Darlene //It isn't about a woman not speaking but about a woman not usurping the power over her husband plus it is a reminder for a wife to respect her husband and his position in the church, not to bring him shame. Of course you have in view ONLY in the church since in our societies today athority is inherent in the job position held by the person. For instance, a woman who is a military general, a surgeon, a political leader, head of State, etc. has authority derived from the position. And those who work under her, must of course, submit to her direction. I am often left wondering if woman who believe men must lead are those who are too weak mentally to handle the responsibilities of decision making themselves.

Intimidation is the tool most often used by cultists. And we often hear on this forum accusations of being unscriptural in our viewpoint even on issues that are very peripheral to the basics of the faith. Another technique that the devil uses is that we can do anything we wish since we are saved by grace alone. However, those that are in Christ, have the Holy Spirit working within them for their sanctification and eventual glorification. They cannot continue to sin.

//In Genesis 1:3-5 God created light. This light lit up the side of the earth facing the sun. My little grey cells tell me that the sun was not created until the 4th period. Genesis 1:3-5 refers to the first period where the light was from God, not the sun which was not yet created. Clearly there was a change in what was viewed as a 'day' during the 1st 3 creation periods from those of the last 3 creation periods. So any reference to what constitutes a 'day' after the creation, would be based upon the earth's rotation in respect to the sun and thus 24 hours in duration.

//I stand by my "legalistic witchcraft" statement. It is what it is! :) I would reckon that what really counts is that those who have experienced this phenomenon, have found positive changes in their lives. Such an experience should drive one deeper into the Word of God as well as having love toward those who are in need. A simple emotional experience or catharsis seldom has such weight on ones personal spiritual life and that is why I for one would not totally discount it. I do agree that most who claim to speak in tongues, simply have deluded themselves by believing such a gift is for everyone. And that is the problem with those who are tongue preachers.
