I Want More Money

I lead a very simple lifestyle having little in way of worldly possessions. This makes it so that I could give away half my take home pay. Lately, the ones that I give money asks why I give more to the other person than them. How would you respond?

Matthew 20:15
Dont I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?
---mike6384 on 5/18/15

I do want to thank Rita and Trav for their support.

By the way, I did pray about it for several days before I posted this blog and I did get a response from the Holy Spirit.

Don't get any better than an answer from GOD. You keep on keeping on Steveng.
Will pray with you guys/ladies always. And don't have to know what it is for. Our GOD will sort it out.
Who misses what spills over the edge of the cup? All we expected was the amount in the cup.
Psa_16:5 The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.
Psa_23:5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over.

Steveng, God bless you.

Tell them it isn't any of their business. You give to whomever and any sum of money the Holy Spirit tells you.

You should keep a card with Matthew 20:1-15 on it.

Don't get upset.
Remember they talked about Jesus.

"...Or am I not FREE to do as I wish with MY OWN MONEY?
Are you ENVIOUS because I am GENEROUS?

You people are pathetic. I give a legitimate concern and accuse me of being boastful, an enabler, bragging, being of low-self asteem, and braodcasting my good works. I don't tell anyone what I do and I ask the person not to tell anyone I gave you this money. I cannot control the mouths of others.

I do want to thank Rita and Trav for their support.

Christy: writing articles? Walk through any christian bookstore and look at all the authors claiming they know the secret. Christians should not profit from the words of God.

By the way, I did pray about it for several days before I posted this blog and I did get a response from the Holy Spirit. Trav came close.

" However, one does need to evaluate/judge behavior-actions-words." True but only with people we know something about, for instance friends, family, acquaintances etc. in situations where we can see facial expressions, gestures, hear the tone of voice etc. It is not a good idea to try that with anonymous people posting on an internet site.

Matthew 6:1-4

//We don't know another person's motives and don't need to because God DOES.//

You are right...most the time we don't know motives of others. However, one does need to evaluate/judge behavior-actions-words.
---Rod4Him on 5/14/15

Several people here seem to be questioning the asker's motive in asking this question. That is a rather unpleasant thing to do and sounds like judgement.

We don't know another person's motives and don't need to because God DOES. All we should do is give a straight answer to the question being asked.

I would not give those complainers another cent at all. Let the ungrateful people see what their sin, jealousy, has gotten them. Never give people money, buy groceries or pay things for them sometimes but not always. They grow lazy and expect it and will never make their own way. God Bless

Steveng, I hope you're putting aside some of that excess money as a hedge against unforeseen financial problems.
If a crisis happens you may need more than prayer !
---1st_cliff on 5/13/15

It would have been far better if each one to whom you give had been asked not to discuss with others that you were giving anything at all but, of course, you could not enforce that. To those asking the question I'd suggest you just tell that person that he/she seems to be showing ingratitude by questioning you. You possibly see a greater need in one than the other but that is not the other person's business. I would let such a person know that I was not at all happy at being asked as we should all be grateful for what we are given and not be looking at what someone else is given. You could stop this totally at any moment if you chose to do that.

You are definitely an enabler. You also seem to be bragging. Sometimes people with low self esteem build up their own ego by helping those less fortunate.

...Lately, the ones that I give money asks why I give more to the other person than them. How would you respond?
---Steveng on 5/12/15

I would answer, as the lord/judge of your own money. That what amount and who you give that amount too is your own consideration and to be Thankful they got anything. You done them a right and they lay a wrong on you.

Your story makes the one asking for a reason look unappreciative. Like the parable below.

Mat_20:13 But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?
---Trav on 5/13/15

//And why would anyone know what others are getting? I would think you could arrange so each one knows only one's own business.//

I agree...just figure out how to give so one hand doesn't know what the other hand is doing.

BTW, the blog question sounds a bit like you are broadcasting your good works...just saying.
---Rod4Him on 5/13/15

I would ask myself, By giving this person money, "Am I helping or hurting this person."
The rich (you) rules over the poor (them), and the borrower (them) is slave of the lender (you). Proverbs 22:7

Hi, Steven (c: I would first respond to God in prayer, and be satisfied. And trust Him to guide you about what and how you give, so He is satisfying you about what you do.

And if you give "heroically" generously, I consider that Satan was in Heaven itself and he was not satisfied. So, worldly people will never be satisfied.

And why would anyone know what others are getting? I would think you could arrange so each one knows only one's own business.

But pray, most of all, and obey > Colossians 3:15, Hebrews 13:5 < make sure you yourself are really content with the LORD.
