.

FOC, if you could just tell me exactly were Jude said "license to sin"

These are your words, right.

And seeing they were inspired by GOD, just the way they were!
Why would you change them or don't you feel you have?
That is, what you said was inspired by GOD, right!

Jude 1.4 read like this:
For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Says their "unawares, ordained to this condemnation."
Denying Lord God and Lord Jesus Christ!

Now mind you, I'm not saying anything you don't know!

The reason the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are telling you to keep the commandment.
Is not so you can tell me to keep them, it's to tell yourself to keep them.

The reason you tell everybody else to keep them, is because you don't keep them.

They have not established the law in his heart.
I don't say this to insult him, I say this to prove him!

Because, if the law was established in his heart.
He would have to admit the truth of the law.
Something he cant do, yet!

People like this, have not and will not!
Until they have proof of the Spirit.
Not faith!
Peace

francis, you now say I have a learning disability when you say,

"---Mark_V. on 1/31/13
I know that you have comprehension issues.
What i am asking you is very very simple: How much obedience does God require?"

God can never require anything less that Himself, perfection, for He is perfect. What He requires and what we provide are very different. No one does perfect obedience, not even you. And God already knows we cannot, the reason Christ came to atone for our sins. But you keep throwing the law at everyone, when you yourself cannot do perfect obedience. That's why the Law cannot save anyone. No one can keep it all, not even you. What you are missing is spiritual discernment, that comes from the Holy Spirit.
---Mark_V. on 2/2/13

While God's people live here on earth, before they die and and their spirit and souls immeadiately go to heaven they have a choice to either follow after righteousness or follow after sin.
Following after righteousness leads to life, and peace and joy, and blessings etc.
Following after sin leads to misery and destruction. We truly reap what we sow.

Gal6:7 Be not deceived, God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

FOC, please be specific!
Who here has said or even hinted we have a license to sin?

Personally I do feel some are deceiving themselves!
Christ said:
If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin:
But now they have no cloke for their sin.

It seems you have a cloke for sin, keeping the law.
But not for covering your brothers.
But even Christ said you dont, Joh_7:19!

Even an apostle said:
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight:
for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Therefore we conclude(even more than one apostle) that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Be specific who?

Many have turned the grace of God into law breaking Jude 1:4

If deceived by law breaking (license to sin) impossible to understand spiritual teaching of these gates.

Wide gate is broad, easy. Those who are deceived into disobedience (license to sin) enter through easy gate. Wide/BROAD GATE is road leading to destruction.

Narrow gate is difficult, only those who do the will of the Father will enter through the narrow gate Matthew 7:21, what is Gods will? obeying His 10 laws Micah 4:2 Acts 5:32 Romans 2:8 Heb 10:16

Romans 6:16
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey, whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Leon, I know it not this blog, but!
A fig tree, just because they cover themselves with fig leafs.

Here what I see, Gen 1:12, why?
Because in it God said:
And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the
(tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself,) after his kind:
and (God saw that it was good.)

Fig trees have fruit whose seed is in itself!
Now would God call something which has evil in it, good!

Besides in Gen_1:29 And God said, Behold, I have given you-
every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed,
to you it shall be for meat.

My point is the fruit could not have seeds!
Peace

Have you gone before God?
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, (but after this the judgment:)

If we say I have no sin then we're saying I'm not guilty before God!
Isn't this truth?

Everyone goes before God guilty, unless Christ says otherwise!
1Jn_2:2,Rom_3:23! What's not clear?

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
Rom_3:25, says for the remission of sins that are past!
Did you die that all your sins are past.
If not then you make the law void!
Like those who say I keep it or I don't sin.

All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers:
But the sheep did not hear them.

Where does it say "Enter through the narrow gate?"
Didn't he say "strait gate" and "narrow is the way?"

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

But, right before that, he said!
Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you!
Do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets!

Luk_17:10, you're saying, not guilty before God!
Rom_3:7-19 and all the world may become guilty before God.
You're guilty because, I love you!

We are saved by Grace alone but when we love God and others then we obey.
---Samuelbb7 on 1/31/13

And what do we obey?
The gospel.
"we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. And THIS IS HIS COMMANDMENT: that we should BELIEVE on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and LOVE one another" 1John 3:22,23,

Christians obey the will of God. That is, BELIEVE in Jesus, John 6:40. And our works that shows our faith is BELIEVE in Jesus, John 6:29.

BUT, those under the law (such as SDA's) are in disobedience (unbelief). They say "No, No, No" to salvation for anyone who disobey the 10 commandments.

The law has never saved anyone

But your statement: "there is really no reason to obey the law since we are under grace." Is incompartable with the bible:
Paraphrasing 1 Corinthians 7:17-22
Being single or married is not an issue, being a slave or a free man is not an issue, being circumcized or uncircumcized is not an issue, what is important verse 19 is keeping the commandments of God.

see how your statement is 100% opposed to the bible

We are saved by Grace alone but when we love God and others then we obey.

1Jo 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
1Jo 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
1Jo 2:5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
1Jo 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

To offend in ONE point makes you guilty of ALL the law, James 2:10.

Francis. You FAIL obedience in BOTH these ways to righteousness.

francis, how much obedience do you do? 100%? because if you say you do 100%, then the truth is not in you either. ( 1 John 1:8), no matter how many passages you put down. You are both hypocrites concerning the very law you yourselves cannot keep, yet require others to keep them.

Follower, the first question I have for you isl
"do you do perfect obedience?" Are you perfect in obeying God? Are you telling us you never disobey? Not one time? If your answer is yes, then I know you do not have the Truth. (1 John 1:8). Then you put down all those passages and not a one says you have to keep the Ten Commandments. There is over 630 laws, and no one has kept the whole law but Jesus Christ. 1 Samuel speaks of commandments, 2. speaks of covenant, 3. speaks of the new Kingdom, 4, speaks about obeying God not man, 5. speaks again of obedience, 6. speaks about obeying the gospel. None say Ten Commandments. So are you sinless now and going to heaven?

Follower of Christ: Why use this blog name if you disobey the gospel and reject Christ?

You quote scriptures about obedience but then falsely twist in your own doctrine of works of the law as the obedience it speaks of.

As Tit 1:16 says, "they profess that they know God, but in works they deny Him."

By the doctrine you preach here, perhaps a blog name of "Follower of the Law" might be a more appropriate title to match your doctrine.

There is only one gate and it is Jesus Christ. Believing and receiving Him is doing the will of the Father. Faith is what pleases Him most - faith in His son to save us from ourselves. Jesus is the truth, the way, the light. When we fully receive Him and His word, we are transformed. His laws become written on our hearts. We have the first installment of His promise: the Holy Spirit who guides us in all of our ways. It is not works that saves us, which Jesus tells us in Matt 7:22, which is the very nest thing He says after His comment about the narrow gate. HE IS THE GATE! HE IS THE ONLY THING THAT CAN MAKE US RIGHTEOUS. Let's all bless His Holy Name! Rhonda Landry, Glory Gate Publishing and Ministries

The one is the path to heaven. The other is the path to hell.
---bike on 1/29/13

Answer is in Matthew 7:21

Those who do the will of the Father in truth and spirit will enter through narrow gate.

The will of the Father is to obey. The Lord Jesus obeyed the Father perfectly. Followers of the Lord today obey through Gods Holy Spirit and the strength of the Lord working in our minds.

Without obedience to Gods 10 perfect laws you cannot enter through the narrow gate. Only the Saints obey.

1 Samuel 12:15
Exodus 19:5
Daniel 7:27
Acts 5:29,32
Hebrews 5:9
1 Peter 4:17

Those who enter the wide gate are the disobedient:

Romans 2:8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate & broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it." Matthew 7:13 What are the narrow and wide gates?

After study, I've found out that The Wide Gate us likened to being naive to believe anything.
And The Narrow Gate is likened to being wise and cautious to discern what is right according to God's word, and choose what is right.
---jan4378 on 1/28/13

I believe that the Narrow Gate is YAHUSHUA (JESUS CHRIST) Himself (JOHN 10:7-10), but, a Salvation-Relationship with Him involves walking in the Ways of Holiness, Truth and Love which is a less-traveled Road. Whereas, the Wide Road, the road most people take, is the "easier way" which satiates the sinful, flesh-nature. And, the Wide Road leads to the ultimate place of Destruction, which is the Lake of Fire, the "Second Death".
