Hello, all tonight, the Lord just blessed me,yes, still bad pain,bk yatta yatta..it is true the word tells us not to.forget to worship/assemble our selves, went to a little mission, mostly homeless & other people who are ill,yet striving.
For they really take time & they PRAY and nobody put no.one down,it remind me of my grandmother mission when a little girl. They give out clothes, food to.the poor and No.blingbling, songs are very like down.home christian.music or gospel. Saw some old friends who also.pray.in coffeehouses exciting!
Thankyou all.for your prayers! Love of Jesus!

Our church is small so income is small. We have a mix of people who tithe using envelopes opened by church treasurer, others place cash in a collection plate. Some give extra when the church has needs. All is optional and mostly private.

We have no Sunday School but have a weekly outreach in the village with children and take them on two trips a year to which they do not, personally, have to contribute. If we can stimulate the children enough we WILL start a Sunday School. Members and adherents will give generously to start that if/when it starts. Much prayer needed.

Note that while nearly 4 mos have passed, Steveng has never told us how much his worldly denominational church gives to the poor.

Just a reminder:

Jesus NEVER said that the Temple or synagogues should sell their holdings to give to the poor.

But He DID say that INDIVIDUALS should sell their belongings to give to the poor. Has Steveng done that?

Glory to Jesus Christ!

rita, sounds like your church is a beacon for your community. I love hearing things like you posted. all churches could follow that lead.

The income of our church pays a pastor, gives quite a lot of support to 2 schools in a deprived area of town, provides a youth club for the children of those same schools (those prepared to attend) and keeps up with the large maintenance costs of our building. I know nothing about the percentages but know we have a huge bill to pay for a roof repair.

Steveng...With what church are you affiliated? You seem to be very concerned about what other churches are doing with their money.

\\You have continued to demand over and over that Steveng tell how much his church gives to the poor.\\

Aside from the fact that Orthodox is neither worldly NOR a denomination, Steveng is the one asking attack questions, not I.

I just expecting him to be able to answer his own question.

Glory to Jesus Christ!

I know you're ignorant of Orthodoxy, Jed, (as well as many other things) but to mention just one such, there's International Orthodox Christian Charities. ---Cluny on 12/6/13

You didn't answer the question. You have continued to demand over and over that Steveng tell how much his church gives to the poor. Why are you unable to answer the question for your own worldy denomination?

\\How much does your worldly denomination give, Cluny? So I guess you think it's government's job and not the Church's to help the needy then?

Steveng, when are you going to tell us how much your worldly denominational church gives to the poor?

The Church, either in the largest or local sense, is NOT a social service agency.

Glory to Jesus Christ!

Good church/denominational management requires an annual budget. You have fixed and variable expenses that must be paid first including contingency funds. What you have left is what is available for programs and missions.

This is a very simplistic explanation but it illustrates how things work.

The Seventh day Adventist church helps the poor in three ways. Personal actions by members. Individual Church projects and Disaster Relief as a body. We also have the ADRA agency which is a permanent wing of our church which only helps those in need by many different projects. They helped with about 44 million dollars. Last year.

How about how much of YOUR denominational church's income goes to the poor, Steveng? (And your church IS denominational whether you admit it or not.)

I know that our church barely meets the bills, according to the weekly financial report. The priest and his wife are supported by his pension from his first career as an engineer, supplemented by his work as a hospital chaplain.

Tell us about the expenses of your OWN denominational church before you aim attack questions at others.

Glory to Jesus Christ!

33% is salary
33% is operations-equipment, furniture, buildings, created resources (which are free and online)
33% is expansion of our church, expand other churchs and giving.
