The one church is the Body of Christ
Too much emphasis is placed on denominations.
The mystery of Christ teaches us that you dont go to church since you ARE the church (1 Cor 3:16).
The church established after the Pauline pattern, with the growth plan, defined in Eph 4:12.
The perfecting of the saints
For the work of the ministry
For the edifying of the body of Christ

Nicole said, "All under Pope Francis's direction."

We are in Communion with the Pope, but not under him. Melkites have a Patriarch

"I can go to your Mass and still fulfill my Sunday Obligation."

And receive the Eucharist

"But, if I went to Cluny's Mass, I would still need to go to a Catholic Mass."

Nicole, that's not true. A long time ago, the nuns in St. Jerome's School in Chicago told us that if we cannot get to Mass, we can go to a Divine Liturgy (that's what Eastern Christians call the Celebration of the Eucharist), and that will "satisfy" the Sunday Obligation.

No disagreement

//Nicole,..but the faith we both belong to has many different flavors. Roman Catholic, to be sure, is the largest group.--Monk_Brendan on 7/17/16

I know what you meant, but instead of the word flavors use Rites.

Latin Rite is the largest rite of the RCC. But the other Rites are beautiful and lovely.

West, North, South and East Americans speak different and live their lives differently from each other. But all are still Americans.

All those you mention are still Catholic.
All under Pope Francis's direction.

I can go to your Mass and still fulfill my Sunday Obligation.

But, if I went to Cluny's Mass, I would still need to go to a Catholic Mass.

Nicole Lacey said, "But everyone knows if you a upper case 'C' it means Roman Catholic Church!"

Nicole, I hate to have to disagree with you, but the faith we both belong to has many different flavors. Roman Catholic, to be sure, is the largest group. But the next largest group is Ukrainian Catholics, who follow the Eastern Traditions (Yes, I know, I used a dirty word). I happen to belong to the Melkite Catholic Church, whose members are mostly Arab Christians.

Orthodox Christianity
Orthodox Islam
Orthodox Hinduism
Orthodox Buddhism
Orthodox Sikhism
Orthodox Judaism
Orthodox Bahaism
Orthodox Confucianism..Which of these is Truth? ---aservant on 7/16/16

No you are wrong.
You can say catholic with a little 'c' to mean universal.

But everyone knows if you a upper case 'C' it means Roman Catholic Church!

As orthodox means traditional doctrine and ritual.

That is WHY you had to ADD another word after the word orthodox.

But when the word is written ALONE as Orthodox, EVERYONE KNOWS it means THE ORTHODOX Church.

Only THEY (ORTHODOX) can use the name ALONE!

NOT Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Judaism, or Confucianism

---KarenD on 7/16/16

"Orthodox" is a label we wear so others can find us who want the truth.
---Cluny on 7/14/16

Orthodox def

1. of, relating to, or conforming to the approved form of any doctrine, philosophy, ideology, etc.
2. of, relating to, or conforming to beliefs, attitudes, or modes of conduct that are generally approved.

Orthodox Islam
Orthodox Hinduism

\\We be going to the Salvation Army church...nice people thankfull for their help. & spiritual guidance.\\

They may very well be nice people, but Jesus did not say, "I will make you nice people."

The real question should be, "Are they telling you ALL the truth?"

Glory to Jesus Christ!

A Baptist Church which, I think, is not exactly the same as a Baptist Church is in the U.S. I'm not too sure what the differences are though.

I belong to the Christian Church.

My place of Worship and Study is Berean Bible.
---Rob on 7/14/16

Our name to ourselves is the Church of Christ, Church of the Firstborn, and all the other names given in the New Testament.

"Orthodox" is a label we wear so others can find us who want the truth.

Glory to Jesus Christ!
