24 Hour Church Webcam

An idea for you all.

Our church has a 24 hour webcam linked to our site which allows people to see the church at any time, as well as our services.

Furthermore, our DRE has a mid-week children's lesson that is webcast.

How do these ideas sound to you all?

I think it's a great idea. This is another way to help those who can't make it to church and as a type of security to

Going to church is about spending time communally in worship and praise of our Father and GOD.

Also about fellow-shipping with others in the faith.

Every day we are to spend time in prayer and study of the word of GOD.

Orthodox worship is not about going to hear a sermon.

It's about participating in and receiving the Eucharistic Sacrifice.

Now, we also have other services, such as Vespers, that are not the Eucharist.

You said: Whatever man creates will always turn evil. Now evil people will monitor the sermons of denominational "churches" from the comfort of their homes or offices to find any hate speeches being made and, in turn, sue the church.

The true church of God does not have such problems.

Of course, with churches without webcams, these same evil people would have to show up in person instead, but that has already happened.

Or do you have a better way to worship that avoids such problems? For the second time, I ask how and where?

I think it's a great idea for the services, but not to stare at an empty room all night.

Our Church also live streams the services every Sabbath, and we have literally thousands watching worldwide.

It seems like "WORSHIP/DEVOTION" is being promoted as a Hollywood style fad/fashion and that it is being encouraged that Jesus should be accepted simply as a CELEBRITY (gossip included).

There is nothing in the original post to suggest that this is how it is being used.

I agree that watching church on television is no substitute for actually being there (for those who can), but it is certainly better than nothing (for those who can't, due to illness, logistics, or other reasons).

I can assure you we are NOT a mega church. On a good Sunday, we run 85.

And our services are NOT intended as entertainment.

As one Protestant woman said after attending Orthodox Vespers, "I didn't understand what the service was about, but I do know it was NOT about me!"

Faith for faith said, "
This is the new 'megachurch fun/entertainment' church OF MAN.

This is not to say that man has been teaching properly for the last 2,000 years, it just means that the situation is GETTING WORSE."

Faith, I know Cluny and respect him. I have been known to visit his church from time to time, when I have been in town.

As he is Orthodox Christian, a visit to his church--or his church's website--will reveal the pure worship that has carried down from the fourth and fifth centuries.

That his pastor has decided to use a web cam to reach more people is just one way of evangelizing.

Pray for me,
the unworthy monk Brendan

\\Cluny....you made me laugh on this one.

What's to laugh?

The camera is basically one of the security camera, only additionally webcasting on our church's website.

I thought I was making a positive suggestion.

I know this has been a blessing for me when I can't get to Divine Liturgy.

Glory to Jesus Christ!

Cluny I think it's a great thing to do. Just maybe someone needs comfort or salvation, perhaps it may help them. I know due to pain I'm sometimes up late and would love to get a good service to watch. God Bless

God has had this generation of worshipers gain alot of understanding and discover more than has ever been known, but satan is compensating for all of that by doing things like this.

This is 'churchianity' at its worst.
