Mark
It's not that we don't believe what's written in the bible, we just don't believe much of what's written needs to be interpreted by men. And we let the word of God, speak for itself.

When God said, "Do not kill", we believe God meant "Do not kill".
When God said, "Do not steal", we believe God meant "Do not steal".

When Jesus says, "Everyone who sin is a slave of sin", we believe he meant "Everyone who sins is a slave of sin."
When Jesus said, "A wise man will do what I tell him to do", we believe it would be wise for us to obey the commandments we receive from Jesus, through Gods Holy Spirit.
---David on 1/10/14

Elder, again, you are very dishonest. You also teach a false doctrine. A doctrine of man works, not of God. And because the word Sovereign is not in the Bible, you oppose His sovereignty. I suppose since the word Trinity is not in the Bible you must oppose that too. You say,"
1. You can't answer anyone kindly."
When I answered you I never spoke about your wife as you did to me, just to insult me. And you show no shame because you deny you ever did. Then say," You reject the Old Testament passages about freewill"
No one in the Old or new Testament has a will that is free. Only God has a will that is free. Everyone has a reason for choosing, if their will was free they would not know what to chose.
---Mark_V. on 1/10/14

Elder 2: you say,
"Why don't you respond Christlike to people. People respond to you like that and you slam them, call them names and say ungodly things about them. Then you expect respect like you are somebody."
You do not have to respect me or love me. It should already be in you. Instead you spoke about my own life with my wife, because you did not like for me to say that it is God who has mercy on sinners. If God does not intervenes they will continue to hell.
And I tell you that guilty people cannot talk their way out of heading to hell. We are saved by the Grace of God through faith. Not by any actions sinful man makes.
You should be teaching the truth. That salvation with man is impossible.
---Mark_V. on 1/10/14

"Shira, did you ever stop to think about the people you join hands with? Here you support barb, who does not believe in the Word of God (Scripture). Opposes the books in the Bible. you on the other hand reject most of the Bible also."
Mark_V. on 1/9/14

Luke 15:20 "And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him."
Mark_V. acts like the elder son in the parable. The same behavior Jesus received, Mark 2:16 "And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?"
---Nana on 1/9/14

markv, I join hands with Christians. the ones I join hands with chose to accept Christ as their Savior. I do believe every single word in the bible. (EVERY SINGLE WORD). I accept Christ at the age of 14. I can take you to the place where the Lord saved me. I don't have to wait til Jesus return to know if I am saved or not. I know it now. what does barb have to do with anything Ive said. you are grasping straws now. I stand with all who accept Christ and I am foes to those who preach a false doctrine like you.
---shira4368 on 1/9/14

"if you want my answer, don't insult me or speak about my family, and I will answer kindly."
MarkV.

MarkV there is three things you can't do,
1. You can't answer anyone kindly
2. You can't show where I spoke about your family. I repeated what you said.
3. You can't show Shirl or anyone where the New Testament says God is Sovern. You reject the Old Testament passages about freewill so you must also reject it about God being Sovern.

Why don't you respond Christlike to people. People respond to you like that and you slam them, call them names and say ungodly things about them. Then you expect respect like you are somebody.

By the way I didn't say anything to you to start with.
---Elder on 1/9/14

Mark_V://You were not called by God unto salvation.// Shira is correct. It is you that is preaching lies. The Lord said in Matt.9:13,"But go ye and learn ...: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance". Your statement in // // above contradicts the word of the Lord. I did not call you Anti-Christ without reason.
---Adetunji on 1/9/14

Elder, if you want my answer, don't insult me or speak about my family, and I will answer kindly. You said,
"Now wait a minute Mark teaches we dont have a will." I never said a person does not have a will. What I said is that our will is never free. It always has a purpose or motive for choosing. At least be an honest pastor. Then say,
" He teaches we cant be Saved unless God chooses us." The Bible says that you were heading to hell condemned already (John 3:18,19) for breaking the law, with no hope and without Christ (Eph. 2:12). But God because of His love for you, He had mercy on you (Eph. 2:4) He saved you by His grace. Yet He does not do it for everyone.
So does He have to choose you? Of course.
---Mark_V. on 1/9/14

Shira, of course the subject that God is Sovereign in the saving of individuals nauseates you. It nauseates every single person who believe they are saved by their own free will and God cannot interfere with their lives unless you give Him permission. You preach a false god, as you continue to tell everyone that the Bible is false, that what is written in it is a lie, that what Jesus said was a lie, that is your choice but remember, you were called to do that.
You were not called by God unto salvation. Your allegiance with someone who doesn't believe in the Word of God (Scripture) is a good indication what kind of salvation you now have.
---Mark_V. on 1/9/14

Mark
There are very few people, who believe what I teach.
I teach that "Everyone who sins is a slave to sin".
I teach that "Everyone born of God does not sin, and they can not sin, because they have been born of the seed of God."
It's not me they don't believe, it's the written word of God.

If people reject my teachings, which were clearly taught by Jesus Christ, they are not only rejecting me, they reject the teachings of Jesus Christ.

If you were a child reading the bible for the first time, it would read as it is written.
Mark, you must come to Jesus as a child, and then you will learn the Truth. One step at a time my friend.
---David on 1/9/14

Shira, did you ever stop to think about the people you join hands with? Here you support barb, who does not believe in the Word of God (Scripture). Opposes the books in the Bible. you on the other hand reject most of the Bible also. So you guys have something very big in common. The rejection of Scripture. And you say most on Christianet know what I teach, of course, I answer everyday for the Lord. Always giving the glory to God never to sinful men.
---Mark_V. on 1/9/14

David maybe you, Barb or Shirl or someone can answer this.

MarkV said, "when you sin, you sin willfully, no one has a gun to your head.
What I am saying is that those who are slaves to sin, are those without Christ, they need to be set free from the bondage of the law of sin."
MarkV

Now wait a minute Mark teaches we dont have a will. He teaches we cant be Saved unless God chooses us.

So, how come, now, he can come out with these statements? I just wonder which way does he really think it is?

Does this sound like a confused person to you or not? When the doctrine changes as the debate changes, does it show the person holds to no solid truthful doctrine to begin with?
---Elder on 1/9/14

thank you barb, I knew I wasn't the only one who felt that way. markv takes so many scriptures out of context. everything he says is out of context. everyone on christianet know it, you know it, and I know it. the only one who does not know it is markv himself. the only subject he talks about is the "elect". actually Ive heard that word until it makes me nauseated. he knows nothing else except that. I don't dislike him as a person but his doctrine is disgusting.
---shira4368 on 1/8/14

Shira, well said. I agree.
---barb on 1/8/14

I do believe christianet is a web site that belongs to markv. he is preaching his false religion to the world here on christianet. he is sure using it for his agenda.
---shira4368 on 1/8/14

David, my teachings are biblical, you just don't understand. You say,
"In (1 John 3:5) it tells us Jesus was sent to take away sin.
And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin."

Here is the Truth,
"in Him there is no sin" refers to, the Spirit of Christ, who has no sin. It does not say only David has no sin. Your flesh will die because of sin.
Sins of Omission and sins of commission are still sin.
"For all come short of the glory of God" meaning all human beings. If you were perfect as you claim, the passage would be lying. It would say, "all come short of the glory of God except for David" Sorry, you've been deceived.
---Mark_V. on 1/8/14

You see there is a sin of omission and a sin of commission. Mark V

Mark
(1 John 3:9-10) tells us how we know if we are saved, it's our sign.
And (1 John 3:4)KJV tells us which sin the Chapter is referring to. It says "Sin is the breaking of the Law", the sin of commission. Jesus confirms this in (Matthew 5:21-30).

The sin of commission tells us we do not belong to God.
Mark, trust in the teachings of Jesus Christ, not in the teachings of men.
---David on 1/8/14

David, you are teaching something that is false. I am not trying to kill you, your words bring death. Not to me but to you. I do believe in the Word of God. You just don't have the truth in you. You have been deceived by your denomination. If you defended the Truth, you would know you are a sinner saved by Grace if you are saved. But you believe you are sinless, and only Christ was sinless. No one alive is sinless, for no one has been glorified to this day. So long as you live in your body of flesh, you will sin. When it dies, you will stop sinning. Pray that God reveals His truth to you, so that you can understand it. Only God can do that.
---Mark_V. on 1/8/14

Mark
In (1 John 3:5) it tells us Jesus was sent to take away sin.
And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.

In (Hebrew 10:4) it says the blood of bulls and goats could not "Take away" sin.
Many believe the words "take away" mean "forgiveness of sin", but when we read (Leviticus 4:20) we can see the bull sacrifice did give forgiveness of sin.

If the words "Take Away" don't mean forgiveness, what do they mean?
Mark, I am trying to teach you something to save your life, so please don't kill the messenger. Sometimes I must shock people with Truth to wake them up.
---David on 1/7/14

David, you do not see your own sin. You see there is a sin of omission and a sin of commission. In the flesh you will always sin. The very first time I heard you say you were sinless, I knew at that moment you were not saved at all. You see you gave yourself away, for
"If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the Truth is not in us" Right there I knew you do not have saving faith. If you did, you would admit you are a sinner saved by the Grace of God. And because you will not admit you are a sinner God says,
"If we say we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us" His word is not in you David. Sorry, but when you sin, you sin willfully, no one has a gun to your head.

Mark
If you are a slave to sin, you have an excuse for your sin. But you say you are not a slave of sin.
(Hebrews 10: 26-27) says your sin is done wilfully and you are condemned already.

Which is better, to be a slave of sin, or to sin wilfully? The choice is yours my friend, believe what Jesus taught in (John 8:34) or be condemned already.
---David on 1/6/14

David, you are a sinner, and will be, until you die. Then you will stop sinning. Here to argue you asked,
"Mark
So you're telling us that those who sin are spiritual slaves of sin?"
No, I am not saying that. What I am saying is that those who are slaves to sin, are those without Christ, they need to be set free from the bondage of the law of sin. "There is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus"
Then say, "Since you claim to be born of Gods Holy Spirit, and he is your master, you can not be a spiritual slave of sin." That is right.
Then say," So, why do you sin???" because the flesh has not been redeemed. We will be glorified at the Second Coming.
---Mark_V. on 1/6/14

(John 8:34,35) is not talking about sons and slaves, they are sons, already saved, and those who are spiritually slaves to sin, not saved yet.---Mark_V. on 1/4/14

Mark
So you're telling us that those who sin are spiritual slaves of sin?
Since you claim to be born of Gods Holy Spirit, and he is your master, you can not be a spiritual slave of sin.

So, why do you sin???
---David on 1/5/14

David, what you make up is your interpretation of the passages. The same John who wrote (1 John 1:8,9) wrote (1 John 3:8-10) your interpretation contradicts his passages in (1 John 1:8-10). He even mentions to the brethren in (v. 2:1,2) so that they do not sin, but if they do sin, they have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous, who is the propitiation for our sins. In Christ there is no darkness and He comes to live in you, but in the flesh there is darkness, that why the passage in (1:6) says,
"If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness we lie, and "do not practice the Truth" We practice not to sin when we practice the Truth.
---Mark_V. on 1/5/14

David, you better learn to read the passages correctly. (John 8:34,35) is not talking about sons and slaves, they are sons, already saved, and those who are spiritually slaves to sin, not saved yet. Jesus was going to set them free from the bondage of sin. Those who commit sin without Christ are slaves of sin. Jesus said,
"Therefore if the Son (Jesus Christ) makes you free, you shall be free indeed" (John 8:35).
But you are saying is that God adopts you, to later find out He was cheated, He got a foster child. And you have to go back from where He got you from. Stop trying to deceive others as you have been deceived. Remember, "If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the Truth is not in us"
---Mark_V. on 1/4/14

(1 John 3:8)
He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

Folks
This verse speaks for itself.
Jesus Christ sets us free by destroying the works of the devil, that work being the evil he has sown into your hearts.

How do we know this work has been destroyed? (1 John 3:9-10)
Those who have been born of God do not sin. This is how we know we have been born of God.

Read it for yourself, and you will see, I didn't make this up.

"Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body" (Rom. 8:23) -MarkV

Mark
What's the difference between a foster child and someone who has been adopted living in the same home?
The one who has been Adopted has been made a permanent member of the family, but the Foster child is not yet a permanent member of the family.

In (John 8:34-35) notice both the the sons and the slave are in the same house. The slave is much like a foster child, a member of the family waiting for their adoption as a Son of God. The Sons are those who have been adopted.
---David on 1/3/14

Samuel
Some Christians sin, I never meant to imply they didn't.
In (1 John 2) there are three stages of Christian mentioned, Little children, Young men and Father.

Notice in (1 John 2:1) the little children are warned against sin.
Now look at down at (1 John 2:14), and notice that the young men are praised because they have overcome the wicked one.
If you sin, do the evil satan wants you to do, have you overcome the wicked one?

Many make the mistake of positioning those they respect, or themselves, as the measure of righteousness. They assume that if they have not experienced it, it's not true.
Jesus came, not only as a sacrifice for the forgiveness of sin, but also to remove that which causes our sin.

David, nothing I say will satisfy you. In your mind you are perfect. You say,
if you are, using Jesus as your example, you must believe he was a sinner saved by Grace too. Is this what you believe?"
Jesus, saved by Grace you say? Jesus is God David, He is the One who saves those who are heading to hell. Like you and I. But you have been deceived. Not by God, but by someone else. In the Spirit you are sinless, but not in the flesh. We who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, we wait for the redemption of our bodies,
"Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body" (Rom. 8:23)

If God is your master you do not want to sin, but as you say, you sin from time to time.
Do you want to sin from time to time? If you do not want to sin from time to time, and Jesus has set you free from the bondage of sin, why do you sin?

Easy questions to answer, but to be answered Truthfully, you must be honest with yourself.

I believe a Son of God "can not" and "does not" sin, and I am a Son of God and I can not and do not sin. David

Well John the Apostle disagrees with you David.

1Jo 2:1
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

Read the first chapter and all the Second chapter.

Here it is written that Christians can sin. In fact to claim that we have no sin in us is wrong. First John 1:8

I know many in churches today put down following GOD's commandments which we are to do. I support living a righteous life and I am sure MarkV does also.

I do not support that we cannot sin.

Mark
I tried the best I could to answer your question, but you don't understand the meaning of the words "can not" and "Do not".
I believe the reason for this is because you "can", and "do" sin, and you have set yourself up, as an example of a Son of God who sins.

I use Jesus Christ as my example and I believe a Son of God "can not" and "does not" sin, and I am a Son of God and I can not and do not sin.

If you are, using Jesus as your example, you must believe he was a sinner saved by Grace too. Is this what you believe?
---David on 1/2/14

David, I did go back and read what you said on 12/27, and with that information, I now know you are one of those that has been deceived, because you do not have the Truth. That is so sad. I was hoping you were a brother in Christ.
You did claim you do not sin. In fact, by saying you are without sin, you are claiming you have been glorified.
So it's hardly useful for me to discuss salvation with someone who does not have the Truth and even more calls God a liar. I am sorry you are in that condition, here I thought I was talking to someone who was saved. you are sinning right now by lying. Don't you see how ridiculous your statements are?
---Mark_V. on 1/2/14

David, again you did not answer my questions. Are you a sinner? Is the Truth in you? you say you are telling us the Truth, and can proof it, so please tell us the Truth? Because the passage says,
"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the Truth is not in us"
Have been deceived? Because if you say you do not sin, you are deceived and the Truth is not in you. What's it going to be? Waiting for your answer. Is there a sin you hide all the time as you ask others? How about telling the Truth? Do not continue to avoid answering.
I myself am a sinner saved by the Grace of God. Are you a sinner? Is there sin within you like Paul? You also did not respond to my answer of (Rom. 7:14-25) what's up with that?
---Mark_V. on 1/1/14

Folks
We can argue about scripture and get nowhere, or I can prove to you that I am telling you the Truth.

I have never met any of you, and yet I know there is one sin in your life, right now, that keeps you from being righteous.
That one sin, keeps you as it's slave. It's that one sin, which you try with all your might, not to commit, and yet you do it over and over and over again.

Many of you have never told anyone about this sin, so how can I possibly know this about you?

FYI, Through the Holy Spirit, you have been given the power to overcome that sin. That power is "LOVE" (Romans 5:5-6).

In traditional Christian moral theology, this is called a "besetting sin".
But most Evangelical Christianity is weak in moral theology ---Cluny on 12/30/13

Cluny
I agree, and thank you for your input.
It's important that a man recognize this sin, and Paul tells us why in (Romans 7:7-12).
Most miss the fact that Paul does not use the word commandments (Plural) but he says commandment (Singular) as he identifies this sin in the passage.

Everyone who has come to Christ for their Salvation identifies with this passage, but many refuse to recognize they are a slave, because this would mean they are not yet saved.

They believe Jesus is the Son of God, and that alone saves them.

---David on 12/31/13

David, you avoided answering my questions. Do you sin? Are you calling God a liar?
Then say:
"Ask yourself this question, "If I am not a slave of sin, why do I sin?"
Why not answer your own question? Why do you still sin?
Then you misinterpret (Rom. 7:1-25). Paul was already a believer in Christ when he made those comments about sin within him. He said,
"For I delight in the law of God according to the "inward man" But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. (v. 7:22,23) He says,
"So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin."

Why?
Because he is a slave to alcohol.

David, what you need to do is confess your sins. Because you are a sinner to the core, well maybe not as sinful as you could be, but you are sinful. The only reason you do not want to answer the question is because you know you sin, and will sin until you die. If you do claim you do not sin, then I know the truth is not in you and plus you call God a liar. Which is worse. Take your pick, admit you are a sinner, or stand there and tell us you are calling God a liar.

(2 Corinthians 11:14-15) And no marvel, for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works.

If you folks want to believe God is your master and do the work of the devil, I can not stop you from this, I can only warn you.
If works plays a role in your end, isn't it logical that works will play a role in life? Paul seemed to think so (Romans 2:6-7).

You folks really need to read the 90% of the bible your teachers avoid teaching you.

I John 3 is talking about love. That is the seed that remains in us. Everyone commenting knows full well that you cannot have two masters, and, at the same time know that they do from time to time sin. That does not mean they have two masters. It simply means they must depend on what Christ did to have their sins forgiven.
---Karen on 12/29/13

Mark
I'm not an SDA and I answered your question, now please answer mine.
Where does the Bible say, a man can have two masters?

I ask this because you sin, and claim God as your master, when God does not command his servants to sin.
Since you do righteousness and unrighteousness, the only possible answer is you believe you have two masters. And I would like to know where this two master doctrine is taught in the Bible.

Mark, this is why we are taught a man can not have two masters. A man who sins is not serving God, therefore God can not be his master. When you sin, and claim you are born of Gods Holy Spirit, you are saying Gods Holy Spirit commands you to do evil.
This is called blasphemy the Holy Spirit.

There are three definitions of love in the Koine Greek, of Christ's time. First you have Eros love. This type of love is based mostly on emotions. The word, "erotica" comes from this word of Eros. Second you have Philo love. This is a type of love that means, "I'll love you as long as you love me." The third type of love is Agape love which means I'll love regardless of what you do. (Christ has this type of love, and Christians should have this type of love.)

I John 3:9 is referring to living in sin--Samuel

Samuel
The verse says, "Those born of God do Not sin, for they can not sin, because they have been born of God."

You "do not" and "can not" accept what the verse says, because you look at it through your doctrine. And since it doesn't say what you have been taught, you must mold it like a piece of clay and make it fit your doctrine.

There does arise a problem when you do this. You must then change all the verses which support the verse you have changed. (John 8:34 & 35), for example, confirms what the verse says. Jesus says there that those who sin are slaves of sin and they are not the Sons of God.

I John 3:9 is referring to living in sin. A continuous process.

Christians fall down get up fall down different places then get up.

Proverbs 24:16

For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.

Christians are to be overcomers. We are to be walking every day with JESUS overcoming sin by dying to self and living to JESUS.

Rom 6:12

Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

Rom 6:14

For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
---Samuelbb7 on 12/27/13

David, it is easy to put down passages, to avoid answering my questions. Are you without sin? are you telling me that no sin is in you? I was not talking about purifying yourself. I am talking about sin. Are you a sinless person? If you say you are the truth is not in you. And even worse
"if we say that we have not sinned, we make Him (Christ) a liar, and His Word is not in us" (1 John 1:10). So which is it? are you without sin? are you making God a liar? I will be waiting for your answers. Most SDA's don't like to answer those questions, but sure like to push the laws on everyone.

"if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us" -Mark_V

Mark
If those born of God do not sin, as taught in (1John 3:9), who do you think John was referring to in (1 John 1:8)?

If those born of God can not sin, he was obviously, talking to those who have not been born of God.
Mark, you sin, because you have not been born of God.
I can not sin, because I have been born of God. (1John 3:10) tells us this is the sign of our salvation.

Do you not know that when people, in sin, testify they have been born of Gods Holy Spirit, they blaspheme the Holy Spirit of God?
That's not good.

Yes there is sin in me. What GOD and I work on is not letting my wish to sin become a reality. Also my sins that I do commit is overeating a little to much of sugar products. Watching more TV than I should stuff like that.

But as an old song says we should work on being so close to JESUS there is no big change when we get to heaven.

Which means the HOLY SPIRIT works in me every day so that I die to self and am crucified with CHRIST so it is not I who lives but CHRIST in me.

Agape to all.

(1 Peter 1:22)
Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren

Mark
Notice Peter says, Ye "Have"(Past tense)purified your souls.
And how did they purify their souls?
By obeying the Truth.
---David on 12/26/13

David, you open yourself up to my questions because you tell me, "how do you serve God who is your master with your sin?"
Are you saying you have no sin? That you are perfect. That when the Bible says,
"if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us" it is wrong?
The Truth is in me, there is sin in me. How about you? If you are without sin the truth is not in you? Is the Truth in you?
Then you say,
"God wants everyone to be saved, but he doesn't save everyone. Why??"
I do not know what god you are talking about. My Master has been saving people from the beginning. Has not stopped. My God is God and He does what pleases Him, how about yours?
---Mark_V. on 12/26/13

Do you get it yet? We were created in Christ for good works. ---Mark_V

Mark
What I don't get, is how you can say God is your master, and then continue in your sin.
You seem to forget one major detail in your teachings, "A man can not serve two master."
If God is your master and he created you in Christ for good works, God also created you for sin.

Tell me, how do you serve God with your sin?

there are different kinds of love. the love of God can't be matched by no other love. then we have love for our spouse and also love for our children. then there is love for our neighbor and all are different. I once did a study of love but I can't find my notes and Im too old to remember them all. I just know I have all the love's I mentioned. God bless everyone and Merry "Christ" birthday.

Mark
You have loved many people in your life, but you love some more than others. Why??
God wants everyone to be saved, but he doesn't save everyone. Why??

Mark, wasn't the love you have for your wife greater on the day you were married, than it was on your first date?
Since it was greater, what caused your love for her to grow?

You dated others before your wife, and for some, the root of love sprouted, but why didn't you marry any of them?
---David on 12/25/13

David, you now say,
"You believe Gods love, the seed of his love, has no need to grow." Where did I ever say that David? Nowhere. You do not seem to understand the position of someone born of the Spirit. Let me help you,
"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them"
Do you get it yet? We were created in Christ for good works. This was prepared by God long ago before we were even born of the Spirit. We walk by the Spirit of the Law. We are not under the letter of the law, that brings condemnation. We are free from that law.
---Mark_V. on 12/25/13

Mark
God said, "If you love me you will keep my commandments".
Jesus said, "Those who love me will keep my commandments."

For many, because of men's teachings, this love which the Lord speaks of is called "Works" or "deeds". This label of "Works", which they falsely accuse Paul of teaching without another witness, prevents many from growing in the love of God.

You believe Gods love, the seed of his love, has no need to grow. If this is true, why doesn't God save everyone?
If what you say is true, why did God say, "Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated"? (Romans 9:13)

There is a lot more to love than 1Cor 13. The reason I say that is because you cannot define love only by God's love for us or our love for Him. Dumb animals that know nothing of God through the Word but love with all their might, their own kind but also many love across lines to love other species and humans. People who have never heard of God can love just deeply their own families, friends, etc as can people who know God. God's/Christs love is the greatest humankind has ever seen but that doesn't explain all the others I mentioned or exclude them from really loving.

This was all because of His love for us. So we love Him because He first loved us. Otherwise we would be doing the desires of the devil.
Mark_V.

Amen and true. Our love leads to love of GOD and others.

1Jo 2:9-11
He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.
---Samuelbb7 on 12/23/13

David, you got it backwards.
"We love Him because He first loved us" (1 John 4:19).
When we were lost we were at enmity against God. There was no love for God in our hearts. But God who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ. For by grace we have been saved and raised up together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
This was all because of His love for us. So we love Him because He first loved us. Otherwise we would be doing the desires of the devil.
---Mark_V. on 12/23/13

Why?
Because his love for us only enabled us to be saved. It's our love for him which will save us.

Mark V said: Monk, I believe the love spoken of in (1 Cor. 13) is the True Love, Jesus Christ.

Yes, that is what I said in the question. I asked people to explain why the definition of love should include anything more than 1 Cor: 13: and the sentence, "While I was yet in my sin, Christ died for me.

I already know 1 Cor:13. And the sentence obviously speaks out love.
---Monk_Brendan on 12/16/13

Monk, I believe the love spoken of in (1 Cor. 13) is the True Love, Jesus Christ. Nothing or no one is like Him. Love never fails, is longsuffering, kind, does not envy, does not parade itself, is not puffed up, does not behave rudely, does not seek His own, is not provoked, thinks no evil, does not rejoice in iniquity but rejoices in the Truth, Christ never fails. Without Love we are nothing. Really.
---Mark_V. on 12/16/13

GOD is the only one capable of GENUINE love (divine love is GRACIOUS,...FREE, nothing is expected in return). The HUMAN/earthly version of "love" is not given GRACIOUSLY, it is (whether we want to admit it or not) given IMPERIALISTICALLY (and supported by sex, etc.).
---faithforfaith on 12/16/13

I believe Love must be an ACTION in order to fully fill the definition. It is much more than a feeling or a claim

Brendan, Jesus' death was only one aspect of the Father's love for us. His complete love for us is in Jesus' life, death, and resurrection. Jesus lived, died, and overcame death (a condition that we forced).
---aka on 12/15/13

Monk Brendan although His laying down His life for us, and our laying down our lives for another, is the greatest show of love, love goes deeper than that. For it is His love that has afforded us an opportunity for life eternal. Therefore, In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent His Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins. And by this also was The Father's love revealed to us, considering the fact that He did send His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him.
---Josef on 12/15/13

There is always more to learn about love.

The Bible also says, "submitting to one another in the fear of God." (Ephesians 5:21) This shows how love has us relating personally with one another. 1 Corinthians 13 and "Christ died for me" does not bring this out.

Also > "There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love." (1 John 4:18) So, there is God's almighty power in this love, to cast fear out.

And God's ways are "past finding out," we have in Romans 11:33. This can help us realize that the ways of God's love will be "past finding out", in our ways of relating with one another (c:
