Until recently our church had a Youth Club on a week night but no Sunday School. We now have 5 children from the Youth Club attending Sunday morning so have started a Sunday school. There must always be two adults present to prevent the accusations of abuse. This is common in UK. There has to be a third (floater) in case one of the others needs to use the toilet. Children must be old enough to go to the toilet alone so we take no-one under five.

These rules are to protect children but mean that fewer people volunteer now because of the stigma which would follow a person through life if falsely accused. How sad that things are so bad now that each of us are considered potential abusers.

Elena, these people are very poor. The wife has something like Down's syndrome but it's not that it's she isn't right but she loves everyone. She is super sweet and some Sundays she will go to the altar and I believe when a person goes to altar means they have humbled themselves to go. She goes to pray for her husband.

elena, this guy had a sexual encounter with a girl who was 17. he was 30. she also has a bad reputation in the small town they live. you are right, if we knew some of the things close to us we would cringe. I still say parents should watch their kids in church. in this case the kids are not threatened. I know a guy who was exactly like the one at my church. the guy had her and she wanted to get married and he said no so she turned him in for rape. my son was a police officer and a woman started sending him emails. he had 20 pages of emails but she went to sheriff's office and accused him of rape. if he had not had all the emails, he would be in prison. cont.....

Hello, Shira4368, you drive home a really good point! The truth of the matter is this guy you mention well, truth be known..people know he has a past as a child molester. I bet there are folks gulty as SIN in that church, secretly..yet, no one knows! But Jesus watching...
The other part is in some states like
mine.He has to.be allowed church but be under supervision. A service wrkr.like an parol officer will also be present there to make certain his comings & goings church hours.
He would probably made to leave not as the crowd disperce. He will be watched.
Periodically, he will be watched. While on church premises.
Well,maybe things have changed.
Cut bk on funds, ect..
Love of Jesus!

Shira, I agree that the church is for sinners and this man was a sinner. I wonder what drew him to church though. Had he first see the minister privately and been counselled? Did he claim to be repentant? He might have joined a church to have easy access to children - who knows. Were people assigned to never take their eyes off him? If he had ever caused harm to a little one there the church would be blamed and the press would tear them apart.

Many things have to be weighed up and the pastor needed wisdom to make a decision. That's a tough role.
---Rita_H on 4/9/14

rita, I know a church close to where I live that wouldn't let a sexual preditor come to their church. the pastor said he was protecting the children. to me that is wrong as anything. parents should be watching their kids at church. parents can't always watch their children but church should be the first place a sinner needs to go. the preditors wife still goes there. what really bothers me is the people of that church should minister to him instead of banning him from church.
---shira4368 on 4/8/14

I'm guessing that sexual predators will be mingling in many different places of employment. If a bank clerk, a street cleaner, a store assistant were caught molesting children they'd appear in court and in the newspapers and be dealt with but if a vicar, methodist minister, bishop etc. were caught the same way their case would be broadcast on national T.V.

They are in a very trusted position and must be made an example of but, because more is made of their cases, than the others, the impression is left that there are more within the churches doing this than in other occupations. This brings their decent colleagues into disrepute also. That is truly sad.

Family, let me say you be SURPRIZED If you knew who and what type CAN and ARE sexual preditors (actually CAN Be the MOST trusted one in the community) sadly!!

I have known a guy who WAS thought of Upstanding person!!

Nobody would have believed it! I caught him really like " looking too, much at a six year old" he made the comment," she is sexy! " I reported him. 1Jhn.4:1,3.

Pr.5:21,22,23

Of coarse no one believed me.
He decided to leave the area.

Later he got caught fondling a young teen age boy! who he told came bk to school Glad he' incarcerated.

willie I was not laughing at you but I was laughing with you. what you said was just funny. hope you took it the way I mean it.
---shira4368 on 1/11/14

willie, you are so funny. everyone needs to work collectively to keep our children safe. we have a lady in our church who's husband is in prison for sexual abuse on a child. he spent 9 yrs and got out on parole but in less than a month, he is back in prison. If I were his wife, I would say adios, bye, get gone. she stuck by him thru 9 yrs of prison and she is still standing by him. what a miserable way for a sweet lady to live. my pastor will not ever be alone with a woman in our church or the children in our church because he knows he can be accused of evil. His wife is with him always if other women or children are around. all pastors should adopt that rule. He is protecting himself from evil accusations.
---shira4368 on 1/9/14

Family, the church' I used to go to the Pastor sure did look out for children he'very good about "smelling out" who was a sexual.preditor " & GET RID of them. God bless him!

We had a little girl, heaven knows!
5 yrs.old evening, she ran out the church..me & him,we both SCREAM where are you going??
Pastor ran on out & got her!
She said " he's my boyfriend!"

A guy about 40 at least years old.. he took off! Fast!!! In his car.It was horrifying! We couldn't get the license plate. He never came bk NO MORE!!

the mother said to us." you both are liars!" She quit coming eventually..

Stan, the percentage of priests ACCUSED of molesting children is 3. This is not those found guilty, but merely accused.

The percentage of public school teachers who are either found guilty of molesting children or who resigned or were dismissed is 5-6%

Your question should really ask what public school systems are doing to protect children from predatory teachers.

Glory to jesus Christ!

"A sax crime as opposed to a clarinet or trumpet crime?"

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

If I played a saxophone, that would be a sax crime (c:

Calling the police after the fact is not really preventing.

One problem is how religious people can't tell the difference between a pastor ministering God's love, and a predator of Satan's evil spirit. In order to ordain deacons, Peter told "the disciples" to select men they knew were "full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom" > Acts 6:1-7. So, even the everyday Christians could be expected to tell the difference between someone qualified and not qualified.

So, if you can't tell the difference, this is not Satan's fault or a predator's fault. !

I have, they all say the opposite actually. Most sexual abuse is perpetrated by the boyfriend of unmarried single mothers. And I have given my sources on other threads in the past when you made this claim. Of course, as usual, you gave no sources.

Why don't you give sources that say that marriage is the cure for pedophilia?

Because I never made that claim!

Let the priest marry and the problem will vertically vanish.---Blogger9211on 12/6/13

Vertically is funny. But if you meant virtually, you have mistaken rape. We call it a sax crime, but it has very little to do with sax that God created. It is about perversion and power and abuse of what is good.

Adding a wife to the mix will only give the perpetrator a thicker veil to hide behind.

First and foremost, isn't the protection of children the duty of their parent? Why even depend on the Vatican to protect them? Aren't these "priests" also sinners like everyone else or are they supposed to be holy and blameless?

Same thing Protestant churches can do to protect children from sexually abusive clergy and schools can do to protect children from sexually abusive teachers.

The rate of sexually abusive teachers is actually twice as high as priests, but nobody seems to say much about it.

BTW, most male pedophiles have wives.

Glory to Jesus Christ!
---Cluny on 12/6/13

Any church, Catholic or Protestant, should call the police when reports of sexual abuse is reported. Let the police arrest the offender.

What has happened in all types of churches, not just the Catholic church, is that the there are cover-ups. It's happened in major universities as well.
