Tormented With Fire

It says certain people will be "tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and the Lamb," in Revelation 14:10. Will they be tormented because of their selfish nature making them able to suffer? Or, could we of love's nature be tormented, too?

GOD is omnipresent. There is no place He does not exist. To escape. HIS prescence then they have to cease to exist.

Psa 139:8
If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

With regards to Hell. When I see a man remodeling a home it makes me think he's getting it ready to move into. When I see a man try to air condition hell, it make me think he's remodeling. :)

Torment is exemplified when you read the account of Lazarus and the rich man! It is better to teach how to overcome rather than to ponder over the sufferings of a unrepentant heart....

There is hope... just keep reading, searching and praying and more important DOING!!!

Peace Xx

Mark V, That is exactly right. Well put. They will hit Hell like a brick-wall, and they won't know what hit them.

I suppose it will bring great comfort to those who are separated from God right now to know that after death, they will be separated from God. That sounds great to them. But they will be greatly surprised. They will be separated from God, but separated from His blessings only, their problem will be the presence of God that will torment them. In Hell God will be present in the fullness of His divine wrath.

warwick, the previous blog is at the limit but just want to tell you I am not speculating because I don't know if God made other humans or not. what ever God did, He did and neither of us know. I can wonder about things not in the bible but I also know whatever God did, He don't make mistakes.

Torture is physically inflicting pain upon & causing varying degrees of mental anguish to a person(s) by another or others doing the torturing (meting out the assault).

Torment is an emotional state of mind resulting from either being physically tortured & /or from one's self-inflicting thoughts (speaking to one's self & being tormented with regrets ~ suffering burning thoughts). Likewise, the torturous words (firey darts) of others can torment us if we receive them within our mind/spirit.

I believe torture is physical pain & torment is spiritual regret, equal to if not more so painful. Bottom line: The most painful (burning) thing imaginable is to realize one will be eternally separated from God!

The Bible says the wicked will be destroyed.

1Cr 3:17 him shall God destroy,

1Cr 6:13 but God shall destroy both it and them.

2Th 2:8
And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

Hbr 2:14
that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil,

Jam 4:12
There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy:

1Jo 3: that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Rev 11:18 and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

willie_c, They will be tormented by real fire, just as the Scriptures say.
Besides the torments of utter emptiness, loneliness, hopelessness, a on-going meaningless existence. Not valued nor loved by anyone, not by GOD, by angels, nor by any other human being. A complete and utter waste of human existence.
The Lake of Fire is not only called the "Second Death", but also "Gehenna".
Named so after the common garbage dump outside Jerusalem. Always burning always rotting. Full of filthy garbage.

Such will be the Lake of Fire.
Full of angelic and human garbage.

"And before Him shall be gathered all nations: and He shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And He shall set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.

Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom PREPARED FOR YOU FROM THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD.

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, PREPARED FOR THE DEVIL AND HIS ANGELS."
Matthew 25:32,33

This has yet to come, but it's going to happen exactly as prophesied by Christ. You see, God has already written who's in the Book of Life and Death.

Bro. Willie, unbelievers go to the Great White Throne of judgment, they are condemned already, going for sentencing. Believers go to the Judgment Seat of Christ, where their bad works are burned, and they receive their rewards. Believers will be present at the sentencing of the tares. The unbelievers will suffer punishment. They will not be destroyed. Some suggest they will be separated from God, which brings relief to those who are already separated from God, but it will not be separation. Their problem will be the presence of God that will torment them. In hell God will be in the fulness of His divine wrath. He will be there to exercise His just punishment of the damned. They will know Him as an all consuming fire.
---Mark_V. on 10/13/13

According to the Scriptures, it's really simple - those going to the Lake of Fire is simply because of their unbelief in God Almighty, and that is He's Holy and we're sinful, period.

Even the Buddhist, Muslims and the world will tell you they have loved - does that mean they should go to heaven? On the account of the Scriptures, no. That's because the love is not rooted in the love of God through His Son Jesus Christ.

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6

Simply put, there's no other ways.

Willie the flame that torments the lost is a flash of Divine insight from the Father as concerning their fate, and the realization that by their own words they have been condemned. They are tormented by a burning internal desire to continue living, combined with the knowledge that they will soon go away into everlasting punishment. They shall perish (Greek apollymi- to put out of the way entirely, abolish, to be put to an end. Hebrew abad-be destroyed, be exterminated, vanish) In an Instant, Isa. 29:5, and that they will have no place in the beauty of the new earth or in all that the Father has prepared for those who love Him. The brimstone represents the power of the Father to "purify or to ward off the contagion" of the wicked.
---Josef on 10/11/13

When you are armed with all truths, you will know that torment is not all about fire but about watching as others make it in and you are bound for a place you thought did not exist, along with the other unbelievers and hypocrites, Pray that your name is written in the lambs book of life, it's a fine line between getting there and wide, wide, wide, road to not getting there at all!
---Carla on 10/10/13

hell is real and its hot. the worm dieth not and the torment will last for eternity.
---shira4368 on 10/10/13

Someone has suggested that the fire of hell is the fire of God's love which the reprobate refused to receive in this life, so they experience it in the next life as torment.

Glory to Jesus Christ!

Revelation is a great mystery to me, but this question led me somehow to realize that the less selfish we are, the less we feel pain, physical and emotional, than if we are selfish. I am excited about studying and experiencing this "revelation."
