aka, **Paul was talking to out of control pervs**???
How many out of control perverts do you have in your congregation????
No! This was general admonition!
Not all have the "gift" of singleness!
God's instruction to Adam was "be fruitful and multiply" How is this done without a mate?
This mandate has never been revoked !

//Paul said "it's better to marry than be filled with passion"// 1st cliff

1Co 7:6 But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment.
1Co 7:7 For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.
1Co 7:8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I.
1Co 7:9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.

To Bro.1stCliff .. my apologies, just know I will pray for your friend to get & meet that lady I had a friend believe it or not she married her childhood love of her life! She was 78 years old. would not marry while her mother said wait untill she died, first before get married. She obey her mother. Love of Jesus!
---lidia4796 on 7/23/13

aka, Well that's all very "correct" but when for young people, who's hormones are raging, it's natural to seek a mate!
Paul said "it's better to marry than be filled with passion" Not meaning to wait for years for God to send one!
I have a personal friend "Wayne" who is a devout Christian (I've known for 30 years)who's waited all his life for God to send him a mate, Now feels he's missed out on life, family, children and grandchildren (in his 60s) and is most unhappy! (emotional basket case)
---1st_cliff on 7/23/13

cliff, a young man might have been minding his own business when he met the woman of his life, and later when he is older, he can say to his grandchildren, "your her i found a good woman." yet, at the time, he was not seeking.

the hebrew word is maw-tsaw' or matsa. it cab be an active verb - to find or an inactive verb - to be found. overall it means to obtain or to have.

to have a good spouse, does not necessarily require that you have to go out and find that person.

Prov.18.22 "He that finds a wife, finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord"
Notice it says "finds" a wife? Not sit back and wait for God to send him one!!!

Cliff have you noticed that you and I appear to be the only two on CN that married a good partner?....
---Elder on 7/15/13

Add a third one. 37 years. Having this wife caused me to want to take a different direction.
I didn't have to go to a nude beach or communist france to find her. We had very little at first and now our cups overflow.
Pro 31:27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
Pro 31:28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed, her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Pro 31:29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.

Hi Shira, thank you so much :) A good husband is such a blessing--and especially when they're sober and living by the Lord's values. :) God bless your day, love and hugs, Mary :)
---Mary on 7/18/13

mary, your is the best testimony I ever heard. what you described is pure faith. I am thankful for your post.what you described is sort of how it was with my husband. He got saved feb 04 and he never touched alcohol again. he was the sweetest man in the world.
---shira4368 on 7/18/13

I'm so proud of my husband. :) He is in rehab for alcohol use and is really walking the walk now! :) He's also reading the Bible everyday and going to meetings, he's currently living the in the VA and I miss him terribly but this will be worth it all. :)

My husband is my best friend. We do everything together, especially ministering. God put us together and it works real well. Some of the women in the church wanted to know why I didn't go out with them when we first came to this church to pastor. My answer was that my husband and I really enjoy being together and have the same likes and dislikes in a lot of things. Since many of them married non-christian men (so they could run they house instead of their husbands) they didn't understand this.

I was married to my spouse for 50 yrs 3 days. he was a 23 yr vet in the air force. he served in korea and Vietnam and he passed away in 06 from agent orange. he became a Christian in feb, 04. he was a good man and he worked harder than anyone I know. his parents made him work in the fields starting at 10. his dad made him drive a car to pick up workers at the age of 10. he was raised poor...I mean poor. their car was rotted out and he could see the ground when driving it. I will see him one day in heaven. I am thankful he was saved.

My husband is my best friend. We were born in the same month, on the same day & in the same year(5 hrs. difference) :-) We went to school together from first grade through the 8th. Girlfriend/boyfriend throughout. I left that school & so did he. Got back together 6 years later & have been married for 30 years. :-) we both love the Lord & each other. He has worked hard & supported me & our daughter. There's nothing bad or negative I can say about him. He's one in a billion lifetimes & I'm so glad the Lord gave him to me. I'm extremely blessed.:-)

Elder, I guess good spouses are as scarce as hen's teeth!
---1st_cliff on 7/16/13

elder the reason you appear to have a successful marriage is because you do have a successful marriage. you appreciate your wife more than anyone I ever met. I can see why too. she is a sweety and she is smart and she is a real Christian and that means the most. I love her too.

Bonnie saves me from ridicule and says to me "you're not going out with those pants and shirt are you?" so I change and guess what happens? no one laughs at me!
Behind every successful man is a good woman! I ain't that successful but I do have a good woman! (she's beside me not behind)
---1st_cliff on 7/15/13

Cliff we all know you rode your bike into a tree when you were young. But, things will go wrong.
To prove my point I see that I spelled my wife's name wrong on the second Jeraldleen. Boy, I hope she doesn't see it...
There was the married couple that lived next door to a beautiful single lady named Joann Leavin.
The married couples biggest fights were when he would be late getting ready for work.
He would forget his lunch and things. His wife would ask him, "What in the world are you thinking about?"
He would answer, "I've got leaving on my mind." Then the fight would start.
He, like all of us, just gets misunderstood sometimes.

How about spouses like me that aren't quite so "wonderful", finding it hard to get through the day without something happening???
Like Rodney Dangerfield, I say to my wife "call me if something goes right"
---1st_cliff on 7/14/13

It's not what I say about how great my wife is but what those who have nothing to gain say about her. Therein is the real truth. To know her is to love her. Want any kind of righteous help call her. Need a friend she'll be yours. Need prayer ask her, and stand back and watch the Lord answer with fire if need be.
She is the only woman I have ever met that the birds sing about her, they sing... Jeraldleen, Jeraldleen, Jealdleen.... pretty, pretty, pretty!
