\\In Orthodox theology, angels have "ethereal" or "unmaterial/immateriate" bodies. These last two words simply mean "not physical matter."---Cluny on 7/22/13

I never heard of those words.
I shall study them.\\

I admit they are unusual words and hard to work into an everyday conversation.

Glory to Jesus Christ!
---Cluny on 7/23/13

nikki, bible says we will have a new body. now we don't know what kind of body but we know we will have one. I don't go around with no clothes and I won't in heaven either. we will have a robe of white. my little brain can't comprehend some things about heaven but I know it will definitely glorious.

\\Nope, they don't have bodies to wear clothes. They are pure spirits.
---Nikki on 6/1/13\\

No, Nikki.

Only GOD is pure spirit.

In Orthodox theology, angels have "ethereal" or "unmaterial/immateriate" bodies. These last two words simply mean "not physical matter."

Remember that Jesus rose from the tomb naked. The shroud and other cloths were left there. He appeared to others, I should think, clothed in the glory of the Resurrection, which the others beheld according to their ability.

Glory to Jesus Christ!

What any other intelligent man would do when debating with a woman.

Say: You are right dear.
And move on.

As any woman, I am capable of talking and talking on any one topic for a long time.

As a man, you can not. Sorry

FACTS OF LIFE
---Nikki on 6/4/13

Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?
Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself:
handle me, and see, for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.

By the way:
Have ye here any meat?
And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.
And he took it, and did eat before them.

Awake to righteousness, and sin not, for some have not the knowledge of God:
I speak this to your shame.
But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?

O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken

If they have no bodies, where do they hang their wings?
---francis on 6/1/13

I knew you were going to ask me that.

I think they are normally Spirit, but God allows them to APPEAR in a form in order for us to see them and not be alarm.

Like an accident form.

We can't see white, unless it is on something. But, it isn't the true form of white. Colors, temperatures and the like don't have a form of it's own.

If you are confused, I understand. I am kinda confused and I wrote the post.

Cliff: In essence Job was saying he didn't bring anything with him into the world at birth & he realized he wouldn't be able to take anything out of the world when he died. I think you know that, but are just playing fhe devil's advocate. :)

Matthew 22:30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

Mark 12:25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels which are in heaven.

Do angels have clothes?

Isaiah 6:2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings, with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.

Hold the robe!!!
Just give me some wing to cover my face and my feet ( gee sounds like a flasher)

\\Don't you have to be wearing something to tuck it in?\\

Not necessarily. He could have grabbed his garment to tuck it in.

\\But, I know Jewish people are very modest. I wouldn't think he would be naked.\\

I've already mentioned the Jewish rite of Mikveh, ancestor of Christian baptism, which is still done in the nude today.

Cluny, what about the part of tucking in his garment?

Don't you have to be wearing something to tuck it in?

I not saying it is impossible for Peter to be naked, because fishing was a man's job.
But, I know Jewish people are very modest. I wouldn't think he would be naked.

Francis, I like my Bible better because they like undies as I do.
---Nikki on 5/29/13
Genesis 3:21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

Nothing about undies
---francis on 5/30/13

\\But, I don't see how Jesus dying on the cross naked means Peter jumped into the river naked?\\

I'm not saying it did.

However the Greek of John 21 says that Peter WAS naked in the boat, not merely "lightly clad". However, it was in the Sea of Galilee, not a river, he jumped into. And for this, he put on his clothes.

Interesting idea: putting on clothes to go swimming.

Christ is risen!
---Cluny on 5/30/13

Cluny, I know Jesus died naked on the cross. The Romans who loved male bodies (Greeks as well) knew Jewish people felt it was shameful to be naked.

I just looked up the verse in Greek.

Operative word: GYMNOS--naked.

Christ is risen!
---Cluny on 5/29/13

\\Francis, John 21:7 My Bible states...He tucked in his garments, for he was lightly clad, and jumped into the sea.\\

KJV renders it as "naked."

Remember that Christ hung upon the cross naked.

Following the precedent of the Jewish Mikveh, Christian baptism was originally done by immersion and naked.

The original Olympic games were played naked. Even the very word "gymnasium" (ending in -ion in Greek) means "place for getting naked."

Christ is risen!
---Cluny on 5/29/13

Francis, John 21:7 My Bible states...He tucked in his garments, for he was lightly clad, and jumped into the sea.

get a new bible, get one that says naked.

John 21:7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher's coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.
---francis on 5/29/13

Francis, John 21:7 My Bible states...He tucked in his garments, for he was lightly clad, and jumped into the sea.

I don't know what 'clad' means, I guess it means 'loose' or 'messes'. Either way tucking in garments means THE GARMENTS HAD TO BE ON TO TUCK IN.

Acts 12:8 Angel speaking to Peter: "Put on your belt and your sandals." He did so. Then he said to him, "Put on your cloak and follow me."

Strange the Angel felt he had to tell Peter what to do step by step?
Oh yes, verse 11 states Then Peter recovered his senses..
we know the angel didn't tell Peter to put on his tunic, and Peter doesn't believe in sleeping in the NUDE!

Job 1:21 Okay you got me on this one. So, I shall IGNORE IT.

Speaking of FIGS, whereas they may've been forbidden to eat in the Garden, in Heaven we'll be able to eat as many as we like without having to suffer the consequences, i.e., the opposite of constipation is?!

I did mention, what we eat in Heaven will likely be totally consumed (turned into pure energy) by our new bodies? So, we won't have to...wear undies of any sort!

I don't think God would want us to run around naked. If a bride is getting ready for the marriage supper of the Lamb, she will have on a spotless wedding attire.

"'Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.' And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints." (in Revelation 19:7-8)

So, my fine linen will not be how I have been criticizing others.

"Do not let your adorning be merely outward" (in 1 Peter 3:3)

"rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God." (1 Peter 3:4)

Christian,There are no silly questions, only silly answers. Your answers reveal the mythological beliefs of fundamentalists!
That somehow after death a person retains their attributes ,hair, eyes, fingers and feet etc even without a human body!
That heaven is a duplicate of earth with trees, vegitation, houses, animals and solid ground!
Myth or reality?
Often a person does not really know what they believe until they express themselves!

Does it matter?

In C. S. Lewis's book THE GREAT DIVORCE, he described some of the blessed as naked, and some as clothed, but in his words, "The naked ones did not seem less adorned, and the clothes did not hide the visible aura of holiness that shown from those clothed, for a robe or crown becomes as much of the wearer's features as a lip or an eye."

Keep in mind that this book is no more than pious fiction, and is not supposed to be a compendium of answers about the World to Come.

Christ is risen!
