| Another Great Depression Coming | |
Many people have accussed me of being a "pessimist" when I've expressed concern about all the reckless USA Government spending that is going on. Another Great Depression will eventually occur simply because the USA Government is spending beyond it's means. In other words, the question isn't "IF" there will be another Depression, only "WHEN" that will occur. I'm surprised that the USA has managed to survive as long as it has. With $12+ TRILLION in debt. Unbelievable! My critics don't know what to say when I ask them how the USA will pay all that debt back. I wonder why they are speechless.
| Can Single Moms Find Man | |
KarenD: I agree with what you said. When kids are young, and with the deep hurt that comes from seeing your parents no longer living together, the last thing that these kids need is more hurt. I have seen many kids have to live through that. Some grow up to be fearful of marriage because of their parents' divorce, remarriage, etc. I've studied the problems of remarriage. Mainly to help friends who are struggling with what they thought would be a "quick fix" to singleness, but found themselves in an "asking for trouble" situation. Remarriage involves more people. Children and Adults. From previous relationships as well as current ones. The Bible says people are imperfect. Pray.
| Wife Spends All My Money | |
Skyelar: The wording of your question gives me the idea that your marriage isn't a relationship based on mutual "love and sacrifice". Your question begins with: MY WIFE. If you really love her, I would think that you would refer to her by NAME. Your wife spend all of YOUR money. In marriage, that becomes OUR money. It sounds like your wife isn't communicating her spending plans to you. She should be. MONEY problems are one of the main reasons for MARRIAGE problems. It sounds like the two of you are living "separate lives under one roof". Instead of having a marriage based on mutual "love and sacrifice". I recommend seeing a pastor or counselor about things.
| Is Obama A Traitor | |
Some of Obama's work has been "disappointing". The United States borrowed money to "bailout" companies. They ended up paying bonuses to executives. However, few jobs were created. These "bailouts" seem to have accomplished little. I think that the Republican approach of having "tax cuts" would have been better. I called the George W. Bush adminisration's "tax cuts" deceptive. I have to take back my own erroneous words. Sorry if I offended anyone. There needs to be a balance between having lower taxes on businesses and keeping jobs in the United States. It seems like Obama just doesn't see that. More jobs have left the country since Obama came into office.
| Corporate Worship Blasphemy | |
Alan, I don't think that "corporate" worship is blasphemy. ALL believers need both "corporate" worship and "private" time with God. The only problem is if things get out-of-balance in a person's life. Too much of one thing and not enough of the other. I've been there. If I remember correctly, you replied to one of my previous blogs and told me that I'd just had some "bad luck" with churches. Actually, I discovered that I was giving ALL of my time to the "corporate" church worship and neglecting my "private" time with God. My spiritual life was out-of-balance. I ended up "burned out" and had to re-adjust my schedule. Oh well, I learned.
| Is Obama A Traitor | |
No. I can't say that President Obama is a "traitor" when he has been in office for such a short time. I'm not sure why some people think that President Obama has betrayed, or mis-led, others. I believe that he has been more honest than other politicians. Like George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. I believe that President Obama is making a honest effort to help the United States recover from years of Republican financial mis-steps. From Ronald Reagan through George W. Bush. I believe that the Republicans are the "traitors". Since Reaganomics, the Federal debt has ballooned from "under" $1 TRILLION to "over" $12 TRILLION. Mostly the result of "deceptive" Republican tax cuts.
| Pastor Responsible For Flock | |
Many pastors don't seem to "preach the word". Maybe these pastors are afraid that some people will be offended. Meanwhile, sin is "exploding" in churches. As just one example, divorce rates in churches are at record highs. And still, many pastors are silent. Well, pastors can only do their "best" to encourage people to make decisions that are pleasing to God. The final decision is up to each individual. Good decisions bring blessings and Bad decisions have negative consequences. As long as a pastor has done his "best" to inform people to make Good decisions, I believe that he will NOT be responsible for other peoples' decisions. Those people will be responsible for their own.
| Can Mental Illness Be Healed | |
Catherine: You are not alone in experiencing Satan's attacks on our minds. He comes against anyone who claims Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Some people may require medications to help them deal with these Satanic attacks. It may very well be a "process", long or short, for a person to learn how to resist these Satanic attacks and trust Jesus Christ more. Until that goal is reached, a person may require medications. I've been through that "process", and praise God, I don't need medications any longer. I know. I know. Today, medications are used to solve almost every problem. We need to find a balance between trusting Jesus Christ and using medications.
| The Complain And Whine Blog | |
MarkV: I have been through situations similar to yours. The difference is people have told me "in person", instead of "on-line". Being told that I "complain a lot" wasn't what I wanted to hear. It took some soul searching before I was able to SEE what these folks were telling me. They were all "sick and tired of listening to my complaining". Well, if they were, then so was God. :<( I now realize that "complaining" is one of my weaknesses. Something that I need to guard against. In my case, just stopping and listening to what others were saying helped me GROW. Then the Moderator posted this blog. Another opportunity for me to complain some more? I passed.
| Is Remarriage Accepted By God | |
I think that Remarriage compares closely to the novel "Frankenstein". In the novel, the mad scientist, Dr. Henry Frankenstein, tries to play "god" and successfully transplants a human brain into a dead man's body. An electrical storm brings Frankenstein, the dangerous monster, to life. Playing "god" was a bad idea and brought along "trouble". God our Father PERMITS Remarriage. However, it is NOT his plan for anyone. I believe that God PERMITS Remarriage because we live in an imperfect world polluted by sin. Just as in "Frankenstein", trying to work things out OUR way [Remarriage], instead of God's way [ONE marriage for life], can turn out to be dangerous.
| The Complain And Whine Blog | |
I will just list some things that I often find myself "complaining" about: ** MEN aren't being the leaders God wants them to be. ** Church leaders seem to be "afraid" to deal with the root of all problems: SIN. ** Ministries spend too much time BEGGING for more money. ** There is so much divorce & remarriage today. Even among CHRISTIANS. ** Too much emphasis is placed on NUMBERS: church attendance, collection totals, building sizes, etc. May God forgive me for this babyish "complaining". I often find that I need to examine myself before I starting whining. Matthew 7:5 :<(
| Man Made Church Traditions | |
Donna: There are several in the Roman Catholic church that sound "good" in principle, but I don't think that the Bible mentions anything about them: Roman Catholic priests CAN'T be married. This is to allow them more time with their parishes. Roman Catholic priests are called FATHER. This is a title that is reserved for the most Holy. No meat on Fridays during the season of Lent. This is healthiest for the body. Only MEN can be priests. WOMEN are nuns. The church officers: Pope, Cardinal, Archbishop, Bishop, Priest
| Lord's Name In Vain | |
In 1987, the televangelist Oral Roberts claimed that GOD had spoken to him with orders to raise $8 million by a certain date or GOD would take Oral Roberts home. GOD would never kill someone for worldly wealth. Hmmm. Was Oral Roberts "crazy" or what? Oral Roberts did collect his $8 million and wasn't called home. His claims were clearly not from GOD, but from the devil. This was one of the biggest examples of BLASPHEMY and taking the Lord's name "in vain". Using the Lord's name to get attention or something else. I'm surprised that GOD didn't send "Fire and Brimstone" upon Oral Roberts for insulting GOD like that.
| Are You A Hated Person | |
Lee: I confess that my use of the word "guarantee" wasn't correct. There are NO "guarantees" in life. At least not in this sinful, fallen world. The story in your last post was sad. I once thought that a marriage between two Christians was "guaranteed" to last until one of the spouses died. Then my best friend and his wife got divorced. The wife had a Biblical reason for divorcing. A sad ending to what was once a happy, loving couple. God's plan for marriage and the family was "perfect" before SIN entered the world. Genesis 3. Ever since that time, death and divorce have made remarriage necessary at times. It's all because we live in an "imperfect" world now.
| Are You A Hated Person | |
Lee: *** And I doubt that you can make your case before any minister of the gospel that re-marriage should not be permitted. *** I NEVER said that re-marriage is not permitted. People can re-marry if they wish to do so. However, God's plan for marriage is what we should all strive for. It is the only plan that is guaranteed to work.
| Are You A Hated Person | |
Lee: *** However, as to the divorce & re-marriage issue, I would question whether you are rightfully handling the word of truth as most fundamentalist pastors are in disagreement with you. *** Hmmm. I'm not sure how fundamentalist pastors could be in disagreement with me UNLESS they are not teaching GOD's plan for marriage: "One Man and One Wife -- For Life" This is EXACTLY what the Bible teaches. Jesus and Paul both taught that too. Sin is what brought "divorce" into the world. Remarriage is rarely, if ever, close to God's plan. Because many remarriages are quickly "breaking up", I question whether many of them are really marriages at all.
| Are You A Hated Person | |
Yes. I think that I've been "hated" by people because . . . I have made it known that "I DO NOT believe in divorce and remarriage". There are people in my Catholic church, every church that I've visited, and probably even this blog, who "hate" my making my values known here. Actually, my values are exactly what Jesus Christ taught. Paul's teachings reflect exactly what Jesus Christ said too: Romans 7:1-3 Ephesians 5:21-25 1 Corinthians 7 My best guess is that I'm "hated" when people get "convicted" by what I say. Maybe they've been hurt and wounded in this area. Jesus Christ can heal their hurts.
| Are You A Hated Person | |
Jerry: Thanks for explaining why "confrontational witnessing" seems more like "pointing the finger", instead of "speaking the truth IN LOVE". While you might get many "listeners", you also create many "enemies". In his witnessing to the Pharisees, Jesus Christ "spoke the truth IN LOVE". Matthew 19:4-6 Paul also "spoke the truth IN LOVE". 1 Corinthians 7. I firmly believe that we should follow Jesus' example in our witnessing to others. I think that "confrontation witnessing" just pushes people away from you. And "closes" their hearts to wanting to hear about Jesus Christ. That isn't what ANY Christian should do.
| Is Islam Non-Biblical | |
Mima: Islam is definitely contrary to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Why? Islam does NOT recognize Jesus Christ as the Messiah. Instead, Islam teaches that Jesus Christ was only a "prophet" who didn't complete his work. Mohammed was sent to complete what Jesus Christ didn't. Thus, Mohammed is "revered" as the Messiah. Quite contrary to what Jesus Christ taught. Whoever is a TRUE follower of Islam is COMMANDED, in the Koran, to "spread the word by the sword". That is why we saw the 9/11 terrorists, suicide bombers, etc. Islam teaches that they will go to heaven as Martyrs. Your statement is 100% true.
