Cluny, you write that Elijah hasn't died yet, and that the Biblical data is ambiguous about whether Moses died.

Have you not read Matthew 11:14? What Jesus said of John? If you are willing to accept it, he (JOHN) is the Elijah who was to come. (Matthew 11:14) In so far as I know, John was beheaded.

Of Moses, have you not read?

And Moses the servant of the Lord died there in Moab, as the Lord had said. (Deuteronomy 34:5)

Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died. (Deuteronomy 34:7)

May be our Bibles are different. I do not know what Bible you are reading from.

I know the RCC states Ghosts do not exist, but the Pope nor Bishops NEVER slept in my Grandma's house.

My Grandma was a Strong Bible Baptist Woman! No nonsense woman.

But, she even told me stories of the ghosts (yes multiple) living in the house.

She even claims they followed them to the NEW house. That made her MAD!

My mother states they are friendly ghosts and harmless

I heard them and they never bothered me.

But I always made an announcement not to make any noise while I visited.

To my shock they didn't. Other family members told their continued stories of ghost haunting.

I told them to make the announcement as I did.

They chose not to listen and thus continued to hear them.

\\WHO KNOWS? Samuel (who was dead) appeared to Saul and announced to Saul that Saul would die. At the Transfiguration in 3 gospel accounts, Moses and Elijah appeared with Jesus and were seen by Peter, James and John.\\

One thing--Elijah hasn't died yet.

And the Biblical data is ambiguous about whether Moses died.

Glory to Jesus Christ!

WHO KNOWS? Samuel (who was dead) appeared to Saul and announced to Saul that Saul would die. At the Transfiguration in 3 gospel accounts, Moses and Elijah appeared with Jesus and were seen by Peter, James and John. 2 Kings, Elisha said, Was not my spirit with you when the man got down from his chariot to meet you? Now Naamans leprosy will cling to you and to your descendants forever. My wife claims to have seen a ghost. Her brother-in-law claims to have seen a ghost, and I have one brother who claims to have conversed with a ghost in a hotel room he was staying. The ghost told my brother that he had been murdered in the room years before. Who knows?

No I don't believe in so called ghost. Their are evil spirits. They can inhabit non believers.

I am sorry Luke I misunderstood. You are correct about evil spirits.

///Samuel, I was not discussing Luke 16. And the spirits of the saved are with Christ. And the only spirits haunting human beings are evil spirits... concerning parables, [they're] not lies. All parables speak the truth...---Luke on 11/1/15///

Very true Luke: Evil spirits are ever present in the world. Even on this blog.

Everything Jesus spoke was/is true. To say the parables aren't true is to actually say Jesus lied!

"Jesus said to them, I Am the Way, the TRUTH, & the Life: No [one] comes to the Father, but by me." (John 14:6)

\\That's absurdly backwards considering what Scripture says: "Let your light so shine before men,\\

Leon, do you actually think that the Lord was talking about front porch lights here?

Glory to Jesus Christ!
---Cluny on 10/31/15

Samuel, I was not discussing Luke 16. And the spirits of the saved are with Christ. And the only spirits haunting human beings are evil spirits.
Second, concerning parables, they are not lies. All parables speak the truth. Those who are saved do not pray to the dead. Only those who have no light in them pray to the dead. And not everyone of them either. Some not all.
---Luke on 11/1/15

But Luke the story in Luke 16 is a parable and not a real event.

The only spirit haunting this world are the demons who impersonate the dead to deceive people.

NKJV Isaiah 8:19,20
And when they say to you, Seek those who are mediums and wizards, who whisper and mutter, should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living?

To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

No one should be praying to the dead.

I agree Luke & am aware of the SDA's view on hell. That's unfortunate, because it goes against what Jesus taught (Lk.16:19-31).

Speaking of HELL: Once more, "Helloween" is upon us (tomorrow). The human "SPOOKS" (spiritually dead folk: young & old) will be wandering/haunting the neighborhoods, etc., in the dark, celebrating death, hell & the grave.

In my city, the rule is if you're not participating, you should turn your porch light(s) out & no "spooks" will darken your door. That's absurdly backwards considering what Scripture says: "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, & glorify your Father which is in heaven." (Matt. 5:16)

There is "the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience," we have in Ephesians 2:2. While Satan's evil and selfish spirit "works" in disobedient people, his emotions and ways and thinking can be shared with the personality of that worldly person. Then, after the person dies, the evil spirit can come back and imitate the dead person who became like the demon.

And, in so-called reincarnation, if an evil spirit gave someone more or less of the person's personality, the evil spirit can recycle that personality in a later human > like how a flash drive can move a program and videos and other memories from an old computer to a new one.

When everyone's physical body dies, they go into the grave & sleep (are unconscious, unknowing). The conscious spirits/souls of saved people go to be with the Lord. But, the Bible teaches the conscious spirits/souls of the unsaved go to hell.

---Leon

I agree with you. Yet many will disagree concerning those who are not saved. I believe SDA's do not agree with that answer. But the resurrection at the Second Coming is the resurrection of the bodies not the resurrection of the spirit. When we came to Christ we were resurrected, and from that moment on we are united with Christ, spiritually, forever. But not the unbeliever, he is not united with Christ, that's why when he dies his spirit/soul goes to hell
---Luke on 10/30/15

///...yes. Evil spirits do haunt [possess] & harass people...But...dead people [don't] haunt [us]. If [they] were saved, their spirit is with God. If [they're] not saved [they're] in the grave waiting for the Second Coming when [they'll] rise & ...will be judge[d] at the Great White Throne of Judgment.---Luke on 10/29/15///

Luke: If by "evil spirits" you mean demons/devils, then I agree. You seem to be saying there are no human ghosts, of which I also agree.

When everyone's physical body dies, they go into the grave & sleep (are unconscious, unknowing). The conscious spirits/souls of saved people go to be with the Lord. But, the Bible teaches the conscious spirits/souls of the unsaved go to hell.

The actual question is: Are there ghosts (aka spooks) in the world that are haunting living human beings?

Leon, the answer is yes. Evil spirits do haunt and harass people all the time. But actual dead people do not haunt human beings. If they are dead and were saved, their spirit is with God. If they were not saved they are in the grave waiting for the Second Coming when they will rise and then will be judge at the Great White Throne of Judgment.

Thx Trey. I agree wholeheartedly. Demons/devils are very real & , as the Bible illustrates, can & will possess the bodies of unsaved people.

Regarding "purgatory", I don't share the Roman Catholic's view, but do believe the Bible shows when Adam fell, God gave us a "SECOND CHANCE" to do penance ,(specifically repentance) & be "born again". In that sense, I agree with the Catholic notion of a purgatory (hell), BUT on Earth for all sinners, BEFORE WE DIE, NOT AFTERWARDS.
---Leon on 10/29/15

I read of demons and devils. I read of the children of God that John saw in heaven, but I do not read where anyone ever goes anywhere but ether to heaven or hell when they die. Revelation 6:9 & Luke 16:24

Yes, their body goes to the grave, but their soul and spirit either goes to heaven to be with God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit or it goes to hell. It does not go to sleep and it does not go to Purgatory.

"Are there ghosts (aka spooks) in the world that are haunting living human beings?" No.
"The living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward, for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished, Nevermore will they have a share In anything done under the sun. His breath goeth forth, he returns to his earth, in that very day his thoughts perish. His sons come to honour, and he does not know it, They are brought low, and he does not perceive it."
