I would put my scientific credentials up against your psychoanalytic ones any day.
---jerry6593 on 1/29/15

Agreeing with you in other areas. I like and respect your scientific background.
I would like to see it applied to 5.49 miles of "saline" water pressure exerted on every plant, grass, tree, shrub, insect etc, etc. I would like to see it applied to cubic footage required to house every known and unkown species on earth. And all the food for each variety of animal, and seven of the clean ones.
The "erets" not "tebel" was covered by water. Perhaps the lower or even higher mtns around Ararat. Global...will not compute even with your professed background. Dogmatically free the research...
---Trav on 1/29/15

Climate Change has been happening throughout history. Anyone who thinks it's only now needs to research and read the history of climate change. To begin with many area's were covered by ice,The "Ice Age" and those melted too and that was before modern mankind. There is also evidence there were Tropics in extreme Northern area which are now under ice. No one can give strong evidence of man causing the elements that are causing the melting of ice in the cold climates. The earth goes through cycles independent of anything which is done by man. It is more Political ploys than solid facts that humans are causing the problem. God Bless

Actually, the word subdue means to exercise dominion over. Nice try though just making up meanings to words. I like your style.
---Jed on 1/28/15

Kathr. Politics, and generous funding for scientists who conveniently follow the global warming cult, plays a big part in the global warming scare.

You're correct that no one element works independently of another. But this is often ignored by the global warming doomsayers.

Sadly we see so many with vested interests claiming with "absolute assuredness" that global warming is all man's doing? They are either delusional or pushing a hidden agenda.

Obama's a classic example of this deceit/delusion when he tried to hijack the G20 meeting here in Brisbane. He even made misleading claims about the state of our Great Barrier Reef to try to deceitfully justify his offensive warmist posturing here in Australia.
---Haz27 on 1/28/15

Kathr. Consider the book Climate Change: The Facts 2014. It refers to scientists such as:

Ian Plimer using the geological record to dismiss the view that man's emissions leads to catastrophe.

Patrick Michaels shows the contradictions of the IPCC predictions with real world temperature results.

Willie Soon on the Sun's role in Earth's climate.

Robert Carter on why the natural variability of the climate is far greater than any human component.

Jo Nova chronicles the extraordinary sums of public money awarded to climate change activists, in contrast to those who question their alarmist warnings

Donna Laframboise explains how activists have taken charge of the IPCC.

Etc, Etc....

---Haz27 on 1/29/15

kathr: "Jerry believes his credentials are superior to others, also scientists. I call this delusions of granduer. Many, like Jerry and Jed have been brainwashed to see this ONLY as political, and politics have blinded their common sense."

I would put my scientific credentials up against your psychoanalytic ones any day. Or is it that God has appointed you to read other's hearts?

Your adherence to a purely political dogma without the slightest knowledge of the science behind it, shows a cult-like following of your Communist heroes much as do those in Hollywood.

---jerry6593 on 1/29/15

The word subdue, is to be good stewards and treat the earth as God would treat it. Just like our bodies, of which we don't worship either.

My viewpoint is this, neither liberal or conservative. Our water, land and atmosphere all work together, and are all dependent on one another. No one element works independently of the other. The problem is, some men think they can answer with absolute assuredness, WHEN each and every day we are still learning new and different facts. Jerry believes his credentials are superior to others, also scientists. I call this delusions of granduer. Many, like Jerry and Jed have been brainwashed to see this ONLY as political, and politics have blinded their common sense.

I agree wholeheartedly. Without the help of God's Holy Spirit we could never reach the lost. Any attempt we make in and of ourselves, through our own skill or intelligence, will be in vain without the working of the Holy Spirit upon the recipient. Jesus saves, not I.

Awesome! The gospel is simply this: You are a sinner. The wages of sin is death and eternal separation from God. But God loved you so much that He created an opportunity for you to escape death and live in paradise with Him by sending His Son to die in your place. To accept this undeserved opportunity, all you have to do is believe and confess that this is true and ask God to forgive you of your sins and trust Jesus to be your Savior.

This is all done for you out of God's love for you. And if you truly believe it, your life will change and you will bear fruit of that change.
---Jed on 1/28/15

Kathr, do you know how many people have died because of man made climate change? I'm really excited to hear your answer. This ought to be rich.

I notice while you falsely attack "greedy" corporations and energy companies you continue to enjoy the services they provide. You are obviously using the internet and electricity as you read this message. And you undoubtedly use gasoline, roads, healthcare, buildings, and food that is grown with pesticides and fertilizers and transported with fuel. Why don't you lead by example and go back to a 12th century lifestyle?

BTW: do you know how many people would die without gas, oil, and electricity?
---Jed on 1/28/15

No Jerry does not worship Gaia. He just reads the Bible that says GOD owns the earth and we are placed here on earth as Stewards.

When we pollute destroy and damage the earth it is like crapping on the floor in your house. You do not have to worship your home to not want some one to use the floors in your house as a toilet. Or set off poisons in your home.

Agape.
---Samuelbb7 on 1/28/15

Jerry, so I guess poisoning our water, oceans etc is considered subduing?

Do you realize how many people have DIED because greedy corporations and our government have polluted our water and ground? My Nephew for one. Contaminated Army Bases. Hanover in the Northwest, polluting the ground and water supply. And you feel YOUR worshipping of the earth is more important than human lives? Jerry maybe one of YOUR own needs to get cancer from some polluted water, ground, or whatever. Then what will you say? And you say THIS doesn't happen? What a lie!

I don't worship the earth, as Heaven is my home, gives me no right to trash it. GREED is the god that trashes our earth, and has no respect for human life.

Kathr: "does not believe the health of our earth is important, or can get sick. God gave US this planet to take care of, and one day man will have to answer for these things"

"Sick earth"? LOL! Do you worship Gaia, the goddess of the living earth or Jehovah, its Creator. The Bible says we are to SUBDUE (conquer) the earth - not to feed it chicken soup. You left wing liberal types come up with some crazy stuff.

Gen 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and SUBDUE it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
---jerry6593 on 1/28/15

Jed. Here in Australia we call them the Lamestream media also.

These narrow minded warmist scientists are motivated by the funding they receive.

I am happy to teach you the gospel if only you'd actually show interest in having an intelligent conversation. Jed, that is your OPINION. and we all have our OPINIONS. No one knows how many years, if left unchecked, the plains would have I fact healed themselves. And we don't know how many lives would be lost as well, affecting even as far as Europe.

The point is Jed, MAN, totally ignorant are still making ignorant choices in the name of progress. Can crops be grown today where Chernobyl blew up? Another incident of MAN pushing the envelope, just like the Titanic's RACE across the Atlantic, pushing the envelope against those with greater wisdom ended in tragedy.

MAN, as we see in the Gulf, will have untold lasting devastating effects, including the POISON that was dumped in the Gulf making matters even worse.

Umm, not exactly.

The Dust Bowl was MAN MADE, and the number #1 ecological disaster to date. ---kathr4453 on 1/26/15

The point is Jed, MAN in ignorance CAN create disasters. ---kathr4453 on 1/26/15<.I>

Agreed. But even the worst of those Man-made disasters are so insignificant compared to the magnitude of natural climate change that it's effects are negligible in the grand scheme of global climate change. And their effects are temporary as well. God designed a pretty efficient system for cleaning up his creation. Climate change is actually part of that nifty process.
---Jed on 1/26/15

Jed, please read what I said. I said the Dust Bowl is the greatest MAN MADE disaster to date. I was not comparing man made to natural made. The point is Jed, MAN in ignorance CAN create disasters.
---kathr4453 on 1/26/15

Kathr, no it wasn't. That's my point. You said that the dust bowl was the #1 ecological disaster to date. Reality is, even the worst man made ecological effects are so incignificant compared to the magnitude of the earth's natural climate changes. To think that tiny man could have any significant effects on the massive forces of nature is grave misunderstanding.

Jed, was the ice age Man Made?
---kathr4453 on 1/26/15

Kathr, are you saying the dust bowl had more impact than the ice age?
---Jed on 1/26/15

The Dust Bowl was MAN MADE, and the number #1 ecological disaster to date. MAN'S IGNORANCE did that. We also see the earth did not heal itself, and it took engineers and scientists from all over the world to fix, and not over night either. We know the majority of our oxygen comes from the ocean, again WE are destroying. The Gulf, the Power plants in Japan still leaking in the oceans, and these accidents are happening all over our rivers lakes and oceans, and have for sometime now. OK, maybe CO2 is causing more trees to grow, BUT the majority of our oxygen does not come from trees. WE have caused an imbalance. Water, land, animals, atmosphere all work together, and our advanced technology and overpopulation IS destroying our planet earth.
---kathr4453 on 1/26/15

"Sometimes I believe God is letting man destroy himself. Even with technology. While I love technology it is evil in many cases."
---shira4368 on 1/20/15

Shira: I believe, as Scripture says, "the earth is the Lord's & the fullness thereof & all who dwell in it." However, those who function in the world system, controlled by the god of this world, i.e., the devil, will perish (be destroyed) with him if they don't repent of their sins.

Technology, in & of itself, isn't evil. In numerous ways it's a blessing. Yet, it's how some people choose to use technology for evil, rather than for good, that causes disastrously bad things to happen...

Some few years ago Professor Ian Plimer (geology) told me that analysis of rocks disclosed that CO2 levels in the distant past were c 7 times that of today and life flourished. If I remember correctly he said this was the era of the megga flora and fauna.

We need to remember that CO2 is a naturally occurring gas, and not a pollutant. It is vital for life and constitutes only 0.04% or 400 parts per million of the atmosphere.
---Warwick on 1/24/15

CO2 is NOT an appreciable contributor to the atmospheric greenhouse effect. Only water vapor is. Water is also a refrigerant. The more of it evaporated, the more it cools.

All of the CO2 generated by mankind in his entire history is less than that of one good volcano blast. So we are insignificant with respect to climate change.

Plants love CO2 and will absorb all they can get (especially oceanic algae).

The earth's climate is always changing. So what? We couldn't do anything about it if we wanted to. It follows solar output which is cyclical. God is in control of our climate, not us. So live with climate change or leave the planet.
