AkaSam...am in the middle of a book you'd like. Isbn 0-8094-1509-7. The Ranchers. One chapter is about herd dogs. An excerpt: Joseph McCoy, 19th century chronicler. A shepherd will sigh to lose his friend, groan if family is lost, but if his sheepdog is lost his grief is overwhelming and anguish cannot be assuaged. (They suffered and worked closely together night and day)
Ruff, ruff.
Isa 40:1 Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.
Isa 40:11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: ...
Hos_4:16 ... now the LORD will feed them as a lamb in a large place.
Joh_21:15 .... He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.

Did you win any of the games?---Trav
Didn't play to win. In my searching and TRAVels, I learned to connect two sticks. Took me 40+ years to find my tube. 50 now.

Been looking into sheepdogs lately. Puli is the alarm and Sam is the enforcer. My beautiful bride has land that I am clearing. Maybe she can have livestock that she always wanted. I would love to get Sam but I think the puli may be more appropriate for kids. She has a beehive. Maybe I can plant an olive tree. most TN olive trees are ornamental, producing little to no fruit throughout their lifespans. Hoping this family tree does. Wife is cross stitching an olive tree with trunk big enough for 2 forefathers and 12/13 branches from 3 big branches and a never ending root system.

The verse below negates your theory, for me. Sheep found in both Testaments true enough. The object of search.....both testaments. "Seek" and or "Sheep" found 408 verses, 433 matches. Flock 99 times, flocks 77 times. Lamb 100, lambs 88, Ram 77, Ewe 3 times. Sheepfold once.

Joh_10:1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

We've all seen thieves and robbers climbing, by light of scripture, they are not carrying sheep or looking for one.

Yes Barb, the hirelings don't care about the well-being of the sheep. They only want to satisfy their appetites (fill their bellies) while pretending to be something they're not. They twist & misrepresent God's word to their advantage.

//believers (sheep) must constantly be in the Word of God (Scripture/Bible)//

John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in [the Old and New Testament], he shall be saved, and shall go in and out [of the Old and New Testament], and find pasture.

Do the same for John 10:16 for giggles.

The Truth and Witness contained of both, I can see. Christians constantly need to be in the Truth and go out and provide constant witness.

Chosen nation?
Matthew 21:43 "Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof."
John 15:4 "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine, no more can ye, except ye abide in me."
Romans 11:24 "For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree?"

The Church, the boC are not sheep.
Common image used in Christianity is the shepherd and the sheep based on John 10. Christ, the shepherd, and the church supposed to be sheep.
Paul says we are not sheep, but more than conquerors through Christ by the gospel of grace (Rom 8:36).
Sheep get lost. Conquerors don't, because they know who they are in Christ, and that nothing can separate us from our Head (Col 2:19).
Rom 8:37 Paul quotes Psalm 44:22 talking about sheep going to the slaughter.
For thy sake we are killed all the day long, we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Psalm 44:22
The author of Psalm 44 is crying out to God to intervene for deliverance of Israel from their enemies.

A sheepfold is a protective enclosure for sheep. In this case the Christian is the sheep. (Keep in mind Christ is only using the 'sheepfold' as an illustration,) Only the Christian can enter the "sheepfold" and expect protection. The only way a person can become a "sheep" and have legitimate access to the sheepfold is by accepting Christ as Savior. John 14:6 (KJV) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (The 'me' is Christ. A person cannot enter the "sheepfold as a Christian without first accepting Christ as Savor or the use the example of the 'to know Christ as the Shepherd who guard His 'sheep' that are in the 'sheepfold'

Yes a Jew must be Born Again just like a Gentile who was never under the Law of Moses in the first place. -Kathr4453

Exactly!!!

Kathryn
And this is why the parable is written to the Jews, those under the Law.
Will all of the sheep, in the sheepfold be saved? No.

Only the sheep, who follow the shepherd out of the sheepfold, will be saved.

Why will they be saved? Because they follow the shepherd into the pasture, to eat.
If the sheep in the sheepfold do not eat, will they not die?

When Jesus said to Peter, "Feed my Sheep", who were the sheep Peter needed to feed?
Why did he need to feed them?

9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

Those who look for "completion" outside of Christ have never entered in in the first place . They may have climbed over some other way, BUT We ENTER THROUGH THE VEIL, THAT IS TO SAY HIS FLESH......by being crucified with Christ baptized INTO His death and raised a new creature.

Dave: The "why" is so the the sheep will go give testimony to & bear witness of the Good news (Gospel) of the Good Shepherd (the Lord Jesus Christ).

The children of Abraham were born under the Law of Moses. They are also Gods children, and this is why they are represented by sheep in the parable.

The only way for them to be saved, is to be born again, to become Sons of God (John 8:34-35). And the only way for this to happen is through Jesus, Gods only begotten Son.

The Law came by Moses, but Grace and Truth, through Jesus Christ (John 1:17).
If those born under the Law shall to be saved, they shall be saved by Grace, and not by the works of the Law.

As Leon pointed out, this parable is revealed throughout Paul's letters.

The blood/Messiahship purifies the mortal flesh but it doesn't purify the CONSCIENCE, THE DIVINE/ETERNAL SPIRIT purifies the conscience THIS is COMPLETE SALVATION (Hebrews 9:14 RSV and Hebrews 7:25).

I believe Hebrews 9:14 say the complete opposite:

G2513 Purge means to CLEANSE or PURIFY.

Hebrews 9:14
How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Our FLESH is never purified, but CRUCIFIED with Christ and through the operation of this identification we died to sin.

The blood/Messiahship purifies the mortal flesh but it doesn't purify the CONSCIENCE, THE DIVINE/ETERNAL SPIRIT purifies the conscience THIS is COMPLETE SALVATION (Hebrews 9:14 RSV and Hebrews 7:25).

The sheep that don't have a clear conscience about the things they do have not "ENTERED BY THE DOOR" and they must be "shaken out of The Body.

John 10:1
"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber,

COMPLETE salvation has never been taught, understand this well.

And the Word of God is Jesus Christ, the WORD made Flesh.

Those IN CHRIST, the WORD are the sheepfold.

Those who are the children of Abraham BY FAITH and NOT the Law of Moses. Even in the OT the JUST shall live by FAITH. And as Paul clearly explains in Romans 4, the LAW did not annul the promises given to Abraham 400 years before the LAW of Moses. Even Paul believing himself to be BLAMELESS under the LAW counted it dung for the excellency and Knowledge of Knowing Christ Jesus. Philippians 3.

Abraham's seed and heirs according to Promise are those who have the Faith of Abraham.
---kathr4453 on 8/4/14

The Apostle Paul refers to the law in Romans 7. He referred to the Law of Moses, or the commands of God more generally, in the Old Testament. Paul loved the Law of Moses when it was seen as the law of God & not as that set of laws that were twisted by the Jews into something they were never meant to be.

In short, I believe you're saying the same as me, i.e., the sheepfold is the Word of God.

Thx for the explanation David.

Our protection comes from being Crucified with Christ and raised a New Creature. Only those who are Crucified with Christ are IN CHRIST, and only those IN Christ are protected. They are or have been exercised by God to know good from Evil through trials and testings. They can pick off false teachers a mile away. They know that being religious and reading scripture every minute is no surety for protection, but know the ONE and are "IN the ONE" who is our SURETY, Jesus Christ, where God is working in us to will and to do of His good pleasure.

They know that life nor death nor powers nor principalities ... NOT ANYTHING CAN SEPARATE US FROM THE LOVE OF GOD THAT IS IN CHRIST JESUS.

The gate/door that leads into the sheepfold is the same gate as the narrow gate. A thief can get in another way (John 10:1-2) but will not be allowed to stay there forever, only those who came in thru the door (Jesus) will remain in the fold forever, John 10:7, John 8:33-34.

The sheep are those who agree to keep the covenant of God's Kingdom and abide in the words of Jesus. They will be led out of the kingdom of the world by the Good Shepherd, John 10:3-5. The sheepfold is the Kingdom of the Heavens where Jesus reigns, the same Kingdom that He wants to lead us into. John 17:14-20, John 18:36-37.

The "sheepfold" that we should be making our goal is the Body of Christ that cannot be "shaken" (instead of the FALSE sheepfold that is still in darkness).

Hebrews 12:25. THE RSV tells about THE SHAKING that is necessary today because there is alot of dross in today's "church" (God calls His church "the heaven").

The verse says that God will shake "the heaven" so that what cannot be shaken will remain.

The other "sheep" mentioned in John will be shaken out (God says that He will judge between "sheep and sheep") and that those who climb in by another way are "thieves and robbers", (John 10:1).

Read IN THE RSV (the most clear understanding).
