I understand where a lot of your opinions come from concerning Pearson's change. But, most of his change is based on original biblical facts. Words misused, and parables confused. Sheol, Hades, Gehenna... Hell, root word for helmet, not fire saturated place of eternal torment. Believe it or not, things were changed intentionally and unintentionally.
---Damien on 8/29/10

2 Corinthians 11:4.

Sometime before Carlton came out with his "new gospel," his grandparents had died. Apparently, they were Christians who backslide and died in a unrepentant state. Perhaps, during his time of grief, Carlton began to rewrite the Bible in his mind because he did not want to think about his grandparents possibly being eternally condemned.

The thought of loved ones burning in the lake of fire is disheartening. However, as painful as this is, one should not rewrite the Holy Word of God. We each must make a conscious decision to serve Jesus, believe in his resurrection and follow Him in order to be saved and live with Him in eternity. Romans 10:9 - 11.

Answer 1. A preacher only. Answer 2. Did Jesus promote sound biblical teachings ?
---hopesome on 1/1/09

I've heard much of this issue but just now giving it any attention. Obviously, much has been said. I do not agree with the majority of Bishop Pearson's positions, however, I admire him for addressing the scriptural questions that plague many individuals that actually STUDY scripture. Pearson is a biblical scholar who's hunger & desire for truth far surpasses many of his critics. Misguided? Maybe? But none of us have all of the answers, No matter how spiritual or educated you think that you are!
---Ojay on 2/3/08

Those who "follow" the teachings of Jesus shouldn't be so narrow minded and unforgiving. You believe there is no reason to learn the teachings of Christ, if you are going to heaven anyway. Why grow as a person and do good deeds if you are going to heaven anyway? You actually have already answered that. There is no reason to. How small minded.
---Kathi_Smith on 11/29/07

Doing good deeds to attain your own eternity in heaven is selfish. Sacrificing TODAY, giving to others when it doesn't benefit you is Christian, getting nothing in return is Christlike.Seeing no reason to learn to better yourself and do good if you are not going to get anything out of it is just simple minded and self centered. This "heretics" gospel correlates much more with the teaching of Jesus Christ than yours
---Kathi_Smith on 11/29/07

I watched his interview on msnbc and it was shocking. I believe that he was preacher by trade and opportunity to begin with, instead of a preacher by his great love for God. Having been in God's presence so much and having had His glory reflect upon him, Carlton began to believe the glory came from himself. That is exactly the same story of Lucifer. And a third of the angels followed Lucifer. It is not Carlton Pearson my heart breaks for but the people who follow him.
---diana_hester on 10/1/07

Seriously, I can't believe some of you have so little compassion. I too do not want the people I love on this earth and all the good people out there like Gandi to go to hell either. I don't believe God has revealed all to us. I know his mercy will prevail. Keep an open heart and mind.
---LINDA on 9/24/07

according to Pearson every one is already saved without having to do anything and hell is here on earth. If we are ALL already redeemed then we should all quite preaching the Gospel and quite teaching repentance because we're already saved any way, why preach.
---evangelistjerry on 9/20/07

Has anyone sat down and spoken with him to realy understand what the change is about or do you think he is using this to gain popularity. because every ones talking about him again....its only my thoughts!!!
---cretize on 9/20/07

I wish other ministers would open their eyes to the inclusivness of God. The arrogance in the Christian world is amazing to me. It is the blind following the blind. I agree with Rev. Pearson's ministry and I have been around the world in the faith's.
---george_smith on 9/13/07

Amen. I doubt he even wants to see what people are saying given the comment on ABC recently that "hell" to him was seeing the people whose babies he'd blessed, etc. walk out on him. Thank God for those 5700 members who had the Word settled in their hearts enough to choose God over a church leader! Amen!
---Theresa on 8/1/07

Who knows, Theresa. Maybe someone in his camp will read this blog. Whenever you type a name into your search engine, quite often CN blogs come right up first. Happens to me frequently. So Carlton, if you're out there, Theresa and I remember you when, when you still were preaching with the power of the Holy Spirit. Why did you turn on all of your friends who tried to bring you back with correction? Why did you write your own gospels?
---Flint on 8/1/07

I agree! Seeing him on the special on ABC recently really devastated me. I've known of him for longer than 20 years and his countenance & overall appearance looks entirely different now. Like Samson, the Spirit of God has departed from him and he's in denial. Of course the scripture says "evil communications corrupt good manners." I hate to see him deny the truth openly like he is, so you're right, prayer must continue!
---Theresa on 8/1/07

I did give it considerable thought, Theresa.
How many churches do you think have fasted and prayed for Carlton? Probably more than we can think of or will ever know.
Nothing is impossible, I hope the Holy Spirit helps him find his way back home. I remember Carlton about twenty years ago, completely different.
He seems somewhat hurt by others but rebellion is still in charge.
---Flint on 7/31/07

If we are born-again Christians, we must answer by what we believe, and that is the Holy Bible. It is possible Carlton could have gotten a more suitable wife in his own fellowship in his church while younger, but there are no guarantees. She posed as a born-again believer and as I said before, he met her at a Christian Singles Conference. The Bible says there are "wolves in sheep's clothing." I'm still praying that he repents!

I don't want to over spiritualize the situation. But from a practical standpoint, if he had married earlier, to a Christian lady in his own church, biblically it says better to marry than to burn. He may have found someone of his own faith. That is what the Bible says. He's intelligent and I'm sure he knew all of that a younger age. Waiting until you're 40 or 50, your human foundation can start to crack. Weakness can set in.
---Flint on 7/31/07

Flint, marrying earlier still could have resulted in the same disastrous backslidden state for him. That's why the Bible says "Let him that thinks he standeth, take heed lest he fall" in Corinthians. I've seen a lot in this Christian race and it is a fact that those who "endure to the end shall be saved"...and as Hebrews Chapter 3 states "..we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end."Pray for all Christians!
---Theresa on 7/31/07

Flint, Christians who believe themselves to be invincible or who fail to "walk circumspectly and not as fools" as the Bible teaches us are in for a fall. We must act on the Word at all times, and none of us as Paul says in Phillipians 3:12-14 are already perfect or so great. Samson was surrounded by godly parents and an entire nation of God's people, but women won out, sad to say, until his last fatal victory!
---Theresa on 7/31/07

Really shocked at what?
Why would a pastor who had strong Christian friends surrounding him, TBN family, everything at his fingertips fall so easily?
Like I said, he should have married earlier and not held out so long, then he wouldn't have fallen for the first woman who came along. It did mess up his life.

Pastors are tempted every day like the rest of us. Ted Hagaard and Jim Baker are two well known ones, but so are other pastors.
They have to be held accountable as we are.
But perhaps, he if had married a Christian woman earlier in life, he wouldn't have fallen for someone who had that much influence.
---Flint on 7/30/07

Flint, I'm really shocked!Carlton is wrong, but as in the case of Samson & Delilah, Carlton was "taken" with this woman at first sight. Carlton had been without a woman for years and "boom" he meets a woman at a Christian singles conf. who is beautiful to him and posing as a Christian. At the time he met her he had been talking about God preparing him to get married. Carman, though he's a friend doesn't have the persuasion a woman can have on any man. Read your Bible!
---Theresa on 7/29/07

Theresa, if that's the case, it's a sad commentary that he could be so easily led. He should have married sooner and maybe 'love' wouldn't have had such a big influence on him. I hope he repents and turns back to the Gospel. I remember when he and Carmen were good friends, didn't Carmen have any pull? Evidently not.
---Flint on 7/29/07

It is apparent that after Carlton met his wife he changed his thinking. After they married,in an article he and his new wife were at a new age event,(where she participated before)Carlton spoke about how wonderful the Hindus, etc. were that he met. Even when used by God, we must"..take heed lest we fall." A former church member says he allowed his wife to pray, and she prayed a prayer without Christ. Looks like Delilah has struck again. Let's pray that he gets the final victory!

---catherine on 6/25/07

Carlton Pearson has been deceived. Anyone hearing, seeing, feeling or whatever they experience.. anything that they think is God is not God if what the voice says contradicts God's written word, the Bible.

According to his gospel of inclusion, Jesus died so we can all sin without being condemned for it.
Now he says that gays are not sinners, but God says gays are wicked.
---Barbara on 6/24/07

Uche...you cant place experiences above scripture...your experience condradicts the bible so it was not an expereince from God...so either you were On something or you had a demonic encouter

Uche, does this mean i can sin all i want, I CAN GIVE INTO SIN and be bound by my sinful nature and satan, and NOT GO TO HELL...man i love it
(i was being sarcastic)
---mark on 1/5/07

Uche - The voice you heard was definitely not that of the Lord. God never lies or goes against what is in His Word. There is lots to be said about Hell in His Word. Read the New Testament and see for yourself. That was a lying spirit that spoke to you to lead you astray.
---Helen_5378 on 1/5/07

I had a vivid experience in july 2006 when a voice that I believed was that of the Lord God Almighty spoke to me audibly and clearly telling me that hell does not exist.
I also saw sights in the sky. I am not joking!!! I no longer believe in hell.
---uche on 1/5/07

Do you believe in hell, Billy? These blogs are so bogged sometimes, I can't tell what anyone really thinks. Do you believe in the literal hell for the unsaved. No second chances, no working your way out hell and onward and upward into heaven. But heaven or hell. Cut and dry. Hell if don't make a decision on earth to follow Jesus. Thanks

Hello,I would just like to say,i used to go and see Carlton Pearson at Betaney preaching when ever he would come to Baton Rouge. And i do not understand what made him change like this.Of course the ones of us that are saved will go to heaven, but not everybody.God loves us all and wishes that no one goes to hell. But he will not force his self on no one.I love Jesus and everything about him.So i beleive what the Holy Bible says not what a man says.
---ERIKA_ALLEN on 10/16/06

I will pray for Carlton Pearson, God still loves him even in his error. However, I wanted to say that, hell is real by scripture. I would rather believe that there is a hell and not go there or I can just believe that there isn't and just wait til I die. I believe in the grace of God and what mr. pearson believes is taking God's glory and his grace. According to scripture he loves us all but if you do not accept JESUS CHRIST as your saviour you are lost. It is plain foolishness do believe otherwise.

Hello Mrs. Morgan, No I'm not a Johovah's witness. Growing up I was Methodist, because thats where my parents took me to church. As God begain to drag me to him, at 20, I begain to go to an independent holiness church. But have been disfellowshiped with because of what God has begun to show me about the false teachings that are going on in the Church.

I'm not saying that there isn't a judgement that God doesn't render to every person that's ever lived, because there is. But this belief that people go to heaven or hell after death isn't scripture. Is there any takers to give me scriptural proof that there is? It is appointed unto man once to die and then the judgement. We are not judged till after we are ressurrected.

1Co 15:33 Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
1Co 15:34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

1Co 15:30 And why stand we in jeopardy every hour?
1Co 15:31 I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
1Co 15:32 If after the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantageth it me, if the dead rise not? let us eat and drink; for to morrow we die.

When we die, we die. Is there a new testament scripture that lets us know that after we die, we are to be awaiting a ressurrection, and that we don't "after death" go to a heaven or hell?

Do we go to heaven, much less a hell after we die? According to these scriptures, when we die, we die. What is this Hebrew word sheol, and what is it's definition? sheh-ole' From H7592; hades or the world of the dead (as if a subterranian retreat), including its accessories and inmates: - grave, hell, pit. Doesn't this go hand and hand with the scriptures? Life can only continue after a ressurrection...
---Billy on 8/15/06

Ecc 9:4 For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion.
Ecc 9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
Ecc 9:6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.
---Billy on 8/15/06

Ecc 3:19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.
---Billy on 8/15/06

The translators of the KJV translate the Hebrew word sheol, 31 times as, "hell." But ... BUT, did you know that they also translate this same word sheol, 31 times as, "grave?" Oh really? Yes, really! And 3 times, "pit." That looks like a toss of the coin, doesnt it? Thirty-one, "hell" and thirty-one, "grave." Heads for hell, and tails for grave? And maybe three times "pit" when they dropped the coin?

If you're inspired by the "Bishop" Pearsons gospel of "inclusion" you'll be happy to know that all you need to do is ignore all the things in the bible that you find offensive. Yes, just pick and choose and then believe that. Forget about all of that pesky clear biblical teaching on how many will not make it to heaven nonsense. After all, its only your soul you're gambling with. Aint it grand? I can wallow in sin or be a Hindu and I will still go to heaven!
---Nick on 8/15/06

Dateline program was very very grieving. Pride goes before the fall and I'm afraid that is what happened here. How the mighty have fallen. Preachers who once carried the presence of the Holy Spirit and knew the moving of the Holy Spirit, to see them fall is very grieving. But it ain't over til it's over and God will use others who will obey Him.
---EBN on 8/15/06

I myself believe that Pearson is right about Christ being the saviour of the world, but he thinks that all religions lead to Christ, and this isn't true. If his thoughts are to be true then Acts chapter 6&7 talking about Stephen being stoned for trying to teach them to believe in Christ, was in vain. Stephen should have keeped his mouth shut if they were already saved. Isa. 26:9 When Gods judgements are in the earth the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.
---Billy on 8/15/06

Just watched Carlton, doesn't even look like the same man from years ago. The anointing was gone, it was sad. Even in his new church, appeared he was working it up out of the flesh. Why let pride take you down, repent Carlton and get back on track! It's not too late. He said accepting his new revelation was like steering a big ship - takes time but finally you can make the turn. Oh no, that's a slippery slope.

How many Christians have actually read through the Bible to know what it teaches about judgment and rewards in this life and in the world to come? Carlton's revelation is simply not found unless you take one scripture out of context to build a new doctrine. Having attended his church for several years, I saw the guilt ladened man trade one extremism for another. Those who follow him do not study or seek God for themselves. They want a feel good religion.

TV program this week interviewed Carlton. Wondered where he was after all these years. He interprets Revelation without hell, fire&damnation. A softer touch. Alarms were going off in my heart that it was amiss. I believe he's veered off course -"kingdom of heaven suffers violence, & the violent take it by force". Matt. 11:12
---Rachel on 7/22/06

To all those people that think Carlton Pearson is wrong, may I inform you that it was the same type of "religious" minds that crucified Jesus. How could anyone worship a God that has an anger management problem, one that created people to torture them, creating them as sinners and then demanding that they not act like sinners..Sin causes conseqences in our life that is "hell", ie;drunks winding up in jail for dui, etc...But God never intended a firey eternal hell for man.

Moderator - Jesus didn't teach false doctrines.
---susan_lancaster on 7/3/06

Pearson says that gays should infiltrate the church to change it. He says if Satan apologized he could go to Heaven. He hears voices. He believes that there is a Hell, but the only way you get there is by rejecting grace. So, really, only preaching the Gospel sends people to Hell.

Carlton was told by God at Azusa '99 to not do anything and seek his face that night and he didn't do as God asked! It is at this time everything started to change. I know because I went to Higher D. and I was there when Many men of God came and spoke of the disobience. Carton Pearson received a "Revelation" from a spirit in about 1999 that God was Ashamed by our Hell Fire Preaching, Yet He Failed to Properly Test the Spirits (1John4:1). hehe, Steve, by your reply on Carlton, I bet I even know which Steve you are! People who damn Carlton as a heretic and admonish to go 'study' the bible don't realize that is exactly what Carlton did - his college majors were in the original languages of the scriptures - therefore, his enlightened understanding of and willingness to admit he had originally not understood the scriptures should be even more recognized as sound.

You'd be wise to guard who is feeding your spirit Steve. Yes, Jesus did come to save the world, but the entire world is NOT going to be saved. That is simply not biblical. There is no way you can get around or explain away ALL THE MANY scriptures that prove there is a hell and MANY will walk the path that leads straight to it- Matt 7:13, just for starters. Sorry to hear that about Pearson Deloe, he was a good teacher. That explains to me why Carman broke fellowship with him, he was once his pastor and friend.
---NVBarbara on 12/1/05

He USED to be the way you describe below...but not anymore. A couple of years ago, he turned his back on the true gospel message and started 'preaching' very contradictory and blasphemous things, saying that no one is going to hell- that EVERYBODY was saved and going to be in Heaven. Oral and Richard Roberts, as well as TBN cut fellowship with him, and his church split as well.
