Au contraire Lee I would prefer that people like you would treat others with respect. However I have learned to expect rudeness from compromisers offended by truth. In many countries Christians suffer extreme violence simply for being Christian. So what is a little childish insult in comparison?

It causes me to smile when you call my view point unbiblical when in reality I am the one who quotes Scripture. It is my ultimate authority, but sadly not yours.

Conversely you have not been able to supply one Scripture to support your antiBiblical views.

Trav, in 2 Peter 3:5 Peter says the world came into being because of God's word, then vs. 6 "By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed." vs. 7 "By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgement and destruction of ungodly men."

You believe that when 'the world of that time was deluged and destroyed' it was a local event. Therefore when he writes 'the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire,' this must mean the coming destruction of the earth is also local. Therefore 'ungodly men,' in other localities will not be destroyed!

BTW the local flood idea does not come from Scripture.

Trav, it is hermeneutics 101 that a word's meaning is determined by its specific context, not by its meaning in all contexts.

The repeated use of universal quantifier "all"/"every" (Hebrew kol) in Genesis 7:19-23 points to a global Flood. While single kol may sometimes be local, double kol must be universal.

Why spend decades building an Ark for a local Flood? Lot and his family just fled from the Sodom area, a local catastrophe. You could do it on a pogo stick!

Genesis 7:19 says '...all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered." As the flood waters had risen above the tops of the 'high mountains' how did the water stop flowing outwards, in your scenario?

Exzucuh, just one of the problems with trying to defend a denominational belief ( as you do) is that 'helpful' Scriptures are selected but 'unhelpful' are ignored or misused. Better to consider that Scripture interprets Scripture and look at what the flow of Scripture shows us.

Jesus is the Son of God therefore equal to the Father. He considered Himself equal to the Father as John 5:18 shows. God is creator, and as John 1:3, Colossians 3:16 show, Jesus is creator-no conflict-one God.

Viewed in this light in John 14:28 Jesus is not saying the Father is greater in power or divinity, but that in His on earth position He had humbled Himself, as Philippians 2:6-8 shows.

Jody some believe creation day-length isn't important.

However some passionately argue for long ages. They persist, becoming rude to those who disagree? Why? From experience I know it is because they have accepted nonBiblical views of origins, believing God used billions of years and evolution to create, not what Scripture says. Feeling condemned and embarrased they react emotionally, often abusing anyone who holds to Genesis, as written.

Church history shows the slide into liberalism, began when Christians accepted long-ages/evolution. This spread to denying the truth of more Scripture, until many say it doesn't matter if Jesus did physically die and physically rise again. As Scripture says they are now no longer Christian.

JackB, what you are saying is that God's word does not have to be believed. He defined what one day is in Genesis 1:3-5, confirmed in Exodus 20:8-11. * But despite the fact God does not make mistakes, or lie, you say it doesn't matter what it really means! Why then was He so specific?

Suppose I changed the subject of the conversation and said 'I really don't know what difference it makes whether or not Jesus physically died and rose again. Just seems like one more thing for Christians to cut each others throats about.'

Fair enough?

* Does Exodus 20:8-11 allow God's '7th day' to be 1000 yeras and the Israelites to be 24hrs? Makes no sense.

David, in Genesis 1:3-5 God provides a clear and detailed description of what makes a day. It ends with 'And there was evening, and there was morning-the first day.'

That these are everyday ordinary days is confirmed in Exodus 20:8-11 where God tells the Israelites they are to work six days and rest the seventh 'For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day.'

On what basis (Scripture, Grammar or logic) do you base your claim that the Israelites six days are of a different length than God's six days of creation?

Do not take away from Scripture or call God a liar or deceiver.

Trav, you express respect for God's word then say men wrote it! 2 Timothy 3:16 and 2 Peter 1:20,21, for example, contradict your view.

Jesus and the apostles quoted from the OT countless times, never hinting it was anything other than God's perfect word.

If humans lived and died before Adam then the gospel is based upon error, as the NT says death is an enemy, introduced by Adam's sin. Now overturned by Jesus' sacrificial death. The preAdamite idea undermines the Gospel.

Show from Scripture that The Flood '..was not WORLD WIDE.'

Consider 2 Peter 3, 5-7 which speaks of the world being destroyed by the flood. If it was local, as you say, will not the coming destruction of the earth, by fire, also be local?

David, you are very confused. Let me see if I can clear this up?

Are you saying that because He is eternal God cannot create things which are not eternal?

Lee you are right, I should have said one side of the earth was lit by God's light. The first rotation of the earth created the first day, a day of approximately 24hours, just as today when our 24hr days are not exactly 24hrs long. But close enough.

Question: Do you believe God can light the earth without the sun? Shock us all and give a straight answer!

Do you imagine I am in some, even some tiny way, insulted by your infantile 'ASS' taunts? Au contraire I am encouraged by them, and your regular others. They expose your real heart! Don't hold back you sad man, let me have it all. Both barrels, bless me!

Biblemike, you assume that all who blog here are Christians. Would a deceiver portray themselves as a deceiver or as a believer, to sow their error?

Trav, you wrote "You misinterpret Truthful/rebuke for Gall. Multiple scriptural witnesses/Prophets, beat an opinion hand every time." ?????? Leave aside the jumbled rhetoric and show me where I am wrong, by Scripture.

I am afraid to look at nothing. Suggestions as to where I should look?

"Oh, you use a little greek here a little hebrew there when it seems safe. But, if it endangers your sandy foundation. Adios amoebas."

Once again cut the rhetoric, descend to the particular, and show me where I have done this.

I am not a self-proclaimed Pastor!

Exzucuh, regarding John 14:28, Jesus said the Father is greater (meizon) than I, not better (kreitton) than I : 'meizon' is used to show the Fathers greater position, in heaven, as compared to Jesus, at that time the servant, on earth.

In Hebrews 1:4 'kreitton' is used to show Jesus is better/ superior to the angels. This demonstrates Jesus is not just positionally higher than angels, but greater in kind and nature.

The leader of a nation is positionally higher (meizon) that his countrymen, but not better (kreitton) than them.

Consider John 5:18 '...calling God his Father, making Himself equal with God.'

Trav, I have no self-esteem. I have only what Jesus has given me. The whole self-esteem philosophy is humanistic, while Scripture says "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23. But now forgiven, not self-righteous but Christ-given righteousness.

Hypocritically you criticize me for being unBiblical while you deny what God has written about Genesis creation, the world-wide flood of Noah, and the gospel. Amazing gall!

I do not create a different version but believe what God has written.

You carry on about God but will not believe what He has written. You say He can do anything, and I agree. However you believe he sometimes fails to write truth, apparently.

How Did God Make Life

Lee, you write "No one on this forum seems to want to agree with your contention, so why don't you just acknowledge the truth and toss in the towel?"

You confuse Truth and majority belief. Even if what you wrote were true it would be irrelevant. Truth is truth even if no one believes it. Doees the tree still fall if no one sees it happen?

A few bloggers have commented off line that they can't be bothered to debate with you because you make no sense.

However I persist as Truth is pleasing and easy to defend, and I quite enjoy it. I am not in the least bothered by your insults. In fact they are encouraging!

You have also supplied me wonderful information for future talks.

Lee your nonBiblical philosphy forces you into error.

God defines one day, the first ever day, in Genesis 1:3-5.

You refer to the 'first day' as 'the first period,' when Scripture calls it 'the first day', never a period! You impose your beliefs upon God's word.

You also persist with the nonScriptural, nongrammatical, nonlogical idea that God cannot create 'the first day,' without the sun, which He also created! Bizarre.

Scripture never even hints that the days of creation are of different length. Conversely Genesis ch. 1 Exodus 20:8-11, and Numbers 7:11-42 demonstrate the 'days' are the same length. However as your thinking is not Bible-based you ignore inconvenient Scriptures.

Clearly there was no change!

Lee, we have to apply the little grey cells!

In Genesis 1:3-5 God created light. This light lit up the side of the earth facing the sun, leaving darkness on the other. God called the light day and the darkness He called night! And there was evening and there was morning-the first day! A day just as Adam, Abraham, and Amos lived and as you and I live!

Exodus 20:8-11 confirms the creation days were 24hrs.

Outside of Genesis 1 'Evening and morning' are used without 'day' 38 times, 'Evening' or 'morning' are used 23 times, each with 'day.' 'Night' is used with 'day' 52 times. All of these mean ordinary 24hr day.

Exzucuh, the same names/titles are applied to Jesus because they are equal. In John 5:18 we read that by calling God his own Father He was "making Himself equal with God."

That is also why Jesus talks of we and our! One and the same God, in three persons.

How Did God Make Life

David, you feign incomprehension of what I have written.

The earth, atmosphere, food and time was created for us by God. It was not created by God for His habitation, as He does not breathe, eat, or live in time, but for us.

You wrote "If God's creative day is 24hrs, and God created everything in 144 hours, then God is not outside time."

Are you claiming Almighty God, who is eternal, cannot have created man and his environment, which is not eternal?

That the days of creation are 24hrs is shown by 1:3-5, and confirmed by Exodus 20:8-11. Or do you imagine God told the Israelites to work six days and rest the seventh, on pain of death, (Exodus 31:14-17), but did not inform them how long their days were?
