"where is your eyes and ears? have you not seen what is going on in the world." shira4368

Where are your ears? Why do you not harken unto what Christ spoke?

"And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet." Matthew 24:6

"I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things." Isaiah 45:7

"Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth." Psalm 46:10

Can you not hear?

Christian, where is your eyes and ears? have you not seen what is going on in the world. I watched a documented series on discovery channel. even in the mid 30's the muslims were beheading, poked out eyes of children in front of their mothers and other things that broke my heart. just use your common sense and look how many mosque have been built in the U.S. in the past 10 yrs. get your head out of the sand.

"muslims are a real threat to America whether you see it or not." shira4368

Unless you can tell me that the Holy Bible say so, as a Christian, that's the least of our problems. The issue of life and death taught in the Bible does not specifically point to the Muslims but as Christ warns, "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves." I don't see that pointing to the Muslims or the Hindus or Buddhism at all.

PRECISELY! So why is the west meddling in their affairs? Isn't it none of anybody's business outside of their country? Look how it all worked out for the Europeans, Russians - tails in back going home. And now the United States? The result will be the same.

Excellent point and well said!

Well, guess who are now the "new Europeans" who have to leave the own homeland in the name of their own self-righteousness to go slaughter innocent lives? No where are we told when the heathen nations were warring against each other that God told Israel to go intervene and make themselves "heroes" of democracy and freedom.

Hope this helps.

---Cluny on 9/12/13

Shira: For your first question, I Googled 'executive orders president'. I scrolled down to the link from the Federal Registry.

To read the Affordable Care Act, go to Thomas website. It's .gov. There you can search for any bill or law. Because that law was passed in 2009, you'll have to search in that Congress'.

I hope this helps.
---Grandma on 9/12/13

Allan, the Holy land, Israel, was historically the land of the Jews and after Jesus' resurrection also of Christians. It was not a Muslim land until it was invaded by Muslims, and conquered in AD 637. Therefore the people with whom the Crusaders fought were themselves invaders. This is history, not interpretation.

As regards your comments about the west I know the difference between those whose wars/conquests were done in Jesus' name (without seeking His counsel of course) and those who actually follow what He actually taught-see Matthew ch. 5 for example. Were the people of whom you speak following this?

Do you think it is news to me that man has killed man almost from the beginning. Is that God's fault, or mans?
---Warwick on 9/12/13

Warwick:

Your interpretation of the christian crusades to the Middle East is very interesting.

You seem to be saying that the Muslims, Middle Eastern christians and Arabs who have lived nowhere else but the Middle East, invaded their own countries and therefore, European christians had to leave Europe to slaughter them in their own homes and in their own cities.

While you are making reference to context, perhaps, as a well-read man, you would take another dispassionate look at the history of Western Europe and USA, the centers of the christian world and note the almost continuous religious and convenient wars within their respective regions and the world.

True context does allow for better understanding.
---Allan on 9/12/13

grandma, where did you get your information on the amount of executive orders by 2 presidents? I tried to find the new health bill online but I couldn't find it. I would like to read it and also read where you found executive orders.
---shira4368 on 9/12/13

Allan, sometimes people write about the Crusades with little idea of the historical reality. In reality the Muslims were later-day invaders of the Holy Land who closed the country to Christian pilgrims who had been going there for hundreds of years before Islam existed. The Roman Catholic church initiated the Crusades so as to re-open the Holy Land once again to Christian pilgrims. So it was Muslim invaders fighting against 'Christian' invaders.

I am not defending the RCC but simply pointing out they were not invading a Muslim country as the Hollywood version has it.

Allan, you say,
"
The evidence of sin is relentlessly with us. That cannot be the issue."

That is the real issue, sin. What you are doing is comparing one countries sin from another. It is still sin. You sin once and you have brought condemnation under the law of God. Do you compare yourself to another brother or sister? Do you say, I sin less then he does so that make you worthy? Every person in this world sins. All are responsible to God. That is the real issue, SIN.

allen, muslims have been killing Christians for hundreds of years. they are still killing Christians especially at this time in history, muslims are destroying Egypt and burning their churches. it is a fact that muslims want to conquer the whole world.
---shira4368 on 9/11/13

shira4368:

Here is a verifiable fact. Christians have lived within Muslim societies for hundreds of years before America was ever a nation. Yet, it was European christians who initiated Crusades against the Muslim people.

Here is a modern day illustration. Jews lived in Iraq for many centuries until the Americans destroyed Iraq, in 2003 -... and did what they have always done, in order to to seize control, and institute division and divisiveness as virtues.

Shira, here is a little assignment for you. Before 2001, compare the crime rates and the murder rates of middle eastern countries with those of the USA and feel free to publish the results.
---Allan on 9/11/13

MarkV

Undoubtedly, there are many things that I have failed to understand. However, stating the empirical facts should not be perceived as "bashing". Is the information factually verifiable? If the answer is yes, then that is that!

The evidence of sin is relentlessly with us. That cannot be the issue.

All nations have done remarkable evil in the world. Yet, one nation and people, above all others, have persistently claimed a position of moral rectitude that is superior to all others. Amazingly and consistently, the record of this super nation, in many instances, is exponentially worse than some of the nations that are condemned.

Inconvenient facts should not a valid reason for vitriolic verbiage.

You're missing everything. If you haven't noticed Obama overstepping congress in order to push his own agenda against the will of the people and against the will of congress. There's a reason congress exists, to prevent the president from just doing whatever he wants. This president doesn't understand that or just doesn't care. Chronically voiding congressional powers through "executive actions", "executive orders", as well as ignoring and trampling the constitutional rights of individuals is the mark of a man who wants to be dictator.

"I have no issue with Israel following God's instructions (but then, I could not figure out why God just didn't take care of it himself?)." NurseRobert

Didn't He take care of it Himself by willing the children of Israel to wipe out the heathen nations? You think Israel did it by themselves and not by the power of God's hands over them? You and I breathe because God wants us to breathe, without Him we won't breathe.

"The fact is, some wars are just and necessary and killing in these wars is not sinful (disagreeable, maybe, but not sinful)."

So, are you going to war on he account that it's God's instruction to you like He commanded Israel? Or are you going to war for your own agenda?
---christan on 9/11/13

Allen, the only times I have seen you answer blogs is when you want to condemn the USA. You did it before and now you are at it again. What you fail to understand is that sin is in the world. In every country. No one is exempt. Another thing you fail to understand is that the rights we now have is because of the many things this country has done. But it is all just sin. Why don't you call it what it is. Sin of greed, power, money and that happens in every country. You must not be from his country and all you want to do is bash America. If you live here and don't like what this country does, move out where you will be happy. Meet sin somewhere else.

Surprising as it may appear to some, Christians have lived peacefully within Muslim communities, in Syria and other nations with major Muslim populations, for centuries before there was ever a country called the USA.

The idea of a "just war" is the cruel construct of the super, killer nations to excuse their pillaging and killing sprees, across the world.

The use of chemical weapons is not abhorrent to America and Americans. America has a long tradition of using chemical weapons. World wars I and II, the Korean war and the Vietnam war are some examples. Of course, the USA still possesses the largest stockpile of weapons of mass destruction, in the world.

And from whom did Iraq get chemical weapons, in 1988?

"Which one is correct? God has never told me personally to go anywhere and kill people, but God has no problem wiping out entire cities (Deut 20:10-15)." NurseRobert

Remember this: Israel was literally commanded by God (who spoke through Moses and the prophets) to go wipe out the heathens and those around them. Do you think it would be wise to go against God's command at that point? Remember what happened to the ten spies, the prophet Samuel (between the Amalek king and king Saul)?

Do you then have a problem with that? King David proclaimed, "Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is now their God? But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased." Psalm 115:2,3

here you say all killing is a sin.

Which one is correct? God has never told me personally to go anywhere and kill people, but God has no problem wiping out entire cities (Deut 20:10-15).

The 6th Commandment is dealing with murder, not justified killing. Do you understand the concept of blood guilt?

Something else you should consider is the concept of a "Just War" as postulated by Augustine of Hippo and Thomas Aquinas

That said, do we belong in Syria? Do we allow people to kill each other with chemical weapons?

The only thing I know to do is pray that God will move the hearts of not only national leaders but everyone living in Syria to peace, and will protect the Christians living there.

You all may not know this, but there is a Christian community in a Syrian city (half of them are Orthodox) who speak Aramaic, the vernacular of Our Savior. It's been taken over by the rebels. But both Russian and the Syrian government are trying to protect the Christians.

I don't know what language they use liturgically--probably a mixture of Greek, Arabic, and Aramaic.

In the last 70 years, name a war of any significance, in any part of the world, in which America was not supplying the weapons, directing one and or the direct involvement.

The amazing thing is, most Americans seem to think that America has been trying to make peace. No one seems willing to see the billion-dollar arms sales, the plundering of the natural resources and the control of those governments as the usual outcomes from those bloody forays across the world.

The sanitized, filtered and often repeated versions of history mask the true identity of a remarkable nation and people who have continued to disguise their killing sprees and plundering raids in the apparently benign garb of peace and freedom.

Would it be accurate to state that since the end of World War II that Americans have killed tens of millions of men, women and children, in various countries, across the globe?

Moreover, would it be true that the Americans have invaded more countries than any other single country on earth?
Which country spends more on war and the preparations for war than all other countries combined?

Finally, would it be true to say that more than one hundred years after the founding of America that less than 30% of its citizens were allowed to vote, in nation elections?

Say what? You're trying to split hair with your understanding of what is "Thou shall not kill". Do remember that no conditions to what constitute to killing after that command in the Ten Commandments is highlighted. It's unconditional! The minute you drop a bomb, you're killing people which amounts to murder and the breaking of the law of "Thou shall not kill".

As for Israel, God SPECIFICALLY commanded Israel to kill in the OT. Today, do you hear God telling you to go into Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan or Vietnam to kill? Well, do you?

I think it would be a mistake to attack Syria. (I'd be labeled a "Hawk" under normal circumstances, but this case is different.) First, shooting shots, "cross the bow" would accomplish nothing. Second, we would have "boots on the ground" in the future, even if they say we won't. Third, it would be a lose-win situation in the long run. Fourth, while it seems O.K. for us in the USA to have our service peopled killed, those in the administration think this is fair since we are doing the right thing. Fifth, President is just trying to take attention away from our problems right here. While some think we here in the states are "war weary", it's more we are always losing and we are tired of it.)

Hello,my late mother used to say " the democrats always when economy in trouble they invent make wars so , money can start circulate"
I no longer appease politics, but what we need is a godly holy ghost filled person for president, out with this gentleman in Jesus name. He has lied to us. He is a muslim. This nation was founded on Christianity..
I am obligated to pray for him,but he is not right. It' a matter of life and death we need our nation get back to God! War is not the answer but the bible says there going to be wars and rumors of wars..
