| Are Apocrypha Books Needed | |
Ignatius, My apologies. I assumed the King James version. This is probably the most conservative of the Bible translations. If we start there, we tend to get the most certain doctrines (As a general rule of thumb, always start with the most conservative references, and spiral out from there). I reiterate, however, the error is in not considering the Holy Spirit's role in the canonization of the Holy Scriptures. He still guides men who pray and study, just as he did those who were involved in translating and assembling it back then.
| Are Apocrypha Books Needed | |
Sorry to interrupt, but I believe you have both made the error of not considering the Holy Spirit's role in the canonization of the Bible as we know it. While it may have been done THROUGH man, can any of us honestly declare that the Bible came FROM man? That being said, I would recommend that you first get a good grip on the known canonized Bible and the associated doctrines. Once that is complete, you will have a sound mental filter through which to see the apocryphal materials. The LORD is not the author of confusion. God Bless and hammer away.
| Body Piercings Sinful | |
Over the years, I have come to understand that demons like to mark their territory. This is primarily through piercings, tattoos, and cuttings. While not all body art is taboo in the Bible, several types are. The only one properly sanctioned is the piercing of the ear of the slave who loves his master. I must ask a question of you. If you were God, and you created man perfectly - to look like you - would it not be correct to assume that you would mark him out as your territory by NOT marking him, since he was already perfect? Just ask youself, "Will this mark me out as God's territory?"
| What Is The Pride Of Life | |
Re: Pride of Life. I have also had great diffiuclties in obtaining a decent definition. So far, I have come up with this: 1)Like the other lusts, it is a DRIVER for sin and not sin itself. 2)It is in and of the world (i.e. not of the Father). 3)There are many good examples of PRIDE in the bible. 4)It is not PRIDE. Maybe if someone else looks at it the way I did, they can get it. The pride of life is a possesive term that can be re-translated LIFE'S PRIDE. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
