| Can We Eat Pork | |
This subject deals with Law. Has God's Laws been done away with? Did Jesus free you from God's laws? Was the law nailed to the cross, or were sin and death nailed to the cross? As Christians we are quick to post the 10 commandments, but then turn and only keep 9 of them. We tithe, but then say the law is dead. We read Jesus say as long as heaven and earth are here, so is the law... and then say he nailed the law to the cross. We look at Torah (Law) as bondage, punishment to the Jews, and then ignore David who called Torah a Delight, or Moses who called it Light. Is Law the bondage, or was sin and death the bondage?
| Could Jesus Come Back Today | |
To answer the OP's question: Act 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord, Act 3:20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: Act 3:21 Whom the heaven must receive UNTIL the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began. What was spoken by the prophets of old. When that message is received again, restored, Messiah will return. Peace. Ken
| Lord's Name In Vain | |
joseph has it correct,it has everything to do with how we walk in God's authority. The Hebrew word "shem," which we define in English as "name," means more than just name in Hebrew. It is representative, in this case, of God's power and authority, his character, his attributes. When we take his name in vain (vain means to make of no worth or useless). So when we take his shem (name) in vain, we are making his authority and power of no value. An example? A prophet can say "thus says the Lord" and then tell us what will come to pass. But if that prophet doesn't speak according to God's authority, he is taking his name in vain, and that thing he spoke will not come to pass!

To StevenG. And my point? I guess you didn't go back and look at it with a fresh perspective. No worries, you are free to see it as you do. Peace. Ken

StevenG, in the early 200's, at the council of Elvira, a law was passed by a portion of the church later absorbed by Rome. It said you weren't to eat the food of the Jews. A hundred years later, Rome passed a law forbidding Christians to marry Jews. In fact, at that time, Rome assumed the authority for marriage, no marriage was considered legit unless it went through them. Until then, the authority for marriage was given by God to the families. At the same time, when we see "scripture" or "the Word of God" in the NT, it is a reference to the OT, seeing there was no "NT" when these letters were written. With these in mind, go back and read 1 Tim 4. Peace. Ken
| How To Make Someone Believe | |
MarkV, sorry I have been away. I own and moderate my own site and it takes much of my time. I agree with your words, I always have. Only God can draw a man, and when one falls away, I think the weight then is on the individual to repent and get back in line, God already called him. My only point to the OP was that WE can't do anything to make a man believe. While we belong to the body of Messiah, we are individuals who have individual relationships with God. I hope (pray) this works out for her son. If she raised him well, I am sure it will. Peace my friend. Ken
| Lord's Name In Vain | |
I did a study on this about a year ago. My findings surprised me, so I don't expect anyone to just accept them. First, Lord and God are not names, they are titles. Remember, when scripture says, "whose name is the LORD," the all caps LORD is used in replace of his name. Shem, the Hebrew word for name means more than just name. It also reveals the character, authority, and attributes of the name holder. Cutting to the chase, we can profane God's name when we are disobedient to God's will. We take his name in vain when we make his name (authority) of no value, degrade it. Words don't do that as much as actions, or lack of them. Saying GD isn't good, but it isn't taking his name in vain, God is not his name. Ken

Trish, you are welcome to eat anything you want, I am not telling you what to do. However, Peter's vision had nothing to do with food. Food was something used by God because Peter understood it's significance. The message of the vision, which Peter clearly relates to Cornelius, is that "God showed him not to call MEN whom he has made clean, unclean." Re-read the whole chapter, that should become clear. Dreams are not literal, though they carry a literal message. The Pharaoh's dream had 7 sick cows eating the 7 healthy cows. Does that mean we can't put healthy cows in the same pen with sick cows because they will be eaten? No, the cows, and the unclean food, were symbols representing something else. Peace. Ken
| How To Make Someone Believe | |
We can no more make a person believe than we can make a rock speak. I agree with the Mod on both accounts, and I would ask why he doesn't believe anymore. What has changed? But don't push, pray, live according to God's will. Answer his questions, but don't give answers when questions are not asked. We as Christians often make that mistake, we forget, it is the Father who draws you, but we must seek in order to find. Answering questions before they are asked will fall on deaf ears. Blessings. | Can Satan Do What He Wants
We get the idea in the Christian world that satan is omnipresent... he is not. He can not make anyone do anything they don't willingly submit to, we are accountable for our OWN actions and words. Satan can't influence me here in Kentucky and Joe Smith in Washington at the same time, because, he is not omnipresent, he is not God! He is one being, a spirit, but not omnipotent, not omnipresent. He is not God's opposite, he is a CREATED being who chose to stand against God. He serves a purpose right now, but will ultimately be done away with at the appointed time. Satan has a beginning, and we know he has an end. God has neither.
| Don't Love My Good Husband | |
I assume you took a vow before him and God? Marriage is a sacred thing, the whole institution comes from scripture. If you truly fear God, love God, and you have a desire to walk in God's will... then you know what you need to do. (Learn to love him) Or, you can take the mainstream attitude and justify whatever action you want to take and believe you will be forgiven when ahead of time you know you will be breaking your vow.
| What Is Jesus Waiting For | |
What is Messiah waiting for? I think Acts 3:19-21, in part, sums that up. Pay attention to the word "until." Peace. Ken
| Keeping The Sabbath | |
Kella8334, I truly do not judge anyone for what day they keep holy. That's between you and God. But I would be interested in hearing why you stopped keeping it? I keep it, I am not nor ever have been a member of the SDA, never even stepped foot in one of their churches. (nothing against them) But over the last 10 years I have started to see scripture differently, and I simply do not see where Sabbath (any commands) have been done away with, nor found where Sabbath was moved to another day. I can find that in the writings of the church fathers... but not in scripture. Enlighten me. :-) Peace. Ken
| Christian Smokers | |
Lawrence... I do not smoke. I have about 6-12 beers a year and our congregation serves communion cups filled with wine or grape juice, your choice. Scripture tells us to be of a sober mind, to be not DRUNK with wine, it does NOT SAY not to drink it. 1Ti 3:8 Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, Even Messiah drank wine... and yes, it was fermented despite the objection of certain denominal teachings. What is sin is deciding for yourself who is eternally separated from God. You have no teaching platform when you are judgemental and sure that every answer you have is perfect. You have yet to be made incorruptible. Peace. Ken
| Did Jesus Break The Ten | |
Rhonda, I am not disagreeing with you, just adding something you might not know. The 10 commandments are called the 10 Words by most Jews. The reason, when you read them in Hebrew they are not as much commands as much as they are statements of fact. It is more like him saying: "My people do not make idols," or "my people do not steal." These aren't as much in command form but are spoken from the point of view that God's people simply don't do the don'ts, and do do the do's. (yikes, I said do do) Peace. Ken
| Make Disciples Not Churchgoers | |
Tom2>> people, even so called saved, dont realize that there is no life unless you are following christ. This temporary shell, ehr flesh ,is not life. >> I understand your point Tom, and to a point, you are correct. But when we believe in Messiah, when we identify with his death and resurrection...one of the things we do is get baptised. What we are doing there is being immersed into his death (and thus being washed of our sins similar to a Mikvah) and are "raised to walk in the newness of life." So while true life in him is to come, we are in him now, we are a changed man, a new man... and walk in a new life. Peace. Ken
| Was Melchizedek Jesus | |
There are many OT or Tanach figures who are types of Messiah. (He being the shadow or anti-type) Joseph who was born of a woman who was barren, who suffered and ultimately was able to bring life to his family. Another is Melchesidek, who was a High Priest, a King, a receiver of tithes... he was another type of Messiah. This is why Mel is used in Hebrews to show the ministry of the priesthood our Messiah now operates on our behalf from. Peace. Ken
| How Many Commandments | |
Lee>>For the Christian there is only ONE - love of neighbor. Which means what? We can serve other gods now? Steal, murder, cheat on our spouse? Peace. Ken
| How To Keep The Sabbath | |
Gary, the reason she does that is because the prophecy of the Torah being written on our heart is found in Jeremiah 31:31-34. In it, the word "Torah" is found, the same word used in Genesis 26:5 in regards to what Abraham kept, the same word used as that which was given at Sinai. The Jeremiah verses are repeated in Hebrews 8, and so we know we are speaking about "Torah" in that sense because it is a quote from the Tanach (OT) and not something "new." Messiah said he did not come to abolish Torah but to fulfill it. Fulfill can't mean he does away with it because that would mean he abolished it when he said that wasn't why he came. Peace. Ken
| Must My Daughter Be Baptised | |
Baptism is you identifying with Messiah in his death and resurrection. This is why we are baptised into his death and raised to walk in the newness of life. If your daughter understands (I mean REALLY understands) what Yehoshua (Jesus) did in regards to undoing the curse of the original sin, and understands that he died for all sin and his resurrection defeated death.... if she can identify with that, she should be allowed to be baptised...IMHO. Peace. Ken
