matt 24 Jesus speaks to His disciples, representing the nation of Israel, as to His second coming and their tribulation
---michael_e on 8/15/14

Luke, well said. Some folks on here like to make successful people out to be evil users and abusers and the poor to be pure, innocent victims of the rich. Reality is, the successful have no sins that the poor dont have also. From someone who has lived and known folks on both sides.
---Jed on 8/9/14

Dear Jed,
Pride is a part of almost everyone. It is sin, and everyone sins. Poor, rich, tall, small, fat or skinny. It is sin. I don't think we have to define who has pride. Everyone does in some sort of way. Agape
---Luke on 8/9/14

Success often leads to pride, and pride often leads to a sense of elitism and a contempt for others. This is common among celebrities and successful people in all walks of life, and (sadly) it's all too common in mega-minsters and televangelists as well.

---StrongAxe on 7/13/14

That statement is factually incorrect. The poor are just as prideful as the successful. In fact, their pride is often the reason for their poverty. Having grown up in extreme poverty throughout my childhood, I can assure you that the "poor" have as much, if not more, sense of elitism, superiority, and contempt for others than the rich. The poor often have contempt for the rich, the very people who dollars they are living off of.

Hello, Bro.Strongaxe, thankyou very good clear understanding of some super rich, famous, puffed up! folks

I thank God I am kept lowly humble.
one time had a man with money, he got me everything, but he died, it never made me feel superior to nobody.
we used to help pay poor people's rent. I thank God yes, I am now poor but if I had to belittle or hurt someone
to make my day...I rather not look in the mirror or never again expect anything but remorse with such ugly Attitude!! Thanks, again..
God is not mocked.we reap what we sew.

Hello,can't help- put my little"2cents"
on the table.I quit watch' Bro.Jimmy Swaggart
The day he talked so, evil on Tv.

back then I could see Tv). He belittle her, because she did not have much education, she didn't have a ministers licence, all that..he told her "she had better shut her mouth, she nothing more than an uneducated idiot, she knows nothing about the Bible..."
She wanted to share about God and things she learn and lived, loved about the scriptures.
That was the day I quit ever watching him.
Love of Jesus!

//But it is well known that Jimmy Swaggart has his own serious sexual problems. Some have same that he was even a victim of sexual abuse as a child, which would not be surprising.//

Cluny,
I do not know what "Some have same that" means. You also make mistakes, like everyone else. No one is perfect. Many people have had sexual problems. Even some when they were young. Making mistakes with Scripture is more important. Even that does not mean they have not change by now. Some haven't and some have. We just don't know. As I said, I do not like what Jimmy S. teaches, so I am not defending his teachings. I don't like him, but I do not speak against him. God will deal with him and everyone else when it's time. Agape
---Luke on 7/11/14

The true Believers and Followers of YAH (Almighty GOD) who are upright, faithful, obedient and live in Righteousness with both GOD and man and who love the Son of GOD with their whole hearts, (at least striving to!), they shall be rescued from the Global Judgment to come via the Rapture(s).
Most likely very, very few will be worthy to be a part of the Bride of Christ to be raptured.

Many WANT to be raptured, but only a comparatively few are really ready.

\\Well, that remark was made in 1904? That would be about ten years ago. Have you been corrected since ten years ago? Possibly, if JImmy was wrong then, he has grown and received correction, since then.\\

No, the remark was made in 2004.

But it is well known that Jimmy Swaggart has his own serious sexual problems. Some have same that he was even a victim of sexual abuse as a child, which would not be surprising.

And may I point out there's a big difference between forgiveness and restoration to public ministry?

Glory to Jesus Christ!

when people live they make mistakes. ALL PEOPLE MAKE MISTAKES. No one is perfect and our righteousness is as filthy rags.
---shira4368 on 7/5/14

Dear Com7,
I agree with you. Many great man have made mistakes, but have being corrected. Just because we say something many years back does not mean we have not changed since then. That is the life of a believer. We still make mistakes. If he is preaching the same thing now, then it is wrong. And many still are.
I don't know of one who has not made a mistake.
The best commentators make mistake. That is why I said to Strongaxe that we are all fallible, not just Jimmy S. I, for one, do not agree with many other things he says. I don't listen to him much anymore. Yes, he was wrong and never should have said what he did. Agape
---Luke on 7/5/14

Well, that remark was made in 1904? That would be about ten years ago. Have you been corrected since ten years ago? Possibly, if JImmy was wrong then, he has grown and received correction, since then. Why would we hold a person's reputation to what he did ten years ago . . . especially if we do not even know the person now??

Matthew 24:37 > "'But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.'"

Jesus then says they did not see the flood coming, but their attention was to their own lives. This warns me to be attentive first to God, always, not only about myself and my own life, but submitting to Him in His peace (Colossians 3:15) and loving any and all people (Matthew 5:46).
---com7fy8 on 7/4/14

Jed:

The remark was made on Sept. 12 2004. Google: swaggart kill. There are video clips of the incident in question on the top few sites listed.

If someone threatened to harm Swaggart, he should even forgive and love such a person. That is the Christian response. Not "kill him", even in jest.

Luke:

The very fact that people are fallible is a good reason why we should not rely on them as authorities without corroboration.
---StrongAxe on 7/4/14

StrongAxe, without having heard the quote in context, I imagine he was joking, or exaggerating. My preacher does that.
---Jed on 7/4/14

Jed:

You said: I once heard my mother say "I'm so mad I could kill her!" But I don't think she actually wanted to kill anyone. I also heard her once say "I'm so hungry I could eat a horse!" But, again, I don't think she actually could have eaten a horse.

What a mother says in a heated moment is one thing. What a preacher preaches from a pulpit in a prepared sermon is entirely different. We hold our leaders to higher standards. We will also be held accountable for every idle word. The entire audience applauded the "killing" comment. I guess NONE of them ever read the "love your enemies" part, or if they did, they must have preferred words of televangelists above those of Jesus.

Dear Strongaxe,
The example you gave of Jimmy Swaggart is a good example that every person fails. No matter who the person is. Some make very ridiculous statements for many reasons. Some are not saved to begin with, others were misled to believe something not true, others because they have an agenda to be more popular, others because they want more money, and most of all those who are doing the desires of their father the devil and do not even know it.
That is why as believers we should not put our faith in anyone but God. We should check what anyone says with the Word of God. So many times they are wrong. We should only put our faith in Christ, He is never wrong. Agape
---Luke on 7/4/14

He also once said in a sermon, "If one of them looks at me that way I'll kill him and tell God he's dead." - hardly a Christian attitude, as we're supposed to forgive our enemies. Who is SO bad that Jesus wants us to kill them instead? Nobody I know of. As such, I would feel dubious about relying on Swaggart as a scriptural authority.
---StrongAxe on 7/3/14

John 14:8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
Jhn 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip?
John 14:10 ...I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
John 14:28 ...I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.
Lawrence, taking verses out of context makes for blasphemous conclusions.
This Sabellian heresy has been rejected ever since it crept into the church.

From God. God kept His saving name & didnt reveal it until the appointed time, the angel told Mary to call His name Jesus. Yes Jesus Is The Father, John 14 v 9. And Jesus Is Lord & God, John 20 v 28. Even the Holy Ghost. Jesus has His Church Acts 2 v 38.

The only trinity I find in the Bible Is, the devil, the false prophet, & the antichrist. The devil has his churches, doctrines & commandments of men, the trinity in Rev. 17 vs 4 5 6.

What most do not understand is that the 24th chapter is Christ prophesying of the destruction of Jerusalem and the surrounding areas by the Romans.

Note verse:
Matt 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

A biblical generation is 40 years. Christ spoke these words around 30AD and Rome destroyed Jerusalem in 70AD.

\\Lawrence: How did Jesus Christ get His name?
---micha9344 on 7/1/14\\

My understanding is that the Hebrew name Yeshua (which gets anglicized as "Jesus") was brought down from heaven by the Archangel Gabriel. Read the account of the Annunciation in Luke 1.

Glory to Yeshua ha-Masiach.

Lawrence: How did Jesus Christ get His name?
---micha9344 on 7/1/14

The problem is Lawrence the Bible teaches a triune GOD and you have choose to not believe parts of the Bible to get only JESUS.

You have to believe that GOD split himself in parts. Why?

Because while JESUS was here on Earth as both GOD and man. The Father to who JESUS prayed was in heaven. So if they are only one entity then how can that work.

JESUS forces us to face a duality. Acts 2:38 is paraded as the only way of being baptized a true doctrine must accept all passages on that topic. Which means you must also accept.
Mat 28:19

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Must be included in all doctrines.

The same holds true for those who do not believe in our Triune God. And there is many of those. They cannot tell who God is, so how can they know about the Second Coming? Many who mock others will find out God never knew them. Agape
---Luke on 7/1/14

I agree with your points. But many in churches are doing the same thing and acting as if they have a whole life to get around to reading the Bible and doing what it says.
---Samuelbb7 on 6/30/14

The point that is being pointed out is the general populaces will be doing just like the people did pryer to the flood. Not believing Noah about the flood, and going about their "merry way". The same will be true when Christ returns - people will just ignore the warnings and go about their, "merry way" and not watching for the signs or being concerned about the return of Christ return.

Days of Noah. Noah said it was going to rain, nobody new what rain was or much less believed in it, or him. Cause before the flood it had never rained.
