"In a church I attended, I think there were as many men and women. And I think that in the Southern Baptist church there may be just as many men as women, because they are devoted to their faith. The mainstream churches seem to have more women . . . I think."
If women have tended to be brought up more in the house, they might be more comfortable with being in a house of worship. So, their being there could be for cultural reasons and not spiritual. There are cultural churches not spiritual. And ones can have a male image for a pastor and admire him . . . after being with men "who fall short of their expectations. It's kind of refreshing to be with someone you admire and look up to."

What do you mean by "church" Jasper?
---Leon on 9/28/14|
I certainly see your point there. I happen to believe that science proves God exists, The Bible even backs this belief up but that is a topic for another blog.
Anyway, men lead with their head and women lead with their heart. God made them that way. Not saying men have not heart, just have to take a different avenue to get to them.

Good points Darelene and Adetunji I agree with you.
Too often people only hear or listen to one side of a story. I do not advocate hearing the arguments of Atheists but if you do you should also hear the other side.
So yes warsick Evolution is just the best guess available. If there is no GOD.
Women can be more learned and they can be more blessed.
---Samuelbb7 on 9/27/14|
When talking about my Christian faith I regularly receive the comment that science has proven the Bible wrong, meaning it's not true so why be involved.
I have rarely received this type of a comment from a woman, almost always from a man. This suggests to me that women are less interested in so called 'scientific' things so such things are not a barrier to them accepting Christ.
It seems that the wholesale indoctrination in evolution which now occurs from pre-school on has more effect upon men than women for some reason.
I have seen quite a few men become Christians after they were shown that long-ages/evolution is an hypothesis, a belief, not a scientific fact.

I don't believe that the discussions have identified yet why women are more in church.
This is because (in my country) we also have more women supporting & patronising the pagan priests for charms & other things.
Even fake prophets have a lot of women patronage.
---Adetunji on 9/26/14|
Rita H many forget the fact there is only one man at a time who has legal authority over the woman. As a girl its her Dad and all her growing up years it's also her Mom. As a grown married woman the only man who has authority over her is her husband. That means that all those men who would like to claim authority over a married woman don't have it therefore she can't usurp authority from men who didn't have it to start with. Saying all men have authority over all women isn't true and not Biblical doctrine but only man's doctrine. Women respect their leaders in the church due to their position and honor them for that reason. God help the man who isn't my husband and tries to make me submit,my husband would set him straight right quick. God Bless

//A "SON" does not submit to a father/dad.\\-faithforfaith on 9/26/14
1Pet 5:5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all [of you] be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
--Someone has a corrupt and ungodly view of submission.
---micha9344 on 9/26/14|
There is no doubt that women who go to church are more learned and certainly get more blessed. That's just a fact of life you can't learn anything without being there and you won't be blessed without serving God and being in His presence. There's more women in church because men had rather indulge in sinful things and would have to give them up to serve God. God Bless

A "SON" does not submit to a father/dad.
...when are FORCED to do something, then we are SUBMITTING (we should not feel FORCED, but should worship/honor God....
Do you love/honor God WILLINGLY?.
If we choose to be devoted to a FATHER (Abba Father) instead of a MASTER, then we can be a son of God ("Abba Father" is the spirit of sonship, Romans 8:15).
We should not have a need to be COMMANDED/ordered to do right, we should be a "LOVER OF GOODNESS" and then we can be "master" of ourselves so that we can be who we are and truly relate to "I AM WHO I AM" (Exodus 3:14).
Verse is from the RSV.
---faithforfaith on 9/26/14|
Because God put in a woman to submit. Women are more likely to submit to God than men are.
Look at when Jesus died. The men went back to doing what they were doing before Christ called them. But the women were still waiting and watching for Christ. That scripture should give insight as to why. Not saying anything bad about men, just scriptural examples of an answer to the blog question.

Usurp means to take illegally or by force so, Carla, what do you mean by "it just means more women are usurping and most men are absconding !"
This makes no sense to me.
---Rita_H on 9/24/14|
In ancient Athens, Socrates taught about peaceful and just living (Do not do what is unjust). Centuries later, Paul spoke to the Athenians about their "UNKOWN god" (the Athenians didn't know the identity of their worshipful god of peace, truth, etc.). There is even a book at Amazon entitled "Paul, the new Socrates in Athens" (a female author also has recognized that this INTEGRITY is GOD's way).
1 Corin. 1:27 God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong,
Act 17:23 'To an unknown god'.
As the weaker sex, woman admire this kind of integrity and peace....AND understand a GENUINE humility towards a FATHER figure.
All verses are from the RSV.

No it means more men are going AWOL than women, but the differences is not in the women but in the narrow path. The number of people who does make it through will not be just women, it just means more women are usurping and most men are absconding !
If society aint serving God how can you judge women as more blessed????
---Carla on 9/23/14|
Rita_H: We have a broad based age range in church but the women are still more in number than men.
---Adetunji on 9/23/14|
Adetunji, I have attended Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian and Congregational churches over a long period of time and ALL of them here, in Britain, have FAR more women than men, some are exclusively women and most of them elderly.
I think that the reason for this is that (generally speaking) women live longer than men and only the older ones are now interested in attending churches of any denomination.
Our church has one 50 year old and, at 71, I'm the second youngest.
The charismatic churches tend to attract the young more than others do but even those are seeing a large drop in numbers of the young people.
---Rita_H on 9/23/14|
In the congregation where i join others to worship God ( Baptist), we have more women than men.
I do think this phenomenom is limited to type of denomination.
---Adetunji on 9/22/14|
Christianity can be generally characterized as FEMININE (the divine spirit is one of GENTLENESS and peaceful respect/lifestyle....contrite heart and mind). We are supposed to be living SPIRITUALLY inside of Jesus's body (the actual body that hung on the cross and is now IN HEAVEN) as a SPIRIT (and spirits in Christ have NO GENDER...."neither male nor female").
By nature, women have more ability to understand "spirit" (including HEAVENLY PEACE/lifestyle), but they are not more divinely oriented (we are all the same/one in Christ).
Jesus did not tell the woman that MY BLOOD will save you, He told the woman that her lifestyle/attitude had saved her ("Do not give to dogs...RSV).

Peter, I was speaking specifically about converts.
As one woman who converted to Orthodoxy, led by her husband, "I realized I was in for a wild, rough ride--and I was not in the driver's seat."
Glory to Jesus Christ!
---Cluny on 9/21/14|
Cluny: In both Greece and Cyprus, where the 'nominal' denomination is Orthodoxy, I see more women attending church than men.
I do not know whether the people who enter the Orthodox denomination from outside are more men than women, but I feel that within the Orthodox church the women are at least as active (except the priests, who are only men!)
---Peter on 9/21/14|
Orthodoxy seems to appeal more to men. More men tend to convert than women to it.
Glory to Jesus Christ!
---Cluny on 9/21/14|
Probably several reasons, but one reason is that Christianity and church are about submission, and females are by nature more submissive than males.
