Women Teaching In Church

MarkV -**I myself still believe the headship belongs to man. Having done further study on this subject I am more inclined to believe that the Scripture does indeed promote the headship of man in the church. Howbeit, I see nothing in Scripture that binds God not to give a calling to a woman particularly when there in no man that will answer the call and the woman is one that will be faithful to that calling. Unlike Glenn who seems to beleive that if there is no man to man the pulpit one should go without, I believe God may call a woman into the pastorage. Souls are saved by the preaching of the gospel message from the pulpit and this important position should not be vacant because of gender bias.

Christians Follow Ten Commandments

Paul9594 -//SEE of commandments before Mount Sinai. In case you may not have realized it some of the 10 commandments reflects moral law already accepted in all societies. Adultery, murder, etc. were considered wrong in all Gentile societies. If you were to read Romans 2:14 'For when Gentiles, who do NOT HAVE THE LAW, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law.' And Gentiles did not observe the OT Sabbath - a law given only to the Jewish nation at Mt. Sinai as a sign of the covenant God made only with them. Exodus 31:17. you may refuse to acknowledge, the Sabbath commandment (#4) was totally unheard of prior to Mt. Sinai.

Am I Part Of The Remnant

The only places in the New Testament that mention the 'remnant' are Acts 15:17, Romans 9:27 & Romans 11:15. In each case, the remnant speaks only of Israel, not of the Gentiles. Those denominations that like to point to themselves as being the remnant of God really lack good exegetics of Scirpture. They really want to point to themselves as being someone special in the eyes of God among other Christians. They believe that God has entrusted them with more truth than others but in fact, they are truly lacking and often preach 'another gospel'.

JackB -//Christians should follow the 10 commandments for sure If Christians were to follow Romans 13:9-10 which speaks of love of neighbor as the fulfillment of the law, you really would not need the Decalogue. Romans 13:9-10 The commandments, You shall not commit adultery, not murder, not covet, and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Love does no wrong to a neighbor, therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. Preachers all too often preach OT law when they should really focus on Jesus and the grace given us to fully live the Christian faith.

Darlene //It isn't about a woman not speaking but about a woman not usurping the power over her husband plus it is a reminder for a wife to respect her husband and his position in the church, not to bring him shame. Of course you have in view ONLY in the church since in our societies today athority is inherent in the job position held by the person. For instance, a woman who is a military general, a surgeon, a political leader, head of State, etc. has authority derived from the position. And those who work under her, must of course, submit to her direction. I am often left wondering if woman who believe men must lead are those who are too weak mentally to handle the responsibilities of decision making themselves.

Intimidation is the tool most often used by cultists. And we often hear on this forum accusations of being unscriptural in our viewpoint even on issues that are very peripheral to the basics of the faith. Another technique that the devil uses is that we can do anything we wish since we are saved by grace alone. However, those that are in Christ, have the Holy Spirit working within them for their sanctification and eventual glorification. They cannot continue to sin.

//In Genesis 1:3-5 God created light. This light lit up the side of the earth facing the sun. My little grey cells tell me that the sun was not created until the 4th period. Genesis 1:3-5 refers to the first period where the light was from God, not the sun which was not yet created. Clearly there was a change in what was viewed as a 'day' during the 1st 3 creation periods from those of the last 3 creation periods. So any reference to what constitutes a 'day' after the creation, would be based upon the earth's rotation in respect to the sun and thus 24 hours in duration.

He created time for us, defining what one day is in Genesis 1:3-5 , the same definition mankind has used since then and up to the present, to define a 24hr day. Sorry but you really need to read up on what constitutes a definition. Nowhere in the Bible do we find that a day being defined as to its duration. In Genesis 1:3-5 God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day. NOTHING ABOUT THE TIME DURATION OF A DAY. 	Warwick //David as hard as it is for us to understand, God does not live in time. He is eternal, therefore outside of time. He does not have days, weeks, months or years! Time was created for us, as Genesis 1:3-5 shows. Congratulations!!!! You are starting to get things right. That veil over your eyes is starting to be removed.
