Shira, James L calls your post "good stuff." your interpretation of the passage is very wrong. Here is what you say the passage you gave states,
"when we fall away just means we have lost our relationship with God." No passage states that. Then say,
" He will restore us but we must ask for forgiveness everyday. God will forgive. matthew 18:22 tells us we are forgiven over and over" That is not speaking about God forgiving us over and over. The question to Jesus was,
"Lord how offend shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?"
Speaking of a brother forgiving another brother. Not God forgiving you over and over. James thought it was good stuff.
---Mark_V. on 9/27/13

James, still crying I see, You wante to know why, hear this, I believed falling away from the faith meant been lost. I gave you my answer why, I believed it was. That is all you asked. You didn't say you had to like it. It wasn't what you believed but what I believed.
If a person fall's away from the faith. What does that definition mean? Away from the faith. No faith. He left it behind. Losing faith for a genuine believe is impossible. If you believe it is possible, great. I cannot make you believe what I believe, feel what I feel, understand what I understand. Only God has that power.
You only want to show how great a guy you are, let me say, you are a great guy, if that is what you want to hear that will make you happy.
---Mark_V. on 9/26/13

Shira,
good stuff. I agree with you at least 98%

I was simply trying to get an answer from Mark as to why he thinks someone would be lost if they fall away.

I asked him for scripture, and he gave his opinion. I guess his opinion is on the same level as scripture.

I was just trying to get some details of his uninformed philosophy

Thanks, MarkV. Your non-answers were answer enough for most people. Good job.
---James_L on 9/25/13

james, when God saves, He does it for life and forever life in heaven. when we fall away just means we have lost our relationship with God. He will restore us but we must ask for forgiveness everyday. God will forgive. matthew 18:22 tells us we are forgiven over and over. that is exactly why we must forgive others no matter what they do to us. that does not mean we are a doormat. it just means we forgive. when we don't forgive our hearts get hard and we can get bitter so forgiving one another is for our benefit.

\\ No believers can fall away from the faith (be lost) and repent again...\\
---Mark_V. on 9/24/13

Mark,

The podigal Son is a great example of one being saved than lost and alive again:

" For this Son of mine was DEAD and is ALIVE AGAIN, he was lost and is found"(LK 15:24)

How can you be alive again unless you were at one point in your life!
---Ruben on 9/25/13

James, why do you not get it? What is causing you to see? Are you blind and in darkness? You say to me again and again,
"You STILL haven't answered why you think falling away = lost"
If you fall away from the faith, you have no faith. Only the lost have no faith. That is what I believe. You don't have to like it, believe it, or even try to make sense of it.
I believe that is enough answers for you.
---Mark_V. on 9/25/13

\\ No believers can fall away from the faith (be lost) and repent again...\\
---Mark_V. on 9/24/13

You STILL haven't answered why you think falling away = lost

Why do you keep insisting that someone is unsaved if they fall away ??

It's a VERY simple question, man. And I've asked it only about 8 times

Are you ever going to simply answer the question I asked, or keep playing games ??
---James_L on 9/24/13

1 Corinthians 10:4_8 "And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them, as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand."
---Nana on 9/24/13

Hebrew 6:4-6 tells us,
"For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, "if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance," since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put him to open shame"
No believers can fall away from the faith (be lost) and repent again to crucify Christ again. To renew them again means for them to be born of the Spirit again. Another new creation. That only happens once forever. That is why the passage says, "it is impossible."
---Mark_V. on 9/24/13

\\ Fall-way means to be lost from the faith. Lost, become unsaved. \\
---Mark_V. on 9/23/13

WHY do you think that ?

Is there anything in scripture that says "fall away means lost, unsaved" ??
---James_L on 9/23/13

Fall-way means to be lost from the faith. Lost, become unsaved. No true believer fall's away from their faith. They are kept by the power of God. Scripture nowhere teaches that those born of God by the Spirit ever go back to been dead in trespasses and sins again. And that if possible they can be born again again. Once a child of God always a child of God. If someone does not believe that God stands by His promises, he has no faith in God. but is depending on his salvation on his own works.
Salvation is by the Grace of God. Not by works.
---Mark_V. on 9/23/13

James L, why do you waste your time again? here you go again, you say,
"Mark,
You answered like a politician, which is nothing more or less than playing games."
you wanted an answer and I gave you one, why are you still crying? Again, you did all that talk about wanting an answer, made such a big deal, so that you could now say you did not like my answer. you did not asked me to answer you with an answer you would like. I don't know what you like. Now you want another answer, what for? So you can keep this rediculing going on? you do not deserve an answer but I will answer. I believe in the Protestant View, no one who is born of God can be lost. They never fall away from their faith. We are kept by God, not by our works.
---Mark_V. on 9/23/13

when a Christian looses their joy and relationship with God, that does not mean he is lost. many loose their joy but when we loose our joy, we can never get back to where we were.
---shira4368 on 9/22/13

Mark,
You answered like a politician, which is nothing more or less than playing games.

It could have gone like:

Q: Why do you think cats are afraid of water?
A: A cat is a four-legged animal

Q: Why do you think that guy lost his job?
A: People need jobs to be able to buy food

In like fashion, your "answer" had absolutely nothing to offer for my question.

Care to try again with an answer to what I actually asked ??

If not, just say so, and I'll drop it.

I don't want to make you keep sinning with your anger
---James_L on 9/22/13

James, you made such a big deal about me not answering you, wrote so the world could read it, and now you say you don't care one little bit about what I said. I never told you to believe it, or that it was something you would like, I answered you kindly again, for nothing.
If you feel that way, don't ask any questions. You don't care anyway. you have a chip on your shoulder just like many here, and until you get it off, you will be in bondage to that sin. You wanted an answer and I answered, praise be to God in the highest.
---Mark_V. on 9/22/13

Mark,
I don't care even one little bit what you think Orthodox teachings are about falling away. And I don't care even a little what you think Protestant teachings are on being saved forever.

I asked a very simple question, and you tried to answer everything except what I asked.

You said that one who is born again can't fall away...can't become lost again.

So you are clearly understanding falling away as becoming lost

Why do YOU think FALL AWAY=LOST ??

markv, maybe we already know how you are gonna answer. you are pretty predictable here.
---shira4368 on 9/21/13

James, I thought you were making a statement not asking a question, when you were angry. Since I cannot tell in what mode you are in when you answer. Yes I remember, I'm not pretenting as you suppose. Answer.
Orthodox teachings, teaches that we are been saved, not saved yet, and since it is not a done deal yet, you can lost your salvation. The passages in Hebrew 6:4-6) is a case in point. "if they fall away, to renew" them again to repentance" No one is renewed again. That happens only one time and it is forever. protestant teachings teach that once you are saved, you are saved forever. Our salvation does not depend on man but on God.

---James_L on 9/21/13

Steven, I am a very patient guy. Almost nothing bothers me. One guy, not here on line anymore, is the only person I ever got mad with. He claim he suffered more the Christ and Job put together because they never had to clean a dirty toilet. All others don't get me mad, you know why? because when someone believes in a god who is weak, begging for sinful man to use their free will to choose Him and love Him, I know those people cannot be possibly saved. They have the wrong God of the Bible. When you say Satan created all denominations you condemn the gathering of many genuine believers. And give the glory to Satan for his work. I responded when you say, you never tell people to go to the internet and turn around and sent them to the internet.
---Mark_V. on 9/19/13

Steven 2: I never have a problem understanding what you say. I have a problem with what you say been true. I love to debate the word of God, but very few stay within the Word in answering. Most get angry and hunt you down in every blog. Like you do many times. I don't mind, the reason I answer you. If you really and truely want to know God, you should go to the internet, look up every passage that speaks about the nature, character and and attributes of God, then plant them in your heart. So that you will never forget them, So that when you answer a passage, if the interpretation you get goes against who God is, you have got it wrong. God never changes.
---Mark_V. on 9/19/13

James_L, you need to be truly patient with Mark V. He thinks everyone is against him who does not conform to his ideology, his own interpretation of the bible, being wise in his own conceit. It seems he has a good knowledge of the bible in a worldly sort of way.

He also has a thing about twisting other people's post as he does with scripture. And when you present scripture verses as he demands, he believes you have misinterpreted the verse (almost every time with me even when I present a dozen verses).

He also has a problem understanding that I ask people to do an KJV bible search for certain words, instead he thinks I telling people to go to the internet in general. This has been going on for years.
---Steveng on 9/18/13

James, what questions have you put to me? I have not seen any that I have to answer to, all I get from you are insults. I do not have time to answer insults. It is wasted time I could have used in the word of God. As I said before you did not have to answer my question whether there was two kinds of Christians in heaven. You had said there was two kinds of Christians, and only Christians make it to heaven so that is why I asked the question and I asked you very honestly but that was not good enough for you. If my question bothers you so much, you have the right not to answer. You think you are putting me down, but what you say will not make me sin or even bother me.

Where do you get the idea that anwering you makes me sin ---> ? ! ?

I feel like I'm beating my head against the proverbial wall, after I spend the time to show you where you fail and then you dismiss it with empty rhetoric.

I love debates.

But I don't think I've seen you debate more than once or twice in the three or four years I've visited this site.

You follow philosophers, not theologians. Makes for a very difficult theological debate, sir

Mark_V.: "I present Scripture to support what I say, the Truth, many don't like for me to contradict them or question what they say."

I present scripture and yet you still don't believe.

Satan is alwasy attcking people, especially christians. He will find a weak point and expoit it to the fullest until that person gives in. "For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders, insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect."
---Steveng on 9/17/13

Steven, for your information, Jesus told the disciples to go out and preach the gospel, if those people or city were not worthy to hear the Truth, for them to take back their peace. I present Scripture to support what I say, the Truth, many don't like for me to contradict them or question what they say. But a few like to insult you personally. I have not had you insult my person, so you are not one of them. I believe if someone wants to get personal, the Truth is lost. I tried to answer kindly. But what happens is that most everyone believes in free will, and have for many years, they are not about to give it up even when it compromises the Truth. So they get angry at me for telling them the Truth. They don't want to hear the Truth.
---Mark_V. on 9/17/13

James, if answering me makes you sin in your heart, why do you answer me? You must love to sin, for no answer you have given has brought peace. I gave you my peace and you threw it right back at me. You don't have to explain anything to me, for if it is not Truth, it has no power at all. I really don't mind what you believe. I thought you wanted to debate on scripture but all you want to do is insult me personally. Again, I take my peace with me.

Steven, you say,
"Satan is lying to you when you say a christians cannot fall from grace. It's the same lie told to Eve.."
What's happen is that you believed the devil, telling you God cannot sustain you. He wants to make you doubt in the power of God, and you believed him over the word of God just like Eve did. She thought the devil was the truth teller, and God was lying to them.
"..So that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift, as you wait for the revealing of Our Lord Jesus Christ, "who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ," God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord"
(1 Cor. 1:7-9).
---Mark_V. on 9/17/13

Satan is lying to you when you say a christians cannot fall from grace. It's the same lie told to Eve that "you shall not surely die." Christians are not immuned to sin.

Luke 8:13
1 Corinthians 8:11
1 Corinthians 10:11-12
1 Corinthians 15:18
Philippians 2:12
2 Thessalonians 2:3
1 Timothy 4:1
1 Timothy 5:12
1 Timothy 6:21
Hebrews 2:1-3

Hebrews 6:6
Hebrews 10:26-27
James 5:19-20

The very existence of these warnings proves that Christians can fall from grace. The only way to keep from falling is to fellowship daily because the world is full of tribulation, adversity, and the cares of the world.

Mark 3:35

35 For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

Ok here is the verse. And we know Jesus did not mean this LITERALLY. No one but one, is His earthly mother, and that was Mary.

So lets ask Bryan, how are you or anyone His Mother?

No where does it say father, my mistake.

So the question is, what does this verse REALLY mean?
---kathr4453 on 9/15/13

2Pe 2:19,20

While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

Those who live in unconfessed sin are not saved. We need to look to see if we are walking with JESUS. Not always attacking others.
---Samuelbb7 on 9/15/13

Mark 3:31-35 It's pretty clear in these versus.
---Bryan on 9/15/13

Brian where do you get we are brothers and sisters of Jesus. Doesn't that verse also say mothers and fathers. But we know we are not that either literally. YET if the NEW Creature is neither male or female, then it is impossible to be a brother or sister in the literal sense. To make that statement is to say we are equals with Jesus, and we are not. HE IS LORD, our Head.

I believe this is a reference used by Mormons. So I must ask you, are you Mormon ?

Mark_V.: "I take back my question and also take back my peace."

A curse? Out of all the replies you have posted, this time I know for sure you are not a christian in your cold-stoned heart. You surely have the knowledge of God, but surely deny his power.

God will take back his forgiveness from you.
---Steveng on 9/15/13

It is prophesized in scripture that in the end days there will a great falling away from the faith.

Many of you will say that they didn't have faith to begin with, but that does not what the prophesy says. It's expressly says a person had faith, but fell away.

Scripture mentions many reasons why christians lose their faith, but three are mentioned: fear of prosecution, adversity, and the cares of this world.

Many christians in countries like the USA and Europe may never be confronted with prosecution like the rest of the countries where thousand of christians die, but human nature takes over to most people to choose living than dying.
---Steveng on 9/15/13

James L, my question was honest, I never really understood when you talked about two kinds of Christians. I only know of one genuine Christian not two kind.
You went on and on about those who suffer and those with inheritance, that I never understood if you were talking about two kinds of Christians in heaven, those who suffered and those who didn't. And you never told me 50 times, maybe two, but I did not understand you. But if asking you a question brings anger out of you, I take back my question and also take back my peace.
---Mark_V. on 9/15/13

James L, first you get angry and don't want to talk to me, then after I just answered you, you address me with other one of your quotes. Make up your mind, I sure don't want you to sin just because you answer me. You now say,
"He also said that some believe, then fall away immediately, and that some fall away because they get caught up in the cares of the world" where does it say that those who have faith in Christ fall away? Not one of the elect can be lost, because a person without faith is not saved. You argue this by giving (2 Tim. 2:12) ""If we are faithless He remains faithful" You cannot possibly believe that a faithless person is save do you?

Steven, again you are very wrong. You do need Christian materials to help you understand the Bible better. Now you say,
" If one has fallen away, one must have been a born again christian in the first place."
Not true at all. Genuine Christians never fall away. They never lose their spiritual birth. They were bought with the blood of Christ. Jesus Himself will sustain them.
Nowhere are we told those born of the Spirit are lost. Not one time. It is your lack of understanding of who the apostates are. You do need books to teach you what it means. Bible along is not doing the job for you, you are not listening to the Spirit.
---Mark_V. on 9/14/13

I would say a lot of us have fallen away because we have stopped sharing the Gospel, and we have went back to sowing the laws of religion instead of freedom of the Gospel. Do you think it is going to be like u going around and saying u hate God? No u will stop sharing the Gospel that would be failing away for sure. If u don't believe it u must be failing away? Jesus said share the Gospel. The Gospel does not have to prove a point it is the seed that produce Gods' will in your life. Sow it and watch grow it will sets you free and who so ever.
---Bryan on 9/14/13

I realize my comments will fall on deaf ears, but...

There will be a great falling away from the faith as prophesized in the bible. If one has fallen away, one must have been a born again christian in the first place. Two reasons: one, persecution and adversity and, two, the cares of the world.

Christians are human just like all the other godly people in the bible. Today's christians vainly think they are different than all the other christians throughout history. They are not. They are human having human needs and are capable of falling from their faith.
---Steveng on 9/13/13

James L, did I misunderstand you? because you say,
"And there aren't two kinds of people in heaven, only one - Those who are born again through believing in Jesus Christ" If you believe that and you claim you do, why do you say ?,
"NOT every Christian will qualify" When you say Christian are you indicating false Christains?
Because if he is a genuine Christian he qualifies. Are their genuine Christains who do not qualify? I never heard of such a thing. All genuine Christians produce fruit not everyone the same. The parable of the Sower and the seed tells us,
"But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. He who has ears let him hear"

What makes you a Christian is your believing the finished work of the cross.

God's message of salvation is made clear today. Spoken prayers, water baptisms, public confessions won't earn you one step closer to salvation. Instead salvation rests upon the work of Christ on the cross on your behalf as Paul wrote.
Stop trusting your display of confession and start trusting in the words of Gods grace towards you in Christ, the hope of glory (Rom 4:24-25, 1 Cor 15:1-4).

I'm guessing you still haven't read what Jesus actually said ?? In context ?? You falsely ascribed words to Him that are in stark contradiction to what He actually said.

"Not words but fruit" is what you claimed that Jesus said, but HE later expounded that the fruit is WORDS.

\\ So don't try to justify your religion behind the word of God cause everybody can see your fruit. \\

You will know everybody by the FRUIT. Not just a bunch of false prophets. If you sow the Gospel it will follow out of you and it will set people free. If you sow religion with all it's rules it will flow out of you. Sets nobody free. So don't try to justify your religion behind the word of God cause everybody can see your fruit. Jesus has over 20 official "titles". Anyone interested in Jesus' titles, i suggest he look them up. Start with the Old Testament first. Blessings to you all. (:

Bryan, you say,
"Then what is the purpose of all bible schools and studying the word. Your all ready a brother are sister what else would you need?" the purpose to study is to learn what God wants us to do in our lives. The more you understand the Word of God the better you witness. He speaks to us through His Word, the more you read it, the more you know about the God you love. Have you ever been inlove? I have, and when I was, I wanted to know everything about the person I loved. When I first felt the love of Christ I wanted to learn all about Him, I was so happy and still am, and want everyone to know who He is. A day does not go by that I don't think of Him or mention His name. So I read about Him everyday when I study.

\\ Jesus said you will know them by their fruit not their words but by their fruit. \\
---Bryan on 9/10/13

Ummm, Bryan. I think you've heard about this supposed "fruit" too many times, and have never actually read what Jesus Himself said:

Matt 7:15-20
Beware of false prophets...you will know THEM (the false prophets) by THEIR fruit

Matt 12:30-34
Whoever SPEAKS a WORD against the Son of Man will be forgiven, But whoever SPEAKS against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven Him...Either make the tree and its fruit good, or the tree and its fruit bad...For the tree is known by its fruit

You're in the wrong orchard, looking for the wrong fruit

I am a Sister in Christ because I accept & confess Jesus as Lord, and according to Matthew 12: 50 Jesus is my brother because he said anyone doing his fathers will are his family.

\\ any born again person is my sister or brother in Christ. \\
---shira4368 on 9/9/13

Not so, Shira. One becomes a brother through sharing the Christ's sufferings

The testing of your faith produces endurance - James 1:3

If we endure, we will reign with Him - 2Tim 2:12

He left us an example to follow - 1Pet 2:21

To the degree that you share in the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His GLORY, you may rejoice with exultation - 1Peter 4:13

Joint-heirs IF we suffer with Him - Rom 8:17

NOT everyone in heaven wil be Christ's brother
---James_L on 9/10/13

So just getting born again turns you into a brother or sister of Christ? I'm not disagreeing with the statement. Then what is the purpose of all bible schools and studying the word. Your all ready a brother are sister what else would you need?
---Bryan on 9/10/13

Anybody can say they are born again but Jesus said you will know them by their fruit not their words but by their fruit. Anybody can make their tree look pretty but were is the fruit? Next question how then do you produce fruit? Giving out the good things that were given to you by Jesus, or do you just give people judgment? Do you tell them how wrong they are for believeing in the gifts of God , Holy Spirit, Miracles, Healing, Angels, Tongues, words of wisdom, words of knowledge. All the gifts of God. not just the ones you believe.

Bryan, what makes us brothers and sisters in Christ is our spiritual baptism. We are one body in Christ. Only the righteous are brothers and sisters in Christ. The rest are brothers and sisters of wrath. They are children of wrath. (Eph. 2:3) tells us that before God made us spiritually alive we were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. Children of wrath means that while lost we belonged to a race that had incurred the wrath of God.

Unconditional LOVE of God and of others.

Do an online KJV bible search for the words "one another," "each other," "comfort," and "encourag" and become wise in the true lifestyle of a christian.

John 13:35
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

1Jo 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

1Jo 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

That we love others. Not because our name is on a church roll.

Suffering makes on a brother

Heb 2:9-11
..Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor...For it was fitting for him...in bringing many sons to glory, to perfect the author of their salvation through sufferings...for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren

1Pet 2:21
..you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered...leaving an example for you to follow...

Rom 8:14-18, 29
...these are the sons of God...if children, heirs also...fellow heirs with Christ If We Suffer With Him

those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren

WE know what makes you a CHRISTIAN, But the question is what make you a brother or sister of Jesus?
---Bryan on 9/9/13

what makes me a Christian is I was born into the family of God. 1953 I was convicted by the Holy Spirit one sunday night where my dad pastored. I barely remember walking down to the altar. I have no doubt and I mean NO DOUBT that I am saved.
