..."Pastors should ALWAYS be prepared to enlarge on what they said from the pulpit and show, from the bible, why they say certain things."
---Rita_H on 9/11/14

If I may Ms. Rita, let me expand on that thought. I believe pastors must study, pray over God's word & listen for the Holy Spirit directions. In turn, he (by leading of the Holy Spirit) must speak the word of God to the flock.

Pastors get into trouble by thinking they must have a new revelation weekly to give to the flock. So, in error, many run ahead of the Lord & speak theirs, not God's mind...

If God doesn't give a pastor a new revelation, he should repeat the previous one until "he" & the flock gets & walk in it.

Rita, I also agree with what you said. What I do is become friendly with the pastors or preachers. And when the time is right I ask them about certain things I disagree with. If they cannot show me from the Bible, I know he is not preaching the truth. It's good to take notes when they are speaking. If I do not agree with their teaching, my wife and I walk away and try to find a good teaching Church. Right now, there is very few who teach the truth. They use a lot of music, and speak very spiritual, and if we are not alert, we miss their errors. Thanks for your answers, God bless, Agape

Luke I agree, about tares and wheat, and the 'convenient' church attendance which has no depth.

The bible knowledge of many who attend such churches is limited to memorizing appropriate verses just a 'prove a point' when necessary. Many cannot quote what came before or after that verse (which is sometimes necessary to understand correctly).

I have a 'Christian' friend who quotes the bible a lot but only as it has been said by her pastor. I've suggested that she ask him to explain certain things but she doesn't as "he is not to be challenged and what he says comes from God".

Pastors should ALWAYS be prepared to enlarge on what they said from the pulpit and show, from the bible, why they say certain things.

I believe that many members of churches today are not save at all. The church is mixed, tares with the wheat. Many go to church when they want, and when in need, they will do anything to get that need taken care of.
Some are sick, some have lost a love one, others have someone very sick, so they pray for an answer, and the preachers always seem like they are speaking to us. In the process they say if you have enough faith you should give to God so that God can answer your prayers. Many don't even read their Bibles so don't know when the preachers are deceiving them. They use music and a very good spiritual movements and yelling. And everyone gets pumped up. And the truth is never spoken.

I have been with groups while preachers were breathing in heavily and speaking loudly . . . possibly in their excitement about what they are saying of God's word.

Paul said "if we are beside ourselves, it is for God, or if we are of sound mind, it is for you," in 2 Corinthians 5:13. So, from this about Paul, I can see that a preacher in the Holy Spirit can be acting "crazy" and emotional, in his or her ecstasy about how great and beyond human God is.

But, "of course", if this can be true, there can be counterfeiting. And ones can have their way of finding only counterfeits, then saying the counterfeits prove there is no real thing . . . unless they find fake money (c:

"Why do some preachers practice snorting, screaming at and calling their congregations descriptively demeaning names?"
Either because that is the way they were trained, or they are simply emulating someone they admire or admired. I understand that It is called "hooping":o), and I have always associated that term with basketball:o)

Leon,
You are correct. Even now many churches not on TV are doing the same thing. They try to find out what will please the unbelievers and believers. They use tricks, much music, because the music is very powerful. Nothing is going to bring anyone to Christ. They have to be snapped by the Holy Spirit in order for them to even believe in Christ. The pastors were not called to entertain anyone but to preach the Truth, to who? to believers. They are the only ones who understand truth. Agape

You're welcome Luke. Actually, many of them probably didn't receive a higher education at all. Some may not even be born again believers & subsequently weren't called by God to be preachers of His word in the first place.

A number may be functionally illiterate in that their reading comprehension could be very deficient & , for the one's who aren't born again, they're simply not able to rightly divide the word of God by leading of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, what's left are many preachers who fill in the blanks due to his/her lack of understanding with dazzling theatrics (hooping & hollering) that's designed to entertain, control & manipulate the assembly of people.

Leon,
thanks for your explanation. I believe that most of the preachers who do those things, went to school at the same place. I read some where that the place was in Florida. Not all but most of them who have TV shows. The learn how to control the people, how to raise up their spirit with sounds of music, and once they get them where they want, they tell them nothing but lies and the people are so high already they believe what is taught. Those who have a great need give all they have. The preachers exploit the congregation, because almost everyone has some kind of need. They get rich on the pain of others. Their punishment will be worse I believe. agape

"Leon, what do you mean by "preachers snorting"? Can you give some kind of example? It would help to know what your question is asking? Agape"

Luke: I used the wrong word. These preachers speak very excitedly & after about 10-15 rapid fire words they "GASP" (in a convulsive catching of breath) before continuing on with their verbal bombardment. Hope that helps. :)

I have not experienced exactly what you describe but have seen 'similar' on so-called Christian T.V.

If I were in a congregation and witnessed what you describe I'd soon be out of there.

Some 'so-called' preachers are actually actors. They don't know God themselves so do not have a real message for anyone else.

They are business people and their business is in making money by fleecing their flock.

I have never experienced anything like that, and I am very grateful.

They and their congregations think this is preaching.
