How To Deal With Fear

How many here are fearful of some things and wish that you were not. E.g. the dentist, having certain medical procedures done, being a failure in work, having lawless children.

How do you PERSONALLY deal with that? Does prayer just 'help a little' or does it 'solve it'.

Hello,Sis.Rita, been concern about you,it' reminds me ( before they finally) got it right..

But,it took me,yes..going lots in prayer to get myself together getting mad, worried was not going to do nothing but make things worse! God is good,He is in control.. my trust is in Him.

As I have said in another blog, some tests are completed and have shown what I don't have wrong with me but, so far, so solutions to finding help to alleviate the problems. I see the consultant in about a month and hope for some answers or advice (even it it's just a suggested change in lifestyle etc.) to make life more comfortable and less frightening (I have good and bad days).

Thanks for all your prayers.
---Rita_H on 12/25/13

Thank you Mark and Lidia. I will come back with information when I have received it myself.

---Mark_V. on 11/13/13

I asked this question in July and had forgotten that I done so. I asked because I was about to embark on some medical tests which were giving me sleepless nights. I was very fearful of the tests, the results and possible treatment. I had the latest test just a few days ago and results are due in a few more days.

I'd appreciate the prayers of all who read this at Christianet.

Friends, when Fear knocks at your doors, send Faith to open it. And you will find, there is noone there. Or, when Fear shows up, get ontop of it, Thats where Jesus is. Praise Him every moment of the day cos He is mighty and awesome and ever so present in all times of need amen.

Sister Lidia, what you just finished saying is Awesome. I loved every detail you gave concerning God. That is the God of the Bible. Thank you so much for what you said. That brings a lot of blessings.

Fear has torment.
1.We can not do nothing of our selves, we can not
even breathe if God does not allow!

2.the best thing that we can do is give it all over to the Lord Pray & leave it there.

3.Fear- makes the problem worse!affects your mind, body, spirit etc.

God is a rewarder to those who diligently trust in him.

we got to trust God. Heb.11:1

Faith is the key that will many times, unlock that door.
another thing,I learn if he does not work it out the way, I want,it's because 4.God is sovereign.
5.he is omnicient,omnipresent,etc.
6.He knows what is best.

Jn3:16

I believe God answers every prayer of his children. It is either, yes, no or wait.
---kathr4453 on 11/7/13

There is a song called "in His time".... Gods timing is not to suit us but to honor Him. Can't remember where it's located in the New Testament but it goes... All things work together to those who loves God and called according to His purpose. We may not understand why God don't answer prayer but later on down the road He will answer.
---shira4368 on 11/7/13

Sis. Rita, prayer does not always solve our problems. The way God works in everyone's life is something we could never comprehend. Every individual is held by His Sovereign power. And He knows what is best for all concern even if we do not understand the answer at the moment. Many are blessed that they don't have children that really rebel. For some reason or another, other do. Prayer to me has a few reasons.
1. It allows us to communicate with the Lord in the Spirit.
2. We are also called to pray for others and ourselves.
3. because we want to keep a connection with God since He is our Father and we Trust Him no matter the answer.
---Mark_V. on 11/7/13

Mark, my prayer for you is that you will know the love of God, who sent His s Son to die for the sin of the WHOLE world, and through that love He has for you, you will proclaim that same LOVE to others.

Don't be afraid to access your free will, as satan is afraid you will, and has kept you in fear and bondage all these years to do his bidding.

Don't be afraid of trials and testings, bringing you into being made PERFECT IN love. That perfection gives us that confidence that when we see Him, we have nothing to fear.
---kathr4453 on 11/7/13

Kathr, stop showing so much of that love you have to others. You are killing us with your love. Stabbing us in the back with love is not Scriptural.
Today make a change. Stand and speak for the Truth, and stop bringing evil love. God will forgive you if your heart is contrite. He forgives anyone who already has faith in Him.
---Mark_V. on 11/7/13

Markv, after you have been tries and tested, leading you on to maturity, you will stop all these antics and smoke screens you use to avoid questions.

No one was attacking you or your family. I simply asked you questions based on your own personal experience.

Kathr, you say "Markv, I posted scriptures that God put HIS LOVE in us." God hasn't put His love in you, you just attacked me, my wife, and my children. Do you call that the Love of God in you? That is not the love of God, but the evil in you.
Saying those things to anyone does not bring you closer to Christ, it distance you from Him. It shows the kind of salvation you really have with your free will. And it doesn't stop with you attacking my family, Elder has done the same thing. All because I bring to you a God who is all Sovereign and decides who goes to heaven and who continues going to hell. You just hate for God to have mercy on whom He wills to have mercy on.
---Mark_V. on 11/6/13

Markv, I posted scriptures that God put HIS LOVE in us. and no where are we even discussing Jesus not being God. What a twisted mess of nonsense you are.

So tell me MarkV, why aren't your children saved? did God fail to keep HIS Fearful promise to you?

I'm Kept by the fact that the LOVE of God constrains me, not the fear.

Did God put HIS fear in your Children? Why, because your children are special because you are? and now they are kept by God through fear?

The Perfect Law of LIBERTY is not one of fear.

Does your wife FEAR YOU? have you made your fear so well know to your wife, that the only reason she stays with you is because she FEARS YOU?

I bet that might be true.
---kathr4453 on 11/6/13

If fear comes to your door, send FAITH to answer, and you will never find anyone there lol. Christians should not have anything to fear but God. amen.
---janz on 11/6/13

Kathr, you forgot again that Jesus Christ is God. When you said,
"To say God put "fear" in us to keep us from departing is to say the New Birth of Christ in You who is your Life, is not enough."
Hello, Jesus in you is God.
It is written in Scripture.
"Then I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me forever, for the good of them and their children" (Jer. 32:29).
You are now claiming there is no fear of God in you.

God says about those who worship Him with LIP SERVICE (prayer...give me this and give me that) in Isaiah 29:13 "and their fear of me is a commandment of men" (instead of just TRUSTING ABBA FATHER....FATHER knows best). It is MAN (MAN at the pulpit wants only money) who has fostered so many fearful and needy attitudes in us. WE must intentionally/deliberately make His gracious giving good enough ("sufficient") for us and we must also deliberately "DECREASE" in order to have Him INCREASE in our lives (we must not be so high and mighty as though we are a great prophet/teacher, etc. (GOD is the only "HIGH AND LOFTY ONE" and He "inhabits eternity", Isaiah 57:15).
---faithforfaith on 11/5/13

1 John 4:18
There is no fear in love, but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love

God does not control us by fear. The "Love of God" has been shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit.

One thing about the New Covenant Markv quoted is it does not guarantee "and your Children" as he well knows.

DOES every single promise under the New Covenant belong to the CHURCH? NO! We do know the promise of the Spirit does, however with Israel it goes beyond, to land, children etc.

To say God put "fear" in us to keep us from departing is to say the New Birth of Christ in You who is your Life, is not enough.
---kathr4453 on 11/5/13

Bryan, I believe that Darline is correct because of what all Christian should have, the fear of God in them. It is written under the New Covenant, "Then I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me forever, for the good of them and their children after them. And I will make an everlasting Covenant with them, that I will not turn away from doing them good: but I will put My fear in their hearts so that they will not depart from Me." (Jer. 39,40).
The fear of God is what helps us all through our journey.

Personally fear. If you understand you have Jesus in you, the Hope of Glory. And Jesus does not give you a spirit of fear. Prayer works speaking the word over yourself works to, or even better sow the Gospel into other peoples life. And you will reap it in you life, works the best of all. This is what Jesus said what you sow is what you will reap. Be careful of your words they are the seed of life. Plant the Gospel and your harvest will be good things.

Out of FEAR come all sorts of evil thoughts and actions. FEAR is what leads to hate. Those who FEAR people who don't look and act like them, will show that fear in hateful ways.

When scripture says, God didn't give you a spirit of FEAR, but LOVE, and a SOUND MIND, that is the mind of Christ.

We know Elijah was fearful of Jezebel. In that case it does appear he solved it by translating Elijah out of the world..."Beam me up Scotty" is something we all wish at one time or another could happen in difficult situations.

BUT fear many times has to do with the way our MIND overreacts too to situations. 99% of the time we only fear fear itself.
---kathr4453 on 8/9/13

God equipped us with fear response. When we fear our body sends out adrenalin, the signal to either fight or have flight. The adrenalin gives the body extra strength. Having fear doesn't mean I don't have faith. How I respond to the fear, whether in faith or in the flesh which gets me frozen by that fear. We must gain knowledge of God's Word for He has said we have power over all the power of the enemy. When I fear I stand on the Word of God and the authority He gives us through Jesus Name and I rebuke the specific spirit in operation and say get behind me Satan for its written, quote the Word,in Jesus Name. My strength is from God as well as my body strength, and I am a warrior of God and the Word and I shall overcome in Jesus Name.
---Darlene_1 on 8/7/13

Fear means to run. There are the feelings of fear which come straight from demons. Ignore them! Staying in prayer is a must for God's people, especially in these wicked days. As you grow you will have more victories in this area. Don't forget that victories can only come from God.
---catherine on 8/1/13

Within the past six months, I was told that I (a) had MRSA, (b) had C-DIF--it wrecks your bowels--mine still aren't right, (c) would never walk again--they were wrong, I'm walking just fine, thank you very much!, and (d) that I had a third compression fracture of my spine.

Lots of reasons to be afraid, but even though I was, I kept right on praying and waiting on God. The MRSA went away, as did the C-DIF. The fracture is healed, and I can walk.

Praise be to Jesus Christ!
---MonkBrendan on 7/26/13

Fear is a natural emotion that God has given us to warn us of possible harm. Sometimes because of fear hearing increases, strength is magnified, reaction is increased, blood pressure rises, our body moves faster and other things.
The word "fear" in II Tim 1:7 is not the above type of fear. The word "fear" in this passage means timidity, cowardice and/or unmanliness. We don't have that type of fear because Christ has given us the Spirit of power, love and a sound mind.
---Elder on 7/25/13

Rita, prayer helps you depend on God more and more each day. That is a privilege unbelievers do not have, to go before God through Jesus Christ. As a believer, continue to trust in the Lord, He works things out the correct way, He is never fails.

I know God don't give us a spirit of fear but I am afraid of some things. I think God gives us some fear for our own safety. I have a fear of hitting someone with my car. I don't like flying but I do it. I have fear of home invasions because it goes on all the time. God did give me some fear and I know it. all humans have fear and come to think of it, so do animals.

I consider fear to be sin, and I confess any fear that I am aware of and trust God to get rid of it.

But I keep discovering sneaky forms of fear. Criticizing can be fear in a very sneaky form. I now moreso trust God to make compassion my first response to wrong people.

Shira, I responded to your comment but somehow it didn't get posted. I can't remember all that I said but basically it was to let you know that I could never laugh at your comments about the future of America & no one else should either because I feel that you're too close to the truth to find humor in what you said. We as Believer's in Christ should get serious about the fate of our Nation & do what 2Ch.7:14 says for us to do! Without God's help & protection America is in serious trouble! We need to wake up people!

God's got everything under control. I frequently have prayed, "We know there's nothing that's going to happen to me that You and I can't handle together. About my present doubt, uncertainty, and anxiety, I ask Thy will be done."

"How do you PERSONALLY deal with that?" By embracing the faith of Jesus that the Father has made available to every believer. Personally, by His grace, I trust Father's Word, and the inspiration and encouragement He provides via that Word. Although this was spoken to Joshua, 'I' believe that it is applicable to all the Father's chosen. "Have I not commanded you? Be strong, and of good courage, do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go." And "If God [is] for us, who [or what can be] against us?" He promise to His Children is "I will never leave you, nor forsake you." I believe that Rita, do you?

rita_h,

i wished sometimes i had a little fear. it would have kept me out of some bad decisions because i was too stupid to be cautious.

in a lot of cases, we say prayer when it is actually really just worry. i think this can be helpful. also, i think it can cause inaction.

ask what you want, if it is in His will, it will happen.

what prayers do you think are in the bowl in Revelation. I believe they are sincere prayer to the Lord that was not answered because it was not in His will.

so, it does help, but it doesn't necessarily solve it. the solution is already written.
---aka on 7/20/13

I think it's normal to have a bit of nervous fear when it comes to things you have no control over. I have tons of nervousness when it comes to thinking about America's future & the future of the children growing up today.
When I began to feel overwhelmed by it all the only thing I can do is cry out to my Father to calm my fears & help me be strong in Him. That's not a quick fix, however, if I pray consistently-daily-even hourly if necessary,I will start to notice that my fears are smaller & I have a sense of control over them. God hears us when we're fearful & need Him. Allow Him to protect your thoughts & calm your fears.
